1. Burden of cardiovascular disease in a large contemporary cohort of patients with heterozygous familial hypercholesterolemia

Abstract: Background and aims: Heterozygous familial hypercholesterolemia (HeFH) is increasingly better diagnosed and treatments can improve the cardiovascular prognosis. We evaluated the long-term cardiovascular risk of HeFH using the French REgistry of Familial hypERCHOLesterolemia (REFERCHOL). Methods: We studied HeFH patients diagnosed genetically and clinically by the Dutch Lipid Clinic Network (DLCN) criteria in all lipid clinics across the country and their 5-year risk of cardiovascular events (all fatal and non-fatal acute coronary, cerebral and peripheral arterial disease events, aortic valve replacement surgery) using the French national health data system. Results: The database comprised 3202 individuals, 2010 (62.8%) with genetically verified HeFH and 1192 (37.2%) a DLCN score ≥6. Of these individuals, 2485 (77.6%) were in primary prevention and 717 (22.4%) in secondary prevention. The incidence of cardiovascular events was 24.58 per 1000 person-years for the overall sample, 19.15 in primary prevention and 43.40 in secondary prevention. The incidence of myocardial infarction, cerebral infarction and death was 16.32 per 1000 person-years for the overall sample, 12.93 in primary prevention and 28.08 in secondary prevention. The incidence of aortic valve replacement was 1.78 per 1000 person-years. In the overall sample, at inclusion, 41% were not treated for LDL cholesterol, 48% of these in primary prevention and 20% in secondary prevention and high-dose statins were used by only 24% of individuals, 15% of these in primary prevention and 45% in secondary prevention. Conclusions: The incidence of cardiovascular events in HeFH is high and lipid-lowering treatment is far from optimal. The cardiovascular risk of HeFH is underestimated and patients are inadequately treated.

2. Comparison of Phenotypical Antimicrobial Resistance between Clinical and Non-Clinical E. coli Isolates from Broilers, Turkeys and Calves in Four European Countries

Abstract: Livestock data on antimicrobial resistance (AMR) are commonly collected from bacterial populations of clinical and non-clinical isolates. In contrast to data on non-clinical isolates from livestock, data on clinical isolates are not harmonized in Europe. The Normalized Resistance Interpretation (NRI) method was applied to overcome the lack of harmonization of laboratory methods and interpretation rules between monitoring systems. Statistical analyses were performed to identify associations between the isolate type (clinical vs. non-clinical) and resistance to four antimicrobials (ampicillin, tetracycline, gentamicin, and nalidixic acid) per animal category in Germany and France. Additional statistical analyses comparing clinical and non-clinical isolates were performed with the available data on the same antimicrobial panel and animal categories from the UK and Norway. Higher resistance prevalence was found in clinical isolates compared to non-clinical isolates from calves to all antimicrobials included in Germany and France. It was also found for gentamicin in broilers from France. In contrast, in broilers and turkeys from Germany and France and in broilers from the UK, a higher resistance level to ampicillin and tetracycline in non-clinical isolates was encountered. This was also found in resistance to gentamicin in isolates from turkeys in Germany. Resistance differed within countries and across years, which was partially in line with differences in antimicrobial use patterns. Differences in AMR between clinical and non-clinical isolates of Escherichia coli are associated with animal category (broiler, calf, and turkey) and specific antimicrobials. The NRI method allowed comparing results of non-harmonized AMR systems and might be useful until international harmonization is achieved.

Abstract: Background: Animal studies have demonstrated that fetal exposure to high maternal cholesterol levels during pregnancy predisposes to aortic atheroma in the offspring. In humans, little is known about the consequences of this exposure on the development of atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease later in life. We wanted to assess whether maternal/paternal inheritance of familial hypercholesterolemia (FH) gene mutation could be associated with subclinical coronary atherosclerosis. Methods: We retrospectively included 1350 patients, followed in the French registry of FH, with a documented genetic diagnosis. We selected 556 age- and sex-matched pair of patients based on the sex of the parents who transmitted the FH gene mutation, free of coronary cardiovascular event, and with a subclinical coronary atherosclerosis evaluation assessed using coronary artery calcium (CAC) score. We performed univariate and multivariate analysis to assess the individual effect of parental inheritance of the FH gene mutation on the CAC score. Results: In the whole population, patients with maternal inheritance of FH gene mutation (n=639) less frequently had a family history of premature cardiovascular events (27.7% versus 45%, P P =0.02) than those with paternal inheritance (n=711). There was no difference in the prevalence of cardiovascular events between the two groups. In the matched subgroup, maternal inheritance was significantly associated with an increase in CAC score value by 86% (95% CI, 23%–170%; P =0.003), a 1.81-fold risk of having a CAC score ≥100 Agatston units (95% CI, 1.06–3.11; P =0.03), and a 2.72-fold risk of having a CAC score ≥400 Agatston units (95% CI, 1.39–5.51; P =0.004) when compared with paternal inheritance in multivariate analysis. Conclusions: Maternal inheritance of FH gene mutation was associated with more severe subclinical coronary atherosclerosis assessed by CAC score and may be considered as a potential cardiovascular risk factor.

Abstract: International audience; ObjectivesThis study aimed at investigating the additional contribution of coronary artery calcium (CAC) score to SAFEHEART (Spanish Familial Hypercholesterolemia Cohort Study) risk equation (SAFEHEART-RE) for cardiovascular risk prediction in heterozygous familial hypercholesterolemia (HeFH).BackgroundCommon cardiovascular risk equations are imprecise for HeFH. Because of the high phenotype variability of HeFH, CAC score could help to better stratify the risk of atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ASCVD).MethodsREFERCHOL (French Registry of Familial Hypercholesterolemia) and SAFEHEART are 2 ongoing national registries on HeFH. We analyzed data from primary prevention HeFH patients undergoing CAC quantification. We used probability-weighted Cox proportional hazards models to estimate HRs. Area under the receiver-operating characteristic curve (AUC) and net reclassification improvement (NRI) were used to compare the incremental contribution of CAC score when added to the SAFEHEART-RE for ASCVD prediction. ASCVD was defined as coronary heart disease, stroke or transient ischemic attack, peripheral artery disease, resuscitated sudden death, and cardiovascular death.ResultsWe included 1,624 patients (mean age: 48.5 ± 12.8 years; men: 45.7%) from both registries. After a median follow-up of 2.7 years (interquartile range: 0.4-5.0 years), ASCVD occurred in 81 subjects. The presence of a CAC score of >100 was associated with an HR of 32.05 (95% CI: 10.08-101.94) of developing ASCVD as compared to a CAC score of 0. Receiving-operating curve analysis showed a good performance of CAC score alone in ASCVD prediction (AUC: 0.860 [95% CI: 0.853-0.869]). The addition of log(CAC + 1) to SAFEHEART-RE resulted in a significantly improved prediction of ASCVD (AUC: 0.884 [95% CI: 0.871-0.894] for SAFEHEART-RE + log(CAC + 1) vs AUC: 0.793 [95% CI: 0.779-0.818] for SAFEHEART-RE; P < 0.001). These results were confirmed also when considering only hard cardiovascular endpoints. The addition of CAC score was associated with an estimated overall net reclassification improvement of 45.4%.ConclusionsCAC score proved its use in improving cardiovascular risk stratification and ASCVD prediction in statin-treated HeFH.

