Abstract The objective was to investigate the effect of co-administration of hydrochlorothiazide and lisinopril as fixed dose combination on their intestinal absorption. The scope was extended to enhance intestinal absorption of both drugs. In situ rabbit intestinal absorption through the duodenum and jejuno-ileum was used to monitor membrane permeability of both drugs when perfused alone or in combination. Niosomes containing glycerols (glyceroniosomes) were loaded with both drugs. Glyceroniosomes comprised Span 60 or Tween 40 in combination with cholesterol and glycerol were prepared by bath sonication. Glyceroniosomes were characterized with respect to vesicle size, drug entrapment efficiency and were examined using transmission electron microscope (TEM). The prepared vesicles were nanosized spherical vesicles with average size of 202.4 nm and 108.8 nm for span free and span containing glyceroniosomes, respectively. The recorded Zeta potential values suggested good stability of the prepared formulations. Intestinal absorption studies reflected incomplete absorption of hydrocholothiazide and lisinopril correlating with their categorization as class IV and III drugs, respectively. Co-perfusion of both drugs reduced the intestinal absorption of lisinopril. Simultaneous encapsulation in glyceroniosomes enhanced the intestinal absorption of both drugs. Tween based systems were more efficient. The study introduced glyceroniosomes as carriers of simultaneous delivery of hydrochlorothiazide and lisinopril.

Abstract This study aimed to overcome the poor solubility of pterostilbene (PTS) by developing promising reconstituted proethoniosomes (PENs). The reconstituted PENs loaded with PTS were fabricated according to a 23 factorial design by Design-Expert® software. The prepared ethoniosomes were assessed for entrapment efficiency (EE %) and % PTS released after 24 h (Q24h). According to the desirability criteria, the ethoniosomal formula (F4) was chosen as the optimized formulation with EE% of 93.19 ± 0.66 and Q24h of 75.10 ± 1.90%. The optimum ethoniosomal formulation was further coated with folic acid (FA) using bovine serum albumin (BSA) as a carrier and stabilizing agent and further evaluated for transmission electron microscopy (TEM), particle size, zeta potential, elasticity, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), and stability. The targeted ethoniosomal formula appeared as spherical nanovesicles with a size of 144.05 ± 1.77 nm size and a zeta potential of -38.6 mV. The elasticity of the targeted ethoniosomal formula 19.27 ± 1.2 was higher than that of the corresponding niosome 1.48 ± 0.02. The targeted ethoniosomal formula showed high stability for three months. Fluorescence microscopy demonstrated an accumulation of FA-BSA-ethoniosomes in the cytoplasm of A549 cell lines. The observed therapeutic activity of the targeted ethoniosomal formula on lung cancer was explored by in vitro cytotoxicity on A549 lung cancer cells and in vivo animal models. The in vivo results were supported by histopathological analysis and immunohistochemical caspase-3 staining. FA-BSA-ethoniosomal formulation allowed specific targeting of cancer tissues overexpressing folate receptors. Overall, these results confirmed that the targeted ethoniosomal formula could be a promising nano-carrier for potential application as targeted cancer chemotherapy in clinical studies. In this paper, we improved a mathematical model of monkeypox disease with a time delay to a crossover model by incorporating variable-order and fractional differential equations, along with stochastic fractional derivatives, in three different time intervals. The stability and positivity of the solutions for the proposed model are discussed. Two numerical methods are constructed to study the behavior of the proposed models. These methods are the nonstandard modified Euler Maruyama technique and the nonstandard Caputo proportional constant Adams-Bashfourth fifth step method. Many numerical experiments were conducted to verify the efficiency of the methods and support the theoretical results. This study’s originality is the use of fresh data simulation techniques and different solution methodologies.

In this paper, we study some of new types of continuous functions called soft b*−continuous functions and define soft b*−irresolute and discussed their relations with existing soft continuous and other weaker forms of soft continuous functions and some related properties are discussed. Also, we study soft b*−irresolute and soft b*−openmap and b*−closedmap and the relationships between them are discuss. We hope that the findings in this work will help researcher enhance and promote the further study on soft topological spaces to carry out a general framework for their applications in separation axioms, connectedness.

