Abstract Nano round polycrystalline adsorbent (NRPA) of chicken bones origin was utilize as effective adsorbent in Congo red dye removal via aqueous media. The NRPA adsorbent was prepared via thermal decomposition and its structure was investigated with the aids of Transmission Electron Microscopy, Fourier Infrared Spectroscopy (FT-IR), Scanning Electron Microscopy, Energy Dispersive X-ray Analysis (EDX), and X-ray Diffractometer (XRD). A monophasic apatite phase was confirmed from XRD investigation, while functional groups analysis showed that NRPA possessed CO3 2− , PO4 3− and OH− absorption bands. The maximum adsorption capacities derived from Langmuir isotherm is 98.216 mg g−1. From the combined values of n from Freundlich and separation factor (RL) of Langmuir models, the adsorption of CR by NRPA is favourable. Thermodynamic values of 5.280 kJ mol−1 and 16.403 kJ mol−1 K−1 were found for ΔH° and ΔS° respectively. The entire values of ΔG° which ranges from − 35.248 to − 459.68 kJ mol−1 were all negative at different temperatures. Thus, nano polycrystalline adsorbent of chicken bone origin can serve as excellent adsorbent in Congo red dye removal from waste water.

Abstract The need for bioactive and non-toxic biomaterials is on a high demand in tissue engineering applications nowadays. Hydroxyapatite (HAp) is the chief constituent of teeth and bones in mammas. One of the major challenges with the use of HAp in engineering application is its brittleness and to overcome this, it’s important to react it with a material that can enhanced it’s fragility. To this end, HAp and HAp/clay nanocomposites were developed via wet chemical process to mimic natural HAp and to equally confer special properties such as mechanical properties, high surface area, crystallinity, high porosity, and biocompatibility on the biomaterial. The functional groups properties of the as-prepared nanocomposites analyzed by FT-IR showed that the HAp and clay posed reactive centers such as Al–Al–OH, Si–Si–OH, Si–O, PO4 3−, –OH, and Si–O–Al. The XRD results confirmed the formation of HAp/clay nanocomposite, while SEM and TEM images showed the morphologies of the prepared nanocomposites to be round shape particles. Besides, EDX result revealed the Ca/P ratio of HAp and HAp-C to be lower than that of stoichiometric ratio (1.67) which implies the presence of K, Na, Ca, Mg, Si and Al in the HAp/clay nanocomposite. The mechanical properties of the apatite were greatly enhanced by the addition of clay. The physiological behaviour of the fabricated apatite composites in saline solution showed steady increase in the values of the saline pH of the various biomolecules until day 5 and became fairly constant at day 7 with pH range of 7.30–7.38. Though the saline solution was acidic at the beginning due to dissolved carbon dioxide, the pH of the saline solution containing the nanocomposites gradually became neutral and fairly alkaline over time as a result of the presence of Lewis basis structures in the composites which helps in neutralizing the acidic solution. Furthermore, proliferation of apatites particles onto the surface of the nanocomposites was observed after treatment with simulated body fluids (SBF) media for 7 days. Thus, HAp/clay nanocomposites can be useful biomaterials in bone tissue engineering.

Irrigation of crops with domestic wastewater (DW) is a common practice in developing countries like India. However, domestic wastewater irrigation poses a risk of migration of toxic heavy metals to edible parts of crops, which requires serious measures to prevent their uptake. In this study, the effect of DW irrigation in comparison with Sarbal Lake water (SLW) and borewell water (BW) on soil characteristics and cultivated saffron (Crocus sativus L.) was investigated. Abstract We propose ANN-based models to analyze and extract the internal parameters of a Schottky photodiode (SPD) without presenting them with any knowledge of the highly nonlinear thermionic emission (TE) expression of the device current. We train, evaluate and demonstrate the ML models on thirty-six private datasets from three previously published devices, which denote current responses under illumination and ambient temperature of graphene oxide (GO) doped p-Si Schottky barrier diodes (SBDs). The GO doping levels are 0%, 1%, 3%, 5%, and 10%. The illumination ranged from dark (0 mW/cm2) to 30 mW/cm2. The predictions are then made completely at the intensity of 60 mW/cm2. For each diode, some values of the barrier height ( $$\phi $$ ϕ ), ideality factor (n), and series resistance ( $$R_s$$ R s ) independently calculated using the Cheung–Cheung method were included in the training dataset. The predictions are done at unspecified intensities on the model development data at 80 and 100 mW/cm2, and on external data at 5% and 20% GO doping which were not part of the development dataset. The ANN achieved a mean square error and mean absolute error score below 0.003 across all datasets. This demonstrates the effective learning capabilities of the ANN models in accurately capturing the photo responses of the photodiodes and accurately predicting the internal parameters of the Schottky Barrier Diodes (SBDs), all without relying on an inherent understanding of the thermionic emission (TE) equation for SBDs. The ANN models achieved high accuracy in this process. The proposed ML models can significantly reduce analysis time in device development cycles and can be applied to other datasets in various fields.

Computed Tomography (CT) is vital for diagnosing and monitoring medical conditions. However, increased usage raises concerns about patient radiation exposure. Diagnostic Reference Levels (DRLs) aim to minimize radiation doses in CT imaging. This study examines CT DRLs in India compared to other countries to identify optimization opportunities. A literature review was conducted to gather data from published studies, guidelines, and regulatory authorities. Findings show significant international variations in CT DRLs, with differences up to 50%. In India, DRLs also vary significantly across states. For head CT exams, Indian DRLs are generally 20–30% lower than international standards (27–47 mGy vs. 60 mGy). Conversely, for abdominal CT scans, Indian DRLs are 10–15% higher (12–16 mGy vs. 13 mGy). Factors influencing DRL variations include equipment differences, imaging protocols, patient demographics, and regulatory conditions. Dose-optimization techniques like automatic exposure control and iterative reconstruction can reduce radiation exposure by 25–60% while maintaining image quality. Comparative data highlight best practices, such as the United Kingdom’s 30% reduction in CT doses from 1984 to 1995 via DRL implementation. This study suggests that adopting similar practices in India could reduce radiation doses by 20–40% for common CT procedures, promoting responsible CT usage and minimizing patient exposure.