Abstract: The carriage of carbapenemase-producing Enterobacteriaceae (CPE) might lengthen the time to functional recovery (TTFR) for inpatients in post-acute care (PAC) units.We aimed to assess the impact of CPE carriage on TTFR in a PAC facility.This 2-year retrospective cohort study included 20 CPE-positive patients and 54 CPE-negative patients admitted to 3 PAC units (general, orthopaedic and neurological rehabilitation units) in a teaching hospital from January 2017 to December 2019. Potential risk factors and demographic data were collected from patients' medical records, the French national hospital discharge database, and the hospital's CPE surveillance database. Functional recovery was defined as the median difference in functional independence measure (FIM) between admission and discharge from each unit. Survival analysis and multiple Cox regression models were used to predict the TTFR and identify factors associated with functional recovery.The overall median [interquartile range] TTFR was 50 days [36-66]. Longer median TTFR was associated with CPE carriage (63 vs 47 days in the CPE-negative group; adjusted hazard ratio (aHR) 0.35, 95% CI 0.13-0.97) and presence of a peripheral venous catheter (aHR 3.51, 1.45-8.46); shorter TTFR was associated with admission to an orthopaedic versus general rehabilitation unit (aHR 3.11, 1.24-7.82).CPE carriage in inpatient PAC facilities was associated with long TTFR. Further studies are needed to explore the mechanisms involved in these adverse events and to identify possible preventive measures.

Abstract: Resume La greffe allogenique de cellules souches hematopoietiques (CSH) est une therapeutique usuelle pour de nombreuses maladies hematologiques. Au cours des dernieres decennies, des progres importants ont ete realises dans les domaines de la prise en charge des patients. La selection des donneurs, les conditionnements de greffe et les soins de support des patients ont contribue a l’amelioration de la survie des patients. La plupart des procedures en rapport avec la greffe allogenique de CSH ont ete standardisees par des recommandations nationales ou internationales amenant a des certifications telles que Joint Accreditation Committee ISCT-Europe & EBMT (JACIE). Mais tous ces standards et ces recommandations ne definissent pas de facon precise les moyens minimums humains et materiels necessaires a la realisation de telles procedures. En plus, les unites dans lesquelles sont places ces patients sont soumises a des regles architecturales et procedurales non uniformisees. Lors de cet atelier, nous avons tente de definir une trame minimale concernant le personnel, l’infrastructure architecturale et des pratiques d’hygiene generales pour les patients, le personnel et les visiteurs.

Abstract: Background The European Atherosclerosis Society Familial Hypercholesterolaemia Studies Collaboration (FHSC) global registry provides a platform for the global surveillance of familial hypercholesterolaemia through harmonisation and pooling of multinational data. In this study, we aimed to characterise the adult population with heterozygous familial hypercholesterolaemia and described how it is detected and managed globally. Methods Using FHSC global registry data, we did a cross-sectional assessment of adults (aged 18 years or older) with a clinical or genetic diagnosis of probable or definite heterozygous familial hypercholesterolaemia at the time they were entered into the registries. Data were assessed overall and by WHO regions, sex, and index versus non-index cases. Findings Of the 61 612 individuals in the registry, 42 167 adults (21 999 [53.6%] women) from 56 countries were included in the study. Of these, 31 798 (75.4%) were diagnosed with the Dutch Lipid Clinic Network criteria, and 35 490 (84.2%) were from the WHO region of Europe. Median age of participants at entry in the registry was 46.2 years (IQR 34.3-58.0); median age at diagnosis of familial hypercholesterolaemia was 44.4 years (32.5-56.5), with 40.2% of participants younger than 40 years when diagnosed. Prevalence of cardiovascular risk factors increased progressively with age and varied by WHO region. Prevalence of coronary disease was 17.4% (2.1% for stroke and 5.2% for peripheral artery disease), increasing with concentrations of untreated LDL cholesterol, and was about two times lower in women than in men. Among patients receiving lipid-lowering medications, 16 803 (81.1%) were receiving statins and 3691 (21.2%) were on combination therapy, with greater use of more potent lipid-lowering medication in men than in women. Median LDL cholesterol was 5.43 mmol/L (IQR 4.32-6.72) among patients not taking lipid-lowering medications and 4.23 mmol/L (3.20-5.66) among those taking them. Among patients taking lipid-lowering medications, 2.7% had LDL cholesterol lower than 1.8 mmol/L; the use of combination therapy, particularly with three drugs and with proprotein convertase subtilisin-kexin type 9 inhibitors, was associated with a higher proportion and greater odds of having LDL cholesterol lower than 1.8 mmol/L. Abstract: Introduction: Recent guidelines of the American Thyroid Association (ATA) suggest that a lobectomy may be sufficient to treat low- to intermediate-risk patients with thyroid tumors ≤40 mm, without extrathyroidal extension or lymph node metastases. The present study aimed to evaluate long-term recurrence after lobectomy for differentiated thyroid cancer and to analyze factors associated with recurrence. Methods: In this retrospective cohort study, patients who underwent a lobectomy for thyroid cancer in a tertiary center between 1970 and 2010 were included. The outcome was the proportion of pathology-confirmed thyroid cancer recurrence, assessed in the whole cohort or in subgroups according to tumor size (≤ or >40 mm). Results: A total of 295 patients were included, and these were followed-up for a mean (standard deviation, SD) 19.1 (7.8) years (5,649 patient-years); 61 (20.7%) were male and the mean (SD) age at diagnosis was 39.7 (12) years. Histological subtype was papillary in 263 (89.2%) patients and mean cancer size was 22.9 (16.9) mm. According to the 2015 ATA guidelines, 271 (91.9%) cancers had a low risk of recurrence and 24 (8.1%) an intermediate risk. A reoperation was performed in 54 patients (18.3%) and recurrence was confirmed in 40 (13.6%), diagnosed for 55% of cases more than 10 years after their initial surgery. Among recurrent patients, 14 (4.8% of the cohort) were operated for a contralateral papillary thyroid microcarcinoma and 26 (8.8% of the cohort) for a locoregional or metastatic recurrence. Non-suspicious nodular recurrences were monitored without reoperation in 53 (18.0%) patients. At the end of follow-up, 282 (95.6%) patients were in remission. Tumors with locoregional or metastatic recurrence were more frequent among tumors with aggressive histology (19.2 vs. 4.1%, p = 0.015) and of intermediate risk category (28.6 vs. 7.1%, p = 0.018). Tumors >40 mm, which would have been treated by thyroidectomy according to the 2015 ATA guidelines criteria, were found in 34 (11.5%) patients and were associated with a higher frequency of recurrence (20.6 vs. 7.3%, p = 0.024) and less remission (85.3 vs. 96.9%, p = 0.001). Conclusion: The outcome of thyroid cancer treated by lobectomy is very good, particularly for cancer ≤40 mm. A prolonged follow-up is required due to the risk of late recurrence.