Transdermal delivery of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) is an effective route of drug administration, as it directs the drug to the inflamed site with reduced incidence of systemic adverse effects such as gastric hemorrhage and ulcers. Tenoxicam (TNX) is a member of NSAIDs that are marketed only as oral tablets due to very poor absorption through the skin. The current study intended to formulate and characterize a hydrogel loaded with nanostructured lipid carriers (NLCs) to enhance the transdermal delivery of TNX. Six formulations of TNX were formulated by slight modifications of high shear homogenization and ultrasonication method. The selected formula was characterized for their particle size, polydispersity index (PDI), zeta potential, entrapment efficiency (EE), in-vitro drug release and ex-vivo skin permeation studies. Moreover, the effectiveness of the developed formula was studied in-vivo using carrageenan-induced paw edema and hyperalgesia model in irradiated rats. Formula F4 was chosen from six formulations, as the average diameter was 679.4 ± 51.3 nm, PDI value of about 0.02, zeta potential of −4.24 mV, EE of 92.36%, globules nanoparticles without aggregations and absence of interactions in the developed formula. Additionally, the in-vivo study showed the efficacy of formula F4 (TNX-NLCs hydrogel) equivalent to oral TNX in reducing the exaggerated inflammatory response induced by carrageenan after irradiation. In conclusion, the present findings suggest that TNX-NLCs hydrogel could be a potential transdermal drug delivery system alternative to the oral formulation for the treatment of various inflammatory conditions.

The study was conducted to evaluate the potential application of nanocapsules and nanospheres as topical drug delivery systems for indomethacin (as model drug). Both were prepared by nanoprecipitation using poly (ɛ-caprolactone) and hydroxypropyl β-cyclodextrin polymers and evaluated for morphology, particle size, zeta potential, EE% and in vitro drug release then incorporated in methylcellulose and Carbopol 940 gel bases and evaluated for in vitro release. The selected formulations and market product were evaluated for ex vivo human skin permeation and anti-inflammatory and analgesic activities by paw edema and hot plate methods respectively. Results showed that nanocapsules had slight higher EE% and larger particle sizes than nanospheres. In vitro release and zeta potential were nearly similar. Methylcellulose exhibited higher in vitro release than Carbopol 940 after 3 h (except NS2). Ex vivo skin permeation studies showed significant higher cumulative amount of IND (and flux) from NC1/MC and NS1/MC (1573.06 ± 14.23 µg/cm2 and 1452.24 ± 23.18 µg/cm2 respectively) than market product. They also showed enhancement ratio and permeability coefficient rate of ∼1.5 and ∼2 respectively. NC1/MC proved to be significantly higher pharmacodynamic effects than market product. All results showed that NC1/MC could provide a promising formula as a topical delivery of indomethacin.

Curcumin is a natural compound that has many medical applications. However, its low solubility and poor stability could impede its clinical applications. The present study aimed to formulate dry proniosomes to overcome these pitfalls and improve the therapeutic efficacy of Curcumin. Curcumin-loaded proniosomes were fabricated by the slurry method according to 32 factorial design using Design-Expert software to demonstrate the impact of different independent variables on entrapment efficiency (EE%) and % drug released after 12 h (Q12h). The optimized formula (F5) was selected according to the desirability criteria. F5 exhibited good flowability and appeared, after reconstitution, as spherical nanovesicles with EE% of 89.94 ± 2.31% and Q12h of 70.89 ± 1.62%. F5 demonstrated higher stability and a significant enhancement of Q12h than the corresponding niosomes. The docking study investigated the ability of Curcumin to bind effectively with the active site of DNA polymerase of Herpes simplex virus (HSV). The antiviral activity and the safety of F5 were significantly higher than Curcumin. F5 improved the safety of Acyclovir (ACV) and reduced its effective dose that produced a 100% reduction of viral plaques. Proniosomes could be promising stable carriers of Curcumin to be used as a safe and efficient antiviral agent.