Hybrid material-derived adsorbents have shown a great applicable efficiency in various fields, including industrial uses and environmental remediation. Herein, zinc oxide nanoparticle modified with carbon (ZnO-C) was fabricated and utilized for wastewater treatment through the adsorption of Zn(II), Cd(II), Co(II), and Mn(II). The surface and structural characteristics were examined using TEM, SEM, XRD, FTIR spectroscopy, EDS, and the BET surface area. Kinetics and equilibrium investigations were applied to optimize the adsorptive removal of Zn(II), Cd(II), Co(II), and Mn(II) onto ZnO-C. The results indicated that the formation of ZnO-C in crystalline sphere-like granules with a nano-size between 16 and 68 nm together with carbon matrix. In addition, the spherical granules of zinc oxide were gathered to form clusters. FTIR spectroscopy indicated that the ZnO-C surface was rich with OH groups and ZnO. The adsorption capacity 215, 213, 206, and 231 mg/g for Zn(II), Cd(II), Co(II), and Mn(II), respectively, at the optimal conditions pH between 5 and 6, a contact time of 180 min, and an adsorbent dose of 0.1 g/L. The adsorptive removal data modeling for the uptake of Zn(II), Cd(II), Co(II), and Mn(II) onto ZnO-C showed agreement with the assumption of the pseudo-second-order kinetic model and the Freundlich isotherm, suggesting a fast adsorption rate and a multilayered mechanism. The achieved adsorption capacity using the prepared ZnO-C was more effective compared to ZnO, carbon, Fe3O4, and Fe3O4-C. Real wastewater samples were applied, including valley water, industrial wastewater, and rain wastewater, and evaluated for the applicable uptake of Zn(II), Cd(II), Co(II), and Mn(II) using ZnO-C and Fe3O4-C with effective removal efficiency.

Abstract Sensing devices are key nodes for information detection, processing, and conversion and are widely applied in different fields such as industrial production, environmental monitoring, and defense. However, increasing demand of these devices has complicated the application scenarios and diversified the detection targets thereby promoting the continuous development of sensing materials and detection methods. In recent years, Tin+1CnTx (n = 1, 2, 3) MXenes with outstanding optical, electrical, thermal, and mechanical properties have been developed as ideal candidates of sensing materials to apply in physical, chemical, and biological sensing fields. In this review, depending on optical and electrical sensing signals, we systematically summarize the application of Tin+1CnTx in nine categories of sensors such as strain, gas, and fluorescence sensors. The excellent sensing properties of Tin+1CnTx allow its further development in emerging intelligent and bionic devices, including smart flexible devices, bionic E-skin, neural network coding and learning, bionic soft robot, as well as intelligent artificial eardrum, which are all discussed briefly in this review. Finally, we present a positive outlook on the potential future challenges and perspectives of MXene-based sensors. MXenes have shown a vigorous development momentum in sensing applications and can drive the development of an increasing number of new technologies.

This study addresses the critical issue of removing copper(II) ions from water using an eco-friendly approach with natural biomaterials. Alginate, a natural polysaccharide, is employed as the primary adsorption material. The study involves the conversion of alginate into nanoparticles, and a ternary blend is prepared by mixing alginate nanoparticles with carboxymethyl cellulose and polyethylene glycol (AL-NPs/CMC/PEG). The blend's morphological and structural transformations have been comprehensively investigated using techniques such as DLS, FT-IR, XRD, TGA, and SEM. Batch experiments were conducted systematically to investigate crucial parameters, such as contact time (60–300 min), initial copper concentration (62.5 ppm–1000 ppm), solution pH (2–8), and adsorbent dosage (1–5 g). The results obtained are highly encouraging, revealing an impressive 80.9 % efficiency in the removal of copper ions. The acquired experimental data were then subjected to analysis with Langmuir and Freundlich, isotherm, as well as pseudo-first and pseudo-second-order kinetics studies. The outcomes from these isotherm and kinetics models indicated a favorable fit with the Freundlich isotherm, suggesting a strong affinity between the adsorbent and the metal ions. Furthermore, the kinetic studies revealed that the adsorption process closely adheres to pseudo-second-order kinetics, underlining the efficiency and reliability of the adsorption process. From desorption studies, 0.1 M HCl was an extremely effective eluant when compared to HNO3 and EDTA. It could be reused three time with appreciate efficiency. The research underscores the potential for an environmentally sustainable solution to address the persistent environmental challenge posed by copper ion contamination.

A novel non-centrosymmetric Cadmium Metal-Organic Framework (Cd-MOF) crystal with chemical formula CdC8N8H14O2S4 was synthesized and characterized. The band structure and optical limiting properties of the Cd-MOF were investigated using Band structure calculations and Optical limiting studies. The band structure analysis showed that the crystal displayed a larger, highly dispersive band, highlighting significant anisotropic n-channel charge carrier mobility. The optical limiting study demonstrated that the Cd-MOF exhibited Reverse Saturable Absorption (RSA) behaviour with an optical limiting threshold value of 1094 kW/cm2. The NLO behaviour of the Cd-MOF provides a promising potential for its application in NLO devices.

The research article investigates the effect of incorporating the guanidinium carbonate (GuC) salt into the poly vinylpyrrolidone (PVP) and polyethylene oxide (PEO) polymer matrix. Various weight percentages of GuC enriched PVP/PEO solid polymer electrolytes (SPEs) have been prepared by the simplest solution casting process. XRD analysis revealed that the incorporation of the GuC salt led to changes in the crystalline structure of the PVP/PEO. FTIR analysis confirms the presence of guanidinium carbonate in the blended polymeric system. FESEM imaging showed the uniform and smooth surface view of the electrolytes. DSC analysis suggests that the addition of the GuC led to a decrease in the melting temperature and an increase in the crystallisation temperature. The temperature-dependent dielectric analysis showed that the presence of the organic salt led to an increase in the dielectric constant of the polymer blend. Among all the prepared electrolytes, 25 wt.% GuC added polymer electrolyte achieved a higher conductivity of 3.00764 × 10−7 S/cm. Overall, the results of the study suggest that the incorporation of the GuC salt into the PVP/PEO can lead to significant changes in the structural, thermal, and dielectric properties of the blend. These findings have potential implications for the use of PVP/PEO blends in solid state battery applications.

