Hydroelectric power plants have been a growth tool to supply communities with water resources and electricity. In the last seven decades, large dams increased their environmental and social impacts, which caused the fragmentation and transformation of rivers. It is estimated that around 80 million people are displaced by its construction and operation; and its greatest impact comes from reservoirs by flooding large tracts of land permanently. In this sense, this study seeks to determine the relationship between the main economic, environmental and social impacts of the construction of hydroelectric power plants.It addresses the different non-participatory methods, such as secondary data, documents, records and databases were reviewed. From this information, principal component analysis, simple regression, correlations, multivariate and 3D dispersion graphs were performed. Once the different methods were applied, a significant correlation was identified between the variables of installed capacity and number of displaced people. The study concludes that natural resources are a source of attraction for people to settle around them, the water resource is of special interest, therefore, it is not strange that when establishing a hydroelectric project, there is invariably displacement of people in order to benefit a greater number of them through the generation of energy, prevent floods and droughts among other benefits, depending on the category that the dam have, as there are single purpose and multiple purpose. It is undeniable that there is a very strong correlation between the construction of dams and the economic development of a region, however, the correlation that exists between the construction of dams and the displacement of people is also undeniable, hence the importance of this study that is presented, since it allows having clearer economic, environmental and social perspectives that allow identify whether large hydroelectric project construction projects succeed or fail in their purpose of sustainable regional development.The results indicate that by increasing the installed capacity, there is a social impact as it will increase the displacement of people due to the construction or operation of hydroelectric power plants.

Context: In the last decades, one has the impression that the term sustainable development has evolved towards social responsibility and that the activities carried out by organizations and institutions are very similar. Nevertheless, this paper presents a theoretical discussion of the contribution of social responsibility. The question of this research is: through indicators of general interest and scientific production, it is possible to determine the evolution of sustainable development towards social responsibility? Methodology: Using the non-participatory method of secondary data analysis, secondary data from articles in the Redalyc, WorldCat, Microsoft Academic, Scopus, and Web of Science databases and specialized books on the topics were analyzed. Google Ngram Viewer and Google Trends were used to compare the variations of the indicators of scientific production and interest. Results: Through secondary data analysis, it was possible to establish indicators of general interest and scientific production. A discussion is presented on the evolution of sustainable development towards social responsibility. Conclusions: The results showed that the evolution of sustainable development towards social responsibility was not surpassed over time, except at some moments and in specific geographical locations. RESUMEN Contexto: En las últimas décadas, se tiene la impresión de que el término desarrollo sustentable ha evolucionado hacia la responsabilidad social y que las actividades que realizan las organizaciones e instituciones son muy similares. No obstante, este artículo presenta una discusión teórica sobre la contribución de la responsabilidad social. La pregunta de esta investigación es: a través de indicadores de interés general y producción científica, ¿es posible determinar la evolución del desarrollo sustentable hacia la responsabilidad social? Metodología: Utilizando métodos no participativos de análisis de datos secundarios, se analizaron datos secundarios de artículos en las bases de datos Redalyc, WorldCat, Microsoft Academic, Scopus, Web of Science y libros especializados en los temas. Se utilizaron Google Ngram Viewer y Google Trends para comparar las variaciones de los indicadores de interés general y producción científica. Resultados: A través del análisis de datos secundarios, fue posible establecer indicadores de interés general y producción científica. Se presenta una discusión sobre la evolución del desarrollo sustentable hacia la responsabilidad social. Conclusiones: Los resultados mostraron que la evolución del desarrollo sustentable hacia la responsabilidad social no fue superada a través del tiempo, salvo en algunos momentos y lugares geográficos específicos.

"Social and economic development of countries or regions requires advances in science, technology and education. To accomplish this goal, governments have taken the decision of connecting, through the Internet, to share information to promote and enhance knowledge, and build up collaboration and synergic links among universities, organisations and institutions in order to manage knowledge efficiently. With these assumptions, this work describes the development of academic and research networks management in higher education institutions in Mexico to promote research, innovation and education. Concerning the research methodology, Delphi was used to gather opinions from key people; however the technique was adapted to fulfil the research design. At the beginning, there was a phase to interview experts on networks management (two Mexicans and two from other countries). On the basis of the answers, two survey instruments to investigate network management in higher education were prepared, considering variables such as leadership, planning, information and knowledge. The interviews and 51 survey questionnaires (from 14 coordinators of network communities and 37 of their members) provided information that was analysed on a Likert Scale. The survey forms were sent by e-mail using the software denominated “ onlineencuesta ” to collate results and produce graphic interpretations (Online Encuestas 2014). The results show that coordinators of academic and research networks manage their processes with effective leadership; however, long-term planning to improve projects within the networks is neglected. The same happens with the use of technology and information to innovate in network services. From the results of the study, new lines of research could be found: new knowledge agents trends in networking, comparative studies among national and international networks, among others."
