Abstract

Due to the lack of automated methods, to diagnose cerebrovascular disease, time-of-flight magnetic resonance angiography (TOF-MRA) is assessed visually, making it time-consuming. The commonly used encoder-decoder architectures for cerebrovascular segmentation utilize redundant features, eventually leading to the extraction of low-level features multiple times. Additionally, convolutional neural networks (CNNs) suffer from performance degradation when the batch size is small, and deeper networks experience the vanishing gradient problem. Methods: In this paper, we attempt to solve these limitations and propose the 3D cerebrovascular attention UNet method, named CV-AttentionUNet, for precise extraction of brain vessel images. We proposed a sequence of preprocessing techniques followed by deeply supervised UNet to improve the accuracy of segmentation of the brain vessels leading to a stroke. To combine the low and high semantics, we applied the attention mechanism. This mechanism focuses on relevant associations and neglects irrelevant anatomical information. Furthermore, the inclusion of deep supervision incorporates different levels of features that prove to be beneficial for network convergence. Results: We demonstrate the efficiency of the proposed method by cross-validating with an unlabeled dataset, which was further labeled by us. We believe that the novelty of this algorithm lies in its ability to perform well on both labeled and unlabeled data with image processing-based enhancement. The results indicate that our method performed better than the existing state-of-the-art methods on the TubeTK dataset. Abstract

GRAND features both soft-input and hard-input variants that are well suited to efficient hardware implementations that can be characterized with achievable average and worst-case decoding latency. This paper introduces step-GRAND, a soft-input variant of GRAND that, in addition to achieving appealing average decoding latency, also reduces the worst-case decoding latency of the corresponding hardware implementation. The hardware implementation results demonstrate that the proposed step-GRAND can decode CA-polar code $(128,105+11)$ with an average information throughput of $47.7$ Gbps at the target FER of $\leq10^{-7}$. Furthermore, the proposed step-GRAND hardware is $10\times$ more area efficient than the previous soft-input ORBGRAND hardware implementation, and its worst-case latency is $\frac{1}{6.8}\times$ that of the previous ORBGRAND hardware., Comment: Submitted to 2023 IEEE Globecom Workshops

Abstract

Let T be a self-map on a metric space (X, d). Then T is called the Kannan map if there exists \alpha, 0 < \alpha < 1/2, such that d(T(x), T(y)) <= \alpha[d(x, T(x)) + d(y, T(y))], for all x, y in X. This paper aims to introduce a new method to construct fractal functions using Kannan mappings. First, we give the rigorous construction of fractal functions with the help of the Kannan iterated function system (IFS). We also show the existence of a Borel probability measure supported on the attractor of the Kannan IFS satisfying the strong separation condition. Moreover, we study the smoothness of the constructed fractal functions. Abstract

There are several online newspapers in urdu but for the users it is difficult to find the content they are looking for because these most of them contain irrelevant data and most users did not get what they want to retrieve. Our proposed framework will help to predict Urdu news in the interests of users and reduce the users searching time for news. For this purpose, NLP techniques are used for pre-processing, and then TF-IDF with cosine similarity is used for gaining the highest similarity and recommended news on user preferences. Moreover, the BERT language model is also used for similarity, and by using the BERT model similarity increases as compared to TF-IDF so the approach works better with the BERT language model and recommends news to the user on their interest. Abstract

The trend for eating foods which confer health benefits is increasing day by day. Spices are widely used in the world for adding flavor or aroma to different food products. Besides adding unique flavor and aroma to products several spices have been documented to possess functional and therapeutic abilities. Regular eating of these spices reduces the incidence of many diseases. Bakery products are consumed throughout the world and constitute one of the biggest food industries. Some spices that are not a part of our daily diet, have been incorporated into bakery products to enhance the nutritive and functional potential of the products as consumer demand is higher for more nutritious and health beneficial foods. The population is rising and the incidence of diseases is also increasing, so it has become necessary to add components like these spices for health benefits and to prevent the occurrence of many diseases. This review summarizes the functional and therapeutic potential of some underrated spices including rosemary, thyme, fenugreek, clove, cinnamon, oregano, and their incorporation to formulate the valuable bakery products.

Abstract

An export control regime plays a vital tool in the effort to counter the proliferation of traditional weapons and weapons of mass destruction. However, there are new and fundamental challenges with this system. The article emphasizes the importance of understanding and implementing nuclear export control mechanisms to advance international security and prevent the spread of nuclear weapons. The research will apply descriptive analysis of the mechanisms of nuclear export controls. Critical analysis of the nuclear export control apparatuses will be applied as a technique to review the loopholes in the enforcement mechanisms of these initiatives. The debate covers key aspects of nuclear export control, including legislative frameworks, industry compliance, licensing and authorization procedures, verification and monitoring systems and control scope. Understanding these elements will enable stakeholders to support responsible and peaceful transfers of nuclear technology while ensuring compliance with international commitments and nonproliferation standards. The paper further delves into the context of these regimes, which are constructed in a way that provides cushion to the international community led by the Western states. The article emphasizes the critical role of the mechanisms of nuclear export control in preserving international security by preventing the unauthorized transfer of sensitive nuclear materials and technology. It also emphasizes the need for industry and national collaboration in this regard.
