Objective: The aim of this study was to evaluate the efficacy of ustekinumab in the treatment of enteropathic arthritis. Materials & methods: A systematic literature search was performed in the Pubmed database of publications between January 2010 and October 2021. Demographic characteristics, comorbidities, inflammatory bowel disease and enteropathic arthritis symptoms, other extraintestinal findings, medical treatments and clinical and laboratory findings for all cases were recorded. Results: A total of 11 patients were included. While clinical and laboratory remission was achieved in terms of inflammatory bowel disease in all patients and enteropathic arthritis in nine patients after ustekinumab treatment, other extraintestinal findings for all patients completely regressed after treatment. Conclusion: Ustekinumab may be an appropriate treatment option for this patient group, considering both pathogenesis and successful treatment responses.

Methods: From the prospective, multicenter PsART-ID (Psoriatic Arthritis Registry-International Database), patients from Turkey were analyzed by linking the registry to the Turkish Cause of Death Registry. The outcome of interest was death from any cause, pre-pandemic (since the onset of registry—March 2014–March 2020), and during the pandemic (March 2020–May 2021). The crude mortality rate and standardized mortality ratio (SMR) were determined. Results: There were 1216 PsA patients with a follow-up of 7500 patient-years. Overall, 46 deaths (26 males) were observed. In the pre-pandemic period, SMR for PsA vs the general population was 0.95 (0.61–1.49), being higher in males [1.56 (0.92–2.63)] than females [0.62 (0.33–1.17)]. The crude mortality rate in PsA doubled during the pandemic (pre-pandemic crude mortality rate: 5.07 vs 10.76 during the pandemic) with a higher increase in females (2.9 vs 8.72) than males (9.07 vs 14.73). Conclusion: The mortality in PsA was found similar to the general population in the pre-pandemic era. The mortality rates in PsA doubled during the pandemic. Whether PsA patients have more risk of mortality than the general population due to COVID-19 needs further studies.Key Points• Decrease in mortality in PsA might be expected with the more effective treatment options and better disease control.• A crude mortality rate is comparable to the general population and not increased until the pandemic.• Currently, there is a 2-fold increase in crude mortality rate possibly due to the COVID-19.

© 2022 Asia Pacific League of Associations for Rheumatology and John Wiley & Sons Australia, Ltd.The aim of this study is to evaluate development of side effects, thrombotic or obstetric complications in our antiphospholipid syndrome (APS) patient group, after vaccination against coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). A cohort was formed from patients who have previously been followed up with a diagnosis of APS. The patients of the cohort were evaluated retrospectively to find out if they were vaccinated with CoronaVac and/or BNT162b2 vaccines which are being used in our country. To evaluate the side effects seen after the vaccination, the information was collected by the patients in their outpatient appointments or making a phone call. Thirty-five APS patients who had received at least 1 dose of any of the COVID-19 vaccines were included in the study. Median (min–max) number of vaccine doses per patient was 2 (1–3). Eleven patients had a booster dose after primary vaccination. Twenty patients were ever vaccinated with BNT162b2 and 18 with CoronaVac. Among BNT162b2 recipients, 9 (45.0%) and among CoronaVac recipients 15 (42.9%) reported an adverse event after a vaccine administration. The most common adverse events were myalgia and malaise after any dose of both vaccines. No vaccine-related new thrombotic events or APS flares were observed. Our results were comparable with those reported in the literature. Comprehensive large-scale studies are needed for more accurate results on the evaluation of side effects after COVID-19 vaccination in APS patients.