Background: Hyperglycemia usually impairs wound healing by dysregulating the inflammatory response and angiogenesis. This study aimed to examine the synergistic effect of dapagliflozin and Zamzam water (ZW) on the healing of diabetic wounds and to explore their anti-inflammatory and proangiogenic effects. Materials and methods: A full-thickness excisional wound was made on the backs of all groups after two weeks of diabetes induction. Forty rats were divided into five groups, with eight rats per group; Group 1: Control non-diabetic rats; Group II: Untreated diabetic rats; Group III: Diabetic rats drinking ZW; Group IV: Diabetic rats receiving an oral dose of 1 mg/kg dapagliflozin; and Group V: Received both dapagliflozin and ZW. IntroductionRecent studies have reported a strong relationship between diabetes and anxiety- and depression-like behaviors; however, there is a lack of information on the underlying pathophysiology. Alkaline Zamzam water (ZW), which is rich in several trace elements, has neuroprotective properties. The versatility of organic ligand and metal coordination geometry produced coordination polymer with intriguing network structure and exciting functional properties. Herein, we have synthesized a copper coordination polymer (Cu-HS) using an amino acid based multidentate ligand and explored its electrocatalytic OER activity in alkaline condition. Single crystal structural studies showed the formation of 1D coordination network structure and inclusion of lattice water. Copper ions in Cu-HS displayed octahedral and square pyramidal coordination geometry. Electrocatalytic OER studies in alkaline medium showed strongly enhanced activity for Cu-HS polymer that required an overpotential of 273 mV to achieve the benchmark current density of 10 mA/cm2. Tafel slope analysis and electrochemical impedance studies suggested faster reaction kinetics at the electrode surface modified using Cu-HS. After catalysis, XPS and FTIR spectra of Cu-HS suggested the conversion to metal oxide during the electrocatalysis.

The purpose of the research was to examine how the addition of dilute solutions of sodium chloride (NaCl), potassium chloride (KCl), or a combination of the two would impact the tear ferning (TF) patterns in artificial tears. Artificial tears (1 μL) were mixed with solutions (1–7 μL) of NaCl, KCl, or both (10–30 mg), prepared in double-distilled water (100 mL), to produce homogenous mixtures. A sample (1 μL) of each mixture was dried on a microscopic glass slide at 20 °C and with less than 20% humidity. The TF patterns were inspected using a light microscope, graded, and compared with the corresponding TF grades of pure artificial tears. Significant improvements (Wilcoxon test, P = 0.001) in the TF grades of the artificial tears were observed after the addition of solutions of NaCl and KCl or a mixture of both. The TF grades of the artificial tears decreased after adding different volumes and concentrations of electrolyte solutions. Generally, NaCl was more efficient than KCl in improving such grades. The TF grades of Blink Contact Soothing Eye Drops and Refresh Plus Tears were noticeably improved compared to the other grades. For example, Blink Contact Soothing Eye Drops' TF grade improved from 1.7 to 0.6 when 6 μL of NaCl solution (30 mg/100 mL water) was added to 1 μL of the eye drops. When a mixture of NaCl and KCl (1:2; 5–7 μL; 30 mg each in 100 mL water) was added, the TF grade improved to 0.5. In conclusion, the TF test evaluated the effect of adding dilute electrolyte solutions to artificial tears in vitro. Adding dilute solutions of NaCl and KCl, or a mixture of both, significantly improved the TF grades of artificial tears.

Abstract Since the end of 2019, a highly contagious disease caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) has deprived numerous lives worldwide, called COVID-19. Up to date, omicron is the latest variant of concern, and BA.5 is replacing the BA.2 variant to become the main subtype rampaging worldwide. These subtypes harbor an L452R mutation, which increases their transmissibility among vaccinated people. Current methods for identifying SARS-CoV-2 variants are mainly based on polymerase chain reaction (PCR) followed by gene sequencing, making time-consuming processes and expensive instrumentation indispensable. In this study, we developed a rapid and ultrasensitive electrochemical biosensor to achieve the goals of high sensitivity, the ability of distinguishing the variants, and the direct detection of RNAs from viruses simultaneously. We used electrodes made of MXene-AuNP (gold nanoparticle) composites for improved sensitivity and the CRISPR/Cas13a system for high specificity in detecting the single-base L452R mutation in RNAs and clinical samples. Our biosensor will be an excellent supplement to the RT-qPCR method enabling the early diagnosis and quick distinguishment of SARS-CoV-2 Omicron BA.5 and BA.2 variants and more potential variants that might arise in the future.

Medical microwave imaging (MWI) research has gained more attention in recent decades, particularly with regard to the early detection of brain tumors. It offers numerous benefits over existing imaging technologies, including magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and computed tomography (CT) scans. Antennas represent a key element of MWI systems, so optimizing their performance is critical. A new, simple patch antenna for MWI is presented in this article. The radiating patch has a circular slot and a tiny triangular cut at the top right corner, and it is designed and manufactured with a low-cost FR4-epoxy substrate with a loss tangent of 0.02 and a dielectric constant of 4.4. The presented manuscript represents the superlative 1 × 2 MIMO antenna structure. Eight designs were analyzed by the patch elements' varying shapes and inserting the slits in the ground regions. The overall dimensions of the structure are 50 × 39 × 1.6 (mm3). The low-profile substrate FR4 is used for the fabrication, and the reflectance response of simulated and measured designs are compared. The insertion L shaped slits in the ground region and engraving of the patch elements provide the wider isolation bands. The minimum S11 is −67.53 dB, a broader bandwidth of 5.653 GHz, and a peak gain of 8.72 dBi. The design concert also analyzed ECC, CCL, TARC and DG. These results reflect the presented design's behaviour as per the standard requirements. The response of the design is also compared with the previously published works to identify the improvement. The work targets wireless applications like WLAN, weather broadcast, Satellite and Military.

Recently, germanium (Ge) was also considered as the two-dimensional (2D) material saturable absorber (SA) because of its excellent nonlinear saturable absorption properties. However, the research of Ge SA Er-doped fiber laser is still rare. In this work, bound state solitons were demonstrated in Ge SA Er-doped fiber laser. To be best of our knowledge, no previous work has ever achieved that. Three kinds of bound state solitons with 9.77 MHz fundamental frequency were investigated, indicating that Ge has excellent nonlinear optical characteristics to promote the development of bound state soliton.