Abstract: International audience; CAR T-cells are anti-cancer immunocellular therapy drugs that involve reprogramming the patient's T-cells using a transgene encoding a chimeric antigen receptor (CAR). Although CAR T-cells are cellular therapies, the organization for manufacturing and delivering these medicinal products is in many ways different from the one for hematopoietic cell grafts or donor lymphocyte infusions. The implementation of this innovative therapy is recent and requires close coordination between clinical teams, the therapeutic apheresis unit, the cell therapy unit, the pharmaceutical laboratory, and pharmacy. Apart from the regulatory texts, which are regularly modified, and the specific requirements of each pharmaceutical laboratory, there is currently no guide to help the centers initiating their activity and there is no specific indicator to assess the quality of the CAR T-cell activity in each center. The purpose of the current harmonization workshop is to clarify the regulatory prerequisites warranted for a center to have a CAR T-cell activity and to propose recommendations for implementing quality tools, in particular indicators, and allowing their sharing.

Abstract: The Born–Oppenheimer ab initio equilibrium structures of propane (CH3)2CH2 and 2,2-difluoropropane (CH3)2CF2 were computed at the CCSD(T) level of theory using a basis set of quadruple zeta quality. The semiexperimental structure of propane was also determined from the ground state rotational constants corrected for rovibrational corrections calculated at the MP2 level of theory. Structural comparisons are made with other molecules and are discussed in terms of the quantum theory of atoms in molecules.

Abstract: Background and aims Patients with heterozygous familial hypercholesterolemia (HeFH) present elevated cardiovascular (CV) risk. Current CV risk stratification algorithms developed for the general population are not adapted for heFH patients. It is therefore of singular importance to develop and validate CV prediction tools, which are dedicated to the HeFH population. Methods Our first objective was to validate the Spanish SAFEHEART-risk equation (RE) in the French HeFH cohort (REFERCHOL), and the second to compare SAFEHEART-RE with the low-density-lipoprotein-cholesterol (LDL-C)-year-score for the prediction of CV events in the HeFH French population. Results We included HeFH (n = 1473) patients with a genetic or clinical diagnosis (DLCN score ≥8). Among them, 512 patients with a 5-year follow-up were included to validate the 5 year-CV-RE. A total of 152 events (10.3%) occurred in the entire population of 1473 patients during a mean follow-up of 3.9 years. Over the five-year follow-up, non-fatal CV events occurred in 103 patients (20.2%). Almost all the parameters used in the SAFEHEART-RE were confirmed as strong predictors of CV events in the REFERCHOL cohort. The C-statistic revealed a satisfactory performance of both the SAFEHEART-RE and LDL-C-year-scores in predicting CV events for all the patients (primary and secondary prevention) (C-index 0.77 and 0.70, respectively) as well as for those in primary prevention at inclusion (C-index 0.78 and 0.77, respectively). Conclusions This analysis represents the first external validation of the SAFEHEART-RE and demonstrated that both SAFEHEART-RE and the LDL-C-year-score are good predictors of CV events in primary prevention HeFH patients.

Abstract: The high-resolution absorption spectra of phosgene (Cl 2 CO) has been recorded at 0.001 cm −1 resolution in the 250–350 cm −1 region by Fourier transform spectroscopy at synchrotron SOLEIL. To reduce the spectral congestion, the spectra have been recorded at low temperature (197 K) using a 93.14 m optical path length cryogenic cell. This enables the first detailed infrared analysis of the ν 3 bands of the 35 Cl 2 CO and 35 Cl 37 ClCO isotopologues of phosgene. Using a Watson-type Hamiltonian, it was possible to reproduce the upper state rovibrational infrared energy levels, together with, for 35 Cl 2 CO, the available microwave data in the 3 1 excited state (Yamamoto et al. 1984) to within their experimental accuracy. In this way, accurate rotational and centrifugal distortion constants together with the following band centers: ν 0 ( ν 3 , 35 Cl 2 CO) = 301.545622(17) cm −1 and ν 0 ( ν 3 , 35 Cl 37 ClCO) = 298.199194(81) cm −1 , were derived for the ν 3 bands of 35 Cl 2 CO and 35 Cl 37 ClCO.

Abstract: Improved line positions and intensities have been generated for the 7.6 µm spectral region of nitric acid. They were obtained relying on a recent reinvestigation of the nitric acid band system at 7.6 µm and comparisons of HNO3 volume mixing ratio profiles retrieved from the Michelson Interferometer for Passive Atmospheric Sounding (MIPAS) limb emission radiances in the 11 and 7.6 µm domains. This has led to an improved database called MIPAS-2015. Comparisons with available laboratory information (individual line intensities, integrated absorption cross sections, and absorption cross sections) show that MIPAS-2015 provides an improved description of the 7.6 µm region of nitric acid. This study should help to improve HNO3 satellite retrievals by allowing measurements to be performed simultaneously in the 11 and 7.6 µm micro-windows. In particular, it should be useful to analyze existing MIPAS and IASI spectra as well as spectra to be recorded by the forthcoming Infrared Atmospheric Sounding Interferometer – New Generation (IASI-NG) instrument.

Abstract: The high-resolution absorption spectrum of trifluoromethyliodide (CF3I), an alternative gas to chlorofluorocarbons but with potential greenhouse effects, has been recorded at 0.001 cm−1 resolution in the 200–350 cm−1 region with the Bruker IFS125HR Fourier transform spectrometer at synchrotron SOLEIL. Due to the spectral congestion and the presence of numerous hot bands, the spectra have been recorded at the AILES Beamline facility at SOLEIL either at room temperature using a 150 m optical path length cell or at 163 K using the new LISA-SOLEIL cryogenic cell and at the Australian synchrotron using a flow cooling cell. This enables a detailed analysis of the v3 band at 286.29712(3) cm−1 of CF3I. The results of previous microwave measurements in the v3 = 1 and v6 = 1 vibrational states (Walters and Whiffen, 1983; Wahi, 1987) were combined with those of the present infrared analysis of the v3 band to obtain an improved set of parameters for the v3 = 1 (C–I stretching) and v6 = 1 (I–C–F bending) interacting vibrational states accounting for the Coriolis resonance coupling the v3 = 1 energy levels with those of the dark v6 = 1 state (located at ∼261.5 or at ∼267.6 cm−1). Finally, a first investigation of the 2v3 − v3 hot band is also performed.