Introduction: Patients with chronic inflammatory rheumatic diseases (CIRD) who receive intravenous therapy requiring hospitalization are likely to be more affected than those with receiving oral therapy during COVID-19 pandemic. We aimed to investigate the effect of the COVID-19 pandemic on adherence to treatment in patients with CIRD receiving intravenous treatments. Methods: We evaluated patients with CIRD who were treated with intravenous immunosuppressive therapy such as rituximab (RTX), cyclophosphamide (CTX), infliximab (IFX), tocilizumab (TCZ) and abatacept (ABA) in our inpatient rheumatology clinic. The patientsʼ medical treatment compliance and clinical follow-up were evaluated. Treatment discontinuation was decided according to postponement of at least one dose and discontinuation of CIRD treatments. Demographics and clinical characteristics were compared between treatment-incompliant (TI) and treatment-compliant (TC) groups. Results: A total of 181 CIRD patients were enrolled. Rheumatoid arthritis was the most common disease requiring intravenous immunosuppressive treatment followed by axial spondyloarthritis and Behçet’s disease. Joint involvement was the most common followed by lung and kidney involvements. Rituximab was the most widely used intravenous immunosuppressive treatment for the CIRD. 34% patients have postponed at least one dose of their intravenous CIRD treatment and 25% discontinued. Fear of COVID-19 and SARS-CoV-2 positivity were the most common reasons. The TI group had a longer disease duration and a higher frequency of inflammatory arthritis than the TC group (p=0.013 and p=0.044, respectively). Conclusions: Fear of COVID-19 and SARS-CoV-2 positivity seemed to be the major reasons for discontinuing/postponing intravenous treatments in CIRD patients. Patients with long disease duration and less systemic involvement may be more prone to discontinuing their treatments.

Aim: To evaluate the clinical course of idiopathic inflammatory myopathy (IIM) patients in COVID-19 pandemic, and to assess the COVID-19 outcomes in infected IIM patients. Materials & methods: In this study, 39 patients were evaluated retrospectively. Myositis disease activity, myositis damage index, depression, fatigue, active medical treatment, drug compliance and SARS-CoV-2 PCR test results in COVID-19 pandemic were collected. Results: Fourteen of these patients (35%) were detected to have a positive SARS-CoV-2 PCR test. The demographic and clinical characteristics, active medical treatment, disease activity, depression and fatigue of the patients who had undergone or not SARS-CoV-2 were similar. Conclusion: Our results have shown that although prevalence of COVID-19 seems to be increased in IIM patients under immunosuppressive treatment, hospitalization rates were lower and no intensive care unit admissions or deaths were observed.

Objective Semaphorin 3A (Sema3A) plays a regulatory role in immune responses. The aim of this study was to evaluate Sema3A levels in patients with systemic sclerosis (SSc), especially in major vascular involvements such as digital ulcer (DU), scleroderma renal crisis (SRC), pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH), and to compare Sema3A level with SSc disease activity. Methods In SSc patients, patients with DU, SRC, or PAH were grouped as major vascular involvements and those without as nonvascular, and Sema3A levels were compared between the groups and with a healthy control group. The Sema3A levels and acute phase reactants in SSc patients, as well as their association with the Valentini disease activity index and modified Rodnan skin score, were evaluated. Results The Sema3A values (mean ± SD) were 57.60 ± 19.81 ng/mL in the control group (n = 31), 44.32 ± 5.87 ng/mL in patients with major vascular involvement SSc (n = 21), and 49.96 ± 14.00 ng/mL in the nonvascular SSc group (n = 35). When all SSc patients were examined as a single group, the mean Sema3A value was significantly lower than controls (P = .016). The SSc with major vascular involvement group had significantly lower Sema3A levels than SSc with nonmajor vascular involvement group (P = .04). No correlation was found between Sema3A, acute phase reactants, and disease activity scores. Also, no relationship was observed between Sema3A levels and diffuse (48.36 ± 11.47 ng/mL) or limited (47.43 ± 12.38 ng/mL) SSc types (P = .775). Conclusion Our study suggests that Sema3A may play a significant role in the pathogenesis of vasculopathy and can be used as a biomarker in SSc patients with vascular complications such as DU and PAH.

Background/aim: The JAK-STAT pathway is involved in the pathogenesis of both the inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) and spondyloarthropathy group of diseases. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of tofacitinib, a Janus kinase inhibitor, in the treatment of enteropathic arthritis (EA). Materials & methods: The study included seven patients, four from the authors' follow-up and three from the literature. All cases were recorded for demographic characteristics, comorbidities, IBD and EA symptoms, medical treatments and changes in clinical and laboratory results with treatment. Results & conclusion: Clinical and laboratory remission in terms of IBD and EA was achieved in three patients after tofacitinib treatment. For both spondyloarthritis spectrum diseases and IBD, tofacitinib may be an appropriate choice, as its efficacy has been shown in both conditions.

