In today's modern society, people are getting more conscious of the built environment's energy efficiency and sustainability. Sustainable architectural design reduces negative environmental effect by improving energy efficiency, health, comfort, safety, livability for inhabitants, and the ecosystem at large. Other considerations include effective maintenance and optimization of the resources. All of this is achieved by incorporating appropriate technology within the building. Recent developments in the field of IoT, cloud computing, machine learning, artificial intelligence, and other smart wireless technologies could support solutions for building automation systems. Therefore, it is utmost important to determine the potential of these cutting-edge and smart wireless technologies for building automation and management. In this research work, the role of building technologies in creating a smart and sustainable built environment is identified and discussed. To emphasize the importance, a survey is being conducted to identify the current demand for building management systems, as well as their awareness and present scenario.

With the goals of a better power factor and reduction in energy use, variable frequency drives (VFDs) have been standardized in various industrial applications including Heating, Ventilation, and Air-conditioning (HVAC) systems. However, key issues related to the deterioration in the power quality associated parameters (voltage harmonic distortion and current harmonic distortion) due to the growing number of VFDs demand a wholesome analysis of the problems faced by the users. In this present work, an analysis has been performed to investigate the potential impact of using alternating current (AC) line reactor and direct current (DC) link choke combination on harmonic mitigation in a VFD driven water-cooled centrifugal chiller compressor. Using a combination of AC line reactor and DC link choke as one of the low cost solutions in harmonic mitigation of a VFD driven load in HVAC systems can be decided based on the investigation done in this research work.

Background In the last two decades, India's central and many state governments launched several public health programs with the goal of improving maternal and child health outcomes. Many individual studies assessed the impact of these programs; however, they focused on select health programs and few specific outcomes. Objectives and methods This paper summarizes the literature, published during 2000–2019, investigating the impacts of public health programs on both the uptake of maternal and child health services and the related-health outcomes in India. We followed PRISMA guidelines of systematic review, and carried out a narrative synthesis of the study findings. Findings and conclusion We found 66 relevant studies covering 11 health programs across India. Most studies had applied non-experimental study designs (n = 50), with few applying experimental (n = 1) and quasi-experimental (n = 15) designs. Most studies (n = 64) assessed the impact on the intermediate outcomes of the uptake of various health services rather on the long-term outcomes of improvement in health. Overall we found studies reporting positive impacts, however, we could not find any strong consensus emerging from these studies about the impact, partly due to differences in: outcome indicators; study designs; study population; data sets. Several studies also reported considerable beneficial impacts among low socioeconomic population groups. However, given that the outreach of the public health programs have been low across the country and population groups, we found that broader objectives of health programs remained unassessed: most studies assessed the impact on who actually participated in the program (average treatment effect on-the-treated) rather on the target population (intent-to-treat effect). Furthermore, there was dearth of research on the impacts of the state-level programs. Future research need to assess the impact of the programs on health outcomes, and on quality adjusted measures of maternal and child health services and its continuum of care.

This paper is an attempt to evaluate the trend and pattern of expenditure on education and progress of infrastructure related to education in Odisha. The study uses growth rate, percentage, and rank with tabulation and graphical representation for the vivid illustration of information and findings. To examine the trend and pattern of expenditure on elementary education the study uses district level data on expenditure and Gross District Domestic Product for a period of 14 years i.e., from 2002-03 to 2015-16. Moreover, the study uses ranking method in which rank of Odisha has been calculated for different infrastructure parameters. The findings of the study shows that, the state is spending too less on elementary education than secondary and higher education, raising expenditure on education is insignificant in south division as many part of these districts still do not have primary or necessary facilities related education and the literacy rate of these district are too low while compared with districts of north and central division, while comparing the rank of Odisha with other states of India the study found that except drinking water facility and number of govt and private schools, in all other parameters Odisha’s rank is declining over the period.

The demand for high quality electricity and growing electricity consumption has been caused by increas ing electrification of daily life causes and the rising number of sensitive or critic al loads. Due to the rapid increase in global energ y consumption and the diminishing of fossil fuels, the customer demand fo r new generation capacities and efficient energy pr oduction, delivery and utilization keeps rising. The micro grid concept ha s the potential to solve major problems arising fro m large penetration of distributed generation in distribution systems. A proper contro l strategy should be implemented for a successful o peration of a micro grid . Different load models can be simulated and analyzed using MATLAB and PSCAD software. In this paper, th e work done in the field of Micro Grid has been reviewed.

Objectives: In this paper, performance comparison of various FACTS devices has been carried out for mitigating voltage sag/swell and also balancing the active and reactive power of the system. Methods/Statistical Analysis: Fuzzy logic controller has been incorporated in shunt and series converter control of FACTS devices. The system stability performance with different FACTS devices has also been studied using Integral of Squared Error (ISE) performance index. Simulation has been carried out in MATLAB/SIMULINK environment. Findings: It has been found that multiline FACTS devices perform better as compared to single line FACTS devices during the voltage compensation and power quality improvement. Application/Improvements: FACTS devices can improve the system performance by controlling the power flow and bus voltages of system and thus maintaining the power system quality and stability.