Breast cancer is a major health threat to women globally. Many circulating microRNAs are non-invasive cancer biomarkers. In this study, the expression of miR-29b and miR-31 was assessed in blood samples from 200 patients with breast cancer and wholesome volunteer women using quantitative reverse transcriptase PCR to evaluate their role in the disease. MiR-29b was significantly overexpressed in patients compared to controls. Multivariate regression analysis showed that it was an established risk factor for relapse and mortality. MiR-31 was significantly under-expressed in patients. It was an established risk factor for relapse and was strongly associated with mortality. For the prediction of relapse, miR-29b had a sensitivity of 81.25% and a specificity of 88.24% at a cutoff of > 30.09, while miR-31 had a sensitivity of 87.50% and a specificity of 79.41% at a cutoff of 0.12. The specificity was enhanced to 100% by combining the values of miR-29b and miR-31. In predicting mortality, miR-29b exhibited a sensitivity of 90% and a specificity of 97.5% at a cutoff of > 48.10. At a cutoff of 0.119, miR-31 exhibited a sensitivity of 87.50% and a specificity of 79.41%. High miR-29b expression and low miR-31 expression were linked with a low survival rate. MiR-29b and miR-31 could be useful markers for predicting breast cancer relapse and mortality.

A novel single material-based anti-resonant fiber is designed, investigated, and explored in this article with supports of up to 64 OAM modes over the 0.6 μm to 1.0 μm as operating wavelength. The other properties of the designed fiber including confinement loss (CL), OAM purity, effective refractive index differences (ERIDs), and dispersion variations provide the exceptional output. This fiber, the CL approximately varies between the 5.7031 × 10−5 dB/m to 9.2537 × 10−4 dB/m, the OAM purity is 97% to 99%, the ERIDs are higher than 10-4 for all the modes, and the least dispersion variations is −8.838 ps/km-nm for the EH1,1 mode. All the outstanding properties of the presented fiber are calculated using the FEM and the PML within the COMSOL Multiphysics simulator. Therefore, to the ideal of our knowledge, the proposed anti-resonant fiber is mostly applicable in the high-quality long-distance fiber communications system.

Abstract Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is a highly contagious disease caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). The gold standard method for the diagnosis of SARS-CoV-2 depends on quantitative reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction till now, which is time-consuming and requires expensive instrumentation, and the confirmation of variants relies on further sequencing techniques. Herein, we first proposed a robust technique-methodology of electrochemical CRISPR sensing with the advantages of rapid, highly sensitivity and specificity for the detection of SARS-CoV-2 variant. To enhance the sensing capability, gold electrodes are uniformly decorated with electro-deposited gold nanoparticles. Using DNA template identical to SARS-CoV-2 Delta spike gene sequence as model, our biosensor exhibits excellent analytical detection limit (50 fM) and high linearity (R 2 = 0.987) over six orders of magnitude dynamic range from 100 fM to 10 nM without any nucleic-acid-amplification assays. The detection can be completed within 1 h with high stability and specificity which benefits from the CRISPR-Cas system. Furthermore, based on the wireless micro-electrochemical platform, the proposed biosensor reveals promising application ability in point-of-care testing.

In this article, evidence for the existence of illumination and bias-dependent negative differential conductance (NDC) in Ni-doped Al/ZnO/p-Si Schottky diodes, and the possible mechanism for its origin, are presented. The atomic percentages of Ni doping were 0%, 3%, 5%, and 10%. NDC is observed between -1.5 V to -0.5 V in reverse bias under illumination, but only at certain doping levels and specific forward bias. Furthermore, the devices show excellent optoelectronic characteristics in the photoconductive and photovoltaic modes, with device open circuit voltages ranging from 0.03 V to 0.6 V under illumination.

Abstract This article presents a novel metamaterial (MTM) with a mirror symmetric resonator that exhibits multiple resonances of transmission coefficient covering the L, S, C, and X bands. The resonating patch is constructed on a low-loss Rogers (RT5880) substrate with a dimension of 20 × 20 × 1.575 mm3. It consists of four equal quartiles with each quartile made with interconnected split-ring resonators; the quartiles are in mirror symmetry with each other. The proposed MTM exhibits resonances at 1.98 GHz, 3.67 GHz, 4.74 GHz, 8.38 GHz, and 10.8 GHz, and electromagnetic characterization is performed through studies of permittivity, permeability, refractive index, and impedances. Power analysis is also performed, and the effect of polarized incident waves is studied. An electromagnetic characterization study reveals that the proposed MTM shows negative permittivity with near-zero permeability and refractive index. It also reveals very little power consumption in the vicinity of the resonances. The dielectric-based frequency tuning is studied by using different dielectric layers over the patch that provides good frequency tuning; this method provides flexibility for adjusting the resonance frequencies in accordance with the application demand. The measured result of the proposed unit cell with the dielectric layer is extracted using a vector network analyzer, and the results exhibit good similarity with the simulated ones. The above-mentioned properties, along with a good effective medium ratio (EMR) of 7.57 indicate that this MTM is suitable for frequency selective applications in microwave devices such as antenna performance improvement and sensing.

In this work, mineral trioxide and graphene oxide manipulated the morphological and biological potential of hydroxyapatite-based nanocomposites. XRD, FTIR, XPS, and EDS were used to perform the structural and chemical composition of HAP, pure Bi2O3, HAP/Bi2O3, HAP/GO, and HAP/Bi2O3/GO composites. The morphological alteration is investigated by TEM and FESEM techniques, followed by roughness parameters calculations. TEM micrographs confirm that the encapsulation of HAP through GO nanosheets to form HAP/GO reduces the agglomeration of HAP grains to appear separately on graphene wafers with sizes ranging from 11.4 to 28.5 nm, while HAP grains are sized from 11.4 to 22.8 nm. FESEM micrographs show that the combination of the three gradients (HAP, Bi2O3, and GO) cause well-defined grains, besides leaving wide pores in-between grain bundles, besides hitting grain size in scope that starts from 20 to 35 nm. Triple composite (HAP/Bi2O3/GO) records a higher roughness average than binary composites (HAP Bi2O3, and HAP/GO) with a value of 33.3 nm. Moreover, integration of the three components boosts the cell viability potential to record the uppermost percentage of 98.7 ± 2%, with clear enhancement in anti-microbial activity with an inhibition area of 25.7 ± 1.9 mm against Escherichia coli and 24.8 ± 1.8 mm in case of Staphylococcus.aureus.

