Abstract Aim Investigate the influence of organizational intelligence on the development of soft skills and the overall thriving of nurses at Alexandria Main University Hospital in Egypt. Design A cross-sectional descriptive design following STROBE guidelines examined the relationship between organizational intelligence, soft skills, and nurses’ thriving. Methods and tools Data were collected from 740 nurses working across critical care units using structured questionnaires. The questionnaires assessed organizational intelligence, soft skills, and thriving at work. Sociodemographic characteristics, including age, gender, education, and nursing experience, were also collected. Statistical analyses were used to analyze the data, including ANOVA, t-tests, Pearson correlation, and stepwise regression. Results The findings revealed nurses’ positive perceptions of organizational culture and documentation skills. However, areas such as measures and rewards and staff relations and communication indicated opportunities for improvement. Nurses reported high vitality levels but needed more learning opportunities at work. Significant correlations were found between demographic variables, organizational intelligence, soft skills, and thriving. Organizational intelligence demonstrated a robust positive relationship with both soft skills and thriving. Age, gender, education, and experience significantly influenced nurses’ soft skills and thriving. Conclusion The study highlights the importance of organizational intelligence in enhancing nurses’ professional capabilities and well-being. Addressing demographic factors and fostering a supportive work environment is crucial for optimizing nursing practice and organizational effectiveness. Nursing implications Insights from this study can inform targeted interventions and policy decisions to enhance nursing practice, organizational development, and healthcare outcomes in Egypt. Fostering organizational intelligence and soft skills among nurses can improve patient care, increase job satisfaction, and overall organizational success.

Background: In the contemporary healthcare environment, managing human resources expertise is just as imperative as having the supreme amount of working capital. Every business must constantly build its capacity, expertise, and competitive edge by utilizing its intellectual property and experience. Objective: This study aimed to assess the relationship between green intellectual capital and organizational competitive advantage among nurses. Methods: The study employed a descriptive correlational design among 350 nurses selected using convenience sampling. Data were collected from March 2023 to June 2023 using the Organizational Competitive Advantage Scale and the Green Intellectual Capital Questionnaire. Abstract Background Premenstrual syndrome (PMS) is a clinical condition characterized by recurrent moderate-to-severe affective, physical, and behavioral symptoms during the menstrual cycle. The present study aimed to assess the relation between metabolic syndrome (MetS) and symptoms severity in patients with premenstrual syndrome (PMS). This multicentric propensity score matched analysis included 300 women with PMS. They comprised 150 women with MetS and 150 women without MetS. Diagnosis of PMS was based on the validated Arabic version of Premenstrual Symptoms Screening Tool (PSST). For the diagnosis of MetS, we adopted the Harmonized Joint Scientific Statement (HJSS) on metabolic syndrome recommendations. Results The present study included 300 patients with PMS. They comprised 150 patients with MetS and 150 patients without MetS. Surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation therapy are all forms of cancer treatment, as well as more recent methods including interventional radiology and immunotherapy. In this study, we synthesize a novel chitosan (CH) nanocomplex (NC)-based polysaccharide Krestin (PSK) for drug delivery. This technique was used to develop PSK@CH@NC. According to the study, PSK@CH@NC had a particle size of around 500 nm, slight polydispersity as observed under a scanning electron microscope, and a strong positive surface charge of 18 mV. Investigation into the in vitro growth inhibition of the MCF-7 cell line after treatment with CH, PSK, and PSK@CH@NC was followed by morphological changes. Compared to other treatment groups, PSK@CH@NC therapy dramatically reduced the fraction of apoptotic cells, cancer cell survival, and proliferation. Fluorescence analysis was used to examine how PSK@CH@NC affected the distribution of cell cycle phases. This study also shows that a promising foundation for creating cancer nanomedicine can be established by employing new polysaccharides.