Abstract: A high resolution (0.0015 cm −1 ) IR spectrum of propane, C 3 H 8 , has been recorded with synchrotron radiation at the French light source facility at SOLEIL coupled to a Bruker IFS-125 Fourier transform spectrometer. A preliminary analysis of the ν 21 fundamental band (B 1 , CH 3 rock) at 921.382 cm −1 reveals that the rotational energy levels of 21 1 are split by interactions with the internal rotations of the methyl groups. The AA, EE and AE + EA components of this A-type band have their band centers at 921.3724(38), 921.3821(33) and 921.3913(44) cm −1 , respectively. These torsional splittings most probably are due to anharmonic and/or Coriolis resonance couplings with nearby highly excited states of both internal rotations of the methyl groups. In addition, several vibrational–rotational resonances were observed that affect the torsional components in different ways.

Abstract: A reinvestigation of the ν 3 band of 15 NO 2 has been performed using experimental data acquired in 2000 [Orphal J, Perrin A, Flaud JM, Smirnov M, Himmelmann, Voigt S, Burrows JP. J Mol Spec 2000;204:72–9]. The linelist generated in this way during this study was used to detect this isotopologue in the atmosphere for the first time, using balloon-borne solar occultation spectra measured by the JPL MkIV Fourier transform spectrometer. It is shown that over the 15–35 km altitude range where 15 NO 2 can be detected, the retrieved 15/14 NO 2 ratio is within 5% of the expected value (0.00364), implying that the absolute line intensities in the new linelist are accurate. Over the same altitude range the RMS spectral fitting residuals reduce significantly as a result of including the new 15 NO 2 linelist, improving the accuracy of retrievals of all gases that absorb in the 1550–1650 cm −1 region (e.g., 14 NO 2 , H 2 O, HDO, O 2 ).

23. Prevalence and molecular epidemiology of mcr-mediated colistin-resistance Escherichia coli from healthy poultry in France after national plan to reduce exposure to colistin in farm

Abstract: IntroductionWithin the 2007–2014 programme for the surveillance of antimicrobial resistance (AMR) in livestock in France, mcr-1 prevalence average in commensal Escherichia coli was found to be 5.9% in turkeys and 1.8% in broilers, indicating that mobile colistin resistance had spread in farm animals. In 2017, the French national Ecoantibio2 plan was established to tackle AMR in veterinary medicine, with the objective of a 50% reduction in exposure to colistin in farm animals within 5 years (from 2014–2015 to 2020). Our objective was to update data concerning the prevalence and molecular epidemiology of colistin resistance, in consideration of colistin sales in poultry production in France.MethodsAntimicrobial susceptibility of commensal E. coli isolated from broilers and turkeys at slaughterhouse was determined by broth micro-dilution. The mcr genes were screened by polymerase chain reaction (PCR). Whole genome sequencing (WGS) was used to investigate the genetic diversity of colistin-resistant isolates. Transformation experiments enabled identification of the mcr-bearing plasmid replicon types. The correlation between prevalence of colistin resistance and colistin usage data was explored statistically.Results and discussionIn 2020, in France, the resistance prevalence to colistin in poultry production was 3% in turkeys and 1% in broilers, showing a significant highly positive correlation with a −68% decrease of poultry exposure to colistin since 2014. Only the mcr-1 gene was detected among the colistin-resistant E. coli. More than 80% of isolates are multi-drug resistant with 40% of isolates originating from turkeys and 44% originating from broilers co-resistant to the critically important antimicrobial ciprofloxacin. Most of the strains had no clonal relationship. The mcr gene was located in different plasmid types, carrying various other AMR genes. The decrease in colistin resistance among poultry in France can be considered a positive outcome of the national action plans for reduced colistin usage.

Abstract: Using high resolution Fourier transform spectra, a new investigation of the ν1+ν2+ν3 absorption band of nitrogen dioxide, 14N16O2, located at 3637.8479(3) cm−1 was performed. The assigned ν1+ν2+ν3 lines involve energy levels of the (1,1,1) vibrational state with rotational quantum numbers up to Ka=12 and N=54. The energy levels were satisfactorily reproduced within their experimental uncertainty using a theoretical model which takes explicitly into account the Coriolis interactions coupling the (1,1,1) levels with those of the (1,3,0) and (2,1,0) dark states, together with the spin–rotation interactions within (1,1,1) and (1,3,0) and (2,1,0). As a consequence, precise vibrational energies, rotational, spin–rotational and coupling constants were achieved for the triad {(2,1,0),(1,3,0),(1,1,1)} of interacting states of 14N16O2. Using these parameters together with the transition moment operator of the ν1+ν3 band achieved during previous studies [Mandin JY, Dana V, Perrin A, Flaud JM, Camy-Peyret C, Regalia L, Barbe A, J Mol Spectrosc 1997;181: 379–388], we have generated an improved set of line parameters (line positions and line intensities) for the ν1+ν2+ν3−ν2 hot band of 14N16O2 which absorbs together with the ν1+ν3 cold band in the 3.4 µm region.

Abstract: The first investigation of the very weak 2ν1 + 3ν3 absorption band of nitrogen dioxide, 14N16O2, located at 7192.1587(1) cm−1 was performed using Fourier-transform incoherent broadband cavity-enhanced absorption spectroscopy (FT-IBBCEAS) in the 7080–7210 cm−1 spectral range. The assigned 2ν1 + 3ν3 lines involve energy levels of the (2 0 3) vibrational state with rotational quantum numbers up to Ka = 7 and N = 47. Furthermore, due to local resonances involving energy levels from the ( 2 , 2 , 2 ) ⇔ ( 2 , 0 , 3 ) and ( 5 , 1 , 0 ) ⇔ ( 2 , 0 , 3 ) states, several transitions were also observed for the 2ν1 + 2ν2 + 2ν3 and 5ν1 + ν3 dark bands, respectively. The energy levels were satisfactorily reproduced within their experimental uncertainty using a theoretical model which takes explicitly into account the Coriolis interactions between the levels of the (2, 0, 3) vibrational state and those of (2, 2, 2) and of (5, 1, 0). As a consequence, precise vibrational energies, rotational, and coupling constants were achieved for the triad {(5, 0, 1), (2, 2, 2), (2, 0, 3)} of interacting states of 14N16O2. This theoretical model also accounts for the electron spin-rotation resonances within the (2, 0, 3), (2, 2, 2) and (5, 1, 0) vibrational states. However, owing to the limited experimental resolution (∼0.075 cm−1), it was not possible to observe the spin-rotation doublet structure. As a consequence, the spin-rotation constants in the {(2, 2, 2), (2, 0, 3), (5, 1, 0)} excited states were maintained fixed to their ground state values in this study. Using these parameters a comprehensive list of line positions and line intensities was generated for the 2ν1 + 3ν3 band of NO2.

