The term "metaverse" is used to describe a post reality universe that merges physical and virtual reality in a permanent, multi-user environment. Due to recent advancements and the convergence of technologies that enable these interactions, interest in the metaverse's applications has increased in various areas, including the education most recent ones. The purpose of this work is to demonstrate how, although the world of the metaverse is still in an embryonic phase, if properly used in combination with other skills, it can simplify learning processes and, consequently, make knowledge universal and applicable in any context such as those derived from motor activity. Abstract

Riassunto – Secondo l’UNESCO (2015) l’educazione fisica di qualità è un’esperienza di apprendimento pianificata, progressiva ed inclusiva che si sviluppa durante il curriculo scolastico, sin dai primi anni (scuola dell’infanzia), nell’istruzione primaria e secondaria e costituisce la base per un impegno permanente della persona nelle attività motorie e nello sport.Per affrontare questa problematica dell’educazione fisica e della sua allocazione scientifica, culturale e didattica, è doveroso inquadrarla quale emergenza pedagogica. Il sistema scolastico deve, quindi, valorizzare il capitale umano, avendo uno sguardo non solo verso i discenti, ma anche nei confronti della formazione dei docenti, intesi come professionisti in grado di potenziare la qualità della didattica inclusiva. The law 5 February 1992, n. 104 "Framework law for assistance, social integration and the rights of handicapped persons" and subsequent amendments and additions, created with the intention of realizing the constitutional principles of equal opportunities and the centrality of the person, among the provisions it intends achieve to lead to the complete inclusion of the person with disabilities in society, sees sporting activity among the tools that can be used to meet, welcome and satisfy the needs of people with disabilities. The application of these provisions of the law, especially in the school environment, must be integrated with approaches and methodologies adapted to the context, to achieve the full development of the student. Abstract

Blepharitis is a common chronic inflammatory process of the eyelid margin that may be associated with several systemic conditions. Symptoms associated with blepharitis include burning sensation, irritation, tearing, photophobia, blurred vision, and red eyes. Moreover, red eye and conjunctivitis-blepharitis are among the most common ocular diseases in elderly patients and may be described in association with ocular rosacea. In the paper that follows, the authors detail and discuss the case of Giulio Clovio (Julije Klović, 1498-1578), the famous 15th century Croatian miniaturist. His portrait, clearly showing this common ocular condition, was painted by El Greco in 1570/1571 and is currently exhibited in the Capodimonte Museum in Naples, Italy (inv #Q191). The differential diagnosis of staphylococcal blepharitis secondary to rosacea has been suggested on the basis of the clinical history derived from the reassessment of historical sources as well as the accurate examination of the painting.

Abstract

The aim of this research work is to propose a special didactics offer that can also guarantee disabled young people the opportunity to practice swimming. The sports system ,and therefore also that of swimming activities, has the duty to pursue the goal of accessibility to all, and it is clear how important it is to structure a sports didactics strategy aimed at the sports development of disabled children with consequent positive effects on social aspects, such as inclusion and increased self-esteem and autonomy. In this regard, we will analyze the experimentation inherent a field research carried out on a sample of 18 disabled children, over a period of 10 weeks, in order to identify the most effective and efficient proposal for special sports didactics both in athletic and social terms.

32. Guarana and physical performance: A myth or reality?

Abstract

Guarana (Paullinia cupana) is a rainforest vine that was domesticated in the Amazon for its caffeine-rich fruits. Each fruit contains from one to three seeds which, properly dried, give rise to a brown paste with a bitter taste. The Food and Drug Administration generally recognizes guarana as safe, although there are no established dosages and it is unclear how much guarana is in each drink, because many companies do not list a milligram amount. The increasing number of energy drink with caffeine-related clearly shows that there seems to be a real risk for adverse health effects such as arrhythmias. However, under moderate use and without combining other stimulants or alcohol, the risk for such side effects seem negligible. Anyway, there is an overwhelming lack of evidence to substantiate claims that guarana contribute to the enhancement of physical or cognitive performance. Additional well-designed, randomized, placebo-controlled studies are needed in order to assess claims made for this product and further elucidate potential adverse effects.

Abstract

The Italian primary school, among its institutional teachings, requires the presence of motor and sports education, and a teacher that is specialized and competent in this discipline. Starting from this hypothesis, this research work sets itself the objective of identifying both an innovative and effective didactic-pedagogical program for the school context, and an appropriate evaluation approach consistent with the motor, socio-relational and educational objectives pursued through motor and sports sciences. Through the experimental program "Sport in Classe", the research was carried out directly in the primary school context and allowed to meet the set objectives and highlight the importance that the graduate in motor sciences could assume in the Italian primary school.

Abstract

Introduction. Breast cancer is a big problem in Italy and in the world. Many women are affected. It absorbs many economic resources because it tends to develop complications. Sport and physical activity have positive effects on the pathology and its complications. Methods: Number of cases and costs were compared in the presence and absence of physical activity. Results: Our results support the idea that physical activity protects against breast cancer. Conclusion: This study demonstrates the importance of physical activity and sport in the management of breast cancer and its complications.

Abstract

The long‐term changes of liver stiffness (LS) in patients who achieve viral clearance after direct‐acting anti‐HCV therapy remain undefined. We conducted a multicentre prospective study to investigate this aspect. Patients with HCV infection treated with DAAs were enrolled from six Italian centres; they underwent clinical, biochemical, ultrasound and transient elastography evaluations before treatment (T0), 12 weeks (SVR12) and 24 months (T24) after the end of therapy. Among the 516 consecutive patients enrolled, 301 had cirrhosis. LS significantly decreased from T0 to SVR (14.3 vs 11.1 kPa, p =.002), with a progressive reduction until T24 (8.7 kPa, p <.001). However, only patients with steatosis and those who developed HCC did not experience a late improvement in LS. Multivariate analysis of baseline and follow‐up variables identified steatosis as the only independent predictor of failure of LS improvement (OR 1.802, p =.013). ROC curve analysis of the association of LS with the risk of developing HCC showed that SVR12 ≥14.0 kPa had the highest accuracy (sensitivity 82%, specificity 99%; AUC: 0.774). Multivariate analysis revealed that LS was the only variable independently associated with an increased risk of developing HCC (OR 6.470, p =.035). Achieving an SVR was associated with a progressive, long‐term decline of LS, suggesting a late improvement in liver fibrosis, besides the resolution of inflammation. Fatty liver and the development of HCC interfered with late reduction of LS. Patients with an LS ≥14 kPa at 12 weeks after the end of treatment were at higher risk for developing HCC.
