Over the last few decades, remarkable technical advancements, including artificial intelligence, machine learning, big data, blockchain, cloud computing, and the Internet of Things, have emerged. These tools have the ability to change the accounting process. This study aims to conduct a systematic literature review on using the Internet of Things (IoT), blockchain, and eXtensible Business Reporting Language (XBRL) in a single accounting information system (AIS) to enhance the quality of digital financial reports. This paper employs a systematic literature review (SLR) methodology, specifically, by adopting the widely accepted PRISMA technique. The final sample of this study included 309 related studies from 2013 to 2023. Our findings highlight the lack of literature related to the integration of these three types of technologies within a unified AIS. This study is extremely significant because it proposes a new research stream that explores the possibility of integrating IoT, blockchain, and XBRL in a single accounting system, yielding a plethora of benefits to the accounting field. However, the potential benefits of such an integration are evident, including enhanced transparency, real-time reporting capabilities, and improved data security. Our paper's main contribution is that it is the first paper, to the best of our knowledge, to explore the integration of these three technologies. We also identified important gaps in the research and pointed out ways for future research to somehow take a lead in exploring further how this integrated system is affecting accounting practices. This study aims to determine how much users accept accounting information systems when preparing financial reports. Quantitative methods with path analysis techniques are used in this study to facilitate analysis. The population and samples in this study were 30 respondents from users of the accounting information system of the Brayat Pinuji Foundation social organisation with ten social care units spread across the territory of Indonesia. The results obtained from this study are a significant positive effect of perceived convenience on perceived usefulness: perceived convenience on attitude of use, perceived usefulness on attitude of use, perceived convenience on the intensity of usage behaviour, perceived usefulness on the intensity of usage behaviour; usage attitude on the intensity of usage behaviour; and the intensity of usage behaviour on the real use of accounting information systems.

Citizen Entrepreneurship (CE) is a promising approach to tackle global challenges such as climate change, poverty and social inequality, but also local problems. This paper explores how CE projects empower citizens to actively engage in their communities, focus on local needs and promote sustainable solutions. In doing so, theoretical frameworks such as Ostrom's commons theory, innovation as a social good and Sen and Nussbaum's capabilities approach provide insights into the foundations of CE. Methods for engaging citizens encompass a spectrum from participatory research approaches to leveraging digital platforms, thereby promoting collaboration and facilitating the exchange of knowledge among a diverse array of community stakeholders. Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) are one of the strong drivers of the people's economy. Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) have an important role in the economic and industrial growth of a country, a business entity, especially MSMEs, is required to make changes to increase its competitiveness, this is because many small and medium entrepreneurs start from family / home industries so that their management is not managed properly. Most of the research related to Strategic Management Accounting to date has focused on management accounting practices in manufacturing companies and little attention has been paid to the use of management accounting techniques in MSMEs. Banks are a key component of MSMEs. This study aims to examine the effect of Strategic Management Accounting, Accounting Information Systems, and Management Control Systems on MSME Performance moderated by Financial Technology. This study took the research population from MSME companies in Jakarta, Bandung. The type of data used in this study is primary data which is used as a sample. The research method used in this study is a quantitative research method. The sample was selected using the purposive sampling method. To test the hypothesis, this research uses multiple linear regression analysis. Based on the results of the study, it shows that the variables of Strategic Management Accounting and Accounting Information Systems have a significant effect on MSME Performance, but the Management Control System does not have a significant effect on MSME Performance. Financial Technology strengthens the influence of Strategic Management Accounting and Accounting Information Systems on MSME Performance, but Financial Technology does not strengthen the influence of Management Control Systems on MSME Performance. This research aims to examine the influence of the quality of human resources on the quality of financial reports, the influence of the use of information technology on the quality of financial reports, the influence of accounting information systems on the quality of financial reports, the influence of the quality of human resources on the quality of financial reports mediated by accounting information systems and to test the influence utilization of information technology on the quality of financial reports mediated by the accounting information system at the DPRD Secretariat of East Kalimantan Province. The sample in this study was 40 employees of the finance section of the DPRD Secretariat of East Kalimantan Province taken by census. The data analysis method in this research is based on Partial Least Square (PLS). The results of the research show that the quality of human resources has a significant influence on the quality of financial reports with a p-value of 0.000 < 0.05, the use of information technology has a significant influence on the quality of financial reports with a p-value of 0.022 < 0.05, the system Accounting information has a significant influence on