The present study aimed to investigate the potential application of chitosan for controlling green mold disease of orange fruits ("Baladi" sweet orange fruits) caused by Penicillium digitatum under in vitro and in vivo conditions (during storage conditions). The effect of chitosan under different concentrations (0.01, 0.025, 0.05, 0.125, 0.25, 0.5, 1 and 2) % v/v was evaluated against P. digitatum (in vitro). The reported data indicated that conc. 0.25, 0.5, 1 and 2% v/v of chitosan showed the highest inhibitory effect against the target pathogen. The in vivo experiments (under artificial infection), showed that the disease severity was significantly reduced in chitosan treated fruits at conc. (0.25, 0.5 and 1% v/v) compared with control. Moreover, it was noticed that chitosan solution at 1% conc. was the best conc. in reducing the percentage of disease severity, followed by 0.5% v/v. The effect of chitosan at (0.25, 0.5 and 1% v/v) conc. was also studied on some physical and chemical characteristics at 4 °C during two successive seasons. Interestingly, chitosan at 1% followed by 0.5% decreased fruits decay percentage, 0.5% and 1% significantly decreased fruits weight loss percentage, increased total soluble solids (TSS) and V.C content in fruits. The uses of edible coating of chitosan solution (0.5 and 1%) were more effective to preserve high quality of "Baladi" sweet orange during storage 4 °C for 8 weeks with good chemical and physical qualities as well as chitosan could be successfully used to inhibit the decay fungi compared with uncoated samples. This study was conducted to evaluate the effect of spraying some growth regulators (CPPU at 15 ppm and GA3 at 100 ppm), some antioxidants (Amino acids at 0.50 g/L, citric acid at 500 ppm and ascorbic acid at 500 ppm) and active dry yeast at 10 g/L on yield and fruit quality of Seewy date palm during 2015 and 2016 seasons. The experiment was set up in a complete randomized block design with seven treatments and ten replicates, one bunch per each. Date palm were sprayed three times, at the 1st week of May, June and July. Foliar application had a positive effect on yield and fruit quality of Seewy date palm. The best results were obtained with spraying GA3 at 100 ppm and CPPU at 15 ppm for increasing bunch weight, yield/palm, fruit weight, fruit length and diameter. On the other hand, spraying amino acids at 0.50 g/L and yeast at 10 g/L significantly increased TSS%, total sugars contents, and significantly decreased tannins %, total acidity % and fruit moisture content. So, it can be concluded that spraying GA3 or CPPU combined with any amino acid, yeast, citric acid or ascorbic acid three time (1, 2 & 3 month of pollination time) increased the palm yield and improved the fruit quality of Seewy date palm. The experiment was conducted during the two successive seasons of 2015 and 2016 on Ruby Seedless grapevines grown in the Experimental Orchard, Faculty of Agriculture, Assiut University. This investigation was carried out to study the effect of spraying yeast, algae and fish oil on vegetative growth, nutrient status and fruiting. The experiment was set up in a randomized complete block design with three replicates, one vine per each. The obtained results could be summarized as follows: - Pruning wood weight, leaf area and its nutritional status significantly increased with spraying yeast, algae and fish oil compared to unsprayed ones. Spraying yeast combined with algae plus fish oil at half concentration of single spraying gave the maximum values of these aspects. - Spraying yeast combined with algae and fish oil gave the highest cluster number, heaviest clusters and yield/vine compared to the other spraying treatments and unsprayed ones. No significant differences were observed among double spraying form or triple ones. - All yeast, algae or fish oil treatments significantly improved the berry quality in terms of increasing berry weight, total soluble solids %, reducing sugars % and skin berry anthocyanin and decreasing titratable acidity % compared to unsprayed ones. The present study concluded that carrying out sprays of mixture of 5 g/L yeast, 0.5 g/L algae or 0.5 ml/L fish oil improved the growth and nutritional status of vines, in addition get high yield with good cluster and berry attributes.
