Obesity is a global health problem that affects not only adults and older adults, but also children and adolescents, thus recognizing the need to adapt the educational intervention programs of the Ministry of Education, in partnership with the Ministry of Public Health, to adapt them to the children's universe. It has been demonstrated in practice that physical activity is an ideal space for the educational inclusion of all schoolchildren; we have moved from the paradigm of integration to the paradigm of inclusion, where everyone enjoys differentiated attention according to their needs. It is the authors' purpose to communicate about an educational intervention applied to 9-year-old children with obesity and overweight, with actions that modify their lifestyle and educate the family to face this alarming health problem in this age group.

Background: Pulmonary congestion is a strong predictor of mortality and cardiovascular events in chronic kidney disease (CKD); however, the effects of the mild form on functionality have not yet been investigated. The objective of this study was to assess the influence of mild pulmonary congestion on diaphragmatic mobility (DM) and activities of daily living (ADL) in hemodialysis (HD) subjects, as well as compare ADL behavior on dialysis and non-dialysis days. In parallel, experimentally induce CKD in mice and analyze the resulting pulmonary and functional repercussions. Methods: Thirty subjects in HD underwent thoracic and abdominal ultrasonography, anthropometric assessment, lung and kidney function, respiratory muscle strength assessment and symptoms analysis. To measure ADL a triaxial accelerometer was used over seven consecutive days. Twenty male mice were randomized in Control and CKD group. Thoracic ultrasonography, TNF-α analysis in kidney and lung tissue, exploratory behavior and functionality assessments were performed. Results: Mild pulmonary congestion caused a 26.1% decline in DM (R2 = .261; P = .004) and 20% reduction in walking time (R2 = .200; P = .01), indicating decreases of 2.23 mm and 1.54 min, respectively, for every unit increase in lung comet-tails. Regarding ADL, subjects exhibited statistically significant differences for standing (P = .002), walking (P = .034) and active time (P = .002), and number of steps taken (P = .01) on days with and without HD. In the experimental model, CKD resulted in increased levels of TNF-α on kidneys (P = .037) and lungs (P = .02), attenuation of exploratory behavior (P = .01) and significant decrease in traveled distance (P = .034). Thoracic ultrasonography of CKD mice showed presence of B-lines. Conclusion: The mild pulmonary congestion reduced DM and walking time in subjects undergoing HD. Individuals were less active on dialysis days. Furthermore, the experimental model implies that the presence of pulmonary congestion and inflammation may play a decisive role in the low physical and exploratory performance of CKD mice.

Introduction: Some previous evidence supports the fact that physical activity is associated with resilience in different populations; however, the results are inconsistent. Objective: To determine the prevalence of resilience; and the association between physical activity and resilience during the pandemic in a sample of medical students. Methods: Cross-sectional study in 508 medical students. Resilience was categorized as adequate and low, while physical activity was categorized as low, medium and high. To assess the strength and magnitude of association, Poisson regression with robust variance was used. The results were presented in crude and adjusted prevalence ratios (aPR) with their 95% confidence intervals (95% CI). The confounding variables were sex, academic year; having been diagnosed with COVID-19 and having relatives diagnosed with COVID-19. Results: The prevalence of adequate resilience was 40.35%. In the multivariable regression analysis, the presence of those who performed high physical activity increased the prevalence of adequate resilience by 1.56 times (aPR=1.56; 95% CI 1.23-1.97) compared to those who performed low physical activity. No association with moderate physical activity was found. Conclusions: Less than half of the medical students presented an adequate level of resilience. At the same time, an association was found with high physical activity.

PHYSICAL activity , *PHYSICAL fitness , *COGNITIVE training , *COGNITIVE ability , *HEMODIALYSIS patients , *MINI-Mental State Examination - Abstract
This study aimed to correlate cognitive function with the physical activity level (pal) and physical fitness over three years of patients undergoing hemodialysis and to compare the pal and physical fitness over this period of patients with and without cognitive problems. Therefore, a cohort study was carried out, including patients evaluated between 2018 and 2020, through the Mini-Mental State Exam, functional physical record, Elbow Flexion test, Sit-to-stand test, Handgrip Strength test (hgs), and by the physical activity monitor. Data analysis was performed using the Pearson's Correlation test and the paired Student's t-test and its non-parametric equivalent, when necessary, with a significance level of 5%. The results showed that cognitive function assessed in the different years of the research was positively correlated with physical fitness and with pal: in 2018, with hgs (r = 0.313; p = 0.019); in 2019, with cardiorespiratory fitness (r = 0.288; p = 0.038), with hgs (r = 235; p = 0.033) and with pal on hd days (r = 359; p = 0.010) and on days without treatment (r = 314; p = 0.026); and in 2020, with the pal up to date without hd (r = 387; p = 0.014). In addition, patients without probable cognitive deficit had higher pal and physical fitness values in all years of analysis compared to those with the probable cognitive deficit: in 2018, this difference was significant in hgs and pal on a day contrary to hemodialysis; in 2019, in cardiorespiratory fitness and pal on a day contrary to treatment; and in 2020, in cardiorespiratory fitness, hgs and pal on both days. It is concluded that patients with higher pal and better physical fitness had a better cognitive function, suggesting the importance of physical activity practice as an effective alternative in improving physical fitness and, consequently, cognitive function in hd patients.