Abstract In this paper, we present an analytical study for the investigation of the effects of the magnetoelectric elements of a reciprocal and nonreciprocal bianisotropic grounded substrate on the input impedance, resonant length of a dipole antenna as well as on the mutual coupling between two element printed dipole array in three configuration geometries: broadside, collinear and echelon printed on the same material. This study examines also the effect of the considered bianisotropic medium on the electric and magnetic field distributions that has been less addressed in the literature for antenna structures. Computations are based on the numerical resolution, using the spectral method of moments, of the integral equation developed through the mathematical derivation of the appropriate spectral Green’s functions of the studied dipole configuration. Original results, for chiral, achiral, Tellegen and general bi-anisotropic media cases, are obtained and discussed with the electric and magnetic field distributions for a better understanding and interpretation. These interesting results can serve as a stepping stone for further works to attract more attention to the reciprocal and non-reciprocal Tellgen media in-depth studies.

Abstract A couple ring enclosed circular geometric resonator (CRECGR) based dual-band polarization insensitive metamaterial (MM) with high effective medium ratio (EMR), and excellent absorptance is proposed in this study, which can be utilized as a sensor and absorber in the 5G sub-6 GHz frequency range. A circular geometry-based unique patch has been introduced in the proposed unit cell to achieve high polarization insensitive properties with excellent absorption for the 5G sub-6 GHz spectrum. The distinctive feature of this proposed CRECGR unit cell is its simple and unique structure with a high EMR of 11.13, polarization insensitive up to 180°, and epsilon negative (ENG) properties, including a negative refractive index and near-zero permeability for 5G sub-6 GHz applications. Furthermore, this designed unit cell yields excellent absorption properties with high quality factor. The designed MM unit cell is fabricated on low loss Rogers RT5880 printed media with an electrical dimension of 0.089λ × 0.089λ × 0.017λ. The performance of the designed CRECGR metamaterial is determined using Computer Simulation Technology (CST), Advanced Design Software (ADS), and measurements. The CRECGR unit cell offers dual resonances at 3.37 GHz and 5.8 GHz, covering the 5G sub-6 GHz band with ENG, near-zero permeability and negative index. The polarization insensitive properties of the unit cell were also investigated for maximum angle of incidence, which confirmed the identical response. The simulated outcome is verified by experiment with excellent accordance. Moreover, the unit cell performance with a complete backplane is explored, noting a maximum absorption of 99.9% for all normal and oblique incidence waves, suitable for sensing and antenna systems. In addition, the suggested unit cell sensing performance is evaluated using the permittivity-based sensing model. The proposed MM outperforms recent related studies in terms of polarization insensitivity up to 180°, high insensitive absorptivity, high EMR, and sensing applications. These features prove that the proposed CRECGR metamaterial is perfect for 5G Applications.

Significant advancements have been made in the development of CO2 reduction processes for applications such as electrosynthesis, energy storage, and environmental remediation. Several materials have demonstrated great potential in achieving high activity and selectivity for the desired reduction products. Nevertheless, these advancements have primarily been limited to small-scale laboratory settings, and the considerable technical obstacles associated with large-scale CO2 reduction have not received sufficient attention. Many of the researchers have been faced with persistent challenges in the catalytic process, primarily stemming from the low Faraday efficiency, high overpotential, and low limiting current density observed in the production of the desired target product. The highlighted materials possess the capability to transform CO2 into various oxygenates, including ethanol, methanol, and formates, as well as hydrocarbons such as methane and ethane. A comprehensive summary of the recent research progress on these discussed types of electrocatalysts is provided, highlighting the detailed examination of their electrocatalytic activity enhancement strategies. This serves as a valuable reference for the development of highly efficient electrocatalysts with different orientations. This review encompasses the latest developments in catalyst materials and cell designs, presenting the leading materials utilized for the conversion of CO2 into various valuable products. Corresponding designs of cells and reactors are also included to provide a comprehensive overview of the advancements in this field.

A compact, dual polarized, multiband four-port flexible Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) antennae with the connected ground and high isolation is designed with computation and experimental measurement studies. All four monopole radiators are embedded decagon-shaped flexible FR-4 substrate with an outer radius of 10 mm in order to accomplish circularly polarized (CP) radiations, bandwidth enhancement, and compact size of only $45\times 38\times 0.2$ mm3 ( $0.375\lambda \times 0.316\lambda \times 0.0016\lambda $ , at lowest resonating frequency 2.5GHz). The interconnected ground structure is loaded with an Interlaced Lozenge Structure (ILS) to suppress the surface wave radiations resulting in low mutual coupling between the radiators. The proposed MIMO antenna demonstrates measured 10-dB impedance bandwidths of 9.63% (2.37–2.61 GHz), 28.79% (3.30–4.41 GHz), and 16.91% (4.98–5.90 GHz) in the LTE 38/40, Sub-6 GHz 5G NR n77/n78, WLAN and Wi-Fi bands, respectively. Furthermore, broad 3-dB Axial Ratio Bandwidth (ARBW) of 28.79% (3.30–4.41 GHz) with gain greater than 4 dBi and efficiency above 80% are achieved. Finally, the bending analysis of the proposed flexible MIMO antenna along the X- and Y- directions shows good performances in terms of scattering parameters, 3 dB ARBW, and MIMO diversity parameters.

Abstract Objectives E-cigarette use has become popular, particularly among the youth. Its use is associated with harmful general and oral health consequences. This survey aimed to assess self-reported oral hygiene practices, oral and general health events, and changes in physiological functions (including physical status, smell, taste, breathing, appetite, etc.) due to E-cigarette use among dental students. Methods This online, multicounty survey involved undergraduate dental students from 20 dental schools across 11 different countries. The questionnaire included demographic characteristics, E-cigarette practices, self-reported complaints, and associated physiological changes due to E-cigarette smoking. Data were descriptively presented as frequencies and percentages. A Chi-square test was used to assess the potential associations between the study group and sub-groups with the different factors. The revolutionary advancement in the capabilities of hardware tools, software packages, and communication techniques gave rise to the Internet of Things-supported drone networks (IoD), thereby enabling smooth communication among devices and applications, and impacting drastically the various aspects of human lives. However, with the increasing sophistication in the infrastructure of IoD, new security threats arise that require novel algorithms and schemes as solutions. To this end, several schemes have recently been proposed. However, some schemes cannot perfectly address the novel security aspects associated with IoD environments, while others cannot provide computational or communication efficiency. Motivated by these research gaps in the existing literature, we leverage elliptic curve cryptography along with symmetric encryption and hash function, and propose a novel and robust user authentication mechanism for the IoD, called RUAM-IoD. We validate the security of the established SK formally through the random oracle model. Similarly, we provide informal security analysis to demonstrate the security capabilities of RUAM-IoD against different pernicious security attacks. Likewise, we establish a comparison of the RUAM-IoD with several state-of-the-art authentication schemes to show that RUAM-IoD acquires less storage, communication, and computational cost.

