Since we presented, at the 22nd Space Utilization Symposium in 2004, a proposal that the study of sexuality, particularly reproduction is an important factor to construct an ideal human society in the space environment, we have investigated, as the first step, the effect of gravity on the fetus and found that the intrauterine fetus of 12 to 15 weeks gestation age takes often an independent posture of movement of the mother, suggesting gravity does not seriously affect the early development of the fetus. In this article we discuss some problems about the breast feeding after birth under microgravity or small gravity in a space environment. We have studied the effect of gravity on the intrauterine fetus development as the first step for investigating reproduction process of the human being in the space environment. In this experiment, we developed a method for measuring quantitatively the relation of movement of the mother to the posture of her fetus to estimate the effect of gravity on the fetus on the ground. As subjects we selected healthy pregnant five women and their fetuses in good condition, of 12-15 weeks along in their gestation period. We used a ultrasonic with which we can observe simultaneously movements of the fetus in three dimensions and a software for computing, with which we can analyze two dimensional movements, and established a method to demonstrate quantitatively a trend graph of change in posture of the fetus against the uterine wall axis of the mother. We found the possible motion of the fetus to keep the same location in the uterus as to be stable against the gravity. This method that we developed for study of reproduction in space should also endow the field of obstetrics medicine on the ground with benefit as well., 資料番号: AA0063706075

Results of these experiments suggested that the fetus may move independently to buffer the influence caused by movements of the mother under 1G environment, although it also tends to follow mother's movements. In the present study, we performed a simulation experiment to examine physical effects on the movement of fetus in the amniotic fluid. A doll made of vinyl chloride materials, a water bath made of acrylic plates, a rubber balloon and artificial seawater were used as models of fetus, uterus, amnion and amniotic fluid, respectively. The doll was placed in a bath (Pattern I)or a balloon filled with the sea water. In the latter case, the balloon was placed in the bath where the balloon was tightly touched to the wall of the water bath or it was separated from the wall. The bath was fixed on a tilting table. Three dimensional movements of models according to tilt of the table were recorded with three video cameras from the front, lateral and rostral sides of the doll. The side image demonstrated that displacement of the relative angle measured between an axis imaged on the doll and an axis on the bath wall increased when the table was tilted. The relative angle observed from other two sides didn't change. To research the distribution of air temperature in the city of Tajimi, Gifu prefecture, a total of 15 thermometers were placed at the schools and parks in the city of Tajimi, and the city of Kasugai, Aichi prefecture in August 2010. From the distribution of monthly average air temperature, air temperature at the center of Tajimi city was higher than the suburbs. Also, the days of daily minimum air temperature more than or equal to 25°C and daily maximum air temperature more than or equal to 35°C at the elementary school near the center of Tajimi city was more than those at other schools. This tendency appeared more clearly on the days of daily minimum air temperature more than or equal to 25°C. Also, the air temperature near the center of the city was higher than that ofthe suburbs in the early morning. Thus, it was indicated that the air temperature was hard to decrease as the bottom of the basin. From these results, the influence of urbanization to the formation of the daily minimum temperature in Tajimi city was indicated.
