The objective of the current study was to extract 2-(benzhydryl sulfinyl)-N-sec-butylacetamide), a novel compound from fig, and then determine its role in enhancing trastuzumab-triggered phagocytic killing of SKOV-3 cancer cells. In this study, Soxhlet was used to extract the compound from the mature and air-dried fig fruits. The production of the isolated extracts was enhanced by using polar and non-polar solvents. Several solvents, such as methanol, ethyl acetate, chloroform, and n-hexane, were used to isolate the effective compound 2-(benzhydryl sulfinyl)-N-sec-butylacetamide) from the organic layer. UV-spectroscopy, FT-IR, 1H-NMR, and 13C-NMR were applied to identify the purified compound. The in vitro and in vivo assays demonstrated that the 2-(benzhydryl sulfinyl)-N-sec-butylacetamide) can increase the activity of the phagocytic cells, via the interaction with FcY receptors, along with trastuzumab, and the pathway can use a model for the therapeutic strategy for effective treatment of ovarian cancer cells.

A new series of organic tellurium compounds containing pyrazole derivatives were prepared. Initially, penta-2,4-dione-3-tellurocyanate (1) was prepared by the refluxing equimolar amounts of potassium tellurocyanate with 3-chloro-2,4-pentadione. Compound 1 was oxidized by excess bromine to obtain the corresponding tribromide (2). The cycloaddition reaction of compound 1 with phenylhydrazine formed 3,5-dimethyl-1-phenyl-4-tellurocyanatopyrazole (3 (in good yield. Treatment of compound 3 with excess bromine gave 3,5-dimethyl-1-phenylpyrazole-4-yltellurium tribromide (4) in an excellent yield. Reduction of compound 3 with a solution of 10% NaOH gave the corresponding ditelluride (5) in excellent yield. Compounds with a general formula of ArTeX3; X = Cl (6) or I (7) were synthesized in excellent yields by reacting compound 3 with excess thionyl chloride or iodine, respectively. Refluxing ditelluride 5 with activated copper powder gave the corresponding telluride (8) in very good yield. Finally, tellurated pyrazole dihalides compounds 9–11 were prepared by reacting 8 with equimoles of the thionyl chloride, bromine and iodine, respectively. The structures of compounds 1–11 were elucidated according to their CHN elemental analyses and FTIR, 1H- and 13C-NMR spectroscopies and mass spectrometry. The antibacterial activity for both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria were evaluated. The tested compounds showed a good degree against the growth of fungi and bacteria. Most the antimicrobial activity of the prepared compounds was better than fluconazole.

A new(2-(2-(5-Mercapto-1,3,4-thiadiazol-2-yl)hydrazinyl)-3,5-dinitrophenyl) tellurium tribromidecompound(2)was prepared by the reaction of(2-(2-(5-Mercapto-1,3,4-thiadiazol-2-yl)hydrazinyl)-3,5-dinitrophenyl)mercury(II)chloride(1)with tellurium tetrabromide in 1:1ratioin dry dioxane solvent. Later compound(2)reacted withsolution of sodium pyrrolidenedithiocarbamate, sodium piperidinedithiocarbamate or sodium morpholinedithiocarbamate in a 1:3 ratio to produce new Tri (pyrrolidinedithiocarbamato)(2-(2-(5-mercapto-1,3,4-thiadiazol-2-yl) hydrazinyl)-3,5-dinitrophenyl)tellurium(3), Tri(piperidinedithiocarbamato)(2-(2-(5-mercapto-1,3,4-thiadiazol-2-yl)hydrazinyl)-3,5-dinitrophenyl)tellurium(4)or Tri (morpholinedithiocarbamato)(2-(2-(5-mercapto-1,3,4-thiadiazol-2-yl)- hydrazinyl)-3,5-dinitrophenyl) tellurium(5),respectively.The structures of all newly synthesized compounds were assigned on the infrared, uv-visible,1H&13C NMR andmassspectra.The antibacterial activity of the new compounds were tested with agar diffusion method against the bacteria strainsStaphylococcus aureusandEscherichia coli. &nbsp

A new series of organotellurium compounds based on quinoline were prepared by the reaction of 8-(quinolyl)mercuric chloride (1) with tellurium tetrabromide in 1:1 and 1:2 mole ratio in dry dioxane to obtain 8-(quinolyl)tellurium tribromide (2) and bis [8-(quinolyl)]tellurium dibromide (3), respectively, in good yields. Reaction of compounds 2 and 3 by ethanolic hydrazine hydrate gave bis [8-(quinolyl)]ditelluride (4) and bis [8-(quinolyl)]telluride (5) , respectively, in moderate yields. Furthermore, the ligand properties of bis [8-(quinolyl)] telluride (5) will be carried out with K 2 PtCl 4 , Na 2 PdCl 4 and RhCl 3 .3H 2 O. All compounds were characterized by spectroscopic data and elemental analysis.