Aim: To investigate clinical implications of antineutrophil cytoplasmic antibody (ANCA) positivity detected in COVID-19 patients during follow up. Materials & methods: A retrospective survey in a hospital database was carried out to detect COVID-19 patients in which ANCAs had been tested. Clinical, laboratory and imaging data were collected from this hospital database and compared between ANCA-negative and -positive patients. Results: ANCAs were tested in 87 COVID-19 patients. Eight had positivity in at least one ANCA test. COVID-19 symptoms on admission and rate of pulmonary involvement were similar. Acute phase reactant levels were higher in ANCA-positive patients. Rate of mortality was higher in the ANCA-positive group without statistical significance. Conclusion: ANCA positivity detected during COVID-19 in patients without a prior diagnosis of any rheumatic condition may be related with worse outcomes.

Background/Aim: Adult-onset Still’s disease (AOSD) is a multi-systemic, autoinflammatory disorder. Several activity scores have been proposed but none of them have been adopted universally. Our aim was to create a clinician-friendly activity scoring system by using simple clinical and laboratory parameters. Methods: AODS patients according to Yamaguchi criteria were included in this cross-sectional, multi-center study. Derivation and validation cohorts were constituted. Demographic, clinical and laboratory evaluation at study visit; patients’, and physicians’ global assessments of disease activity (both VAS/ Likert scale) were recorded. To develop the score; ordinal logistic regression model was used to determine independent predictors of patient’ global assessments of disease activity. Clinically and statistically significant variables were weighted according to regression coefficients. Then, performance of the score was tested on the validation cohort. Results: Total of 197 consecutive AOSD patient (125 in derivation, 72 in validation cohorts) were included. Final Still Activity Score was fever (2 points), arthralgia (2 points, plus 1 point if arthritis was present in ≥2 joints), neutrophilia≥65% (1 point) and ferritin≥350 ng/mL (1 point) (maximum of 7 points). The SAS yielded an AUC value of 0.98(0.96-1.00) in the derivation cohort and 0.91(95%CI:0.85-0.98) in the validation cohort to discriminate high AOSD activity from moderate-inactive AOSD. Correlation of SAS with PtGA was 83% for the derivation cohort and 76% for the validation cohort. Conclusions: SAS has shown a good test performance to distinguish active AOSD patients from the others. SAS may be a useful method for evaluating disease activity of AOSD patients in daily practice. Introduction: One of the factors that may aggravate the clinical presentation in COVID-19 is the increased level of antiphospholipid antibodies (aPLs) and thrombotic events that can be seen with the disease. In our retrospective study, we aimed to evaluate the effect of aPLs on the clinical findings in patients with a diagnosis of COVID-19. Methodology: Seventy-three patients diagnosed with COVID-19 and examined for aPLs were included in the study. Patients were divided into two groups according to the test results of aPLs. Clinical and laboratory parameters were compared in both groups to reveal whether there was any difference between the groups. Results: There were 15 patients with a positive aPLs test. Dyspnea, nausea, vomiting, myalgia, and abdominal pain were significantly higher in the aPLs positive group than those with negative aPLs. The duration of hospital stays and the need for oxygen therapy of the patients in the aPLs positive group were significantly higher than the aPLs negative group. However, no difference was found between the two groups in terms of mechanical ventilation need, intensive care admission rate, thrombosis and mortality. In terms of laboratory findings, those with positive aPLs have higher median C-reactive protein (CRP) and ferritin values than those with negative aPLs. Conclusions: In our study group, we could not find a relationship between aPLs positivity and critical complications. According to our hypothesis, it may not be necessary to routinely examine aPLs in patients with a diagnosis of COVID-19 to determine the risk of thromboembolic complications.

Objectives We sought to evaluate the performance of the SLE Risk Probability Index (SLERPI) for identification of SLE in a large cohort of patients with UCTD. Methods The SLERPI was applied in a cohort of patients who met classification criteria for UCTD and did not fulfil any classification criteria for other defined CTD including SLE. Patients with a SLERPI score of >7 were ‘diagnosed’ as SLE. Patients diagnosed with SLE and those not were compared in terms of disease characteristics and index parameters. Results A total of 422 patients with UCTD were included in the study. Median (interquartile range) SLERPI was 4.25 (2.5) points, while 39 (9.2%) patients had a SLERPI score >7 and were diagnosed as SLE. Patients with younger age (P = 0.026) and presence of malar rash (P 500 mg/24 h (P = 0.001), thrombocytopenia (P = 0.009) or autoimmune haemolytic anaemia (P Conclusion SLERPI enabled a significant proportion of patients to be identified as SLE in our UCTD cohort. This new probability index may be useful for early identification of SLE among patients with signs of CTD without fulfilling any definite criteria set.

