Integrated agricultural production systems can improve the physical, chemical and biological quality of the soil. Obtaining synergistic effects between the different production components allows the sustainability of the agropastoral, silvopastoral, agroforestry and agrosilvopastoral systems. Increases in carbon storage can be obtained with the adoption of integrated production systems, in addition to greater economic returns. The diversification of production makes it possible to reduce risks in the face of fluctuations in market prices. However, studies involving carbon storage and, mainly, the economic viability of integrated systems in the semiarid region are limited. In this context, the objective was to present results of carbon storage and economic return obtained with the adoption of integrated production systems in the semiarid region, aiming to present results that can subsidize the implementation of future projects, allowing to obtain gains in carbon stocks and greater economic viability in conditions of low water availability. Los sistemas integrados de producción agrícola pueden mejorar la calidad física, química y biológica del suelo. La obtención de efectos sinérgicos entre los distintos componentes productivos permite la sostenibilidad de los sistemas agropastoril, silvopastoril, agroforestal y agrosilvopastoril. Se pueden obtener incrementos en el almacenamiento de carbono con la adopción de sistemas de producción integrados, además de mayores retornos económicos. La diversificación de la producción permite reducir los riesgos ante las fluctuaciones de los precios de mercado. Sin embargo, los estudios que involucran el almacenamiento de carbono y, principalmente, la viabilidad económica de los sistemas integrados en la región semiárida son limitados. En este contexto, el objetivo fue presentar resultados de almacenamiento de carbono y retorno económico obtenidos con la adopción de sistemas de producción integrados en la región semiárida, con el objetivo de presentar resultados que puedan subsidiar la implementación de proyectos futuros, permitiendo obtener ganancias en stocks de carbono y mayor viabilidad económica en condiciones de escasa disponibilidad de agua. Os sistemas integrados de produção agropecuária podem promover melhoria da qualidade física, química e biológica do solo. A obtenção de efeitos sinérgicos entre os diferentes componentes de produção permite a sustentabilidade dos sistemas agropastoril, silvipastoril, agroflorestal e agrossilvipastoril. Aumentos na estocagem de carbono podem ser obtidos a partir da implantação de sistemas integrados de produção, além de maiores retornos econômicos. A diversificação da produção possibilita a redução de riscos frente às oscilações de preços de mercado. Contudo, estudos envolvendo a estocagem de carbono e, principalmente, a viabilidade econômica de sistemas integrados cultivados em região semiárida são limitados. Neste contexto, objetivou-se apresentar resultados de estocagem de carbono e retorno econômico obtidos com a adoção de sistemas integrados de produção no semiárido, visando apresentar resultados que possam subsidiar a implementação de projetos futuros, permitindo a obtenção de ganhos nos estoques de carbono e maior viabilidade econômica em condições de baixa disponibilidade hídrica.

Physical and chemical analyzes of the soil were performed, in the layers of 0.00-0.05, 0.05-0.10, 0.10-0.20, 0.20-0.40 and 0.40-1.00 m. Regarding the physical analysis, samples of up to 0.40 m were used. We verified that the soil under the Cerrado biome displayed higher organic matter content, aggregates larger than 2 mm percentage and weighted mean diameter in the layer of 0.05-0.10 m. The pasture system showed higher pH and soil base saturation, and higher Ca and Mg contents in the 0.10-0.20 and 0.40-1.00 m layers. All systems provided an increase in soil organic matter content. The highest contents of P, K, Ca and Mg were observed in the surface layer for all systems. Agropastoral system disaggregated the soil in the 0.05-0.10 m layer. No-tillage resulted in similar soil porosity values along the soil profile. Urochloa brizantha cv. Marandu usage as pasture contributed to improving soil chemical and physical fertility. EN: The use of trees in integrated crop-livestock-forestry systems (ICLF) allows diversifying production, increasing profitability per area, and providing a higher animal comfort. However, the influence of tree component on soil chemical attributes in this system is still little studied. This study aimed to assess the effect of trees and sun-exposed faces to solar radiation on soil nutrient availability at different distances