In this work, a compact, light-weight, low-cost, and easy install and incorporate mmwave printed square loop antenna with a perturbed ground plane is proposed. The antenna is fabricated on an ultra-thin 0.254 mm Rogers RT/Duroid 5880 substrate. The antenna resonates between 26 GHz and 40 GHz providing the broad bandwidth of 13 GHz ( $\sim 47$ %). First, a single element consisting of three rectangular square loops and a transmission line with total dimensions of 9 mm $\times11$ mm ( $0.84\,\,\lambda _{0} \times 1\,\,\lambda _{0}$ ) is designed. The loop elements are arranged on top of each other and with the further insertion of square slot in ground plane, wideband resonance response has been achieved. The antenna demonstrates gain of more than 3.3 dBi, and radiation and a total efficiency of 98% at 28 GHz. The proposed design enables spatial diversity and minimize the effects of interference between adjacent channels by providing dual-beam within desired frequency band. In addition, a linear array ( $18.5\times22.5$ mm2) of four elements with a traditional feeding network is also designed, simulated, and measured. The gain of the array is 10.1 dBi, while the radiation and the total efficiency is more than 92 % at 28 GHz. A brief literature review and comparison of this work with other published works is also presented. To validate the proposed design and concept, a prototype is fabricated for both, a single element, and an array. It is found that the measured results and the computed results are in good agreement. Therefore, we believe that this system will find its applications within modern mmwave communication cellular devices.

ABSTRACTGreen nanotechnology is an eco-friendly method for the biosynthesis of metallic nanoparticles, which are being used due to their unique features and bio-applications in various fields. World Health Organization (WHO) stated that the use of medicinal plants to treat a variety of disorders, such as diabetes mellitus (DM), cancer, HIV infection, hepatitis, tuberculosis (TB), and malaria is very effective. Green synthesis is a cost-effective, environment- friendly, and safe method. There are a wide variety of native medicinal plants around the world, owing to their unique physical, chemical, and biological characteristics, used for gold and silver nanoparticle (NP) synthesis, and are potent among all metal nanoparticles. However, as an alternative to several traditional techniques to synthesize nanoparticles, green chemistry has arisen. This review covers the green synthesis of AuNPs/AgNPs and its significance as a potent anticancer and antidiabetic agent. All literature surveys will be helpful in terms of further progress as to go from summarizing or concluding data along challenges and future perceptions.

In this paper, we propose the concept of ∈,∈∨j∗,qj-fuzzy p-ideals in “BCI-algebras.” We show that “∈,∈∨q-fuzzy p-ideals” and “∈∨j∗,qj,∈∨j∗,qj-fuzzy p-ideals” are “∈,∈∨j∗,qj-fuzzy p-ideals.” However, the converse is not true, then presented examples. For a BCI-algebra Y^, it has been shown that every ∈,∈∨j∗,qj-fuzzy p-ideal of Y^ is an ∈,∈∨j∗,qj-fuzzy ideals of Y^but not conversely, and then, an example is given. Furthermore in Y^, a connection between ∈,∈∨j∗,qj-fuzzy p-ideals and p-ideals is established.

Sixteen fuberidazole derivatives as potential new anticancer bioreductive prodrugs were prepared and characterized. The in vitro anticancer potential was examined to explore their cytotoxic properties by employing apoptosis, DNA damage, and proliferation tests on chosen hypoxic cancer cells. Eight substances (Compound 5a, 5c, 5d, 5e, 5g, 5h, 5i, and 5m) showed promising cytotoxicity values compared to the standard control. The potential of compounds was also examined through in silico studies (against human serum albumin), including chem-informatics, to understand the structure-activity relationship (SAR), pharmacochemical strength, and the mode of interactions responsible for their action. The DFT calculations revealed that only the 5b compound showed the lowest ΔET (2.29 eV) while 5i showed relatively highest βtot (69.89 x 10-31 esu), highest αave (3.18 x 10-23 esu), and dipole moment (6.49 Debye). This study presents a novel class of fuberidazole derivatives with selectivity toward hypoxic cancer cells.

PurposeTo investigate the effect of the addition of a low concentration of sodium chloride (NaCl) and potassium chloride (KCl) solutions on the tear ferning (TF) patterns of tears collected from humans.MethodsA tear sample (20 μL) was collected from the right eye of 23 males and 7 females (25.4 ± 6.6 years). The tears were collected in one sitting for healthy subjects (N = 13). For dry eye participants (N = 17), the tear samples were collected in two separate settings with five minutes gap in between. A sample (1 μL) from each tear was dried on a glass slide, and the obtained ferns were observed using a microscope and graded using the five-point TF grading scale. Mixtures of tear samples (0.5 μL) and different volumes (0.5-2.5 μL) of each electrolyte (10-30 mg in 100 mL of water) solution were prepared, and their TF patterns were recorded and compared with those of the corresponding pure tears.ResultsSignificant improvements (Wilcoxon test, P < 0.001) have been seen in the TF grades of the tear samples after the addition of NaCl and KCl solutions. A significant difference (Wilcoxon test, P = 0.016) was found between the TF grades when NaCl and KCl solutions were added to the tear samples. The TF grades of pure tears collected from dry-eye subjects ranged from 2.1 to 3.5, based on the five points grading scale, and decreased to be in the range of 0.4 to 1.6 after the addition of electrolyte solutions. While the TF grades of pure tears collected from normal-eye ranged from 1.2 to 1.9 and improved after the addition of electrolyte solution to be in the range of 0.4 to 1.5.ConclusionsThe TF test was used in vitro to assess the impact of the addition of a low concentration of sodium and potassium chloride solutions on tears collected from humans. The TF grades of human tears significantly improved after the addition of either sodium or potassium chloride solution. The mechanism for the improvement in TF grades due to the addition of electrolyte solutions must be investigated.

Highlights The CuO/GO nanocomposite has been prepared using two selected precursors of copper nitrate and citric acid with an intermittent mixing of GO solutions. CuO nanoparticles decoration on GO sheets to coincide the enrichment of activity and stability from their cooperation. CuO/GO nanocomposite has appreciable activity towards pathogenic bacteria, free radicals, and cancer cell lines. The as-prepared nanocomposite is proposed as a novel nanomaterial for theranostic activities bearing both therapeutic attributes along with diagnostic nature in the biological domain and healthcare.

