1. Effectiveness of psychological interventions in endometriosis: a systematic review with meta-analysis.

Abstract

Introduction: Endometriosis is a chronic gynecological disease associated with chronic debilitating pain, poor mental health and quality of life. The objective of this paper is to evaluate the effectiveness of psychological interventions aimed at improving the pain, quality of life and mental health of women with endometriosis. Methods: A systematic review (SR) of the literature with meta-analysis (MA) was carried out. MEDLINE, Embase, PsycINFO and CENTRAL were searched to locate Randomized Controlled Trials (RCTs). The risk of bias assessment of each study was conducted using the Cochrane Collaboration's RoB 2.0 tool. Results: Seven RCTs were included (N = 757). The data obtained suggest that psychological interventions reduce dyspareunia [standardized mean difference (SMD): -0.54, 95% CI: −0.86, −0.22] and dyschezia [mean difference (MD): -2.90, 95% CI: −4.55, −1.26] and increase mental health levels (SMD: 0.70, 95% CI: 0. 42, 0.99); they also point to a large reduction in levels of trait anxiety (MD: -6.63, 95% CI: −8.27, −4.99) and depression (MD: -2.49, 95% CI: −3.20, −1.79), and a likely reduction in state anxiety (MD: -9.72, 95% CI: −13.11, −6.33) experienced by women with endometriosis. It was also identified that psychological interventions probably slightly reduce pelvic pain and may increase physical health. However, most of the included studies have a high overall risk of bias or have certain concerns, which limit conclusions about the certainty of the evidence. Discussion: The available evidence indicates that psychological interventions are effective in improving the pain, quality of life and mental health variables of women with endometriosis. Abstract

La investigación realizada a lo largo de los años sobre la conducta problemática de juego ha señalado la influencia de las variables individuales. En este estudio se ha realizado una investigación empírica con el objetivo de observar qué variables de personalidad y de salud se asocian con la conducta de juego problemático en la población adolescente. Para ello, se contó con una muestra de conveniencia formada por 176 estudiantes de Bachillerato. A partir de la literatura se propone que existiría una mayor tendencia a presentar una conducta de juego problemático en los hombres y en aquellos sujetos que mostraran mayores niveles de impulsividad, búsqueda de nuevas sensaciones, sintomatología ansiosa y depresiva. En este análisis se evaluaron personalidad, sintomatología y conducta de juego, que fueron analizados mediante el programa estadístico informático SPSS. Se realizó un análisis de correlaciones y un análisis de diferencias de medias con la prueba t para cada criterio que determina el comportamiento de juego problemático. Los resultados indicaron que, a mayor impulsividad y búsqueda de nuevas experiencias, los adolescentes presentaron una mayor predisposición a la conducta de juego problemático. Además, resulta destacable que el grupo alto en criterios de conducta problemática de juego puntúa más en características de personalidad, mientras que en el grupo bajo predomina la sintomatología. Estos resultados fueron coherentes con la literatura existente sobre esta adicción conductual, pero se considera necesario seguir realizando investigaciones en el futuro, de forma que puedan ser útiles y aplicables en medidas de prevención. Research on pathological or problematic gambling behavior has pointed out the influence of individual factors. In this study, an empirical research was carried out with the aim of analysing personality and health factors associated with the behaviour of problematic gambling in adolescence. The sample was integrated by a group of 176 high school students. Based on literature, it is proposed that there is a greater tendency to problematic gambling behavior in men and those who show higher levels of impulsivity, as well as sensation seekers and those who have anxiety and depressive symptoms. For this reason, personality, symptomatology and gambling factors were evaluated and analyzed with the statistical software SPSS. A correlation analysis and a mean difference analysis were performed with the t-test for each problematic gambling behaviour criteria. The results showed that a higher level of impulsivity and search for new experiences, meant adolescents presented a greater predisposition to problematic gambling behavior. In addition, it is worth noting that the high group for problematic gambling behavior scores more on personality factors, while the low group shows symptomatology tendencies. These results were consistent with the existing literature on this behavioral addiction, but it is necessary to carry out further research in the future, so that they can be useful for preventive measures.