Candesartan Cilexetil (CC) is a prodrug widely used in the treatment of hypertension and heart failure, but it has some limitations, such as very poor aqueous solubility, high affinity to P-glycoprotein efflux mechanism, and hepatic first-pass metabolism. Therefore, it has very low oral bioavailability. In this study, glyceryl monostearate (GMS) and Capryol™ 90 were selected as solid and liquid lipids, respectively, to develop CC-NLC (nanostructured lipid carrier). CC was successfully encapsulated into NLP (CC-NLC) to enhance its oral bioavailability. CC-NLC was formulated using a hot homogenization-ultrasonication technique, and the physicochemical properties were characterized. The developed CC-NLC formulation was showed in nanometric size (121.6 ± 6.2 nm) with high encapsulation efficiency (96.23 ± 3.14%). Furthermore, it appeared almost spherical in morphology under a transmission electron microscope. The surgical experiment of the designed CC-NLC for absorption from the gastrointestinal tract revealed that CC-NLC absorption in the stomach was only 15.26% of that in the intestine. Otherwise, cellular uptake study exhibit that CC-NLCs should be internalized through the enterocytes after that transported through the systemic circulation. The pharmacokinetic results indicated that the oral bioavailability of CC was remarkably improved above 2-fold after encapsulation into nanostructured lipid carriers. These results ensured that nanostructured lipid carriers have a highly beneficial effect on improving the oral bioavailability of poorly water-soluble drugs, such as CC.

Acetazolamide (ACZ) is a potent carbonic anhydrase inhibitor that is used for the treatment of glaucoma. Its oral administration causes various undesirable side effects. This study aimed to formulate transgelosomes (TGS) for enhancing the ocular delivery of ACZ. ACZ-loaded transfersomes were formulated by the ethanol injection method, using phosphatidylcholine (PC) and different edge activators, including Tween 80, Span 60, and Cremophor RH 40. The effects of the ratio of lipid to surfactant and type of surfactant on % drug released after 8 h (Q8h) and entrapment efficiency (EE%) were investigated by using Design-Expert software. The optimized formula was formulated as TGS, using poloxamers as gelling agents. In vitro and in vivo characterization of ACZ-loaded TGS was performed. According to optimization study, F8 had the highest desirability value and was chosen as the optimized formula for preparing TGS. F8 appeared as spherical elastic nanovesicles with Q8h of 93.01 ± 3.76% and EE% of 84.44 ± 2.82. Compared to a free drug, TGS exhibited more prolonged drug release of 71.28 ± 0.46% after 8 h, higher ex vivo permeation of 66.82 ± 1.11% after 8 h and a significant lowering of intraocular pressure (IOP) for 24 h. Therefore, TGS provided a promising technique for improving the corneal delivery of ACZ.

Objective: Tilmicosin (TIL) is a long-acting macrolide antibiotic used to treat cattle for pathogens that cause bovine respiratory disease. However, overdoses of this medication have been reported to induce cardiac damage. Our experimental objective was to evaluate the protective effects of Spirulina platensis (SP) administration against TIL-induced cardiotoxicity in mice. Materials and Methods: Our experimental in vivo animal study used 40 male albino mice that were divided into five groups of eight mice per group. The first group served as a control group and was injected with saline. The second group received SP at dose of 1000 mg/kg body weight for five days. The third group received a single dose of TIL (75 mg/kg, subcutaneously). Groups 4 and 5 were given SP at doses of 500 and 1000 mg/kg body weight for five consecutive days just before administration of TIL at the same dose and regimen used for group 3. Results: TIL treated animals showed a significant increase in serum cardiac injury biomarkers as well as cardiac lipid peroxidation, however they had evidence of an inhibition in antioxidant biomarkers. SP normalized elevated serum levels of lactate dehydrogenase (LDH), creatine kinase (CK), and CK-MB. Furthermore, SP reduced TIL-induced lipid peroxidation and oxidative stress in a dose-dependent manner. Conclusion: Administration of SP minimized the toxic effects of TIL by its free radicalscavenging and potent antioxidant activity.

Objective: To assess the effect of fasting in Ramadan on amniotic fluid index (AFI). Design: A cross sectional observational study. Methods: This study was conducted between July 21, 2012 and August 17, 2012, which corresponded to the 3rd and 27th days of the month of Ramadan 1433 and from July 12, 2013 and August 6, 2013, which corresponded to the 3rd and 27th days of the month of Ramadan 1434. Pregnant women attending the antenatal care clinic at Assiut and Qena University Hospitals were included in this study. The study groups included fasting and non fasting women beyond 36 weeks of gestation. The study took place at the same time of day (i.e., between 9 and 12 AM). Results: A total of 221 pregnant women were studied, 97 fasting and 124 non fasting. As regards age, parity and the gestational age no significant differences were reported. The AFI was less affected by fasting, also there was a significant difference in the AFI between fasting and non fasting pregnant women with oligohydramnios (4.00 ± 0.82 and 2.64 ± 1.12 respectively). A positive relationship with gravidity was observed as AFI increased with the increase of gravidity in pregnant fasting women, on the other hand there was variable non significant relation between AFI and gravidity in pregnant non fasting women. Conclusion: We conclude that the fasting in Ramadan has no effect on or may improve the AFI in the last month, while gravidity plays a role in the AFI in fasting group.