of tree rows in an integrated crop-livestock-forestry system. This study was carried out in the northern Mato Grosso State, Brazil, in the Cerrado ? Amazon Forest transition region in an ICLF with the tree component formed by three eucalyptus rows. The assessment carried out in the second year of ICLF implantation considered the effect of tree distances (3, 6, 10, and 15 m) on two sun-exposed faces to solar radiation (north and south) on the main soil chemical attributes. Soil sampling was performed at depths of 0?0.05, 0.05?0.10, 0.10?0.20, and 0.20?0.30 m. The results indicated a homogeneity of the average nutrient contents obtained in the north and south-exposed faces, as well as in the comparison of the same distances in both assessed sun-exposed faces. Effects of trees on soil chemical attributes were verified only when an isolated analysis was carried out in the north-exposed face for K and Al contents. For these attributes, the increased distance in the row was associated with a reduction in their contents in the more superficial and deeper layers, respectively. Trees do not significantly affect soil nutrient availability in the first years of ICLF implantation in systems with homogeneity of solar radiation incidence in the sun-exposed faces although there may be discrete nutrient reductions with the distance of trees. | PT-BR: A insercao das arvores em sistemas de integracao lavoura, pecuaria e floresta (ILPF) permite diversificar a producao, aumentar a rentabilidade por area e proporcionar maior conforto animal. Entretanto, a influencia do componente arboreo sobre os atributos quimicos do solo neste sistema ainda e pouco estudada. Neste estudo, objetivou-se avaliar o efeito das arvores e das faces de exposicao solar sobre a disponibilidade de nutrientes no solo em diferentes distâncias de renques de arvores em um sistema de integracao lavoura pecuaria floresta. O trabalho foi realizado no norte do estado do Mato Grosso, em regiao de transicao Cerrado/ Floresta Amazonica em um sistema ILPF com o componente arboreo formado por renques de tres linhas de eucalipto. A avaliacao efetuada no segundo ano de implantacao do sistema ILPF considerou o efeito da distância das arvores (3, 6, 10 e 15 m) em duas faces de exposicao solar (norte e sul) sobre os principais atributos quimicos do solo. A amostragem do solo foi efetuada nas profundidades de 0-0,05; 0,05-0,10; 0,10-0,20 e 0,20-0,30 m. Os resultados indicaram homogeneidade dos teores medios de nutrientes obtidos nas faces norte e sul, bem como na comparacao das mesmas distâncias nas duas faces de exposicao avaliadas. Efeitos das arvores sobre os atributos quimicos do solo foram verificados apenas quando da analise isolada na face norte para os teores de K e Al. Para esses atributos, o aumento da distância do renque foi associado a reducao dos teores nas camadas mais superficiais e mais profundas, respectivamente. A disponibilidade de nutrientes no solo nao e afetada significativamente pelas arvores nos primeiros anos de implantacao do sistema ILPF em sistemas em que ha homogeneidade na incidencia de raios solares nas faces de exposicao, ainda que possa reducoes discretas de nutrientes com o distanciamento das arvores.

EN: Integrated crop-livestock-forest (iCLF) systems have gained prominence in the past decades as an alternative of sustainable land use, particularly in regions in which there is pressure against agricultural expansion in protected ecosystems such as the Brazilian Amazon. In this context, the objective of this study is to evaluate the effects of one year of use of the iCLF system in the Cerrado/Amazon transition region to determine its impact on soil quality compared to other traditional land uses in the region (planted forest, crop, forage, and native forest). The results indicated that the iCLF system did not jeopardize the soil physical quality, and only the crop land use affected the soil physical attributes. The land uses with the lowest impact on the physical condition of the soil were the iCLF system and the planted forest. | PT-BR: Os sistemas de integração lavoura-pecuária-floresta (ILPF) têm ganhado destaque nas últimas décadas como uma alternativa de uso sustentável das terras, especialmente em regiões onde existe pressão contra a expansão agropecuária sobre ecossistemas protegidos, como é o caso da Amazônia Brasileira. Objetivou-se com este estudo avaliar o carbono orgânico total e as frações físicas e químicas da matéria orgânica (MO) do solo em um Argissolo Vermelho Eutrófico arênico, submetido a diferentes sistemas de uso. Os sistemas de uso do solo avaliados foram: florestamento homogêneo de Eucalyptus grandis (EUC), sistema