Abstract: The very weak absorption spectrum of the main isotopologue of nitrogen dioxide, 14N16O2, is investigated for the first time between 7760 and 7917 cm−1. The studied region corresponds to the highest energy range of the vibrational spectra of 14N16O2 investigated so far at high spectral resolution. The absorption spectra were recorded by very high sensitivity Continuous Wave-Cavity Ring Down Spectroscopy with a noise equivalent absorption of αmin≈5×10−11 cm−1. The spectrum results from the superposition of the rovibrational transitions of the 2ν1+5ν2+ν3, 2ν1+ν2+3ν3 and 5ν1+ν3 bands at 7790.9, 7888.2 and 7904.3 cm−1, respectively. The spectrum assignment and modeling were performed using the effective Hamiltonian approach, which involves altogether three bright – (2,5,1), (2,1,3) and (5,0,1) and three dark – (2,7,0), (2,3,2) and (5,2,0) states. As a result, 3020 rovibrational transitions were assigned including 51 extra lines of the 2ν1+3ν2+2ν3 and 5ν1+2ν3 bands. In this way, the overall set of 1494 spin-rotation energy levels were reproduced with an rms of 4.9×10−3 cm−1 for the (obs.−calc) deviations, leading to the determination of 66 fitted parameters. The effective Hamiltonian for the {(5,2,0), (2,3,2), (2,7,0), (2,5,1), (2,1,3), (5,0,1)} interacting states takes into account both the spin–rotation interactions within each vibrational state and C-type Coriolis and anharmonic resonances between different vibrational states, according to symmetry considerations. Indeed for NO2 the ( v , 1 v 2 ± 2 , v 3 ∓ 1 ) ↔ ( v , 1 v 2 , v 3 ) spin rotation energy levels are usually coupled through C-type Coriolis resonances, and accordingly the (2,7,0)↔(2,5,1)↔(2,3,2)↔(2,1,3) and (5,2,0)↔(5,0,1) interactions were included in the effective Hamiltonian model. Furthermore, these two blocks of interacting states are coupled by an additional C-type Coriolis and anharmonic resonances. Using the fitted values of the Hamiltonian parameters and the values of the 2ν1+5ν2+ν3, 2ν1+ν2+3ν3 and 5ν1+ν3 bands transition dipole moment operators determined from a fit of a selected set of experimental line intensities, a synthetic spectrum was generated for the entire investigated region and is provided as Supplementary material .

Abstract: Absolute individual line intensities of numerous transitions of the fundamental ν 2 and ν 10 bands of oxirane (ethylene oxide, cyc-C 2 H 4 O) have been measured in the 1420–1560 cm −1 region using seven high-resolution Fourier transform spectra recorded at 0.002 cm −1 resolution and various pressures. These line intensities were least-squares fit using a theoretical model which takes into account the vibration–rotation interactions linking the upper state rotational levels, and, therefore, accurate rotational expansion of the transition moments of the ν 2 and ν 10 vibrational bands were derived. Using the coefficients obtained in the fitting, a line list of both bands has been generated. Comparisons with measurements taken at low resolution of the ν 2 / ν 10 dyad system show excellent agreement.

28. New Analysis of the ν3 and ν4 Bands of HNO3 in the 7.6 μm Region

Abstract: A new line position analysis of the ν3 and ν4 bands of nitric acid (HNO3) at 1326.186 and 1303.072 cm(-1) together with its associated interacting bands is presented. The 3(1) and 4(1) energy levels were obtained from an extended analysis of high-resolution Fourier transform spectra recorded at Giessen in the 7.6 μm region. The energy levels of 3(1) and 4(1) upper states of nitric acid are strongly interacting with those of the 9(3), 6(2), 5(1)9(1), and 7(1)8(1) dark states centered at 1288.899, 1289.46, 1341.05, and 1343.78 cm(-1), respectively. Informations on these perturbing dark states were achieved through previous partial investigations of hot bands in high-resolution Fourier transform spectra recorded at 22 μm in Giessen (for 3ν9-2ν9 and 3ν9-ν5), at 12 μm in Denver (for 3ν9-ν9), and at 11 μm in Orsay (for ν5+ν9-ν9). The energy levels calculation accounts for the various Fermi, anharmonic, A-type, B-type, and C-type Coriolis resonances, which couple together the {6(2),9(3),4(1),3(1),5(1)9(1),7(1)8(1)} interacting energy levels. For nitric acid, the ν9 mode (OH torsion relative to the -NO2 moiety) is a large amplitude motion. The theoretical model used in this work accounts also for large amplitude effects in the 9(3) dark state, which lead to a splitting of the 9(3) energy levels of about 0.060 cm(-1). In this way, the existence of torsional splittings for several ν4 perturbed lines was explained by the occurrence of local A-type and B-type Coriolis resonances coupling the 4(1) energy levels with those of 9(3). Because four dark bands had to be accounted for in the model, the results of the energy level calculations are reasonable, although not perfect. However, a very significant improvement was achieved in terms of understanding the 7.6 μm absorbing bands of nitric acid as compared to the analysis of the ν3 and ν4 bands performed several years ago [Perrin, A.; Lado-Bordowski, O.; Valentin, A. Mol. Phys. 1989, 67, 249-267]. Finally, the present analysis also features, for the first time, the ν3+ν9-ν9 hot band located at 1331.09 cm(-1). This study will help to improve HNO3 measurements by satellites. This will be indeed the case for the "Infrared Atmospheric Sounding Interferometer" (IASI) experiment.

Abstract: A new rovibrational study of the ν6 band of methyl iodide was conducted to obtain a rather complete line list. A new analysis of line positions was accomplished. The spectrum of this band has been first recorded using the Bruker IFS125HR Fourier transform spectrometer (FTS) at the AILES beamline of the SOLEIL Synchrotron facility and later with the Bruker IFS125HR FTS located at the LISA facility in Creteil. Altogether, about 10,000 lines were assigned for the ν6 and 2ν3 bands up to high quantum numbers (J ⩽ 85 and K ⩽ 20). Because of the large value of the 127I nuclear quadrupole hyperfine constant, a significant portion of these assignments concerns clusters of hyperfine subcomponents, which are easily observable at 11 μm. These infrared data were combined in a least squares fit together with the existing microwave data on rotational transitions within the v6 = 1 and v3 = 2 vibrational states to get the upper state rotational constants and interacting parameters for the v6 = 1 and v3 = 2 states. Due to the high values of quantum numbers achieved during this infrared analysis, the final energy level calculation accounts for aCx ( Δ l = ± 1 ; Δ K = ± 1 ) and an α ( Δ l = ∓ 1 ; Δ K = ± 2 ) types of Coriolis interactions coupling the v6 = 1 energy levels with those from the v3 = 2 and v2 = 1 states, respectively. On the other hand, it proved unnecessary to update the existing hyperfine parameters for the v6 = 1 and v3 = 2 states.

