This study presents a 2×2 multiband MIMO antenna array design with a partial ground plane for 5G applications. The design consists of two identical L-shaped wings patch antennae arranged orthogonally. The proposed design achieved a frequency band from 12 to 41GHz and maximum bandwidth of 2GHz. In terms of performance, the proposed design demonstrated a total gain of 8dB with a return loss of -10dB which is lower across all bands. Similarly, the 2b2 MIMO antenna array design has an Envelope Correlation Coefficient of 0.3 and a Total Active Reflection Coefficient of 1. This elucidated good isolation between the two elements.