Objectives This study aimed to evaluate the relationship between C-reactive protein/albumin (CRP/Alb), neutrophil/lymphocyte (NLR), platelet/lymphocyte (PLR) ratios and the Acute Physiology And Chronic Health Evaluation II (APACHE II) score and 28-day mortality among 400 patients admitted to internal medicine and anesthesia reanimation intensive care unit (ICU). Methods This prospective study included a total of 400 patients who were admitted to hospital internal medicine and anesthesia reanimation ICUs. Results The most common reasons for ICU admission were pneumonia (29.3%), gastrointestinal bleeding (10.3%), acute exacerbation of chronic kidney disease (CKD) (10.3%), and acute kidney injury (7.5%). The comparison of the laboratory findings with survival outcomes revealed that among the patients with acute exacerbation of CKD, the median NLR (p=0.043) and median CRP/Alb (p=0.021) were significantly higher in patients who died. For all of the patients, the APACHE II score was positively correlated with CRP (p Conclusions The APACHE II score was significantly correlated with the CRP/Alb ratio, NLR, and PLR. The NLR and CRP/Alb ratio were statistically associated with mortality in patients hospitalized for acute exacerbation of CKD.

Objective: Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) of the lower extremities is the most common form of vascular involvement in Behcet disease (BD), frequently leading to post-thrombotic syndrome (PTS) as a disabling complication. We have described the clinical characteristics and predictors of PTS presence among patients with BD and lower extremity DVT. We also used venous Doppler ultrasound (US) examinations in our assessment. Methods: Patients with BD (n = 205; 166 men, 39 women; age 39 6 9.5 years) and a history of DVT were investigated. The Villalta scale was used to assess the presence and severity of PTS. Doppler US examinations were performed within 1 week of the clinical evaluation. The total number of vessels with reflux, thrombi, recanalization, and collateral vessels were calculated. Results: Of the 205 patients with BD, 62% had had PTS and 18% had had severe PTS. Patients with PTS had had greater reflux (P = .054) and thrombosis (P = .02) scores compared with patients without PTS. Treatment with anticoagulation (AC), immunosuppressive (IS) therapy, or AC combined with IS drugs did not affect the occurrence of PTS. However, patients treated with IS therapy, with or without AC drugs, had a decreased incidence of severe PTS compared with the AC-only group (P = .017). Patients treated with AC plus IS agents also had increased collateral scores compared with patients treated with only IS drugs. Interferon-a use seemed to provide better recanalization scores compared with azathioprine only (1.0 [range, 0-14] vs 2.5 [range, 0-10]; P = .010). Conclusions: Patients with BD and DVT have a high risk of developing severe PTS. IS treatment decreases the development of severe PTS. AC therapy might influence the course of PTS by increasing the collateral scores, and the use of interferon-a also increased recanalization scores. Routine assessment with Doppler US examinations could be helpful in the prediction of severe PTS. (J Vasc Surg Venous Lymphat Disord 2021;9:1451-9.)

Compared to biological agents, little is known about the impact of sulfasalazine therapy on COVID-19 outcomes in patients with Axial Spondyloarthritis (AxSpA). Therefore, we aimed to evaluate the COVID-19 severity in AxSpAs receiving sulfasalazine and biologic-agent.A total of 219 SARS-CoV-2 positive AxSpA patients were retrospectively analyzed. COVID-19 pneumonia, hospitalization rate, and length of stay were used to determine COVID-19 severity. AxSpA patients were mainly grouped and compared as sulfasalazine and non-sulfasalazine. Afterward, we excluded no-treatment patients to reveal the drug's effects more clearly and regrouped AxSpA patients as sulfasalazine-monotherapy (34.3%), biologic-monotherapy (33.7%), and sulfasalazine + biologic (7.3%).Fifty-nine percent of the patients were male and the mean age was 45.0 years. Peripheral arthritis was 35% and uveitis 15%. In total, 41.5% of them have received sulfasalazine and 41.0% biologic agents, and the remaining patients with no AxSpA-specific treatment. In the first comparison, the sulfasalazine group had a higher age, more frequent COVID-19 pneumonia, hospitalization, and longer hospitalization than a non-sulfasalazine group. In the pairwise comparison of 3 treatment groups, the demographic and clinical features, the hospitalization rate and the length of hospital stay were similar but the sulfasalazine-monotherapy group had a higher frequency of COVID-19 pneumonia than the biologic-monotherapy group (23% vs. 7%,Our results imply sulfasalazine may be related to more severe COVID-19 in AxSpA patients. These patients should be followed more carefully in the presence of COVID-19, regardless of reasons such as age, comorbidity, and extra-axial disease, and consideration of discontinuing sulfasalazine maybe even thought.

