The Compact Linear Collider (CLIC) is a multi-TeV high-luminosity linear e+e- collider under development. This paper presents the complete design and experimental validations of the full scale prototype of a system of three new high voltage pulsed power converters for the CERN Linac4 H$^{−}$ source. The system requires three pulsed voltages (50kV, 40kV and 25kV to ground) at 2Hz repetition rate, for a 700µs of usable flat-top. The solution presents switching frequency ripplefree voltages and a minimal stored energy to protect the ions source from arc events consequences. The main design aspects are presented. Experimental results on the final full-scale prototype are presented and show excellent behaviour in nominal and short circuit operations.

This paper discusses various design aspects of a 280MW Power System for the Compact Linear Collider (CLIC), a 50km long electrons-positrons accelerator, under feasibility evaluation. The key requirements are a very high accelerator availability and constant power flow from the utility grid, considering the pulsed power nature of CLIC. Firstly, the possible power network and cabling layouts are discussed along with potential difficulties on electrical fault clearance. Following, the use of active front-end converters is examined as a means to control the power flow and power quality seen by the 400kV grid. In particular a modular multilevel converter preliminary configuration is described and the compromises related to energy storage and voltage level are discussed.

This paper presents some design issues of a 2 MW interleaved buck converter which is used as an active bouncer droop compensator for a 5.5MW long pulse klystron modulator. This novel design concept presents many challenges in terms of voltage ripple versus pulse rise-time. Issues related to the voltage ripple specification versus output filter design are discussed in detail. The design study is analyzed analytically, simulated numerically and is validated by experimental results obtained from a full power prototype.