Abstract: International audience; High-resolution Fourier transform spectra of 18O-enriched isotopic samples of sulphur dioxide (32S16O18O and 32S18O2) have been recorded at 0.00102 cm-1 resolution in the 400-620 cm-1 region at Synchrotron SOLEIL. These spectra have been recorded at low temperature 185 K using a 3.14 m optical path length cryogenic cell. This enables the first detailed infrared analysis of the ν2 bands of the 32S16O18O and 32S18O2 isotopologues of sulphur dioxide located at 507.36541(1) and 496.59988(1) cm-1, respectively. Using a Watson-type Hamiltonian model to compute the upper and lower state energy levels, it was possible to reproduce the observed transitions. For both species, accurate rotational and centrifugal distortion constants were derived for the upper (0,1,0) vibrational state, while those of the (0,0,0) ground state were significantly updated. For this task, we combined the results of the present infrared measurements with the available literature microwave data in the (0,0,0) and (0,1,0) vibrational states. Finally, we took the opportunity of this study to compare the quality of the fit using an A- and S-type reduction for the Watson Hamiltonian.

Abstract: The GEISA database (Gestion et Etude des Informations Spectroscopiques Atmosphériques: Management and Study of Atmospheric Spectroscopic Information) has been developed and maintained by the ARA/ABC(t) group at LMD since 1974. GEISA is constantly evolving, taking into account the best available spectroscopic data. This paper presents the 2015 release of GEISA (GEISA-2015), which updates the last edition of 2011 and celebrates the 40th anniversary of the database. Significant updates and additions have been implemented in the three following independent databases of GEISA. The “line parameters database” contains 52 molecular species (118 isotopologues) and transitions in the spectral range from 10−6 to 35,877.031 cm−1, representing 5,067,351 entries, against 3,794,297 in GEISA-2011. Among the previously existing molecules, 20 molecular species have been updated. A new molecule (SO3) has been added. HDO, isotopologue of H2O, is now identified as an independent molecular species. Seven new isotopologues have been added to the GEISA-2015 database. The “cross section sub-database” has been enriched by the addition of 43 new molecular species in its infrared part, 4 molecules (ethane, propane, acetone, acetonitrile) are also updated; they represent 3% of the update. A new section is added, in the near-infrared spectral region, involving 7 molecular species: CH3CN, CH3I, CH3O2, H2CO, HO2, HONO, NH3. The “microphysical and optical properties of atmospheric aerosols sub-database” has been updated for the first time since 2003. It contains more than 40 species originating from NCAR and 20 from the ARIA archive of Oxford University. Abstract: The hot band 3ν9−ν9 of the isotopologue 11BF2OH (difluoroboric acid) located at 1034.78 cm−1 was investigated for the first time by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy. During previous studies both, the ν9 mode (OH-torsion relative to the BF2 moiety, at 522.87 cm−1) and the ν4 mode (in-plane OH bend) had been shown to exert large amplitude motion, and splittings of 0.0051 and 0.0038 cm−1 had been observed in the interacting 2ν9 and ν4 bands located at 1042.87 and 961.49 cm−1, respectively. The present work establishes large amplitude effects also for the 93 excited state located at 1557.655 cm−1. Numerous P and R transitions of the 3ν9–ν9 hot band were identified in the 2ν9 manifold, and doublets corresponding to a torsional splitting of 0.031 cm−1 in the 93 state were observed. The vibrational assignment of the 93 state was confirmed by the detection of the 3ν9−2ν9 hot band Q branch in the 19 μm region.

Abstract: Fourier transform spectra of oxirane (ethylene oxide, c-C 2 H 4 O) have been recorded in the 730–1560 cm −1 (6.4–13.7 μm) spectral region using a Bruker IFS125HR spectrometer at a resolution of 0.0019 cm −1 . A total of six vibration bands, ν 15 , ν 12 , ν 5 , ν 3 , ν 10 and ν 2 , have been observed and analyzed. The corresponding upper state ro-vibrational levels were fit using Hamiltonian matrices accounting for various interactions. Satisfactory fits were obtained using the following polyads {15 1 , 12 1 , 5 1 } and {10 1 , 2 1 } of interacting states. As a result, an accurate and extended set of Hamiltonian constants were obtained. The following band centers were derived: ν 0 ( ν 15 ) = 808.13518(60) cm −1 , ν 0 ( ν 12 ) = 822.27955(37) cm −1 , ν 0 ( ν 5 ) = 876.72592(15), ν 0 ( ν 3 ) = 1270.37032(10) cm −1 , ν 0 ( ν 10 ) = 1471.35580(50) cm −1 and ν 0 ( ν 2 ) = 1497.83309(15) cm −1 where the uncertainties are one standard deviation.

38. The first high-resolution infrared study of diazirinone, N2CO: Analysis of the Fermi-coupled ν1 and 2ν5 bands

Abstract: The first validated detection of the elusive diazirinone molecule (N2CO) in the gas phase was performed using high-resolution infrared spectra recorded in the 1810–2100 cm−1 region. The ν1 and 2ν5 bands were identified at 2043.8 and 1863.3 cm−1 close to the ab initio prediction [X.Q. Zeng, H. Beckers, H. Willner, J.F. Stanton, Angew. Chem. Int. Ed. 50 (2011) 1720–1723]. For these two bands, the individual lines exhibit a (2:1) intensity alternation, confirming a three membered ring structure (C2V symmetry) for N2CO. The major output of the ν1 and 2ν5 bands analysis is the first experimental determination of the ground-state rotational constants of cyclic N2CO. The observed intensity pattern of the ν1 and 2ν5 bands is in agreement with the existence of a strong Fermi resonance coupling the 11 and 52 energy levels.

39. The ν1, ν2, and ν3 bands of carbonyl chlorofluoride (COFCl) at 5.3, 9.1, and 13.1μm: position and intensity parameters and their use for atmospheric studies

Abstract: A list of line positions and, for the first time, of line intensities was generated for the ν 1 , ν 2 , and ν 3 fundamental bands of the 12 C 16 OF 35 Cl and 12 C 16 OF 37 Cl isotopologs of carbonyl chlorofluoride, located at 5.3, 9.1, and 13.1 μm, respectively. In addition, for the most abundant isotopolog ( 12 C 16 OF 35 Cl) this linelist includes also the contributions from the first two associated hot bands. The parameters included in this database were generated by combining the results of previous experimental analyses and ab initio calculations [Perrin A, Flaud JM, Burger H, Pawelke G, Sander S, Willner H. First high resolution analysis of the six fundamental bands ν 1 , ν 2 , ν 3 , ν 4 , ν 5 and ν 6 of COF 35 Cl in the 340 to 2000 cm −1 region. For the purpose of the present work, a partial re-investigation of the ν 1 of COF 35 Cl was performed, together with the first identification of the ν 2 band of COF 37 Cl. These parameters were generated in order to improve the quality of remote sensing of the atmosphere in the mid-IR. Analyses of atmospheric solar occultation spectra measured by the JPL MkIV interferometer show that the new linelist not only improves the quality of retrievals of COFCl, but also of several other gases whose absorptions overlap those of COFCl.