the quality of financial reports with a p-value of 0.031 < 0.05, and the quality of human resources has a significant influence on the quality of financial reports moderated by the accounting information system with a p-value of 0.0026 < 0, 05 and the use of information technology has a significant influence on the quality of financial reports, moderated by the accounting information system with a p-value of 0.042 < 0.05. Accounting information systems (AIS) are primarily designed to convert financial data into usable financial and management information. Their effectiveness or success, which shows the extent to which the requirements of their users are satisfied, is an essential factor in decision making. Previous research has found that user satisfaction is a particularly widely utilized and indicative measure of information system (IS) success. In this setting, the success or failure of an AIS is a crucial issue for all companies since a particular IS cannot be appropriate for everyone, especially in the case of accounting software that has to satisfy the requirements of its users. Furthermore, given the hotel industry's information-intensive and competitive character, the AIS user satisfaction of hotel financial and accounting executives can be vital to their performance and the hotel's operational efficiency. The aim of this research is to investigate a number of factors that influence AIS user satisfaction in the post-implementation period in the case of the Greek hotel industry. The findings of our empirical study show that system quality, information quality, system use, service quality, firm's size, years of system use, information technology integration, and organic structure have a positive effect on user satisfaction with AIS. On the contrary, statistical analysis shows that users' level of education is negatively correlated with AIS user satisfaction. Finally, the current research findings contribute theoretically to the IS and accounting literature, and they also shine a light on the managerial implications for IS developers, hotel managers, and financial executives. Accounting Information Systems (AIS) are becoming widespread among Bangladeshi banks. The purpose of this study is to assess how automated AIS affects Bangladeshi commercial banks. Purposeful sampling and a randomized block design were used to disseminate questionnaires to 400 respondents from Chattogram, Bangladesh, a commercial port city. Five-point Likert scale close-ended questions assess eight aspects of AIS usage and benefits: infrastructure, technological resources, understanding ability, operational comparability, relevance, reliability, decision-making, and organizational performance. Descriptive analysis, Kolmogorov--Smirnov test, Shapiro-Wilk test, factor analysis with Kaiser-Meyer-Olkin test, Cronbach's alpha, one-sample Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test, Kendall's tau-b Correlation Coefficient, Mann-Whitney test, Kruskal- WallisH test, and structural equation model were performed using MS Excel 2016, IBM SPSS Statistics 26, and IBM SPSS. The model was validated using convergent and discriminant validity tests. The study found that technological resources, operational comparability, relevance, and dependability influence AIS-based decision-making, while infrastructure and understandability do not. Private banks and AIS-trained personnel make more AIS-based decisions than public banks and non-AIS-trained workers. Regular and frequent decisionmakers use AIS more than sporadic decision-makers. There is no effect of gender or job experience on AIS-based decision-making. Finally, AIS-based decision-making improved organizational performance. This study examines the impact of Accounting Information Systems (AIS) on financial reporting quality in Indonesian retail firms while examining the moderating influence of internal control and user capability. Data from 110 employees in the accounting and finance departments of MSME-scale retail companies in Jakarta were analyzed using SEM-PLS. The findings underscore the significant role of AIS in enhancing financial reporting accuracy, timeliness, and completeness, thereby ensuring reliability and regulatory compliance. Moreover, internal control mechanisms were found to moderate AIS effects, safeguarding assets and enhancing operational efficiency within retail firms. Additionally, user capability emerged as a crucial moderator, influencing data interpretation and reporting timeliness. The study emphasizes the pivotal contribution of AIS to improving financial reporting quality in Indonesian retail contexts. Theoretical implications validate AIS's significance in financial reporting, while practical implications stress the importance of effective AIS implementation for retail firms. Future research avenues could explore additional factors impacting reporting quality and conduct cross-sector studies on AIS effects for a comprehensive understanding.

In the context of a dynamic and competitive business environment, SME actors must also possess a competitive advantage to succeed in the market. One strategy that can be pursued to achieve a competitive advantage is through the optimization of employee performance. This research aims to analyze the relationship between strategy and SME performance, encompassing the examination of innovation and accounting information systems as mediating variables. The study employs Structured Equation Modeling based on Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS) analysis. The research involves 435 respondents who are SME actors with business units located in the province of Bengkulu. The findings indicate that strategy has a positive influence on SME performance. Furthermore, strategy also positively influences innovation and accounting information systems. In the context of indirect effects, both innovation and accounting information systems exhibit partial mediating effects in accommodating the relationship between strategy and SME performance. The results of this study emphasize that SME actors should be capable of crafting appropriate business strategies through various business innovations and improvements in accounting information systems, thereby enhancing SME performance.