agrossilvipastoril na faixa (ASP) e campo nativo (CN), nas camadas de 0,000-0,025m e de 0,025-0,075m. A fração grosseira (CFG) e o carbono associado aos minerais (CAM) foram obtidos por meio de fracionamento físico granulométrico. As frações leve livre (FLL), leve oclusa (FLO) e pesada (FP) foram obtidas por meio de fracionamento físico densimétrico. As frações não húmicas (NH), ácido fúlvico (AF), ácido húmico (AH) e humina (HU) foram obtidas por meio de fracionamento químico. O sistema EUC promoveu maiores estoques de carbono orgânico total, CFG, FLL e FLO e na fração AF nas camadas avaliadas. Na camada superficial, os mecanismos de proteção da MO por recalcitrância molecular e estabilização química estão sobrepondo a estabilidade decorrente da oclusão em agregados. Com a dificuldade de formar agregados, devido a matrizes arenosas desse solo, o carbono jovem que entra no sistema é decomposto pelos microrganismos, entrando em um estágio mais avançado de decomposição e, nesse caso, formando associações com as partículas silte e argila, mesmo em solos em que o percentual de argila é baixo. Através do fracionamento químico, observou-se que a maior parte da MO do solo encontra-se armazenada na forma de HU. The objective of this study was to evaluate the total organic carbon and the physical and chemical fractions of organic matter in an Alfisol under different use systems. The land use systems evaluated was homogeneous forestry of Eucalyptus grandis, agrosilvopastoral system and native grassland, in layers from 0.000-0.025 and 0.025-0.075m depth. The coarse fraction (CFG) and the carbon associated minerals (CAM) were obtained by physical fractionation. The free light fraction (FLL), light occluded (FLO) and heavy (FP) were obtained by densimetric physical fractionation. The non-humicfractions (NH), fulvic acid (AF), humic acid (HA) and humin (HU) were obtained by chemical fractionation. The Eucalyptus grandis system promoted higher total organic carbon, CFG, FLL and FLO and AF. In the surface layer, the protective recalcitrance mechanisms by organic matter molecular and chemical stabilization are overlapping stability which result from aggregates occlusion. As is difficult to form aggregates due to sandy soil matrix, carbon youth which enter the system is decomposed by microorganisms going to a more advanced stage of decomposition, forming in this case associations with silt and clay particles. This occurs in soils where the clay percentage is low. Through the fractionation it was observed that most of the soil organic matter is stored in the form of HU.

Integrated production systems are cited as a possibility for optimization of sustainable cultivation in the semi-arid region of Minas Gerais, especially in relation to degraded pasture areas. The objective of this work was to analyze quantitatively and qualitatively the growth, production and carbon stocks of two eucalyptus genotypes cultivated in an integrated crop-livestock-forest (ICLF) system in the north of Minas Gerais State, Brazil. This research was carried out at Fazenda da Barra, municipality of Francisco S?, between December 2012 and November 2016. It was conducted in a 3.2 ha experimental area subdivided into two treatments with Eucalyptus cloeziana and the urograndis hybrid. The system was intercropped with sorghum and marandu grass, with spacing in double rows (2 x 3m) x 14 m. In each treatment, 12 plots of 336 m2 were randomly distributed, including 24 trees/plot. Survival rates, diameter at soil height, diameter at breast height and total height of trees, as well as damage and weakness, were evaluated. Volumetric and biomass production, carbon (C) fixation and C dioxide sequestration (CO2) were also analyzed. Data were submitted to analysis of variance and correlation matrix. The results indicate that the ?arapu?? (Trigona spinipes) bee and the termite were the main biotic factors to the damages and weaknesses in eucalyptus cloeziana and urograndis, respectively. The growth and volumetric production of the genotypes were statistically different for the 450, 630, 1020 and 1,320 days after transplanting. Urograndis, although reaching the higher mortality rate (66.7%), had the higher volumetry production (23.4920 m3 ha-1) and resistance to the dry seasons. However, E. cloeziana had a higher survival rate (80.6%) and lower volumetric production (9.2974 m3 ha-1). The mean annual increment for biomass were higher in urograndis (5,673.36 kg ha-1) than in cloeziana (3,166.04 kg ha-1). Thus, eucalyptus urograndis was the genotype that presented higher C fixation (5.53 t ha-1) and CO2 sequestration (20.30 t ha-1) in the ICLF system evaluated.