Measurements of the third-order nonlinear susceptibility of 5′, 5′′-dibromo-o-cresolsulfophthalein (BCP) in a chloroform solvent were studied using a cw diode laser at 532 nm as the source of excitation, both in solution and as a poly methyl methacrylate solid film, respectively. The optical response was characterized by measuring the intensity-dependent refractive index (n 2) of the medium using the Z-scan technique. The sample showed negative and large nonlinear refractive index values of the order of 10−7 cm2/W and reverse saturable absorption with high values of the nonlinear absorption coefficient of the order of 10−4 cm/W. The nonlinear refractive index was found to vary with the concentration. The optical constants of the film were studied and the dispersion of the refractive index was discussed in terms of the Wemple–DiDomenico single oscillator model. Thermal lens technique was applied to investigate the thermo-optical properties (dn/dT) and the thermal diffusivity (D). In this technique a pump beam was aligned collinearly. A localized change in the refractive index of the sample due to the thermal heating produced a thermal lens that was then detected by the study of the focusing and defocusing of the pump beam. Morphological of a one-dimensional microscopic image surface profile scan and histogram curve of the film surface has been studied.

New organotellurium compounds are derived from 1-butyl-5H-tetrazole (1). 1-butyl tetrazole-5-yl mercury (II) chloride (2) was synthesized from the reaction of compound 1 with mercury acetate and sodium chloride. The 1:1 and 1:2 ratio reactions of tellurium tetrabromide with compound 2 gave 1-butyl tetrazole-5-yl tellurium tribromide (3) and di (1-butyl tetrazole-5-yl) tellurium dibromide (4), respectively. The reduction of compounds 3 and 4 by the alcoholic solution of aqueous hydrazine gave di (1-butyl tetrazole-5-yl) ditelluride (5) and di (1-butyl tetrazole-5-yl) telluride (6), respectively. The reaction of compound 5 with iodine and thionyl chloride gave 1-butyl tetrazole-5-yl tellurium triiodide (7) and 1-butyl tetrazole-5-yl tellurium trichloride (8), respectively. The reaction of compound 6 with iodine and thionyl chloride gave di (1-butyl tetrazole-5-yl) tellurium diiodide (9) and di (1-butyl tetrazole-5-yl) tellurium dichloride (10), respectively. The prepared compounds were characterized and the molar conductivities proved that the compounds 2–3 and 7–10 behaved as electrolytes (1:1).

A series of tellurated azo compounds [i.e. (4-HOC6H4N = N-Ar)TeBr3 and (4-HOC6H4N = N-Ar)2TeBr2, where Ar = 5-BrC6H3, 5-CH3C6H3 and 5-NO2C6H3] were prepared by the reaction of the corresponding 2-(4-hydroxyphenylazo)aryl mercury chloride with tellurium tetrabromide in 1:1 and 2:1 mole ratio, respectively in dry dioxane as a solvent. The reduction of (4-HOC6H4N = N-Ar)TeBr3 by hydrazine hydrate gave the corresponding ditelluride (i.e., (4-HOC6H4N = N-Ar)2Te2). Treatment of (4-HOC6H4N = N-Ar)2TeBr2 with hydrazine hydrate afforded the corresponding tellurides, (4-HOC6H4N = N-Ar)2Te), in good yields. The structures of all newly synthesized compounds were assigned on the basis of their elemental and spectroscopic data. The antibacterial activity of tellurated azo compounds along with mercurated azo compounds was tested with agar diffusion method against the bacteria strains Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli. The antibacterial activities of tellurated azo compounds were in some cases equal or better than those of the reference drug. The mercurated azo compounds were found to be the more antibacterial activity of than those of tellurated azo compounds.

Two new organotellurium compounds containing azomethine and azo groups, [2-(2-hydroxynaphthylazo)phenyl][2-(2-methoxybenzylideneamino)-5-methylphenyl]tellurium dibromide (P1) and [2-(2-hydroxynaphthylazo)-5-nitrophenyl][2-(2-methoxy benzylideneamino)-5-methyl phenyl]tellurium dibromide (P2) were synthesized and doped in polyvinylprodidone (PVP) matrix. The nonlinear optical (NLO) properties of these compounds and doped polymer were studied using Z-scan technique at 532 nm. The Z-scan results reveal that the sample solutions and films exhibit self-defocusing nonlinearity. The P2/PVP solutions investigated here exhibit good optical power limiting.

A new series of 2-(2-hydroxynaphthylazo)arylmercury chlorides (Ia–Ib) were prepared by azo coupling of diazonium salts of 2-aminophenyl-, 2-amino-5-bromophenyl-, 2-amino-5-methylphenyl-, and 2-amino-5-nitrophenylmercury chlorides with 2-naphthol. Reactions of compounds Ia–Ib with tellurium tetrabromide in 1:1 and 2:1 molar ratios in dry dioxane gave 2-(2-hydroxynaphthylazo)aryltellurium tribromides (IIa–IId) and bis(2-(2-hydroxynaphthylazo)aryl)tellurium dibromides (IIIa–IIId), respectively, in good yields. Reduction of compounds IIa–IIc and IIIc–IIId by ethanolic hydrazine hydrate gave the corresponding ditellurides (IVa–IVc) and tellurides (Vc–Vd), respectively, in moderate to good yields. Treatment of compounds IIIb and IIId with [Pd(PPh3)4] in acetonitrile gave new symmetrical biaryls containing azo groups. All compounds were characterized by spectroscopic data and elemental analysis. GRAPHICAL ABSTRACT
