SPIRITUALITY , *LORD'S Supper , *MERCY of God - Abstract
Saint Teresa of the Child Jesus knew and lived spirituality of a reparative nature, with the notes of victimhood and devotion to the Eucharist and the Sacred Heart of Jesus typical of her time. It is a spirituality that has its origin in thanksgiving for salvation and desires to be a response to evil. In Carmel, this spirituality finds its roots in Bérulle's proposal, characterized by adoration, but in which there is no lack of elements of reparation for the offenses done to a rigorous God. Figures such as Charles de Condren or Jean Eudes will contribute to shaping this spirituality around some fundamental notes: adoration, honor, servitude, sacrifice and satisfaction of sins, with special emphasis on Eucharistic adoration and devotion to the Heart of Jesus with reparative overtones. In the 19th century the historical context of reparatory spirituality, which Thérèse receives and knows within her family, is that of the confrontation between traditional French Catholicism and theli beral and secular currents of the day. Devotion to the Holy Face is particularly important. Though reparative references are present in the writings of Saint Therese of Lisieux, the revelation she received of God's mercy causes love to replace any shadow of fear, thereby ordering justice to mercy. After his return from Italy in 1608, Peter Paul Rubens received a commission to depict an Adoration of the Magi for the Statenkamer in Antwerp's Town Hall. It was the first, grand display of his stylistic and iconographic innovations. By building on unexplored contemporary sources and close reading of the iconography, this article posits that Rubens's canvas served as a questie on various matters under discussion at the time, and was designed to induce divergent affects in the beholders. This essay addresses Jean-Luc Nancy’s “deconstruction of Christianity” and how what Christianity proclaims through enacting a deconstruction of itself brings an end to the western, hegemonic hold that Christian imperialism has perpetuated for centuries. Nancy, for his part, takes up the name of Christianity insofar as it is a religious phenomenon that signals a trajectory of thought in the West that must be discerned as providing an “exit from religion and of the expansion of the atheist world.” Since deconstructing the dominant narratives of the West means deconstructing the myth of a sovereign, autonomous deity whose reign, Nancy declares, has reached its end, Christianity utilizes its own kenotic narrative to point toward the end of religion and Eurocentrism at the same time.

Remembrance involves so many shots in the dark, part of an effort to locate the disappeared as they clock out. In the dead center of Hölderlin's hymn, Andenken, the question flares: 'But–where are my friends?' Nancy, writing on Derrida's inconceivable demise, says we await them, demanding a return in some form, drawing on a shadowing nearness, maybe an image that appears in distinction to the non-image of the living friend. Have they really elapsed – ? Or, are they bound to show up at midnight, like the Rat Man's father or Hamlet's ghost? Derrida wonders if we don't take another few laps with them, worried and anxious about their well-being over there. Ach! Give us the off chance of an apparition, a sign, an alias vanishing down the block. With Derrida Nancy turns a radical corner: We don't have at hand the syntax to say a disappearance so resolute. We have no cause to assert a fact that is not fact, the factum negativum, of one perpetually disappearing. For nobody is dead, not so dead or dead so, as if we were not still involved in naming a state of being, of being de-parted. That is why he offers a sidebar on rethinking the philosophical formulation, 'God is dead'. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

CHRISTOLOGY - Abstract
This article questions the angel Christology that Paul Holloway, in the light of Jewish apocalypticism, has detected in a hymnic passage of Paul's Philippians (2:6–11). At the end of the last century, James Dunn had read there an Adam Christology, accepted now in part and by some scholars. The new thesis of an angelic Christ proposes that he changed himself into human form, and was highly elevated after his crucifixion to bear the divine Name and share the divine throne. But we do not find in the passage itself the language of angels and thrones that this thesis seems to require. Nor has Paul developed elsewhere an Angel Christology that would support Holloway's proposal. Philippians 2:10–11 uses classic language about the adoration of the one, true God, and not of some principal angel. Holloway distances himself from using any theology or philosophy, which might have lent more stringency and precision to his argument. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

One of the most promising aspects of research into the cult tradition of the Buryats is the study of the concepts of ‘cult’ and ‘sacred’. Goals. The paper aims to analyze the issue of applying the category of ‘sacred’ developed by European religious studies to the lexical material associated with the category of the sacred in the traditional culture of the Buryats on the basis of etymological and historical-genetic research. Results. Description of the scope of application of the concept of ‘sacred’ in Buryat culture, as well as semantic analysis are necessary to avoid inadequate interpretations and extrapolations while using respective lexemes. By virtue of their conservatism, ritual terms contain invaluable evidence of the cultural and historical perspectives, preserve the valuable information that allows us to reconstruct the ethnography of the past, its social structures, spiritual culture, including the cult tradition.

Ergebnisse/Schlussfolgerungen: Die meisten Publikationen erschienen 1949 in zwei Stadtzentren.