In facing the digital era and a more competitive environment, every organization is required to increasingly implement information systems that can facilitate various organizational needs. Cloud Based Accounting Information Systems (CBAIS), as part of information systems (IS), have also gained attention of organizations. This research was conducted to obtain empirical evidence of the interest in using CBAIS in various medium-sized companies in Indonesia measured using Institutional Theory. The data analysis tool used was SEM- PLS. The respondents in this study were accounting and finance departments employees working for logistics companies that still use conventional accounting information systems (non-cloud-based). A total of 89 responses were collected from 5 logistics companies in Indonesia. The research results indicated that mimetic pressure positively influenced the interest in using CBAIS, coercive pressure does not positively influence the interest in using CBAIS, and normative pressure positively influenced the interest in using CBAIS. An interesting aspect of this study is the absence of regulation or even demand in Indonesia that obligates the use of CBAIS. Hence, the use of CBAIS has not become a commonly adopted best practice in logistics companies.

The local government financial report is a form of accountability report for the implementation of the Regional Revenue and Expenditure Budget that can be calculated with money. This study aims to assess the effect of utilization of accounting information systems, human resource competencies, and government accounting standards on the quality of local government financial reports. In this study, researchers used a quantitative descriptive approach. The information collection method used is through a questionnaire. The number of samples was 95 respondents who were determined using purposive testing techniques. Data analysis was performed with multiple linear regression models with data quality testing and classical assumption tests. The results of this study indicate that the utilization of accounting information systems, human resource competencies, and the application of government accounting standards have a significant effect on the quality of local government financial reports. This case builds students' critical thinking skills and knowledge of how Big Data analytics are used in an audit. Using real local government data, students will utilize Tableau to create and analyze visualizations to answer questions regarding governmental entities' fiscal health, search for anomalies, and make recommendations to management. These skills are increasingly necessary in today's workplace and will also be more heavily tested on the CPA Exam beginning in 2024. Additionally, this case addresses AACSB Business Accreditation Standard 4, which calls for critical thinking and current, forward-looking curriculum, and AACSB Accounting Accreditation Standard 5, which calls for the integration of information technology into the curriculum and preparing students to adapt to emerging technologies. Evidence suggests this case improves students' confidence with Big Data analytics and is a useful learning tool. This summary is about a research article that examines the factors that influence the effectiveness of accounting information systems in small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Hanoi, Vietnam. The study collected data from surveys distributed to directors, chief accountants, and accounting staff in 350 SMEs. The results indicate that factors such as managerial knowledge, external expert support, organizational characteristics, user participation in the system, and managerial support significantly impact the effectiveness of the accounting information system. As one of the core components of enterprise information system, accounting information systems is facing double pressure from the enterprise management environment and the development of accounting discipline, and the functional application-oriented accounting information system is unable to meet the needs of modern enterprise management. To improve the accounting efficiency of enterprises, this paper proposes a process-aware accounting information system based on data mining to improve business process management, hoping to provide some reference values for the design of the accounting information system of enterprises. Based on this paper, the advantages and disadvantages of typical accounting information system construction methods are analyzed and compared, and the feasibility of process-aware accounting information systems for improving business process management is analyzed in terms of enterprise efficiency, accounting cost, accounting time, risk, and control quality. The feasibility of improving the process-aware accounting information system for business process management is analyzed in terms of enterprise efficiency, accounting cost, accounting time, risk, and control quality. The results show that the process-aware accounting information system with improved business process management is economically and effectively feasible, saves time, reduces accounting risks, and improves management control quality of the enterprise. The process-aware accounting information system with improved business process management reduces the accounting cost of enterprise Y. The accounting cost before is between 100,000 and 200,000, while the accounting cost after using the new system is between 80,000 and 100,000. Company Y’s accounting behavior, logic, and convenience satisfaction increased by at least 10-20% with the new system. So, in general, the process-aware accounting information system for improving business process management helps companies to grow and manage.

