The outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic has had a significant impact on education. The closure of schools and the cessation of face-to-face classrooms have affected schools and students worldwide. The current need is to transform the traditional classroom to adapt to the new social and educational background. The flipped classroom is usually defined as a strategy to subvert the conventional academic environment; that is, the information transmission part of the traditional face-to-face lecture is removed from the classroom time for online self-learning. The flipped classroom is a highly flexible classroom mode, which has brought significant changes to education. Therefore, this study aims to examine the studies' research trends, advantages, and challenges concerning the flipped classroom for EFL courses during the COVID-19 epidemic. For this purpose, databases including the web of Science (WOS) and Scopus were reviewed, and 15 articles were analyzed. A systematic review was used as the research methodology. The study's findings revealed the effectiveness of flipped classrooms for EFL courses during the pandemic. Based on the review, this paper puts forward suggestions for future research and points out the future development direction.

The ability to listen attentively is of utmost importance for individuals who are learning a language, as it serves as the bedrock for effective communication and mastery of the language. Nonetheless, conventional methods employed in teaching listening tend to concentrate on passive listening exercises, resulting in limited engagement and insufficient development of this skill. To overcome these constraints, the integration of information and communication technology (ICT) tools alongside learner-centric teaching strategies has proven to be highly beneficial. This review will look at the current level of research and innovations in the use of ICT and learnercentered teaching techniques to improve EFL teachers' listening instruction from 2012 to 2023. On March 15th, 2023, 232 papers were collected from the Scopus database and a bibliometric analysis was performed to examine the publishing trend and geographic distribution, the contribution and collaboration of various nations, the most influential authors and publications, the most frequently used author keywords, and under-explored issues. From 2012 to 2023, the data revealed a rising trend in overall publication production, with 51 countries contributing to the research on EFL instructors' use of ICT and learner-centered teaching practices to improve listening instruction. The United States, Australia, and Iran were the top three contributors among these countries. The most commonly used author keywords were EFL, ICT, learner-centered teaching strategies, listening instruction, and teaching methods, indicating that these were the major themes of study in this area over the preceding decade. Teacher cognition, the system of teachers' mental lives, has a great impact on teachers' instructional practices and professional development. However, a comprehensive exploration into the overall scholarship in the teacher cognition field through a bibliometric lens is lacking. By using VOSviewer1.6.16, this bibliometric analysis aims to profile the research landscape on teacher cognition by identifying the development trajectory, country contributions and collaborations, the most productive authors and journals, and the research foci based on 440 documents retrieved from the Scopus database (1993-2022). The findings indicate progressive growth in the publication trend on teacher cognition, especially in the last decade. The publications are mainly geographically distributed in the United States, China, and the United Kingdom. The United States leads others in terms of contribution and collaboration. Borg S., Feryok A., and Johnson K.E. emerged as the most productive authors, and System, Language Teaching Research and Teaching and Teacher Education the most prolific journals. The topical foci identified are (1) language teachers' cognition from a sociocultural perspective, (2) teacher professional development, (3) teacher education and English as a Foreign Language (EFL) teachers' cognition, (4) novice ESL teachers' cognition, (5) teacher beliefs and teaching practices. It is concluded that teacher cognition, especially language teacher cognition has grown into a well-established and cross-perspective field of study and it will conceivably remain a promising subject. STEM fields are viewed as being important for global economic development, as well as for the well-being of society. Many factors, including knowledge of future pay and other occupational insights, influence university major selection. This paper reports the findings from an empirical study of diploma, undergraduate, and postgraduate on the relationship between gender equality and university support with students' views on STEM careers, as well as their persistence and attrition in STEM majors. The findings from PLS-SEM analysis shows that gender equality did positively affect students' views on STEM careers and students' persistence in STEM majors. It was also found that gender equality did not affect students' attrition. In contrast, the university support did not positively affect students' views on STEM careers and students' attrition in STEM majors. However, university support was found to positively affect students' persistence in STEM majors. The implications of the findings are that the university can channel its support systems in nurturing the students' skills and knowledge by providing physical and psychosocial support for the students to persist in STEM majors. Hence, encouraging more students to opt for STEM majors is necessary to enhance the global economy so that it can contribute to the well-being not just of the STEM graduates, but the society and nation as well. Due to the COVID-19 global pandemic crisis, the flipped classroom mode was introduced in education, and students are required to use other self-regulated learning skills in their learning process in flipped classrooms. Therefore, this review study aims to provide a bibliometric mapping analysis of research on self-regulated learning in flipped classrooms in the Scopus database. The study selection process resulted in the selection of 107 studies to be analyzed. It used the VOS viewer program and excel for the bibliometric analysis to determine the publication trajectory, country contributions, most influential authors, journals, articles, corresponding research methodology, topical foci, and underexplored research areas in the studies. As a result of the study, there has been an increasing trend in overall publication production from 2015 to 2020, reaching its peak in 2020 during the pandemic, with 29 articles being published. There has been a significant contribution to the publication of studies by China and the United States. Apart from that, Computers and Education was the most influential journal, and Hwang was identified as the most-cited author in this research field. Research foci and underexplored themes were confirmed by co-occurrence analysis. Researchers in this domain may benefit from the findings presented here, which offer a holistic understanding of the current state of the research in this area and contribute to the burgeoning body of literature, as well as orient new entrants to identify the research priorities that will guide future studies in the field of self-regulated learning in flipped classrooms. Guided by the ADDIE Instructional Design model, a 7-week online module was designed to enhance the grammatical intonation competency of foundation students at the University of Technology and Applied Sciences (Oman). The module was conducted with 35 level four foundation students, after which the researchers developed a questionnaire to investigate the sample students' perception of the effectiveness of the grammatical intonation module. This paper assessed the validation of the questionnaire using the experts' validity and the Rasch Model analysis of construct validity and reliability. The questionnaire investigates Omani EFL students' perceptions of a grammatical intonation module designed and applied to enhance their grammatical intonation competency. The sample of this study comprised 30 Omani EFL male and female non-major college students studying at the foundation program/the English language center/the University of Technology and Applied Sciences/Nizwa college. The experts validated the contents of the questionnaire. At the same time, the Rasch Model produced construct validity and reliability measurements using the dimensionality, item fit, and item polarity parameters and the person and item separation analysis. The study's findings indicated that the questionnaire is valid and reliable for measuring Omani EFL college students' perceptions of a grammatical intonation module. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Introduction: There is a significant increase in the number of divorce cases among Malay Muslim couples over the past years which serves as a strong signal for the government to take initiatives to understand the current situation. A plethora of literature can be found on marriage satisfaction and the quality of the relationship within marriages. However, exploration on contributing factors to long lasting marriages amongst the Malay Muslim community are lacking. This paper aims to share the initial findings in an effort to explore of the strength of relationship in a lasting marriage amongst Malay Muslim couples in Malaysia. Methods: This paper adopted a quantitative approach utilizing the Eternal Love Instrument (c) 2016 which consisted of 171 items, distributed to 350 respondents based on simple random sampling technique. Results: The findings indicated that there are three main considerations in selecting a spouse which were (1) Religion (95.2%); (2) Character (responsible) (96.1%); well mannered (95.8%); and (3) Race (79.3%). Age, looks and type of jobs were the least considered factors amongst the respondents surveyed. The respondents perceived that the strongest element in their relationship was communication (69.6%), followed by tolerance (62.6%) and responsible towards family wellbeing (56.4%). Conclusion: The initial survey has indicated that a lasting marriage is a consequence of having a responsible partner with good religious background.