The structural alteration of carbon nitride (CN) for photocatalytic CO2 reduction is a promising research topic in the environmental and energy sectors. This work discusses the fabrication of photocatalyst through a heterojunction architecture obtained from the molecular engineering of electron-rich organic monomer 2,6-pyridinedicarboxylic acid (PDA) with CN precursor (CN/PDAx). The successful integration of PDA in the structure of CN served as a charge inducting entity to enhance charge separation and photocatalytic CO2 reduction under visible light (λ = 420 nm). The DFT results indicated that the upshift in the HOMO level of CN after integration of PDA in its framework was the most lawful for the charge separation and for obtaining a high reduction potential. As-synthesized photocatalysts were demonstrated for various integral analysises and after evaluating the process of photocatalytic CO2 reduction under visible light region (λ = 420 nm). The optimized sample CN/PDA10 has the most excellent photocatalytic activity producing 85.4 μmol/h of CO and 21.3 μmol/h of H2, achieving a 7.5-fold enhanced catalytic efficiency as compared to pure CN. We hope that this work will attract more attention to synthesizing efficient photocatalysts for energy production and environmental remediation.

Semiconductor-based photocatalytic technology is regarded as an efficient pathway for resolving the energy scarcity across the globe. In this regard, graphitic carbon nitride (g-C3N4)-based materials could be alternatively employed in photochemical applications such as photovoltaic energy generation via CO2 photoreduction and water splitting, along with natural resource purification via organic/inorganic pollutant degradation. Indeed, this kind of assertion has been made by considering the intrinsic physicochemical properties of g-C3N4 nanomaterials, owing to their increased surface area, quantum yield, surface charge isolation, distribution, and ease of modification through material configuration or incorporation of preferred interfacial capabilities. This review article has been designed to provide the most up-to-date information regarding the further assessment of the important advancements in fabrication along with photochemical applications of various g-C3N4 nanomaterials, while specifically focusing on the scientific reason behind its success in each assessment. The discovery of interventions to alleviate such restrictions and boost photocatalytic performance has gained substantial interest. Following photo-excitation fundamentals, this work explains two distinct photoexcitation mechanisms, the carrier and charge transfer techniques, wherein the significant exciting state impact of g-C3N4 has still not been widely focused on in past studies. In this regards, we cautiously introduce the updated advances and associated functions of the alteration techniques, including morphological features, elemental dopants, deficiency engineering, and heterojunction implemented in photocatalytic performance, which are equated from the carrier and charge transport perceptions. The future perspectives in designing and properly tuning the highly active hierarchical or copolymer g-C3N4 nanoparticles in a photocatalytic system, which may improve the renewable energy cultivation and reduction efficiency are critically deciphered in detail and outlined thoroughly.

The structure of the title compound (I) (C17H19NO2)2 the Schiff base, {3-Methoxy-6-[(2,4,6-trimethyl-phenylamino)-methyl]-phenol} was characterized by 1H, 13C NMR, UV–VIS and IR spectroscopic techniques. The crystal structure was determined by X-ray analysis. The compound (I) was crystallized in the Monoclinic space group P21/c, with a = 25.9845 (12), b = 7.3318 (4), c = 16.3543 (8) Å, β = 100.713(°) (4), and Z = 8. The intermolecular interactions of the compound (I) was analyzed using Hirshfeld surface and Fingerprint analysis. Based on the crystal-void calculation, the volume of the void and surface area of the Schiff base compound (I) was described. The frontier molecular orbital energy gap reveals charge transfer interactions involving donors and acceptors. The invitro studies on antibacterial property of the title compound shows best MIC value for Staphylococcus aureus and the compound effect on MTT assay on A549 lung cancer cell line. The molecular docking result shows that the compound has good molecular-level interaction with anticancer drug target having good interactions with active site residues. The non-covalent interactions in the protein-ligand complex were well established from NCI analysis.

This study applies the hyperstructure theory to BF-algebra, which is an algebraic structure. In fact, we define hyper-BF-algebras and hyper-BF ideals and investigate several of their related characteristics. BF-algebra and hyper-BF ideal characteristics are taken into account, and supported examples are built. Here, we also develop new concepts known as hyper-B-algebra, hyper-BG-algebra, and hyper-BH algebra as generalizations of other classes of hyper-BCK-/BCI-algebras. Additionally, we demonstrate that each hyper-BF is a weak hyper-BF in hyper-BF-algebra, but the opposite is not true. It is further established that the intersection of the weak hyper-BF ideal family is weak.

Background: Estimated seroprevalence of Coronavirus Infectious Disease 2019 (COVID-19), caused by the Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome-Coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2) is a critical evidence for a better evaluation of the virus spread and monitoring the progress of COVID-19 pandemic in a population. In the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA), SARS-CoV-2 seroprevalence has been reported in specific regions, but an extensive nationwide study has not been reported. Here, we report a nationwide study to determine the prevalence of SARS-CoV-2 in the population of KSA during the pandemic, using serum samples from healthy blood donors, non-COVID patients and healthcare workers (HCWs) in six different regions of the kingdom, with addition samples from COVID-19 patients. Methods: A total of 11,703 serum samples were collected from different regions of the KSA including; 5395 samples from residual healthy blood donors (D); 5877 samples from non-COVID patients collected through residual sera at clinical biochemistry labs from non-COVID patients (P); and 400 samples from consented HCWs. To determine the seroprevalence of SARS-CoV-2, all serum samples, in addition to positive control sera from RT-PCR confirmed COVID-19 patients, were subjected to in-house ELISA with a sample pooling strategy, which was further validated by testing individual samples that make up some of the pools, with a statistical estimation method to report seroprevalence estimates. Results: Overall (combining D and P groups) seroprevalence estimate was around 11% in Saudi Arabia; and was 5.1% (Riyadh), 1.5% (Jazan), 18.4% (Qassim), 20.8% (Hail), 14.7% (ER; Alahsa), and 18.8% in Makkah. Makkah samples were only D group and had a rate of 24.4% and 12.8% in the cities of Makkah and Jeddah, respectively. The seroprevalence in Saudi Arabia across the sampled areas would be 12 times the reported COVID-19 infection rate. Among HCWs, 7.5% (4.95–10.16 CI 95%) had reactive antibodies to SARS-CoV-2 without reporting any previously confirmed infection. This was higher in HCWs with hypertension. The study also presents the demographics and prevalence of co-morbidities in HCWs and subset of non-COVID-19 population. Interpretation: Our study estimates the overall national serological prevalence of COVID-19 in Saudi Arabia to be 11%, with an apparent disparity between regions. This indicates the prevalence of asymptomatic or mild unreported COVID-19 cases.

