Universities face many challenges such as budget costs, licensing, and software and hardware management in their activities related to information and communications technology (ICT). Through overcoming these challenges, universities may deliver smart, secure, and fluent services for their instructors, students, researchers, information technologies (IT) staff, and administrators. Cloud computing can be a solution to these challenges. The transition to cloud computing in universities is an important step in terms of online education, economic crisis, globalization, and high and constantly changing requirements, especially in the COVID-19 period. Cloud computing can play a very important role in quickly solving the problems faced by universities during this coronavirus period. The purpose of this research was to determine the position of universities in Turkey within the context of cloud computing and to present an abstract hybrid cloud framework for these universities. Descriptive method and survey technique were used in the research. SPSS program was used to analyze the data. Percentage, frequency, and chi-square statistics were used in the analysis process. As a result of the research, the existing conditions and problems in the use of the cloud service model in universities were tried to be identified and a road map for solving these problems was drawn up. In this context, a hybrid framework for adopting cloud computing in universities for them to overcome their identified challenges was proposed. The results are primarily intended to provide a guideline to universities in cloud computing adoption.

Light fidelity (Li-Fi) is a pioneering optical wireless communication (OWC) technology that utilizes visible light for wireless data transmission. Since its inception in a TED global talk by Professor Harald Haas in 2011, Li-Fi has captured significant attention in the research community. Smart home automation systems (SHAs) leverage internet of things (IoT) technology to remotely manage and automate various home devices and systems. Li-Fi technology has the potential to enable remote control of devices such as lighting, air conditioning, music systems, security cameras, and door locks within SHAs. This study presents Li-Fi-IoT, a Li-Fi-based system designed for efficient and secure IoT device management in SHAs. A series of experiments demonstrates the system's potential in IoT device control using Li-Fi technology. The research findings highlight the substantial improvement in data transfer speed, energy efficiency, and data security that Li-Fi technology can bring to SHAs. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Iron and ferritin have been used in human medicine for years to reveal the presence of inflammation. However, studies evaluating these parameters, especially in respiratory system diseases, are quite rare in veterinary medicine. We aimed to test the usability of serum Fe and Fe-related parameters [total iron-binding capacity (TIBC), unsaturated iron-binding capacity (UIBC) and transferrin saturation (TS) levels] as inflammatory and diagnostic biomarkers in calves with bovine respiratory disease complex (BRDC). To mark inflammation, some selected acute-phase proteins including serum ferritin and transferrin levels were measured because of their close relationship with iron metabolism. The material of this study consisted of 15 calves, aged 1-3 months with BRDC (Group I) and 10 healthy calves aged 1-3 months (Group II) based on the presence of respiratory clinical findings. Serum Fe, TIBC and TS levels were low and ferritin levels were high in Group I (P ≤ 0.001). The BRDC group was separated into two subgroups based on PCR results, namely Virus+ (n=9) and Virus- (n=6). The calves in the Virus+ group had significantly lower levels of Fe (P=0.001) and significantly higher values of ferritin (P=0.002), compared to the healthy group. On the basis of inter-group comparison and ROC analysis, we concluded that Fe (primarily), ferritin, TIBC and TS levels can be used as inflammatory biomarkers and possible diagnostic markers in the BRDC as useful, practical, inexpensive substitutes. As a suggestion, these parameters which are believed to play a role in the pathogenesis of the disease, can be used as potential prognostic biomarkers in studies involving treatment.