Objectives The aim of this study is to investigate the outcomes of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in our cohort of Behçet’s disease (BD) patients and to reveal the rate of BD exacerbations due to COVID-19. Methods Patients who have been followed with a diagnosis of BD were retrospectively investigated for a positive severe acute respiratory syndrome–coronavirus 2 polymerized chain reaction (PCR) test. Data regarding demographics, clinical features and COVID-19 outcomes were collected from medical records for patients with a positive PCR. PCR-positive patients were reached via phone numbers, and ‘Behçet’s Disease Current Activity Form’ (BDCAF) scores for pre- and post-COVID-19 BD symptoms were calculated. Results Out of a total 648 BD patients, 59 were detected to have a positive PCR test. Three of the 59 patients (5.0%) were found to be hospitalized, none of them was admitted to the ICU or died. An increasing trend in the frequency of comorbid diseases and older age was observed in hospitalized patients. 32.2% of BD patients suffered from exacerbation of at least one symptom related to BD. Conclusions We observed no ICU admission or mortality with COVID-19 in our BD patient cohort. A substantial number of patients suffered from exacerbation of BD symptoms.

Objective: Metabolic syndrome (MetS) is one of the preventable risk factors for cardiovascular disease (CVD). The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of MetS on CVD and cumulative organ damage in a multi-center, large cohort of patients with Takayasu arteritis (TAK). Methods: This is a cross-sectional study involving 192 consecutive TAK patients from seven tertiary rheumatology centers in Turkey. Clinical data of TAK patients fulfilling the 1990 American College of Rheumatology classification criteria were collected from medical records. They were evaluated for risk factors of CVD, disease activity, damage, and MetS at their last visits. Results: A total of 192 consecutive TAK patients were included in this study. One hundred and fifty-eight (82%) were female, the mean age was 43.3 +/- 13 years, and mean disease duration was 13.5 +/- 9.3 years. MetS was detected in 50 (26%) of the patients and CVD was detected in 28 (14.6%). The presence of MetS was detected as an independent risk factor for CVD (P < 0.001). In addition, the mean vasculitis damage index of the group with MetS was significantly higher than in the other patients (4.5 +/- 3.3 vs 3.2 +/- 2.2, respectively, P = 0.004). Conclusion: The presence of MetS in TAK is associated with increased CVD and disease damage. Awareness and management of MetS can improve disease prognosis in patients with TAK.

Vaccination represents a cornerstone in mastering the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic. There is a paucity of data regarding the safety of COVID-19 vaccines in patients with rheumatic diseases such as Behçet syndrome (BS). The present study aimed to investigate the side-effects and post-vaccine disease exacerbation rates of COVID-19 vaccines in a BS cohort.We retrospectively evaluated 450 BS patients followed in our clinic who met the criteria of the International Study Group. COVID-19 vaccination status, type of vaccine received (Pfizer-BioNTech vs CoronaVac), post-vaccine side-effects and exacerbations were evaluated by interviewing patients over the phone or face to face. Behçet's Disease Current Activity Form (BDCAF) scores were calculated for BS symptoms before and after vaccination.In all, 287 patients received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. Of the total number of COVID-19 vaccines (n = 639), 379 (59%) were Pfizer-BioNTech vaccines and 257 (41%) were CoronaVac vaccines. The number of side-effects after first, second, third and fourth vaccine doses were 151 (52.6%), 135 (49.4%), 29 (42.6%), and 3 (30%), respectively. BS exacerbation after first, second, third, and fourth vaccine doses were 151 (52.6%), 135 (49.4%), 16 (23.5%), and 3 (30%), respectively. Injection site pain/swelling was the most common side-effect at all vaccine doses followed by fatigue and arthralgia.COVID-19 vaccines are well tolerated in patients with BS, and more side-effects develop after mRNA vaccines. Regardless of the vaccine type, exacerbations after the COVID-19 vaccine are common, predominantly mucocutaneous and articular involvement, and exacerbations in the form of other organ involvement are rare.