Possible polymorphic forms of the chemotherapy drug, temozolomide were predicted from the ab initio and DFT methods. The lattice minimization via distributed multipole analysis was carried out for the hypothetical generated structures. A crystal with unit cell parameters close to the real one and of same space group was retrieved, with partly similar packing and interactions. The analysis of inter molecular interaction (through Hirshfeld surface) and electrostatic potential reveals the complementary sites in the molecule. The 26 predicted structures were analyzed with respect to two computed lattice energies and hydrogen-bond propensity. The lattice energy of the real crystal [EXP] packing ranked number 6 compared on the basis of DMACRYS software and number 3 on the basis of the total lattice energy issued from the Crystalexplorer17 software at the B3LYP/6-31G∗∗ level of theory. The molecule has two strong hydrogen bond donors and five strong acceptors. The predicted packings are stabilized by one or two strong N–H…O/N–H…N as well as weak C–H…O/C–H…N and H…π hydrogen bonds. While the real structure with Z’ = 1, EXP, forms only one strong H-bond (N–H…O=C), several of the predicted packings form two strong H-bonds. Two predicted crystal packings have unit cell parameters close to the real structure, one of them shares several common intermolecular interactions.

This study presents a thin triple-band cross-polarization-conversion metasurface (CPCM) comprising square split-ring resonators (SSRR), metallic cross elements where four metal strips are housed inside the SSRR. The SSRR resonator and back-layer are designed with copper on FR-4 substrate, where substrate sandwiches the resonator and the back-layer. The SSRR and metallic cross elements are developed on a dielectric substrate and the backside block by a copper layer. CST MWS 2018 is used to design and perform analysis of the metasurface. The electrical dimension of the CPCM structure is 0.128 λ × 0.128 λ × 0.044 λ at a lower frequency of 5.49 GHz. The CPCM achieved a bandwidth of 5.35 to 5.69 GHz, 7.60 to 8.76 GHz, and 12.41 to 13.96 GHz covering the S, C, and X frequencies band. Moreover, the simulated result of the CPCM is verified through experimental development. An electrically thin substrate makes the proposed structure identical in polarization responses (up to 750) at normal and oblique incidents above the mentioned frequency band. The surface current distribution is analyzed to comprehend the structural mechanism behind the polarization conversion of the unit cell.

A new triol-based compound, teucriol (1) and eleven others (2–12), were first time isolated from the ethanol extract of Teucrium stocksianum Bioss using bioassay guidelines, and their structures were established using various spectroscopic techniques. Antibacterial, antifungal, insecticidal, cytotoxic, phytotoxic, and antioxidant properties of ethanol extract fractions and a novel isolate were tested. When compared to the standard ceftriaxone, the extract, fractions, and novel isolate demonstrated good antibacterial potential against Streptococcus pneumonia, Staphylococcus aureus, Klebsiella pneumonia and Escherichia coli bacteria, while all were inert against Fusarium solani, Candida albicans, Candida glabrata, Microsporum Canis and Aspergillus flavus fungi, and Tribolium castaneum and Rhyzopertha dominica insects. All fractions showed promising antioxidant activity. Density functional theory was used to optimize the ground state geometry of teucriol (1) at the B3LYP/TZ2P level. The global molecular descriptors, electronic characteristics, molecular electrostatic potential, and Hirshfeld surface analyses were studied to investigate the biological activity of the investigated molecule.

The phytochemicals can play complementary medicine compared to synthetic drugs considering their natural origin, safety, and low cost. Phytochemicals hold a key position for the expansion of drug development against corona viruses and need better consideration to the agents that have already been shown to display effective activity against various strains of corona viruses. In this study, we performed molecular docking studies on potential forty seven phytochemicals which are SARS-CoV-1 Mpro inhibitors to identify potential candidate against the main proteins of SARS-CoV-2. In Silico Molecular docking studies revealed that phytochemicals 16 (Broussoflavan A), 22 (Dieckol), 31 (Hygromycin B), 45 (Sinigrin) and 46 (Theaflavin-3,3′-digallate) exhibited excellent SARS-CoV-2 Mpro inhibitors. Furthermore, supported by Molecular dynamics (MD) simulation analysis such as Root Mean Square Deviation (RMSD), Root Mean Square Fluctuation (RMSF), Radius of gyration (Rg) and H-bond interaction analysis. We expect that our findings will provide designing principles for new corona virus strains and establish important frameworks for the future development of antiviral drugs.

Cyclosporine (CsA) is considered one of the main components of treatment protocols for organ transplantation owing to its immunosuppressive effect. However, its use is very restricted due to its nephrotoxic effect. ZW is an alkaline fluid rich in various trace elements and has a great ability to stimulate antioxidant processes. This study aimed to investigate the possible mitigating effect of ZW on CsA-induced nephrotoxicity and its underlying mechanisms. Forty rats were allocated into four groups (n = 10): a control group, ZW group, cyclosporine A group (injected subcutaneously (SC) with CsA (20 mg/kg/day)), and cyclosporine A+ Zamzam water group (administered CsA (SC) and ZW as their only drinking water (100 mL/cage/day) for 21 days). Exposure to CsA significantly (p < 0.001) increased the serum creatinine level, lipid peroxidation marker level (malondialdehyde; MDA), and the expression of apoptotic markers procaspase-8, caspase-8, caspase- 9, calpain, cytochrome c, caspas-3, P62, and mTOR in renal tissues. Meanwhile, it markedly decreased (p< 0.001) the autophagic markers (AMPK, ULK-I, ATag5, LC3, and Beclin-1), antiapoptotic Bcl-2, and antioxidant enzymes. Moreover, the administration of CsA caused histological alterations in renal tissues. ZW significantly (p < 0.001) reversed all the changes caused by CsA and conclusively achieved a positive outcome in restraining CsA-induced nephrotoxicity, as indicated by the restoration of the histological architecture, improvement of renal function, inhibition of apoptosis, and enhancement of autophagy via the AMPK/mTOR pathway.