This paper provides an understanding of the evolution of AI and its role in shaping accounting information systems (AISs). It aims to summarize the current state of the literature that deals with the impact of AI on AIS, highlighting related aspects, such as the benefits and challenges of AI in AIS research. This review suggests that current studies dealing with this matter are scarce and invites future research to examine how bias and transparency are handled in the context of AI auditing systems and whether human auditors will fully rely on AI outcomes.

AbstractThe study designed to identify the influence of artificial intelligence on the efficiency of Accounting Information Systems (AIS) in the Jordanian industial companies, where the descriptive analytical approach was used. The study population included all Jordanian industrial companies listed in Amman Stock Exchange, includes (55) industrial companies. The respondents includes the managers, where (275) questionnaires were distributed to the study respondents electronically, with an average of (5) questionnaires for each company, and retrieved 142 valid questionnaires for statistical analysis. The results presented that there is a significant and positive effect of artificial intelligence’s dimensions (i.e. expert systems, genetic algorithms, intelligent agents) on the efficiency of AIS in Jordanian industrial companies. But the resule revealed that neural network as an artificial intelligence’s dimensions have non-significant effect on the efficiency of AISs. The result also found that the effective application of cyber security moderates the relationship between artificial intelligence and the the efficiency of AIS positively. Given the importance of the industrial companies’ sector in the context of Jordan, the results are useful for these companies with regard to the issue of AIS efficiency and the role of artificial intelligence applications in this efficiency. The results also highlighted the importance of the effective application of cyber security in such a technological era. To the knowledge of the authors, this study is one of the first to address cybersecurity as a moderating variable on the relationship between artificial intelligence applications and AIS efficiency in industrial companies in Jordan, a developing country.

This study investigates the influence of Accounting Information Systems (AIS) on stock return and financial performance. When it comes to organizations, AIS play a crucial part in the process of acquiring, processing, and communicating financial information. The efficient functioning of AIS has the potential to impact stock returns and overall financial performance, making it an essential area of research. The study employs a comprehensive analysis of relevant literature, empirical data, and statistical techniques to examine the relationship between AIS and stock return as well as financial performance. The findings of this study aim to provide insights into the extent to which AIS influences stock return and financial performance. A positive relationship between a well-functioning AIS and stock return is expected, given the importance of accurate and timely financial information in investors’ decision-making process. Financial performance parameters including profitability, efficiency, and liquidity are all expected to benefit from a robust AIS. There are major practical and theoretical ramifications of this study. Companies may benefit from better decisions on AIS improvements, maintenance, and rollout if they have a firm grasp of how AIS affects stock performance and overall financial results. According to the data, the efficacy of the accounting information system based on IT has a P value of –0.009, while its t value is equal to 0.027. According to the findings, the return on assets (ROA) has a P value that is equal to –0.592, while its t value is equal to 0.13. Further, AIS’s significance in evaluating a firm’s financial health and making investment decisions may be better understood. As a result of analyzing how Accounting Information Systems affect stock return and financial performance, this study adds to the current body of information. Accounting information systems have a major role in assisting the administration about making various decisions, as well as in drawing up the strategic plans of the bank. Therefore, the research focused on measuring the impact of accounting information systems on making strategic decisions for a group of banks. At the required level, or are there obstacles that led to poor use of information systems in general, The SPSS v.25 programme and the Excel programme were used on a sample of 38 branch and department managers in a sample of Iraqi banks, and the results showed that accounting information systems contributed to the strategic decision-making of the bank. The research sample and the two researchers recommend that AIS be updated in line with the expansion of the bank's activities in providing financial services to ensure the effectiveness of the system and its role in correcting the strategic decision. This paper focuses on the implementation of accounting information systems (AIS) and information technology (IT) in the sustainability of developed economic units. The objectives of this study are to characterize economic units, study the application of AIS, explain the effectiveness of AIS and IT on economic units, and investigate the role of IT specialists. To achieve these objectives, a comprehensive analysis is conducted to understand the nature, structure, and operations of developed economic units. The study explores how AIS are implemented and utilized within these units, examining the processes, procedures, and technologies involved in collecting, storing, processing, and reporting financial and non-financial data. Additionally, the impact and effectiveness of AIS and IT on the overall performance and sustainability of economic units are assessed, highlighting the benefits and challenges associated with their adoption and integration. The results obtained demonstrate the positive impact of effective AIS and IT implementation on economic unit performance, including improved decision-making capabilities, streamlined