POETRY (Literary form) ,PRAYERS ,DEPERSONALIZATION ,SOLID solutions ,GOD ,PRAYER - Abstract
The process of modernisation and secularisation leads the present society to the loss of the Christian identity and to a departure from God. The individual finds himself in a continuous search for solid bench-marks and for solutions that would offer meaning to his existence, by being aware of his identity. One can enter the sacred through poetry and prayer, stemming from love. The poetry of religious inspiration triggers a state of self-reconciliation, of harmony with the world and of accepting your own destiny. The presence of divinity in the creative act offers the poet the chance to overcome his limits, to go beyond mysteries and to become spiritually enriched. Through invocation, the poet brings offerings to the deity, thus attaining some higher knowledge followed by the illumination reflected in poetry. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Although about six decades have passed since it was first serialized in Al Ahram newspaper in 1959, Naguib Mahfouz’s Children of the Alley remains as controversial as it has always been. It has always been the target of criticism for its godless universe, yet it is very rich in its Sufi symbolism. Despite accusations of blasphemy against the novel, it is fraught with Sufi symbols. Sufi concepts such as divine adoration, hope, repentance, humility, knowledge, purification, nearness and distance, spiritual journey, recollection of God and hermitage are all evident in Children of the Alley. These concepts are analyzed in the light of the stories of Gabalawi, Adham, Gabal, Rifaa, Qassem and Arafa that are inherent in Sufism. Places in Children of the Alley are also imbued with Sufi significance such as Hind's Rock and the mansion at the top of the alley. As Mahfouz says that the allegories in his writings can be read in various ways depending on the reader, the current study claims to interpret the Sufi symbols in Children of the Alley.

This article explores some of the theological principles required for effective church worship. In 1927, Evelyn Underhill (1875–1941) outlined four “Essentials” or principles for effective liturgy, identified in the context of revisions to the Anglican Book of Common Prayer: adoration, the historic, the Eternal, and the interplay between spirit and sense. This article explores the extent to which these four theological principles are actually embodied in prayers that Underhill selected and wrote for retreat leading at The House of Retreat, Pleshey (north London, UK), recently published as Evelyn Underhill’s Prayer Book. Additional theological principles, not mentioned in Underhill’s “Essentials” essay but evident in her book of prayers, are also evaluated and exemplified. Underhill’s guidance to her spiritual directees about the value of liturgy in their spiritual lives is also briefly touched upon.

This contribution to the literature presents an in-depth analysis of the scene drawn by Leonardo da Vinci in the preparatory drawing, Adoration of the Magi, dated 1481, that is now housed at the Département des Arts Graphiques du Musée du Louvre in Paris, France. This analysis focuses on the architectural elements and highlights how the drawing discloses three distinct vanishing points/centers of vision: one for the classical architecture to the left of the scene, one for the Nativity hut, and one for the structure with stairs. If we consider the structures as belonging to the same 2D projected space, at least two must be depicted out of square, conversely, if we consider them as straight, standard structures, they cannot belong to the same 2D projected space. Given this assumption, we propose, on the one hand, some variations of the scene where the structures are straightened and projected according to only one of the viewpoints at a time, on the other hand, a set of variants of the scene are presented, considering the out-of-square structures. The scenes are generated by applying inverse perspective projections. These results prompt a discussion on possible reasons why Leonardo made these conscious or unconscious “formal errors”.

THEORY of knowledge , *CHRISTIANITY , *MYSTICAL union - Abstract
This article seeks to address an overemphasis on limiting and humbling of language that is seen to correspond with 'apophatic' theology. Drawing on the mystical theology of Nicholas of Cusa, I seek to show that, for Nicholas, apophatic spirituality can only be understood in a context in which the sway of language is grounded in wonder and actualized in praise. By means of an attentive reading of De Venatione Sapientiae 18-20, I show that Cusa explores the indissoluble relationship between adoratory speech and wisdom, grounded in a participatory metaphysics that is itself founded in love for an ineffable God. For Cusa, the language of praise is in fact the ground of all language, and precedes all other forms of speech in its character as affirming, adoring gift. It is only when language is given in the way of an ecstatic I-Thou utterance, notes Cusa, that the character of language as such shines as a mode of participatory knowledge. Thus, for Nicholas, there is a doxological dimension to all speech. Cusa's mystical notion of adoratory language offers a way to overcome the anxieties of attitudes to mysticism haunted by postmodern inflections and overly concerned by the arbitrariness and limitations of language. The author clarifies the nature of amorous consciousness - in the sense of identity of love, conditioned as infatuation, and adoration. As a result, a new analytical perspective on certain specific forms of love is established, including love of God, love of the ideal (homeland), maternal or parental love. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