To determine frequency of adverse events and attacks related to vaccination in recipients of CoronaVac and BNT162b2 in familial Mediterranean fever (FMF) patients, and to search whether history of prior COVID-19 or a booster dose increases occurrence of adverse events/attacks.FMF patients were surveyed for administration of any COVID-19 vaccine and vaccine-related adverse events or FMF attacks. Demographic, clinical, vaccine-related data, history of COVID-19 infection before or after vaccination, adherence to FMF treatment during vaccination were collected.A total of 161 vaccinated FMF patients were included. Ninety-three patients out of 161 had reported suffering from an adverse event/attack after a vaccine dose. There were 54.7% of BNT162b2 recipients who reported any adverse event after any vaccine dose in comparison to 29.9% of CoronaVac recipients (P .001). There were 22.2% of BNT162b2 recipients who reported suffering from a FMF attack within 1 month after vaccination in comparison to 19.4% of CoronaVac recipients (P = .653). When patients with or without adverse event/attack were compared, no significant differences were observed in means of demographics, comorbid diseases, disease duration, total vaccine doses, or treatments adhered to for FMF. Rates of adverse events/attacks were similar between patients with and without prior COVID-19. In booster recipients, adverse events/attacks were most frequent after the booster dose.A considerable number of FMF patients suffered from vaccine-related adverse events/attacks, particularly with BNT162b2. No serious events or mortalities due to vaccination were detected. Demographics, clinical characteristics and prior history of vaccination did not significantly affect these results. We observed an increased rate of adverse events/attacks with booster dose administration.

Aim of this study is to investigate the course of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), in our cohort of familial Mediterranean fever (FMF) patients in means of mortality, admission to hospital and/or intensive care unit and length of hospital stay.A retrospective cohort was formed from patients who have previously been followed with a diagnosis of FMF. Patients of this cohort were retrospectively evaluated for a positive severe acute respiratory syndrome-coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV 2) polymerized chain reaction (PCR) test result and information regarding hospitalisation, intensive care unit admission and mortality were collected from medical records.Out of a total 496 FMF patients, 34 were detected to have a positive SARS-CoV 2 PCR test. Eighty-five point three percent of these patients were under colchicine treatment and 17.6% were under interleukin (IL)—1 inhibitor treatment. Eight of the 34 patients (23.9%) were found to be hospitalized, one of them was admitted to the intensive care unit and died thereafter (2.9%). An increasing trend in the frequency of comorbid diseases (presence of at least one comorbidity 64.7% in all patients vs 75.0% in hospitalized patients) and IL-1 inhibitor usage (17.6% in all patients vs 50.0% in hospitalized patients) was observed in hospitalized patients.Rates of comorbid diseases and IL-1 inhibitor use for FMF were observed to be increased in FMF patients hospitalized for COVID-19.

Background: Recurrent aphthous stomatitis (RAS) is a common painful lesion affecting millions of people. This population-based epidemiological study aimed to determine the frequency of recurrent aphthous stomatitis in the population and associated diseases and factors.Methods: In 2013, by the Turkish Society of Internal Medicine, a cohort for chronic diseases and related risk factors was initiated in the Central Anatolia Region of Turkey (Cappadocia region). 90% of the whole adult population was included and photos of oral aphthae were used during the questionnaire for chronic diseases. Background/aim: Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a demyelinating central nervous system disorder with few cases reported to have concomitant spondyloarthritis (SpA) spectrum disorders such as ankylosing spondylitis and psoriatic arthritis. The aim of this study is to evaluate the effectiveness of secukinumab in the treatment of MS and accompanying ankylosing spondylitis or psoriatic arthritis. Materials & methods: In addition to four cases of their own, the authors conducted a systematic literature search. Demographics, comorbidities, symptoms of MS and SpA, medical treatments and changes in clinical and laboratory findings with treatment were recorded. Results & conclusions: After secukinumab therapy, all patients were found to have treatment response regarding axial involvement, without any progression of MS observed. For both SpA spectrum diseases and MS, secukinumab may be an appropriate choice.