This study aims to provide essential data for the interior design program of new public libraries in Dubai by investigating user satisfaction with interior space characteristics. To achieve this objective, a survey was conducted among users of six public libraries in Dubai, and self-filling questionnaires of 42 questions were collected from 280 participants. The survey findings indicate that public libraries in Dubai are mainly used for educational purposes, with differences in space usage patterns among age groups. Those in their teens and twenties mainly used the General Reading Room, the Cultural Data Room by those in their thirties, and the Electronic Information Room by those in their forties and older. Users’ satisfaction with public library spaces differed based on gender and age groups. Men expressed higher satisfaction levels than women, and the Electronic Information Room received the highest satisfaction rating. The General Reading Room and Cultural Data Room had the least satisfactory interior design, while satisfaction with the Electronic Information Room was relatively high. The survey also revealed that users’ furniture arrangement preferences varied, with most students favoring the face-to-face seating arrangement. The study findings can serve as primary data for creating new public libraries in Dubai that cater to diverse user perspectives and requirements. However, further research is needed to obtain more in-depth insights, such as increasing the number of cases and conducting user interviews based on gender, profession, and age.

In Dubai, 38.9 % of the total energy consumption is related to buildings, and the high-rise building sector is key to energy efficiency. BIPV (Building Integrated Photovoltaic) can be a very efficient alternative in Dubai because of building load reduction and power generation. This paper aims to investigate energy efficiency according to the number of floors with BIPV application. As a methodology, an analysis model for office use was used with the curtain wall with a floor height of 3.6 m, floor area of 400 m2, and a window area ratio to wall area ratio of 80 %. Energy Plus Version 9.0 and TRNSYS were used as evaluation tools. The physical properties of windows and doors in the analysis model were assumed to be low-E double-glazed glass with a Solar Radiation Gain Coefficient (SHGC) of 0.564, a visible light transmittance of 47.2 %, and a thermal transmittance of 1.760 W/m2K. The result showed that when the alternatives of the window replacement type, exterior wall finishing type, and hybrid type BIPV system are applied, heating and cooling energy consumption is reduced by 13.2 % to 32.8 %. It was proven that applying BIPV was effective in high-rise office buildings. It is practical to replace windows and apply light-transmitting amorphous thin film Photovoltaic (PV) double-layered, double-layered Low-E, or triple Low-E windows, replace exterior wall finishing materials with crystalline PV, or use a mixture of both. The simulation results show that applying a roof-top BAPV (Building-Applied Photovoltaic) system is only practical for low-rise buildings.

Objectives: This study aimed to investigate the level of professional shared governance and career motivation and their relationship among nurses in Egypt. Methods: A cross-sectional survey was conducted. A total of 724 nurses working in inpatient medical, surgical, and critical care units in Alexandria Main University Hospital were recruited from May to August 2022. The Index of Professional Nursing Governance (IPNG) version 3.0 and the Career Motivation Scale were used for evaluation. Results: The IPNG version 3.0 total score was 109.18 ± 22.76, that nurses perceived had a low level of professional shared governance; the access to information dimension achieved the highest average mean score (2.81 ± 0.76), followed by the ability to set goals and conflict resolution dimension (2.75 ± 0.53). On the other hand, the dimension of participation in the committee structure achieved the lowest average mean score (1.65 ± 0.37). The total score of career motivation was 69.82 ± 9.70 this reflects that nurses perceived a moderate level of career motivation. The career insight dimension achieved the highest average mean score (3.56 ± 0.34), while the career resilience dimension achieved the lowest average mean score (3.07 ± 0.49). This research paper examines Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) conditions in newly constructed apartments in Dubai to be more sustainable for residents to have healthier lifestyles. Enhanced airtightness and chemical-laden materials contribute to IAQ pollution in these buildings. The study aims to assess pollutant concentrations and variations based on building height. Measurements were conducted in 12 apartment units using the WHO’s IAQ assessment methodology. Most pollutants were within limits, but TVOC exceeded the Dubai Municipality’s standard, measuring at 2634.4 μg/m³, approximately nine times higher than the standard. HCHO (163.4 μg/m³) and toluene (551.4 μg/m³) were identified as significant pollutants with potential health effects. Analysis of pollutant concentrations based on building height revealed higher TVOC levels in upper areas, with 2,828 μg/m³ in the upper area compared to 2,443 μg/m³ in the lower area, indicating more severe indoor air pollution in Ethylbenzene and styrene also highest in upper areas, with ethylbenzene at 122 μg/m³ and styrene at 82 μg/m³ in the upper area, potentially due to elevated sources. Toluene and xylene concentrations were elevated in the middle area, with toluene at 574 μg/m³ and xylene at 321 μg/m³, likely influenced by materials and occupant activities. Benzene concentrations were consistent across all heights at 2.94 μg/m³, suggesting a common source. HCHO concentrations were relatively consistent but slightly higher in the middle and upper areas, with 171 μg/m³ in both, likely influenced by ventilation and emissions. While average pollutant concentrations met WHO standards, many units exceeded recommended limits, requiring targeted interventions. The study highlights the importance of addressing IAQ concerns and implementing strategies to reduce indoor air pollutants and improve ventilation. These findings contribute to IAQ knowledge in Dubai’s residential buildings, guiding policymakers, architects, and developers in effective policies and guidelines. Further research on seasonal variations and other IAQ factors is recommended for better understanding and long-term monitoring. Prioritizing IAQ in newly constructed apartments is crucial for healthier living in Dubai. The residential building sector can protect residents’ health by implementing appropriate measures while delivering upscale living experiences.