- Abstract
Aim: The aim of the article is to analyze publications for children and youth published in Poland in 1945-1949 which concerned the participation of this group in various types of religious services and the sacrament of Confirmation. The enclosed bibliography includes 30 items. Research method: The autopsy analysis was carried out on the basis of specimens preserved in the National Library. The discussed collection was divided into the following subgroups: adoration, novenas, miscellaneous services - with particular emphasis on the Stations of the Cross, the rosary and the sacrament of Confirmation. Within the highlighted types, individual publications are described in a chronological order. Conclusions: Most books were published in 1949 in 12 centers. For the most part, these were anonymous texts or their authors were exclusively priests. The most important publishers were professional publishing houses such as WAM from Kraków, "Jedność" publishing house from Kielce, monastic publishing houses (of Jesuits and Redemptorists and the Sisters of Loreto) along with occasional publishers, e.g. a parish office at the Church of St. Joseph in Tczew and secular publishers. Publications about the sacrament of Confirmation are characterized by a high degree of standardization. An extremely interesting phenomenon are the various translations of the hymn Veni Creator Spiritus. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

- Abstract
Throughout his writings, John of Cross makes extensive use of the Scriptures, and he does so from a variety of angles and perspectives. The main goal of the present analysis is to shed light on the way in which, based on the geographical characteristics of Israel or the historical vicissitudes of her People, as well as a close reading of the texts and their interconnections, John of the Cross uncovers the theological, and even philosophical, basis for his mysticism. In the same way that the essence of Israel is sustained by her faith in the One God, who is the origin of both creation and covenant, the Christian believer can only adore God based on a radical experience of the the ological virtues. 37. #Adoration: Holy Hour Devotions and Millennials' Twenty-First Century Catholic Identity.

- Abstract
This historically-informed ethnographic article describes the surprising popularity of Holy Hour and Eucharistic devotions among a subculture of "devout" millennial-generation Catholics. Adoration-based prayer practices-- updated and reinterpreted for a new generation of Catholics--constitute how these millennials articulate and embody their contemporary Catholic identities. These young adults work to interpret Catholicism as relevant and distinctive through the way they pray. While they perform a variety of Catholic practices, central to their Catholic identity is a remixed version of a once-popular Holy Hour devotion. Praying with an emphasis on the real presence of Jesus in this Eucharistic devotion, millennials simultaneously knit themselves into a history of Catholic sacramental life while also relying on those devotions to help them be triumphantly Catholic in the twenty-first century. The Holy Hour connects young adults to Catholic tradition while also providing a language of Catholic exceptionalism that they use to draw boundaries around their Catholic identity in the contemporary U.S. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

The important question in this article is “How important is the construction of the tabernacle, on the sanctuary texts, especially in Exod 39:32-43 (in the larger context of Exod 25-31.35-40), for our church today, especially in Asia – in the midst of Covid-19 pandemic?” Therefore, this article tries (1) to develop some theological thoughts of the Construction of Tabernacle in Exod 39:32-43 for Our Church Today; (2) to explore their theological implications for our situation today – in the midst of Covid-19 pandemic; and (3) to improve some theological thoughts on “Tabernacle” in the Catholic Church, especially regarding Sacramentum Caritatis 69 which describes the location of the tabernacle in the church by using the strong words, “The correct positioning of the tabernacle”. We try to go deeper on it by examining the richness of theological thoughts behind “the tabernacle” – not just focus on “the location” but try to go beyond.

The true religious feeling is rooted in adoration. The taste of adoration is derived from the experience of God which indeed shake one’s soul. On one side, the experience of God leads to the recognition of God as the Great Creator of the universe. In this case, God is experienced as the everything. On the other side, it causes that human being encounters the self-recognition as a helpless creature. One feels as a nothingness of creature here. The feeling of adoration, therefore, has a religious structure in human soul that has a direction to God. As the structure of soul, the adoration is likely to be subjective which means that the subject experiences God (the world of ideas) and at the same time, it is objective that God is experienced by the subject (the real world). The object of the experience of adoration is, particularly, transcendent. Finally, the sense of adoration is needed to revive the living of faith for the believers.

Taizé’s music comes from an ecumenical monastic order with an intense devotion to peace and justice through prayer and meditation. It was founded by Brother Roger Louis Schütz-Marsauche in 1940 in the French village of Taizé and later spread throughout the world. Now the Taizé community is also growing in Indonesia, especially in the city of Yogyakarta. The Taizé community introduced its model of worship consisting of prayer, music, and meditation. The Taizé community entered Indonesia through Ursuline nuns’ work, and some of them later chose Taizé music as their worship accompaniment. In Yogyakarta, Taizé music is being used formally in adoration worship, namely The Holy Hour Worship by the Congregational Scholastic Congregation of SCJ Yogyakarta. Simultaneously, an ecumenical community called DNTZ Yogyakarta sings Taizé music in ecumenical fellowship activities. These are voluntary activities which are performed at different places and open for public. These two models of Taizé music in Catholics and Protestants communities have become a unique phenomenon as both communities play an essential role in its development by helping each other and working together in harmony.

