Background: In the past infectious diseases affected the quality of lifestyle during home confinement. The study conducted examines the influence of home confinement during the COVID-19 pandemic outbreak on lifestyle, mental wellbeing, nutritional status, and sleeping pattern., Method: An online multicategorical questionnaire was distributed to collect demographic information combined with the following tools: Food Frequency Questionnaire (FFQ), International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ), WHO-5 wellbeing score, and Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI). A snowball non-discriminate sampling procedure was conducted to collect data from people attending or working at higher institutions from March 1, 2020 to April 24, 2020. A total of 1723 completed responses (917 males, 37.4 ±13.4 years old and 806 females 32.2 ± 11.5 years old) were collected., Results: The female participants had significantly lower mental health scores than males (53.9% vs. 46.1%). The mental wellbeing scores were higher among participants with medium and high physical activity (PA) levels (p < 0.00). Additionally, the mental wellbeing scores were significantly improved by dietary quality and it's sleeping score (p < 0.001). However, PA was by far the major determinant of the mental health scores., Conclusion: Factors such as PA, diet, and sleeping patterns were associated with mental wellbeing during the COVID-19 confinement among Arab participants., Competing Interests: MH is an employee of Actness. Students in middle school tend to display emotional and behavioural difficulties (EBDs) compared to other forms of psychopathology. Early identification of EBDs is therefore a priority in order to prevent the chronic co-morbidity with other forms of psychopathology which may affect students' academic achievement. Assessment of EBDs has been traditionally undertaken via proxy reporting; but psychometrically rigorous instruments are needed so that children and adolescents can report on their own emotions and behaviours. Such need increases in the Omani context given the lack of EBDs adequate assessment instruments. In the current study the factor structure of the Arabic self-report version of the Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire (A-SDQ) was examined in a sample of 815 middle school students (mean age=14 years). The study tested the SDQ original five-factor model which received considerable empirical support. Responses on the A-SDQ were compared to responses obtained via proxy reports from teachers and parents through confirmatory factor analyses (CFAs). Results showed a reasonable fit for the three informant forms. Nevertheless, there were differences in item loadings across the three informant forms. Additionally, participants' self-report responses were tested for invariance across gender. CFAs provided support to the invariance hypothesis for item loadings, indicating that the items were similarly valid indices of the five factors for males and females. Factor correlations, factor variances and item residuals were not invariant across gender., What This Paper Adds: This paper, to our knowledge, is the first research paper that provides empirical evidence on the Arabic self report version of the Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire (A-SDQ) within a school-based sample. Speciation of Cr(III)/Cr(VI) from water using olive pomace (OP) was improved by partial pyrolysis of OP. The sorbents were characterized by physicochemical techniques. Sorption of Cr(III) on raw and partially pyrolyzed OP sorbents followed Freundlich isotherm and second-order rate kinetics. OP pyrolyzed at 150°C (sorbent OP-150) exhibited maximum sorption capacity, favorability and the lowest sorption energy. Sorption was exothermic and spontaneous for the raw-OP and OP pyrolyzed at 100 or 150°C; but endothermic and non-spontaneous for OP pyrolyzed at 200, 250, 300 or 400°C. A speciation method of chromium was proposed, in which Cr(III) was selectively retained at pH 3 on sorbent OP-150; while total Cr was determined after reduction of Cr(VI). The method was selective with a detection limit for Cr(III) of 1.58 μg L(-1). The method was applied on natural and industrial waters (recoveries >97.7%, RSD's <9%) and on tobacco leaves certified reference material (INCT-PVTL-6)., (Copyright © 2011 Elsevier Ltd. To assess the construct validity and magnitude of burnout among Emirati and Palestinian teachers, a total of 357 Emirati and 261 Palestinian teachers responded to the Maslach Burnout Inventory. Separate exploratory factor analyses clearly identified four factors for the Emirati sample and three factors for the Palestinian sample but with more complex structure than that for the Emirati sample. Confirmatory factor analyses confirmed the four-factor model for Emirati sample and the three-factor structure for the Palestinian sample but some difficulty arose with Items 5, 15, and 22. Coefficients alpha for the four subscales ranged from .59 to .85 for Emirati teachers and from .58 to .88 for the Palestinian sample. Palestinian teachers reported stronger feelings of emotional exhaustion than Emirati teachers did. The two groups of teachers reported similar feelings about personal success and similar attitudes toward their students and their jobs.

This study proposed and tested a model of mathematics achievement and its relations to antecedent and subsequent factors using structural equations modeling. A sample of elementary school students in Al-Ain school district (n = 394) completed an Arabic version of the Self-description Questionnaire as well as a questionnaire measuring their perception of the importance of mathematics, anxiety about it, and the amount of effort they exerted in studying. Mathematics grades were obtained from the official school records. Importance and effort were positively related to achievement which in turn had a positive path coefficient to self-concept and a negative path to anxiety. The hypothesized model explained 40%, 64%, and 73% of the variance in achievement, self-concept, and anxiety, respectively. The results can be interpreted as indicating that achievement is an important outcome and antecedent construct within the proposed model.

This study was designed to assess the structure of the Maslach Burnout Inventory for 218 Jordanian and 162 Emirati teachers. LISREL was used to test the invariance of factor structure across the two Middle Eastern samples. Coefficients alpha were computed for the three subscales of the inventory for the samples. The results indicated that the parameter estimates were invariant across the two samples; however, not all factor correlations were invariant. Factor correlations of Jordanian teachers were larger than those of the Emirati teachers. Coefficients alpha ranged between .71 and .84 for the Jordanians and between .68 and .83 for the Emiratis. The inventory appears to be valid and reliable for nonWestern teachers as well as Western teachers.