- Abstract
Obesity is a global health problem that affects not only adults and older adults, but also children and adolescents, thus recognizing the need to adapt the educational intervention programs of the Ministry of Education, in partnership with the Ministry of Public Health, to adapt them to the children's universe. It has been demonstrated in practice that physical activity is an ideal space for the educational inclusion of all schoolchildren; we have moved from the paradigm of integration to the paradigm of inclusion, where everyone enjoys differentiated attention according to their needs.

CLINICAL trials , *SEDENTARY behavior , *PRESCHOOL children , *WEB databases , *SCIENCE databases - Abstract
Objective. To synthesize the findings on correlates of physical activity (PA) and sedentary behavior (SB) in South American children. Method. A search was carried out from June 24 to October 27, 2020, in the LILACS, PubMed, SciELO, Scopus and Web of Science databases. To broaden the search, the references of identified review articles were examined, and a panel of experts was surveyed. Observational and interventional studies conducted with South-American children from zero to 5 years of age were included. Results. Of 3 111 articles initially identified, 18 were eligible: 14 observational studies, 12 studies conducted in Brazil, and 17 studies investigating preschool children (3 to 5 years of age). In addition to Brazil, only Chile and Ecuador were represented. PA and SB were measured by accelerometers in seven studies; however, high variability was observed in the instruments and cut-off points used. Although children were classified as physically active in 12 studies, six studies showed that they spent considerable time in SB. Most studies assessed the individual (14 studies) and interpersonal (11 studies) domains, followed by the environmental (eight studies) and political (one study) domains. Interventions in the school context (four studies) increased PA levels and reduced the time spent in SB. However, the evidence from cross-sectional and interventional studies presented a high risk of bias. Conclusions. Given the knowledge gap identified in this review, studies with robust designs, covering additional South American countries are warranted, focusing on infants and children under 3 years of age and investigating correlates in the environmental and political domains. In Peru, one of the first interventions to flattened the epidemiologic curve of the pandemic was quarantine that changed eating behavior, physical activity and mental health of the population. Objective: to determine modifications in eating behavior, physical activity and mental health in young adults before and after the quarantine. Methods: cohort study involving 384 adults from 18 to 24 years of age that were subjected to a virtual interview and application of an international questionnaire to evaluate changings in eating behavior, physical activity and mental health contrasted by Chi square. Results: an increase in the distribution of daily foods [breakfast (p<0.001), morning snack (p<0.05), lunch (p<0.001), afternoon snack (p<0.001), dinner (p<0.05)] and an increase in ingestion of fruits (p=0.005) and reduction in the ingestion of fast food (p<0.05) and candies (p=0.03). Physical activity decreases specially in males vs females (28.4% vs. 25.3%) and there was a reduction in the total number of sleep hours, mental health was severely affected. Conclusions: quarantine induced variations in eating behavior, reduction in physical activity and increase in mental health disorders. These modifications put the population at risk for weight gain or obesity and eventually to non-transmissible diseases. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Introduction: The paramedian lobule of the cerebellum is involved in learning to correctly perform motor skills through practice. Dendritic spines are dynamic structures that regulate excitatory synaptic stimulation. We studied plastic changes occurring in the dendritic spines of Purkinje cells from the paramedian lobule of rats during motor learning. Methods: Adult male rats were trained over a 6-day period using an acrobatic motor learning paradigm; the density and type of dendritic spines were determined every day during the study period using a modified version of the Golgi method. Results: The learning curve reflected a considerable decrease in the number of errors made by rats as the training period progressed. We observed more dendritic spines on days 2 and 6, particularly more thin spines on days 1, 3, and 6, fewer mushroom spines on day 3, fewer stubby spines on day 1, and more thick spines on days 4 and 6. Conclusion: The initial stage of motor learning may be associated with fast processing of the underlying synaptic information combined with an apparent “silencing” of memory consolidation processes, based on the regulation of the neuronal excitability.