In response to the growing concern of air pollution in Dubai, this study was undertaken to measure and analyze indoor and outdoor particulate matter (PM) concentrations in residential buildings during the spring dust storm period. The research focused on the infiltration of PM into indoor spaces and its impact on indoor air quality, exploring the relationship between PM particle diameter, building infiltration rates, and the indoor influence of outdoor PM. Conducted in a two-bedroom residential unit near a busy road, the study utilized particle size analysis and the indoor-outdoor (I/O) ratio for measurements. The findings revealed that smaller particles, particularly ultrafine PM2.5, had a more substantial influence on indoor PM concentrations than larger particles. It was noted that buildings with higher infiltration rates, especially those with natural ventilation, were more susceptible to outdoor PM infiltration. Additionally, the study highlighted the significant role of occupant behavior, such as cooking and cleaning, in generating indoor PM. However, further research is necessary to better understand the correlation between architectural characteristics, infiltration rates, and the indoor influence of outdoor PM in residential buildings. The study underscores the importance of improved ventilation systems, raising awareness of indoor air quality, and implementing effective mitigation strategies to reduce indoor air pollution and enhance indoor air quality in urban environments like Dubai. These findings contribute significantly to our understanding of indoor and outdoor PM dynamics, emphasizing the urgent need to address indoor air pollution in urban areas.

A 35-year-old woman with a medical history notable for celiac disease, ulcerative colitis, and bipolar disorder presents to the Emergency Department for evaluation of a strange sensation in the chest and neck associated with nausea and vomiting for one day. Airports, especially international ones, within the urban context should have a specific consideration so they do not affect human lives. The planes fly a few hundred meters above these urban fabrics, and when they are landing, they fly slightly over 20–40 m above the ground. This paper aims to measure aircraft noise, conduct a survey on the subjective reaction of residents to aircraft noise, and present primary data necessary to secure the acoustic performance of residential buildings neighboring an international airport. The methodology used a field survey for six buildings neighboring Dubai International Airport in the United Arab Emirates, analyzed building/window material, and a subjective reaction survey. The result showed that the average equivalent noise level (Leq) was 66.4 dB(A), and the average maximum noise level (Lmax) was 73.3 dB(A). The indoor noise of the target buildings was found to be in the range of NC-35 to NC-53, exceeding NC-30, the permissible noise standard. The average noise level difference between indoors and outdoors was 13.6–30.5 dB(A). It was statistically proven that aircraft noise is a significant source of sound pollution and occurs all day throughout the year, regardless of the season. The response rate for loudness and noisiness was found to be very high. Regarding the disturbance in daily life due to annoyance, aircraft noise is significantly affected in the order of telephone calls, conversations, listening to TV and radio, sleep disturbance, concentration disturbance, and rest disturbance. This study will serve as primary data to present basic data necessary to secure an optimum acoustic performance of a residential building against aircraft noise.