Introduction: To determine seroprevalence and risks factors for T. gondii in women with early miscarriage, Sera of 76 women were analyzed infection by indirect enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Seropositive cases were further examined histopathologically for evidence of Toxoplasma gondii organisms. Material and Methods: Demographic data were obtained from participants to gather information on risk factors. Result and Discussion: Of 76 women with spontaneous abortion screened for Toxoplasma-specific IgG and IgM antibodies with ELisa, 35 were IgG seropositive, of which, 14 samples were IgM seropositive. Therefore, seropositivity rates of 46.1% (95% CI: 35.1%, 57.3%), and 18.4% (95% CI: 10.89%, 28.32%) for IgG and IgM, respectively were found. These indicate that, 27.6 % (21 cases) of studied women (IgG+/IgM-) were immune to toxoplasmosis and 53.94 %(41 cases) were susceptible to primary infection (IgG-/IgM-). Mean while acute toxoplasmosis (IgG+/ IgM+) was 18.4 %( 14 cases) with one case (1.3%) confirmed for recent infection as she had Tachyzoites on histopathology study. On the basis of multivariate logistic regression, living in a rural area was found to be the only independent predictor of toxoplasmosis (OR=3.800, CI= 1.100-10.813, p=0.034). Conclusion: The seroprevalence of T. gondii infection in women with first trimester abortion in Qena governorate of Egypt is high. Pregnant women living in rural area are at a higher risk for acquiring infection during pregnancy. Antenatal screening of pregnant women and educational program about risks for Toxoplasmosis in rural areas is needed.

In this research article, we present a new class of soft compact spaces and soft Lindelöf spaces, we identify the idea of soft strongly b*--compact and soft strongly b*--Lindelöf spaces and we supply multiple interesting examples. As well as we mention that the inaugurated spaces are conserved under soft strongly b*--irresolute mappings and we look into definite of results which connect an extensive soft topology with the showing soft spaces. In this paper, we study some new types of soft separation axioms called soft strongly b separation axioms. We show that, the properties of soft strongly b-Ti space (i=0, 1,2) are soft topological properties under the bijection, soft irresolute and soft continuous mapping. Furthermore, the property of being soft strongly bregular and soft strongly b normal are soft topological properties under bijection, soft continuous functions. Abstract The phytochemical, nutritional, and biological features of wild carob pulp from Tanzight (TN), Ait-Waada (AW), and Tizi-ghnayn (TG) in Azilal were studied. The results of the study reveal that the carob pulp examined has a low-fat level. AW had the most total sugar (78.34 ± 3.00%), total reducing sugar (27.20 ± 2.89%), crude fiber (14.21 ± 1.23%), sucrose (24.303 ± 0.038%), sodium (153.7 ± 18.52 mg/kg), pH (5.599 ± 0.05), and total polyphenol content (4134.50 ± 17.91 mg GAE/100 g DW). TG has higher amounts of potassium (11373 ± 153.7 mg/kg), calcium (4345 ± 7.211 mg/kg), phosphorus (3551 ± 175.1 mg/kg), magnesium (1347 ± 52.43 mg/kg), fructose (7.635 ± 0.012%), and total flavonoids (1678.08 ± 24.05 mg RE/100 g DW). TN has the highest levels of crude protein (5.607 ± 0.047%), moisture (9.33 ± 0.57%), ash (4.16 ± 0.02%), glucose (2.956 ± 0.047%), and total condensed tannins (529.61 ± 6.76 mg CE/100 g DW). The ethanol extract derived from AW exhibited noteworthy antioxidant activity, as evidenced by its total antioxidant capacity (TAC) of 1245.83 ± 26.33 µg ascorbic acid equivalent /mg extract and IC50 values of 18.45 ± 1.41 µg/mL, 124.98 ± 5.21 µg/mL, and 24.87 ± 1.30 µmol/mL for 2,2-Diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazil (DPPH), beta carotene (β-Carotene), and 2,2’-azino-bis (3-éthylbenzothiazoline-6-sulfonate) (ABTS), respectively. Furthermore, AW has demonstrated significant antibacterial activity against a variety of bacterial and fungal strains using disc diffusion and broth dilution techniques. The analysed samples also demonstrated encouraging anti-cancer effects on MDA-MB-231, MDA-MB-436, and MCF-7 cancer cell lines. The biological activities were confirmed through molecular docking analysis, identifying naringin and quercetin 3-O-β-glucoside as related compounds. Additionally, ADME analyses have revealed that all the synthetic compounds examined in this study demonstrate high intestinal absorption, meet Lipinski’s criteria, indicating their potential suitability for oral drug development. Based on these findings, wild carob pulp from Azilal province may contain bioactive compounds and nutrients.