Les écosystèmes subissent à la foi la pression humaine et climatique depuis des décennies, ainsi l’évaluation de l’état écologique des paysages agraires du Burkina Faso est nécessaire pour mettre en évidence l’action humaine sur l’environnement. Dans le cadre de cette étude, l’objectif est de caractériser quatre zones agro-sylvo-pastorales pour comprendre l’interaction entre le climat, l’action humaine et l’écosystème le long d’un gradient pluviométrique. L’étude a été réalisée sur des gradients anthropiques recoupant les aires protégées, les zones de cultures et les zones pâturées dans quatre zones agro-sylvo-pastorales du Burkina Faso. Des relevés floristiques ont été effectués au niveau des sites de suivis écologiques mis en place, selon la méthode d’inventaire itinérante. La richesse spécifique de la flore a été décroissante le long du gradient pluviométrique et du gradient anthropique. L’analyse factorielle des correspondances des relevés floristiques a permis de séparer le domaine sahélien de la savane. Elle a permis également de représenter 3 types de paysages (aires protégées, zones de cultures et zones pâturées) dans chaque zone agro-sylvo-pastorale. La répartition paysagère s’est faite en fonction de l’occupation du sol, mettant ainsi en évidence l’action humaine. Les zones pâturées se présentent comme des zones à écologie intermédiaire entre les zones de cultures et les aires protégées., Evaluation of the ecological state of Burkina Faso landscapes is necessary to understand human action on environment. This study aimed at characterizing the study sites to understand interactions between climate, humans and ecosystems along a rainfall gradient. The study was carried out along anthropic gradients overlapping protected areas, cropping areas and grazing areas in four agro-sylvo-pastoral areas of Burkina Faso. Floristic inventories were conducted at ecological surveys sites, according to an itinerant inventory method. The floristic richness is decreasing along the rainfall gradient and anthropic gradients. Correspondence analysis of floristic surveys allowed us separating the sahelian to savannah area and representing three types of landscapes (protected, cropping and grazing areas) in each zone based on land use, thus proving human impacts on ecosystem. Human action and climate aridity seems to have the same effect on vegetation. Grazing areas appear as intermediate ecology zones between cropping areas and protected areas.

In this study, the authors aimed to apply a consistent, efficient and biologically correct model to estimate growth and yield of the tree component from eucalypt-based agroforestry systems and, through economic indicators, analyze and evaluate its products. The systems were composed by hybrid clones of Eucalyptus spp. in 10 x 4 m spacing, integrated with rice, soybean and pasture. The equation system developed by CLUTTER (1963) was used as the starting point for estimating growth and yield of Eucalyptus wood. The model application resulted in accurate estimates for both basal area and future volume, with adjusted coefficient of determination of 0.908 and 0.956, respectively. The economic criteria used in the analysis were the internal rate of return (IRR), the net present value (NPV), the equivalent annual value (EAV) and the benefit-cost ratio (B/C) with discount rates of 6, 8, 10 and 12 %. The agroforestry systems were economically viable considering all studied indicators and discount rates. Lastly, changes in the discount rate affect the systems profitability, so that the lower the rate, the higher the economic return. Neste estudo, os autores buscaram aplicar um modelo consistente, eficiente e biologicamente correto para estimar crescimento e produção do componente arbóreo de sistemas agroflorestais baseados em eucalipto e, através de indicadores econômicos, analisar e avaliar seus produtos. Os sistemas foram compostos por clones híbridos de Eucalyptus spp. em espaçamento de 10 x 4m, integrados com arroz, soja e pasto. O sistema de equações desenvolvido por Clutter (1963) foi usado como ponto de partida para estimar crescimento e produção de madeira de eucalipto. A aplicação do modelo resultou em estimativas precisas tanto para área basal quanto para volume, com coeficiente de determinação ajustado de 0.908 e 0.956 respectivamente. Os critérios econômicos utilizados nas análises foram a taxa interna de retorno (TIR), o valor presente líquido (VPL), o valor anual equivalente (VAE) e razão benefício-custo (B/C) com taxas de desconto de 6, 8, 10 e 12%. Os sistemas agroflorestais foram viáveis economicamente considerando todos os indicadores e taxas de desconto estudadas. Por fim, mudanças na taxa de desconto afetam a rentabilidade dos sistemas, sendo que, quanto menor a taxa, maior o retorno econômico. Financiadora de Estudos e Projetos Larvae of Geometridae (Lepidoptera) were collected with entomological umbrella during 13 months in Agrosilvopastoral System and Reforestation at Canchim Farm (Embrapa Pecuária Sudeste, São Carlos, SP) area, and maintained in laboratory until the emergence of adults or of its parasitoids. Hymenopterous parasitoids of the subfamilies Microgastrinae (Braconidae) and Campopleginae (Ichneumonidae) were obtained from collected larvae, and during 10 months were also captured by Malaise traps in a fragment of Semideciduous Forest, Reforestation, Agrosilvopastoral System and Sorghum crop, in the same area of Farm. In the Agrosilvopastoral System the Geometridae larvae were collected in four plant species and in the Reforestation area, in 12 species. The greatest abundance and species richness of hosts were obtained in the Agrosilvopastoral System; the Reforestation had the greatest number of genera of Geometridae. In the Reforestation the most abundant genus of Geometridae was Macaria (Ennominae); in this site, the host plant with the highest number of larvae collected were Aegiphila sellowiana. In the Agrosilvopastoral System, the most abundant species of Geometridae was Eupithecia sp. (Larentiinae); in this site, Anadenanthera colubrina (Vell.) Brenan (Mimosaceae) was the host that had the highest number of collected larvae and parasitized larvae. In the Reforestation, the rate of parasitism over Geometridae larvae was higher than the recorded in the Agrosilvopastoral System. Most of the species of parasitoids obtained from larvae that occurred in Agrosilvopastoral System and Reforestation, were captured by Malaise traps. The genres that parasitized the largest number of Geometridae larvae were Glyptapanteles (Microgastrinae) and Charops (Campopleginae). The parasitoids obtained with Malaises generally were more abundant in the Reforestation, and the most abundant specie in this area was Cotesia sp. (Braconidae, Microgastrinae), and in the Agrosilvopastoral System was Campoletis sp. (Ichneumonidae, Campopleginae). For Microgastrinae fauna sampled with Malaise, the area with highest species richness index was the Reforestation, and the fragment of Forest showed the highest value for evenness. For Campopleginae fauna, also obtained with Malaise trap, the Agrosilvopastoral System had the highest species richness and greatest evenness. Was observed different patterns in the distribution of the abundance of hymenopterous parasitoids and Geometridae larvae in different environments, given the same climatic conditions. Larvas de Geometridae (Lepidoptera) foram coletadas com guarda-chuva entomológico durante 13 meses em Sistema Agrossilvipastoril e Reflorestamento em área da Fazenda Canchim (Embrapa Pecuária Sudeste, São Carlos, SP), e mantidas em laboratório até a emergência dos adultos ou de seus parasitoides. Himenópteros parasitoides das subfamílias Microgastrinae (Braconidae) e Campopleginae (Ichneumonidae) foram obtidos das larvas coletadas, e durante 10 meses foram também capturados por armadilhas Malaise em Fragmento de Floresta Estacional Semidecídual, Reflorestamento, Sistema Agrossilvipastoril e Plantio de Sorgo, na mesma área da Fazenda. No Sistema Agrossilvipastoril as larvas de Geometridae foram coletadas em quatro espécies de planta e no Reflorestamento, em 12 espécies. A maior abundância e riqueza de espécies de hospedeiros foram obtidas no Sistema Agrossilvipastoril; o Reflorestamento apresentou um maior número de gêneros de Geometridae. No Reflorestamento o gênero mais abundante de Geometridae foi Macaria (Ennominae); nesse local, a planta hospedeira com maior número de larvas coletadas foi Aegiphila sellowiana. No Sistema Agrossilvipastoril, a espécie de Geometridae mais abundante foi Eupithecia sp. (Larentiinae); nesse local, Anadenanthera colubrina (Vell.) Brenan (Mimosaceae) foi a planta hospedeira que apresentou o maior número de larvas coletadas e larvas parasitadas. No Reflorestamento, a taxa de parasitismo sobre as larvas de Geometridae foi maior do que a registrada no Sistema Agrossilvipastoril. A maior parte das espécies de parasitoides obtidos das larvas que ocorreram no Sistema Agrossilvipastoril e Reflorestamento, foram capturados por armadilhas Malaise. Os gêneros que parasitaram o maior número de larvas de Geometridae foram Glyptapanteles (Microgastrinae) e Charops (Campopleginae). Os parasitoides, obtidos com Malaise, em geral foram mais abundantes no Reflorestamento, e a espécie mais abundante nessa área foi Cotesia sp. (Braconidae, Microgastrinae), e no Sistema Agrossilvipastoril foi Campoletis sp. (Ichneumonidae, Campopleginae). Para a fauna de Microgastrinae amostrada com Malaise, a área com maior índice de riqueza de espécies foi o Reflorestamento, e o fragmento de Mata apresentou o maior valor para equitabilidade. Para a fauna de Campopleginae, também obtida com armadilha Malaise, o Sistema Agrossilvipastoril apresentou a maior riqueza de espécies e a maior equitabilidade. Foram observados diferentes padrões na distribuição da abundância de himenópteros parasitoides e larvas de Geometridae nos diferentes ambientes, diante das mesmas condições climáticas.