40. Line-mixing between rotational Stark components of CH3F self-perturbed and perturbed by helium: Experimental results and IOS analysis

Abstract: Self- and He-broadening coefficients of microwave transitions of CH 3 F have been measured with and without the presence of an external electric field. This provides values for the J , K → J + 1, K ( K = 0 − J ) transitions for J = 1 and J = 3 as well as for the various J , K , M → J + 1, K , M ′ (| M | = 0 − K , | M – M ′| = 0, 1) Stark components. The results and those of a previous experimental study for pure CH 3 F, which show significant line-mixing effects, are analyzed with a model based on the Infinite Order Sudden approximation. It is shown that the latter leads to very satisfactory modeling of observed values even though no parameter was adjusted since previously and independently determined basic cross-sections are used. The quality of the present predictions is comparable with that obtained previously with a semi-classical approach. Furthermore, it is shown that the previously stated inaccuracy of the IOS model was due to an oversimplified use of this approach.

41. First analysis of the ν5 band of DNO3 (deuterated nitric acid) in the 11μm region

Abstract: The infrared spectrum of DNO3 (deuterated nitric acid) was recorded at high resolution (0.0027 cm−1) in the 700–1400 cm−1 region on a Bruker IFS 120 HR Fourier transform spectrometer. The analysis of the ν5 band of DNO3 centred at 887.657 cm–1 which is mostly an A-type band, was performed making use of the ground state parameters achieved by Drouin et al. [Drouin BJ, Miller CE, Fry JL, Petkie DT, Helminger P, Medvedev IR. J Mol Spectrosc 2006;236:29–34]. The ν5 fundamental band is strongly perturbed because of the existence of the ν7+ν9 dark combination band at 882.21 cm–1. The 51 and 7191 energy levels of DNO3 are coupled through A and B type Coriolis resonances, and as a consequence, numerous lines from the ν7+ν9 dark combination band could be identified also. In this way about 1070 and 75 energy levels of the 51 and 7191 vibrational states, respectively, were satisfactorily reproduced by the energy levels calculation which account for the observed resonances. A reasonable estimation of the absolute line intensities for the ν5 band of DNO3 was performed using the ν5 transition operator from H14NO3. The spectrum also features the ν5+ν6−ν6, ν5+ν7−ν7 and ν5+ν9−ν9 hot bands located at 881.03, 882.61 and 884.45 cm−1, respectively.

Abstract: International audience; The infrared spectrum of the fluorocarboxyl radical, FCO2, was recorded at high resolution (0.0035 cm−1) in the 600−1400 cm−1 region on a Bruker IFS 120 HR Fourier transform spectrometer of the University of Wuppertal. The analysis of the A-type nu2 band of FCO2 (CF stretching mode) centred at 970.208 cm−1 was performed taking use of the ground state parameters achieved by Kolesnikova et al. [Kolesnikova L, Varga J, Beckers H, Simeckova M, Zelinger Z, Nova Striteska L, Kania P, Willner H, Urban S. J. Chem. Phys. 128, 2008, pp. 224302-1-8]. For the FCO2 radical, the nu2 transitions are, in principle, splitted into two spin - rotation subcomponents corresponding to J= N +/-1/2. However the spin- rotation parameters in the 21 vibrational state have values similar to those of the ground state, and spin-rotation doublings are observable only for the weaker transitions involving medium Ka or Kc values in the P and R branches. The nu2 fundamental band is weakly perturbed by the 2nu5 dark overtone band at 965.4 cm−1 and the 21 and 52 energy levels of FCO2 are coupled through Fermi type resonances. The final energy level calculation was performed accounting both for the spin -rotation interaction within the 21 and 52 vibrational states, and the 21 52 Fermi-type resonances.

Abstract: We present the high resolution absorption measurements of gaseous HONO at room temperature using continuous-wave cavity ring-down spectroscopy in the near-infrared region between 6017 and 6067 cm −1 at a resolution of 1 pm (0.037 cm −1 ). For the trans -HONO isomer an extensive analysis of the ν 1 +2 ν 3 combination band 6045.8089 cm –1 was performed starting from the results of a previous study for the 1 1 and 3 1 vibrational states [Guilmot J-M, Godefroid M, Herman M. Rovibrational parameters for trans -nitrous acid. J Mol Spectrosc 1993;160:387–400]. The present combination band is perturbed because of the existence of several dark states of HONO which could not be identified unambiguously. The rotational constants achieved for the 1 1 3 2 state deviate slightly from the values which are predicted from the rotational constants achieved in the previous studies for the 1 1 and 3 1 vibrational states of trans -HONO.

44. New Analysis of the ν3 fundamental band of HDCO: Positions and intensities

Abstract: Using high-resolution Fourier transform spectra of mono deuterated formaldehyde (HDCO) recorded in the 5.8-μm spectral range at Giessen (Germany), we carried out an extensive analysis of the strong ν3 fundamental band (carbonyl stretching mode) at 1724.2676 cm−1, starting from results of a previous analysis [J.W.C. Johns, A.R.W. McKellar, J. Mol. Spectrosc. 64 (1977) 327–339]. For this hybrid band (with both A- and B-type transitions) the analysis was pursued up to high rotational quantum numbers. In this way, it was possible to evidence a resonance which perturbs the ν3 lines for high Ka values which is due to the existence of the 2ν5 and ν5 + ν6 dark bands in the same spectral region. In addition a local resonance is perturbing the 31 levels in K a ′ = 8 which is due to a crossing with the 41 energy levels in Ka = 11. The model used to calculate the energy levels accounts for the observed A- type, B- type C-type Coriolis (and/or) Fermi resonances which couple the 31 and the 5161, 52, and 41 energy levels. However the 41 state is also involved in strong vibration–rotation interactions coupling the {51,61,41} system of resonation states of HDCO [A. Perrin, J.M. Flaud, L. Margules, J. Demaison, H. Mader, S. Wormke, J. Mol. Spectrosc. 216 (2002) 214–224]. Therefore the final energy levels calculation was performed for the {51,61,41,31,52,5161} resonating states and in this way it was possible to reproduce the observed line positions, within their experimental uncertainties. The present work also led to the determination of the intensity ratio of the B- to A-type components of the ν3 band IA/IB ∼24 band from spectral fittings performed in several parts of the observed spectrum. Finally, using the 5.8 μm band intensity available in the literature we generated, for the first time, a list of line parameters (positions and intensities) for the 5.8 μm region of HDCO.