Abstract Compelling concerns about antimicrobial resistance and the emergence of multidrug‐resistant pathogens call for novel strategies to address these challenges. Nanoparticles show promising antimicrobial activities; however, their actions are hindered primarily by the bacterial hydrophilic–hydrophobic barrier. To overcome this, we developed a method of electrochemically anchoring sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) coatings onto silver nanoparticles (AgNPs), resulting in improved antimicrobial potency. We then investigated the antimicrobial mechanisms and developed therapeutic applications. We demonstrated SDS‐coated AgNPs with anomalous dispersive properties capable of dispersing in both polar and nonpolar solvents and, further, detected significantly higher bacteriostatic and bactericidal effects compared to silver ions (Ag+). Cellular assays suggested multipotent disruptions targeting the bacterial membrane, evidenced by increasing lactate dehydrogenase, protein and sugar leakage, and consistent with results from the transcriptomic analysis. Notably, the amphiphilic characteristics of the AgNPs maintained robust antibacterial activities for a year at various temperatures, indicating long‐term efficacy as a potential disinfectant. In a murine model, the AgNPs showed considerable biocompatibility and could alleviate fatal Salmonella infections. Collectively, by gaining amphiphilic properties from SDS, we offer novel AgNPs against bacterial infections combined with long‐term and cost‐effective strategies.

Mycoplasmas are considered important avian pathogens, which cause a great economical loss in the poultry industry. As it is responsible for both respiratory disease and synovitis in poultry. The aim of this study was to isolate and identify Mycoplasma gallisepticum and Mycoplasma synoviae from chickens and determine the efficacy of different antibiotics. Additionally, detection of some substantial virulence genes. Two hundred chicken samples were collected and cultured onto specific PPLO medium. The isolates were characterized by polymerase chain reaction then tested for antibiotic sensitivity by the minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) method. The results reported that 15 samples (7.5%) were positive by culturing with prevalent of Mycoplasma synoviae and Mycoplasma gallisepticum with 12 (80%) and three (20%). Following the 16S rRNA- based detection of Mycoplasma isolates, 12 Mycoplasma synoviae and three Mycoplasma synoviae isolates were identified by different PCR-based detection methods for various virulence genes. Three Mycoplasma gallisepticum isolates contain the mgc2 gene, and nine Mycoplasma synoviae isolates were positive for the ISR (intergenic spacer region) gene. All isolates had lowest MIC values for Tylvasolin with a range of (0.062- 0.125μg/mL) followed by Lincomycin, Tiamulin, Tilmicosin and Tylosin with a range of (0.062-1 μg/mL). However, the Mycoplasma synoviae isolates displayed variance in MICs for Oxytetracycline with a range of 0.5 to 8 μg/mL, and Chlorotetracycline with a range of 2 to 8 μg/mL. Meanwhile, high MIC values for Enrofloxacin were detected in all isolates with MICs ranging from 8 to 32 μg/mL. Furthermore, the MIC method identified Tylvasolin, Lincomycin, Tiamulin, Tilmicosin and Tylosin as the antibiotics of choice for the treatment of MS infections. Abstract The Eastern Mausoleum of Qin State is a significant component of the Qin Dynasty's royal tombs, reflecting the social development level during the Warring States period (475 BC ~ 221 BC) in China. At the onset of our investigation, we mapped the site's boundaries utilizing Corona satellite imagery and employed the Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) and Normalized Difference Moisture Index (NDMI) to identify archaeological features. Additionally, this study is the first to propose the use of thermal infrared band data from the SDGSAT-1 satellite to explore thermal archaeological traces, demonstrating their viability for archaeological site analysis. Subsequently, electromagnetic (EM) prospection was utilized to validate the presence of an ancient burial chamber passage. Landscape monitoring and analysis of the No.1 Mausoleum were performed using Corona and Google Earth images, revealing the accuracy of the Geomancy Theory of Chinese mausoleums through dynamic remote sensing of surface changes. Furthermore, our employment of space-to-ground observational modalities and resultant Digital Elevation Models (DEM) have been used to provided new insights into the application of Remote Sensing (RS) and Geomancy in archaeology, thereby emphasizing the pivotal role of site selection in heritage preservation. This research underscores the promise of synergistic space-ground observations in both exploiting the archaeological riches of cultural heritage sites and ensuring the enduring conservation of these irreplaceable patrimonial assets.