François Mauriac’s novel The Desert of Love (1949) puts the reader before an experienced sociologist who is skillfully able to analyze the most mysterious human emotions and feelings. The writer's starting point is that people are similar in feelings but different in behavior. He severely criticized the aristocratic class and uncovered its defects and faults. The novelist presents Courege's family as an example of the aristocratic class. It is a family torn by hatred, selfishness and disagreements due to absence of intimacy and love. This poisoned environment pushes the father and his son, Raymond, to search away for emotional ventures and banned relations to satiate their emotional thirst. Unfortunately, they fall in deep love with the same woman unintentionally. She does not satisfy their burning passion as she leaves them with much thirst for love. They become like getting out of frying pan into the fire. Finally, Mauriac figures out the reasons of all problems in the absence of love and passion which represent the key for welfare and happiness. The writer reveals his stylistic skill and unparalleled literary ability in describing the whole atmosphere which leaves the reader amused and captivated in passion battle , a battle with no winner. The paper is divided into two basic topics: .Dryness of family relations 1- .Emotional ventures and illegal relations 2- The research paper depends on objective analytic approach via topic unity analysis .

The implementation of multidisciplinary research approaches is an essential prerequisite to obtain comprehensive insights into the life and works of the old masters and their timeline in the production of the arts. In this study, traditional art history, cultural heritage, and natural science methods were combined to shed light on an Adoration of the Shepherds painting by Jacques Jordaens (1593–1678), which until now had been considered as a copy. From dendrochronological analysis of the wooden support, it was concluded that the planks in the panel painting were made from Baltic oak trees felled after 1608. An independent dating based on the panel maker’s mark, and the guild’s quality control marks suggests a production period of the panel between 1617 and 1627. Furthermore, the size of the panel corresponds to the dimension known as salvator, which was commonly used for religious paintings during the period 1615 to 1621. Finally, the interpretation of the stylistic elements of the painting suggests that it was made by Jordaens between 1616 and 1618. To conclude, from the synthesis of: (i) dendrochronological analysis, (ii) panel makers’ punch mark and Antwerp Guild brand marks, (iii) re-examination of secondary sources, and (iv) stylistic comparisons to other Jordaens paintings, we suggest that the examined Adoration of the Shepherds should be considered as an original by Jordaens and likely painted in the period 1617–1618. The study is a striking example of the effectiveness of a multidisciplinary approach to investigate panel paintings.

Ingratiation refers to acts of flattery, typically given by a low-power person to a high-power one, performed to gain acceptance and approval. This study investigates ingratiation in the religious setting, asking whether people feeling high levels of guilt or shame tend to manifest such ingratiating behavior toward God. The study aimed to examine the mediating role of prayer in the relationship between guilt and shame and ingratiation toward God. A total of 148 respondents (80 women and 68 men) participated in the study. The Religious Ingratiation Scale, the Content of Prayer Scale, and the Guilt and Shame Proneness Scale were applied to the research. The results showed that feeling guilty increased the tendency to ingratiation toward God. Prayer was the significant mediator in this relationship. People high in guilt tend to flatter God by offering more adoration and fewer repine prayers.

The article presents the issue of Eucharist as sacrifice according to the writings of Saint Ursula Ledochowska. The Eucharist is a re-presentation and perpetuation of the sacrifice of Jesus, offered on the Cross. Mother Ledochowska demonstrates that it is impossible to separate the mystery of the real presence of Christ under the species of bread and wine from His sacrifice. She encourages us to adopt the attitude of love for Jesus–the Host, the attitude of gratitude and adoration of Eucharistic Christ and to live the sacrificial and selfless love for the others. Saint Ursula points especially to the vocation of the consecrated persons, who dedicate themselves totally to God.

In Christianity, praying beads and praying ropes are used by pious people to keep counting their prayers. By the third century AD, these beads were mentioned in Egypt through the writings of the first Deserts Fathers. Thus, they were used in Egypt even before using the Dominican Rosary in Europe in the thirteenth century AD. The invention of praying ropes was attributed to St. Anthony who tied a leather rope every time he started praying “Kyrie Elesion”. In Coptic art, praying beads and praying ropes are represented either in the right hand or the left hand of prominent monastic characters. They were accompanied with the cross, the staff, and with the adoration gesture made by one or both hands. Icons from the churches of Old Cairo, monasteries of Wadi El-Natrun, and the monasteries of the Red Sea and Upper Egypt reveal the shape of praying beads and praying ropes. These hand objects are still used in modern monastic life forming a tangible element of the Coptic heritage of Egypt.
