The global average life expectancy has increased astonishingly. However, problems such as household income inequality, high unemployment and the continuous impact of economic growth have prevented Malaysia's life expectancy from increasing. This paper studies the effect of macroeconomic variables on life expectancy in Malaysia from 1991–2019. The data was collected from the World Bank and the Department of Statistics Malaysia. For this purpose, the analysis of the study is to use the Autoregressive Distributed Lag (ARDL) approach. The results show that household income variables and economic growth variables have a positive and significant effect on life expectancy in the long run, while only the economic growth variables have a significant effect on life expectancy in the short run. Therefore, the country needs to allocate greater expenditure on economic development because it can increase Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and reduce the inflation rate. The composition of foreign workers is increasing because the cost of hiring foreign workers is lower, which has made the demand for foreign workers high. Besides, there are also some jobs that are not of interest to local workers. The purpose of this study is to investigate the linkage between foreign workers and Malaysian national output from 1990–2019. The data were collected from the World Bank. For this purpose, the autoregressive distributed lag (ARDL) approach will be used. The results showed that foreign workers and capital stock have a positive and significant effect on national output in the long run. Meanwhile, in the short run, the results show that consumption, expenditure, and capital stock have a positive and significant effect on national output. Therefore, the country needs to manage existing human resources in the country to make sure local workers also get jobs. This concept paper explores the challenges faced by employees from various industries as the world faces the COVID-19 pandemic at this point. The current situation finds that employees cannot go out to work face to face or are not allowed to come to the office physically as usual as a result of this COVID-19 pandemic outbreak. Furthermore, all citizens from almost all countries are involved in the implementation of the movement control order (MCO). However, jobs that involve day-to-day operations in the organisation still need to carry out their activities as usual for the sake of the survival of their respective organisations. Thus, there are various online platforms that are used to enable activities in the organisation to continue in the interest of stakeholders. To continue daily work activities there are several online platforms that are often used as communication media in organisations such as 'Google Meet', 'Google Classroom', 'Zoom', 'Webex', 'Microsoft Team' and 'Skype'. When the COVID-19 pandemic situation was announced to have subsided, there were organisations that adopted hybrid methods where online and face-to-face communication media were practiced for the purpose of discussions and meetings. This concept paper aims to identify the challenges faced by employees throughout working from home (WFH) when faced with this COVID-19 pandemic. Researchers have proposed three (3) recommendations in facing employee challenges throughout WFH with reference to Sociotechnical Systems Theory (STS) and Motivation-Hygiene Theory based on reference highlights of papers reviewed from 15 journals in previous studies. The results of this study can contribute to knowledge and in addition to the highlights of the work for this topic, especially to employers and employees who practice the concept of WFH. The purpose of this study is to identify the main factors that are significantly influencing the Shariah compliance status of the listed firms at the Pakistan Stock Exchange. This research examines the extent to which variations in directors' characteristics and firm-specific factors affect the company's status with respect to Shariah compliance. A total of 80 listed companies on the Pakistan Stock Exchange were selected. The data were collected from the companies' financial reports for the period of 2013-2017 (N = 400). The research models were tested using fixed and random effects logit analysis on STATA 15. The findings reveal that the director's religion, Islamic financing, Islamic institutes' shareholdings, payout ratio, and stock return significantly influence Shariah compliance status in Pakistan. This study is the first to explore the directors' characteristics and firm-specific factors that impact Shariah compliance status to the best of our knowledge. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This research looked at how work engagement and career strategies affect career success. The study proposed that career strategies would buffer the relationship between work engagement and career success. The information was acquired through a questionnaire of 398 female engineers from five states in Peninsular Malaysia. The results indicated that work engagement is significantly associated to objective career success (β=.042, t= 1.685, p≤.05), and subjective career success (β=.063, t= 3.828, p≤.05). However, career strategy is not significantly associated to objective career success (β= -.131, t= 1.004, p≥.05); but it significantly associated to subjective career success (β=.497, t= 1.691, p≤.05). Moreover, the indirect effect revealed that the moderating function of career strategies in the connection between work engagement and subjective career success was also partially supported in this study. In detail, results presented that career strategy is not moderated the relationship between work engagement and objective career success (β=.084, t= 1.043, p≥.05) but it moderated the relationship between work engagement and subjective career success (β=.188, t= 2.242, p≤.05). By referring to the Social Cognitive Career Theory (SCCT); the discussions were made as well as the ramifications were proposed to the relevant parties include of the female engineers in Malaysia.