Abstract Background The characterization of pathologically enlarged mediastinal lymph nodes is clinically essential for effective disease management and accurate prognosis. Malignancy (metastases and lymphoma) and granulomatous conditions (sarcoidosis and tuberculosis) are the most common causes. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is a good modality to characterize the mediastinal pathologically enlarged lymph nodes based on the excellent soft tissue contrast. It can save high-risk patients from radiation exposure and hazards of intervention such as general anesthesia and biopsy. Aim of the work To estimate the accuracy of different advanced MRI quantitative parameters in the differentiation between benign and malignant mediastinal lymphadenopathy. This would involve the lesion-to-cord signal intensity ratio (SIR) in the T2-WI and diffusion weighted image (DWI), the lesion-to-chest wall muscle SIR in T2-WI and DWI, and the mean apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) values. These values would be correlated with the prospective pathological data and the results of the positron emission tomography (PET-CT). Results Prospectively, the study was conducted during the period between June 2022 and September 2023 on 45 patients with indeterminate or suspicious mediastinal lymphadenopathy identified by CT. MRI examination, PET-CT, and biopsy were applied for all patients. The intra-class correlation coefficient ranged between 0.89 and 0.95. In this paper, the generalization of pre-topological spaces called bipretopological spaces (briefly, π-pre-topology) depending on two pre-topologies on an arbitrary universal set has been introduced. New kinds of separations axioms on π-pre-topological spaces are established and some of their properties are investigated. A comparison between four separation axioms on π-pre-topological spaces and pre-topological spaces with different sorts of counterexamples are presented. The topological property for some π-pre-separation axioms are satisfied and its relation with disubgraphs are discussed. A human heart will be studied through it is generated digraph. This study presents a novel approach to modeling breast cancer dynamics, one of the most significant health threats to women worldwide. Utilizing a piecewise mathematical framework, we incorporate both deterministic and stochastic elements of cancer progression. The model is divided into three distinct phases: (1) initial growth, characterized by a constant-order Caputo proportional operator (CPC), (2) intermediate growth, modeled by a variable-order CPC, and (3) advanced stages, capturing stochastic fluctuations in cancer cell populations using a stochastic operator. Theoretical analysis, employing fixed-point theory for the fractional-order phases and Ito calculus for the stochastic phase, establishes the existence and uniqueness of solutions. A robust numerical scheme, combining the nonstandard finite difference method for fractional models and the Euler-Maruyama method for the stochastic system, enables simulations of breast cancer progression under various scenarios. Critically, the model is validated against real breast cancer data from Saudi Arabia spanning 2004-2016. Numerical simulations accurately capture observed trends, demonstrating the model's predictive capabilities. Further, we investigate the impact of chemotherapy and its associated cardiotoxicity, illustrating different treatment response scenarios through graphical representations. This piecewise fractional-stochastic model offers a powerful tool for understanding and predicting breast cancer dynamics, potentially informing more effective treatment strategies.