45. Some improvements of the HNO3 spectroscopic parameters in the spectral region from 600 to 950cm−1

Abstract: In an earlier study [Flaud JM, Brizzi G, Carlotti M, Perrin A, Ridolfi M. MIPAS database: validation of HNO3 line parameters using MIPAS satellite measurements. Atmos Chem Phys 2006;6:1–12] the HNO3 line parameters in the HITRAN spectroscopic database have recently been revisited in the spectral range corresponding to the MIPAS spectral range. For the 11.3mm, these updates involve the line positions for the {n5 ,2 n9} bands, and the intensities. However, comparisons between observed spectra recorded by MIPAS and the calculated ones in the 600–950 cm � 1 region still show significant disagreements. The goal of the present paper is to solve some of these problems. Based on the analysis of N2-broadened HNO3 laboratory spectra recorded with a Fourier transform instrument, a new HNO3 database was generated, including the following improvements: (i) approximate parameters for the n5+n7� n7 and n5+n6� n6 hot bands have been added, and (ii) the intensities for the n6 and n8 bands have been updated. (iii) The air broadening and its temperature dependence, calculated using a semi-classical approach, have been added for each HNO3 transition. (iv) Finally, line-mixing effects have been pointed out, particularly in the n5+n9� n9 Q branch, and an approach correctly modeling the resulting spectral shape is proposed. & 2008 Published by Elsevier Ltd.

46. Theoretical calculations of N2-broadened half-widths of ν5 transitions of HNO3

Abstract: A number of satellite instruments are measuring nitric acid, HNO 3 , in the Earth's atmosphere. In order to do retrievals of temperature and concentration profiles, the spectral parameters for many thousands of HNO 3 transitions must be known. Currently the HITRAN database uses a constant estimated value for the air-broadened half-width of HNO 3 . To help improve the line shape parameters, complex Robert–Bonamy calculations were made to determine N 2 -broadened half-widths for some 5000 transitions of HNO 3 in the ν 5 band. The intermolecular potential is a sum of electrostatic terms (dipole–quadrupole and quadrupole–quadrupole) and the atom–atom potential expanded to eighth order. The trajectory parameters were adjusted to yield better agreement with measurement. Velocity integrated calculations were made at seven temperatures in order to determine the temperature dependence of the half-widths. The half-width data are compared with available rotation band measurements. The average percent difference between the measured and calculated half-widths is −2.38 for N 2 -broadening and −0.65 for air-broadening. The temperature, vibrational, and rotational state dependence of the half-width are investigated.

47. High-resolution Fourier transform study of the ν3 fundamental band of trans-formic acid

Abstract: Using high-resolution Fourier transform spectra of trans -HCOOH recorded at 5.6 μm, we carried out an extensive analysis of the strong ν 3 fundamental band (carbonyl stretching mode) at 1776.83 cm −1 , starting from results of a previous analysis [Weber WH, Maker PD, Johns JWC, Weinberger E. J Mol Spectrosc 1987; 121: 243–60]. As pointed out in the literature, the ν 3 band is significantly perturbed by resonances due to numerous dark bands. We were able to assign series belonging to the ν 5 +ν 7 , ν 5 +ν 9 , ν 6 +ν 7 and ν 6 +ν 9 dark bands, located at 1843.48, 1792.63, 1737.96 and 1726.40 cm −1 , respectively. The model used to calculate energy levels accounts partly for the observed resonances, and enabled us to reproduce most of the observed line positions, within their experimental uncertainties. We also determined absolute line intensities with an accuracy estimated to 15%. Finally, we generated, for the first time, a list of line parameters for the 5.6 μm region of trans -formic acid.

Abstract: The goal of this study is to achieve absolute line intensities for the strong 5.7 and 3.6 μm bands of formaldehyde and to generate, for both spectral regions, an accurate list of line positions and intensities. Both bands are now used for the infrared measurements of this molecule in the atmosphere. However, in the common access spectroscopic databases there exists, up to now, no line parameters for the 5.7 μm region, while, at 3.6 μm, the quality of the line parameters is quite unsatisfactory. High-resolution Fourier transform spectra were recorded for the whole 1600–3200 cm−1 spectral range and for different path-length-pressure products conditions. Using these spectra, a large set of H2CO individual line intensities was measured simultaneously in both the 5.7 and 3.6 μm spectral regions. From this set of experimental line strength which involve, at 5.7 μm the ν2 band and, at 3.6 μm, the ν1 and ν5 bands together with nine dark bands, it has been possible to derive a consistent set of line intensity parameters for both the 5.7 and 3.6 μm spectral regions. These parameters were used to generate a line list in both regions. For this task, we used the line positions generated in [Margules L, Perrin A, Janeckova R, Bailleux S, Endres CP, Giesen TF, et al. Can J Phys, accepted] and [Perrin A, Valentin A, Daumont L, J Mol Struct 2006;780–782:28–42] for the 5.7 and 3.6 μm, respectively. The calculated band intensities derived for the 5.7 and 3.6 μm bands are in excellent agreement with the values achieved recently by medium resolution band intensity measurements. It has to be mentioned that intensities in the 3.6 μm achieved in this work are on the average about 28% stronger than those quoted in the HITRAN or GEISA databases. Finally, at 3.6 μm the quality of the intensities was significantly improved even on the relative scale, as compared to our previous study performed in 2006.

49. New high-resolution analysis of the ν1+3ν3 band of nitrogen dioxide in the near infrared spectral region

Abstract: The high-resolution Fourier-transform absorption spectrum of the 14 N 16 O 2 molecule was recorded in the near infrared 5200–6005 cm −1 spectral range. Starting from the results of a previous study [R.E. Blank, M.D. Olman, C.D. Hause, J. Mol. Spectrosc. 33 (1970) 109–118] a new analysis of the ν 1 + 3 ν 3 band located at 5984.705 cm −1 has been performed. The new assignments involve energy levels of the (1 0 3) vibrational state with rotational quantum numbers up to K a = 8 and N = 47. The spin–rotation energy levels were satisfactorily reproduced within their experimental uncertainty using a theoretical model which takes explicitly into account the Coriolis interactions between the spin-rotational levels of the (1 0 3) vibrational state and those of (1 2 2) and of (0 8 0), the anharmonic interactions between the (1 2 2) and (0 8 0) vibrational states together with the electron spin–rotation resonances within the (1 0 3), (1 2 2) and (0 8 0) vibrational states. As a consequence, precise vibrational energies, rotational, spin-rotational, and coupling constants were obtained for the triad {(1 2 2), (0 8 0), (1 0 3)} of interacting states of 14 N 16 O 2 . Using these parameters a comprehensive list of line positions and of reliable line intensities was generated for the ν 1 + 3 ν 3 band of NO 2 .

50. First determination of isotopically invariant parameters of the negative ion—Hydrogen sulfide anion (SH−)

Abstract: The first isotopically invariant Dunham analysis of a negative ion (the hydrogen sulfide anion SH−) that uses all available infrared and sub-millimeter wave experimental data on 32SH−, 33SH−, 34SH−, and 32SD− yields accurate information on Born–Oppenheimer breakdown parameters. The potential constants of expansion of the potential function up to the sixth order were calculated. Differences between the construction of the potential function based on the Morse potential and that on the base of the power series expansion are shown.