The logistics performance of countries is important in trade flows. As part of the supply chain process, logistics is the backbone of trade processes. In this direction, the Logistics Performance Index (LPI) put forward by the World Bank can be considered as an indicator. With the LPI, countries have the opportunity to evaluate the effectiveness of their activities in trade and logistics. The aim of the study is to rank and analyze African countries with the integrated Entropy-MOORA Reference Approach using the LPI values for 2023. In order to increase the depth of the study, an evaluation is made based on the trade data between Türkiye and African countries for 2022. The study aims to rank African countries on the basis of six criteria defined by the MOORA Reference Approach and to provide a perspective on the development of Türkiye's trade relations with African countries in line with trade figures. According to the results of the study, South Africa ranks first, Botswana second, and Libya last in the ranking of LPI countries. Türkiye's trade volume with the continent, South Africa ranks fifth, Botswana fifty-third, and Libya third. Therefore, there is no correlation between LPI and trade data in current situation. Introduction: Bovine parainfluenza virus-3 (BPIV3) and bovine respiratory syncytial virus (BRSV) are the cause of respiratory disease in cattle worldwide. With other pathogens, they cause bovine respiratory disease complex (BRDC) in ruminants. The aim of the study was the detection and molecular characterisation of BPIV3 and BRSV from nasal swabs and lung samples of cows in and around the Erzurum region of eastern Turkey. Material and Methods: In total, 155 samples were collected. Of animals used in the study 92 were males and 63 females. The age of the animals was between 9 months and 5 years, mean 1.4 years. Most males were in the fattening period and being raised in open sheds; females were in the lactating period and kept in free stall barns. All samples were tested for the presence of viral genes using RT-PCR. Gene-specific primers in a molecular method (RT-PCR) identified BRSV (fusion gene) and BPIV3 (matrix gene) strains at the genus level. Results: RNA from BRSV and BPIV3 was detected in two (1.29%) and three (1.93%) samples, respectively, one of each of which was sequenced and the sequences were aligned with reference virus strains. Phylogenetic analyses clustered the strains in genotype C/BPIV3 and subgroup III/BRSV. Conclusion: The results indicate that BRSV and BPIV3 contribute to bovine respiratory disease cases in Turkey. This is the first report on their detection and molecular characterisation in ruminants in Turkey.

Introduction. Changes in thyroid hormone level can affect the cardiovascular system. The aim of this study was to show how the Tpeak -Tend (Tpe) interval, which is a new marker of ventricular arrythmia, is affected in patients who have become euthyroid following Levothyroxine treatment for hypothyroidism, as this has not been examined previously in literature.

Background: Canine parvoviral enteritis (CPE) is a fatal disease worldwide. The treatment of CPE is based mainly on supportive and symptomatic treatment. Antiviral addition to the treatment may result in a higher survival. Objectives: This study evaluated the effects of antiviral treatments with a standardized treatment (ST) on the clinical and inflammatory response of dogs with naturally occurring CPE. Methods: Twenty-eight dogs with CPE caused by canine parvovirus type 2 were divided randomly into treatment groups. The ST group received fluid, antibiotic, antiemetic, and deworming treatments. The antiviral treatment groups received the same ST with an additional antiviral drug, recombinant feline interferon omega (rFeIFN-ω), oseltamivir (OSEL) or famciclovir (FAM). Results: Compared to the healthy control, the tumor necrosis factor-α, interleukin-1β, interferon (IFN)-α, IFN-γ, haptoglobin, and C-reactive protein values were high ( p < 0.05) on day zero. At presentation, mild lymphopenia, neutropenia, and a high neutrophil to lymphocyte (LYM) ratio (NLR) were also observed. Adding rFeIFN-ω to the ST produced the best improvement in the clinical score with a decreased NLR, while leucocytes remained low and inflammatory markers stayed high on day three. The survival rates of the groups were 85.7% in ST+IFN, 71.4% in ST+OSEL, 71.4% in ST+FAM, and 57.1% in ST groups on day seven. Conclusions: Antiviral drugs may be valuable in treating CPE to improve the clinical signs and survival. In addition, the decrease in NLR in favor of LYM may be an indicator of the early prognosis before the improvement of leukocytes, cytokines, and acute phase proteins in CPE. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Objective: This study aimed to examine the mandible form features of the mandible, such as inter-second molar width, anteroposterior length, arch perimeter length, arch breadth, corpus height/width in the mandibular second molars (MnSM) region, and arch form, and the relation for the occasion of the 1-rooted/C-shaped. Methods: The study analyzed cone-beam computed tomography images of 215 male and 215 female Turkish patients to determine the prevalence of 1-rooted and C-shaped MnSM. Mandibular dentoalveolar characteristics of individuals with bilateral (1R-1R group) and unilateral (1R-2R group) 1-rooted MnSM were examined and compared with those with bilateral 2-roots (2R-2R group) MnSM. Statistical tests were performed using Chi-square, one-way ANOVA, Tukey, and binary logistic regression analysis at the 5% significance level. Results: The prevalence of 1-rooted and 1-rooted/C-shaped MnSM was 12.79% and 9.65%, respectively. Root fusion was more commonly present in females (p<0.05). In the 1R-1R group, the anteroposterior length was shorter than in the 2R-2R group (p<0.05). There was no difference between the groups for other features (p>0.05). Conclusion: Although the study found a shorter anteroposterior length in the 1R-1R group, no feature was a predictive variable for 1-rooted/C-shaped MnSM. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

We evaluated the free fatty acids differences in plasma between hyperemesis gravidarum(HG) and healthy pregnant in first trimester pregnancy.