Antibiotic resistance remains a critical challenge for public health. In this study, we investigate the antibacterial potential of Moroccan Allium sativum L. essential oil (EO) through both in vitro and in silico approaches. The EO was extracted using hydrodistillation, and its physicochemical properties were analyzed alongside its chemical composition via gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC/MS). We assessed antibacterial efficacy through disk diffusion assays targeting Escherichia coli (E. coli), methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), and Pseudomonas aeruginosa (P. aeruginosa), and determined the minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) and minimum bactericidal concentration (MBC) values. Finally, an in silico molecular docking analysis and ADMET (absorption, distribution, metabolism, excretion, and toxicity) prediction were performed. Our analysis identified 13 sulfur-based compounds within the EO, with diallyl disulfide (42.85 %), methylallyl disulfide (18.84 %), methylallyl trisulfide (15.38 %), and diallyl trisulfide (13.11 %) as major constituents. The EO demonstrated robust activity against MRSA, with an inhibition zone of 22 mm and an MIC of 0.75 mg/mL, whereas E. coli exhibited lower sensitivity, with an MIC of 1.51 mg/mL. Molecular docking analysis suggested that the primary sulfur compounds may effectively inhibit bacterial resistance-related enzymes. These findings highlight the potential of Allium sativum L. EO as a natural antibacterial agent, attributed largely to its sulfur compound content. This activity is likely linked with the EO's interaction with the complex structures of bacterial cell membranes, offering promise in combating resistant bacterial strains.

Abstract Along the western coastal plain of the Red Sea, the discovery of lithic tools proved that the occurrence of archaeological remains belonged to the Stone Age era. Unfortunately, until recently, most of the Stone Age site plans in the western Red Sea periphery have been unknown because of change in climate in addition to covering these sites with a large layer of sand. Recently, remote sensing (RS) data have proven to be effective at identifying buried archaeological sites using radar satellite imagery due to their ability to penetrate the land surface. This paper aims to identify and reconstruct several potential Stone Age sites using radar satellite images in the Tokar region, North-Eastern Sudan, on the western plain of the Red Sea. Radar (Sentinel-1 SAR GRD: C-band) data were processed utilizing the advantages of the Google Earth Engine platform and Snap software. The results of this research showed that some potential settlements belonging to the Stone Age era (expectedly dating back to the end of the Pleistocene and/or the initial phase of the Holocene) have subcircular shapes with some interior subcircles. These results shed new light on the potential construction technique, size, and function of the settlement in the Stone Age era and can provide some initial insights into the ancient lifestyle in this region. Additionally, this study can aid in future archaeological surveys and excavation missions in this region.

This paper centers on the preparation and characterization of both a clay support and a faujasite zeolite membrane. Additionally, the study explores the development of bacterial media to assess the performance of these prepared membranes. The faujasite zeolite membrane was created using the hydrothermal method, involving the deposition of a faujasite layer to fine-tune the pore sizes of the clay support. The clay supports were crafted from clay which was sieved to particle size Φ ≤ 63 μm, and compacted with 3.0 wt.% activated carbon, then sintered at 1,000 °C. Distilled water fluxes revealed a decrease from 1,500 L m−2 h−1 to a minimum of 412 L m−2 h−1 after 180 min of filtration. Both membranes were characterized by XRF, XRD, FTIR, adsorption–desorption of nitrogen (N2), and SEM-EDS. PCR technique was used for the identification of the isolated Arthrobacter sp., and the retention of the bacteria on the clay support and the faujasite zeolite membrane were found to be 96 and 99%, respectively. The results showed that the faujasite zeolite membrane passed the clay support due to a narrow pore size of the faujasite zeolite membrane of 2.28 nm compared to 3.55 nm for the clay supports. Abstract Bosentan is a drug used to treat pulmonary hypertension via dual endothelial receptor antagonism. Bosentan has a restricted oral bioavailability, a problem that's mostly due to poor solubility and hepatic metabolism. It is extensively used for the elderly and children who require a friendly dosage form like orodispersible tablets. So, the goal of this research work was to hasten the dissolution rate of bosentan to produce an orodispersible tablet with immediate drug release. Bosentan was exposed to ethanol-assisted kneading with a rise of xylitol or menthol concentrations (1:1 and 1:2 molar ratio of bosentan with excipient). In addition to observing the dissolution behavior, the resulting dry products were investigated using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), differential thermal analysis (DTA), and X-ray diffraction (XRD). The FTIR reflected possible hydrogen bonding with xylitol and menthol. DSC studies reflected a reduction in the enthalpy and Tm. These results with XRD data reflected partial co-amorphization in the case of xylitol and eutaxia in the case of menthol. These modifications were related to an accelerated dissolving rate. The developed systems were fabricated as orodispersible tablets which exhibited immediate release of bosentan. Thus, the current study offered simple co-processing for the preparation of orodispersible bosentan tablets.
