The study was conducted in the Dairy Production Department of the College of Animal Production, University of Sinnar, to examine the effect of milk type (sheep’s, goat’s and cow’s milk) on Physicochemical and sensory characteristics of Sudanese white soft cheese. Ten (10) liters of fresh cow's full cream milk were obtained from the farm of College of Animal Production, University of Sinnar, and (10) liters of goat’s milk and (10) liters of sheep’s milk were purchased from a private farm at Abu Naama area. Cheese were made from the three types of milk using the standard procedure followed in the production of Sudanese White soft cheese manufacture. After milk pasteurization, 0.02% CaCl2 and starter culture (1:1 combination of Streptococcus thermophilus and lactobacillus bulgaricus) at the rate of 2% (v/v) were added, followed by the addition of rennet. After coagulation, the white cheese made was stored at 4°C. Physicochemical and sensory evaluation was done for the cheese samples. The cheese showed that milk type significantly (p0.05) variation. Data from this study may contribute to improve the cheese-making process in small scale, using milk from different species (sheep and goat) not from cow only.

There is a paucity of evidence about the prevalence and risk factors for symptomatic infection among children. This study aimed to describe the prevalence of symptomatic coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) and its risk factors in children and adolescents aged 0–18 years in Qatar. We conducted a cross-sectional study of all children aged 0–18 years diagnosed with COVID-19 using polymerase chain reaction in Qatar during the period 1st March to 31st July 2020. A generalised linear model with a binomial family and identity link was used to assess the association between selected factors and the prevalence of symptomatic infection. A total of 11 445 children with a median age of 8 years (interquartile range (IQR) 3–13 years) were included in this study. The prevalence of symptomatic COVID-19 was 36.6% (95% confidence interval (CI) 35.7–37.5), and it was similar between children aged P = 0.001), having visited a health care facility (RD 0.54; 95% CI 0.45–0.62; P = 0.001), and children aged under 5 years (RD 0.05; 95% CI 0.02–0.07; P = 0.001) or aged 10 years or older (RD 0.04; 95% CI 0.02–0.06; P = 0.001). A third of the children with COVID-19 were symptomatic with a higher proportion of fever in very young children and a higher proportion of cough in those between 10 and 18 years of age.

Background Ovarian carcinoma is the fifth leading cause of cancer death worldwide. The tumor mostly associated with variant factors such as advance age, early menstruation and gene association. We aimed to highlight the effectiveness of the second line chemotherapy in the management of ovarian cancer patients in Sudan. Methods The data were collected from the hospital patient’s records for five years period of time, included 62 patients with ovarian cancer who is treated by the second line platinum resistant chemotherapy. Result The peak prevalence of the patients was found in Aljazeera state, and the least in Algadarif state. Age group above 55 years was the most affected group. The vast majority of patients showed partially mass disappearing, completes and continue growing tumor respectively. All patients received variant cycles of chemotherapy as fellow 3, 6, 2, 4, 5, 1 cycle respectively. 79.4% of the patients had achieved the normal value of cancer antigen 125 (CA125) levels after the treatment. 50% of patients had 1-2 months interval time before the cancer recurrence, 32.2% had 3-4 months and 17.8% had 5-6 months before the disease recurrence. The serous adenocarcinoma was found to be the most histological type in all the patients and the least two types were observed are cell carcinoma and serous papillary. Conclusion Our findings suggested that, Aljazeera state citizens were more vulnerable to resist the first line chemotherapy than others. The Sudanese patients with ovarian cancer may have better response to Gemzar.

Food adulteration is a bigger problem faces the world and developing countries are higher risk related with this problem due to lack of good monitoring and policies. Milk in natural form has a high food value; it comprises nutrients, which are essential for proper growth and maintenance of the human body. Recently, there has been an upsurge in milk consumption worldwide, especially in developing countries, and consumption of milk is now forming a significant part of the diet for a high proportion of the global population. As a result of the most increased demands, high growth in competition in the dairy markets and increasing complexity of the supply chain, some unscrupulous milk producers are indulging in milk fraud. This malpractice has become a big common problem in the developing countries. Milk is often subjected to fraud (by means of adulteration) for lack of proper hygienic conditions of processing storage or financial gain, transportation and marketing. Water is the most common adulterant used which dilute and decreases the nutritional value of milk. If the water is contaminated, for example, with pathogens or chemicals, this poses a big serious health risk for consumers. To the diluted milk, inferior cheaper materials may be added such as milk powder, cane sugar and urea, even more hazardous chemicals including melamine, caustic soda, formalin, and detergents. These additions have the potential to cause serious healthrelated problems. This review aims to shows the impacts of milk fraud on nutrition and food safety in developing countries especially China and Sudan.

Pyrenes undergo initial electrophilic substitution in the 1 position; a second substitution typically occurs in the 3, 6, or 8 positions. We sought a pyrene with synthetically useful handles in the unusual 2,7 substitution pattern. To that end, 7-amino-2-pyrenecarboxylic acid was prepared by partial reduction of pyrene to 4,5,9,10-tetrahydropyrene, Friedel−Crafts acylation in the 2 position, and conversion to 2-carbethoxytetrahydropyrene through the haloform reaction and esterification. Nitration of the ester proceeded in the 7 position; rearomatization, reduction of the nitro group, and saponification gave the title compound.