operations, and enhanced financial reporting. However, limitations such as sample size and data reliability should be acknowledged. To overcome these limitations, future research should consider larger and more diverse datasets, longitudinal studies, and the involvement of multiple stakeholders. In conclusion, this research provides valuable insights into the implementation of AIS and IT in developed economic units and highlights their significance in ensuring sustainability. Nowadays, accounting departments highly rely on accounting information systems to make decisions based on current, updated, and contemporary data. And, most accounting practices can be enhanced by emerging technologies coupled with accounting information systems. Therefore, contemporary accounting information systems (AIS) coupled with emerging technologies is the highest priority in organizations to make decisions that can contribute to strategic flexibility and performance of the organizations. The objective of the study is to identify the role of information systems infrastructure integration (ISII) on strategic flexibility and innovation (SFI) through the mediated role of information systems (IS)-enabled strategic enterprise management (IS-SEM) practices and decision-making performance (DMP). The study is based on contemporary literature in the field of emerging technologies in accounting information systems particularly business intelligence and analytics (BI &A). Resource-based view had been applied to create novel constructs to test the research framework and hypothesis. The research framework and hypothesis are tested based on 388 organizations from Brazil and USA. The results reflect that information systems infrastructure integration impacts strategic flexibility and innovations in organizations. Further, there is no difference observed between North American and South American organizations. The results of the research suggest that accounting information systems (AIS) practitioners and researchers should look beyond emerging technologies investments and shift their attention to how information systems infrastructure integration (ISII) and information systems-enabled strategic enterprise management (IS-SEM) practices can leverage decision-making performance (DMP) and impact on strategic flexibility and innovation. This study aims to attain a set of goals that is the most significant of which are: identifying the factors causing the success of accounting information systems (AIS) and their repercussions on the performance of organizations in Malaysian small and medium sized enterprises. This paper utilised 101 small and medium enterprises from 2015 to 2020. The results show there are a positive effect of AIS on organizations performance. The AIS supporting the performance and raise the quality of the organization's performance. The study recommended the need to give special priority to attention to the quality of the AIS and the importance of developing AIS continuously in line with the needs and desires of the beneficiaries. The research's purpose is to analyze the direct and indirect effects on financial crisis management in light of the accounting information system's success in the local government context. The study adopted the positivist paradigm, a deductive quantitative approach, and a descriptive-analytical nature. Data were collected through the questionnaire, and the local authorities in Palestine represented the study population. The sample focused on the accounting and finance departments, and the analysis unit was based on the accounting information systems users. The study employed the techniques of Smart-PLS software in analyzing the data. The originality and novelty of the study mainly stem from the development of its own theory and model based on the fact that financial crisis management depends on accounting information systems. Establishing a model that clarifies accounting information system's success–financial crisis management relationships, allowed examining that theory and relationships empirically. Empirical results and evidence prove the theory's validity and the high reliability of its tested empirical model. The outcomes revealed the significant direct influence of the accounting information system's success, with its dimensions system quality, information quality, service quality, system use, and user satisfaction, on the financial crisis management. In addition to the significant indirect influences of system quality and information quality on financial crisis management through the mediation of system use and user satisfaction. On the other hand, the system use and user satisfaction did not perform a mediating role in the influences between service quality and financial crisis management. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

In the era of rapid information development, with the popularity of computers, the advancement of science and technology, and the ongoing expansion of IT technology and business, the enterprise resource planning (ERP) system has evolved into a platform and a guarantee for the fulfilment of company management procedures after long-term operations. Because of developments in information technology, most manual accounting procedures are being replaced by computerized Accounting Information Systems (AIS), which are quicker and more accurate. The primary factors influencing the decisions of logistics firm trading parties are investigated in order to enhance the design of decision-supporting modules and to improve the performance of logistics enterprises through AIS. This paper proposed a novel approach to calculate the weights of each information element in order to establish their important degree. The main purpose of this research is to present a quantitative analytic approach for determining the important information of logistics business collaboration response. Furthermore, the idea of total orders and the significant degrees stated above are used to identify the optimal order of all information elements. Using the three ways of marginal revenue, marginal cost, and business matching degree, the information with cumulative weights is which is deployed to form the data from the intersection of the best order.
