Abstract

Multi-satellite altimetry has been employed in tidal modelling as its accuracy has been proven acceptable in constructing good-quality models. However, the modelling process often fails to consider the varying temporal resolution and observation periods among satellites, which can affect the accuracy of the model due to aliasing and Rayleigh effects. In Indonesia, we investigate and propose a satellite selection procedure for tidal modelling utilizing the response method, validated with along-track data obtained from both older and newer generations of ERM (Exact Repeat Mission)-type altimetry satellites, including the TOPEX/Jason series (TOPEX, Jason-1, Jason-2, Jason-3, and SENTINEL-6A), ENVISAT, ERS-2, GFO, SENTINEL-3B, and SENTINEL3A. The most optimal satellite combination identified is the TOPEX/Jason series, GFO, and ENVISAT, as they contribute significantly less error compared to ERS-2, SENTINEL-3A, and SENTINEL-3B, with errors exceeding 50%, primarily due to aliasing and Rayleigh effects. This combination of three satellites with tide gauge stations achieves higher precision (11.31 cm) than the current global tidal model. This study provides empirical evidence that the accuracy of tidal models is not solely dependent on the number of altimetry satellites utilized, but implementing effective satellite selection procedures is also crucial to enhance the precision of a model. Abstract

The application of Apple LiDAR is now being researched in a variety of fields. Several research projects have been conducted to provide an answer, including those focused on heritage documentation, forest inventory, and geoscience applications. In cave, it is common practice to photograph with a digital camera equipped with photogrammetric techniques and a terrestrial laser scanner. The focus of this study is on how the iPad Pro M1 2021 can generate a point cloud that describes the graffiti on the cave walls. This investigation was carried out in Barong Cave, West Java, Indonesia. Scanning with iPad Pro M1 2021 was completed using three applications: 3D Scanner App, EveryPoint, and SiteScape. Point cloud of each application is analyzed using M3C2 plugin in CloudCompare. Based on this research, SiteScape is the best application to use. It can be concluded that the LiDAR iPad is suitable for use in caves and can capture detailed information about cave walls.

Abstract

Barong cave, located in West Java, Indonesia, is one of the caves within the cultural heritage site of Pawon cave, which has the potential to have been a human settlement based on the artifacts found there. However, the site has faced challenges such as vandalism, lack of proper management and preservation efforts, and the negative impacts of limestone mining. Terrestrial Laser Scanner (TLS) have gained attention as a tool for cave measurement and documentation, but there is limited research on their use for cultural heritage preservation in Indonesian caves. This study focuses on documenting and creating a 3D model of Barong cave using TLS, with a specific exploration of the intensity values of point cloud data obtained from TLS near-infrared wave. Data acquisition was successfully carried out, resulting in detailed digital models of the cave. Although manual identification of vandalism using TLS was limited, our study demonstrated the potential of TLS as a tool for identifying vandalism in caves. Further research, including the development of augmented reality and virtual reality applications for museums and education, and automated identification of markings on 3D point cloud data using intensity values for cave art, requires further development. 21. Inferences and Decision Heuristics in Peer-to-Peer Accommodation Booking

Abstract

This paper presents a preliminary result of a study on the roles of inference making in decision heuristics involving P2P accommodation booking. The goals of the study are to identify the influence of cues from similar listings on a decision to book a target listing when reviews are not available (i.e., missing information) as well as the effects of decision-making styles on actual choice and decision confidence. Preliminary results showed that the inclusion of a similar listing (comparison) did not make a significant difference in decision confidence, which may indicate insignificant roles of external cues in booking decisions. Due to a limited number of participants in the pilot study, the main study with a larger number of participants may explicate the phenomenon more significantly. Should the results hold, they suggest P2P accommodation hosts pay more attention to the listing characteristics instead of relying on information from similar listings.

Abstract

One of methods that can be used to determine the tectonic deformation status is rate estimation from geometric rotation and strain using quantitative velocity data from GPS observations. Microplate Sulawesi region located in the zone of triple junction (Eurasia, Australia and Philippine Sea Plates) has very complex tectonic and seismic condition, which is why become very important to know its recent deformation status in order to study neotectonic and disaster mitigation. Deformation rate quantification is estimated in two parameters: rotation and geodetic strain rate of each GPS station Delaunay triangle in the study area. The analysis in this study is not done using the grids since there is no rheological information at location that can be used as the interpolation-extrapolation constraints. Our analysis reveals that Sulawesi is characterized by rapid rotation in several different domains and compression-strain pattern that varies depending on the type and boundary conditions of microplate. Abstract

Sulawesi microplate Island is located at famous triple junction area of the Eurasian, India-Australian, and Philippine Sea plates. Under the influence of the northward moving Australian plate and the westward motion of the Philippine plate, the island at Eastern part of Indonesia is collide and with the Eurasian plate and Sunda Block. Those recent microplate tectonic motions can be quantitatively determine by GNSS-GPS measurement. We use combine GNSS-GPS observation types (campaign type and continuous type) from 1997 to 2015 to derive newly velocity field of the area. Several strategies are applied and tested to get the optimum result, and finally we choose regional strategy to reduce error propagation contribution from global multi baseline processing using GAMIT/GLOBK 10.5. Velocity field are analyzed in global reference frame ITRF 2008 and local reference frame by fixing with respect alternatively to Eurasian plate - Sunda block, India-Australian plate and Philippine Sea plates. Abstract

Indonesia has 129 active volcanoes. With a population of approximately 200 million, and the fact that the most populated island in Indonesia (i.e. Java) has the largest number of active volcanoes, then it is obvious that the Indonesian people live under the very real threat of volcanic eruptions. Monitoring volcanic activities can be done by using several methods, of which one of them is the deformation method. In Indonesia volcano deformation has been monitored using Tiltmeter observations, EDM measurements, Levelling Surveys, and Repeated or Continuous GPS Survey techniques. This paper will describe and discuss the implementation status of the GPS survey method for deformation monitoring of Indonesian volcanoes, along with their limitations and prospects. Abstract

In this paper, we propose to study the variability of specific absorption rate (SAR) of a human head due to different materials in the vicinity of the handset. We include the effects of the human hand, handset chassis and additional conductive material particularly hand- ring jewelry. A finite-difference time-Domain (FDTD) method was used to analyze different positions of the conductive ring materials within the hand model. Furthermore, the impact of this material on the performance of an antenna was considered in this study. We found that including a hand model leads to a significant reduction in SAR. The hand influences not only SAR distribution but also antenna performance. Moreover, adding conductive materials to the hand results in increases in the local SAR values of the head model. The results suggest that the hand model is important in SAR evaluation and that having an additional conductive material on the hand may vary the amount of electromagnetic (EM) energy absorption depending on the position of the material. This technique was used to investigate the subsidence of Bandung city, Indonesia, by assessing the data from two Japanese L-band spaceborne SARs (Japanese Earth Resources Satellite 1 SAR and Advanced Land Observation Satellite Phased Array type L-band Synthetic Aperture Radar) during the periods of 1993-1997 and 2007-2010. The results are confirmed using GPS observation data, ground survey data, local statistics, ground water level trend data, and the geological formation of the study area. The obtained results reveal a close correlation between the subsidence measurements and changes in the ground water level due to water pumping, population growth, industry growth, and urbanization of the study area.
