This paper reviews The ANCER Conference 2020: Disruption as Opportunity organised by Lasalle College of the Arts in Singapore. The conference focussed on how the arts and cultural sectors in Southeast Asia have been navigating the challenges caused by Covid-19. By showcasing a wide range of ongoing art projects in different parts of Southeast and East Asia, the event offered a fresh perspective on the meanings of (making) local-regional-global nexuses which have been both challenged and given new impetus by the current crisis. The Southeast Asian perspectives highlighted in the conference also provided new opportunities to scrutinise the crisis not just in geographical but also in temporal terms, questioning the relationship between the past, present and future state of the arts. The presentations provided inspiring cases to examine the political relevance of artists and the potential and limitations of the emergence of cultural policy entrepreneurs in different Southeast Asian societies. Information about the live drawing performance symposium titled Draw to Perform 3 held at the Crows Nest Gallery in London, England on July 30-31,2016 is presented. Topics include the performative aspect of drawing, involvement of physical body in drawing and advanced digitalized versions of writing, drawing and marking. The symposium featured speakers Ram Samocha, an artist who specializes in performative explorations of drawing.

In this paper, we provide a brief description of the 1965 Penn State Seminar, consider the ways in which art museums and original works of art were (and were not) positioned at the seminar, and argue that art historian Joshua C. Taylor and art education professor June King McFee elucidated ideas that influenced and changed the trajectory of art museum education, a related field that was concurrently emerging as an area of study and research as well as a profession. In particular, Taylor's presentation at the Penn State Seminar, "The History of Art in Education," provides rich ground to cultivate pedagogical implications of creative looking and knowing based on art history as a component of the art curriculum, and also suggests important aspects to consider in relation to current art museum education practices. We also outline Taylor's subsequent writings that specifically address art museums and art museum education and suggest that his work provides evidence of an evolving understanding of art history and interpretation that opened up a space for contemporary practices of creative looking in the art museum. While education practitioners in art museums and art museum education were not explicitly included in the seminar, Taylor's presentation suggested multiple points of entry to locate the implications of art museum education within the field. Using Taylor's presentation as a springboard, we identify the implicit threads that associate ways of creative looking with contemporary educational practices and possibilities in the art museum. In this essay, we analyze Francis T. Villemain's statement, given near the end of the 1965 Penn State Seminar, where he pointed out the need to think about research and curriculum development in art education from an international perspective. We look at Villemain's brief statement through the lenses of postcolonial theories, delving into his philosophy of education, life, and professional history for clues on his motivations for proposing an international perspective at the seminar. We analyze Villemain's advocacy for exporting democracy and aesthetic excellence to underdeveloped areas of the world in relation to a larger fabric of ideas that permeated the intellectual milieu during the Cold War. The article presents information on the proceedings of a conference entitled "Dynamiques d'une histoire et d'une création. Le cas du Bénin" that was held in Paris, France during September 11, 2015. It discussed the contemporary developments in arts in the Republic of Benin in interdisciplinary perspective. The workshop on style and form going under the title of "las buenas formas" that took place this Spring under the auspices of INTIC (ICT Integration) with the collaboration of the Madrid Residencia de Estudiantes served as an introduction to the artistic trends currently encountered in our professional environment and related spheres. The series of conferences and round tables provided first hand accounts not only by renowned engineers with artistic leanings, but also by other professionals from the world of Fine Arts who fully appreciate these styles and forms. This article comments on this particular subject and forwards the place for good form or aesthetic appreciation in engineering work, particularly when attempting to argue in favour of its own formal value and one, in this respect, different from that of the other constructive arts. This serves as the setting in which to present some of the findings of the workshop on "Las buenas formas" that took place between April and June this year. The workshop included interventions by Julio Martínez Calzón, José Serna, Carlos Castañón, Jorge Bernabeu, Miguel Agulló and Fernando de Terán, all of whom being sufficiently renowned and esteemed professionals in this country to do away with any further presentation. Abstract This article was first given as a conference paper for the symposium of 'As Painting: Division and Displacement', at the Wexner Center for the Arts, Colombus, Ohio in May 2001. It is concerned with the way three French painters, Daniel Dezeuze, François Rouan and Christian Bonnefoi have, since the end of the 1960s, proposed in their work alternative models of 'non-composition' and with a background of a dominant modernist heritage (the monochrome, the grid, the series, specific objects). Collage and tressage bring Rouan and Bonnefoi to a way of thinking about the 'thickness of the surface' (l'épaisseur du plan) nourished through such references as cubist collage and the works of Mondrian and Pollock. Dezeuze also shares such techniques when he uses tarlatan gauze cut-outs which dismantle the unity of the picture surface becoming three-dimensional and sculptural and opening up a critical approach in terms of questions of the mode of production of the works as well as their modes of occupying space and exhibition. The research around the practices here is resituated within a theoretical context typified by the thinking of Jacques Lacan, Michel Foucault and Louis Althusser where notions of division and displacement enter into a resonance with those of the division of the subject and the deconstruction of structure and ideological apparatuses. Conferences and conventions often depend on event/convention planners to produce spectacular tradeshows to support their programs. Astudy which focused on exhibitor needs and the perceived benefits of participation was conducted during the winter of 1999 at an International Arts Convention in the eastern United States. Exhibitors' interests in convention participation fell into four primary areas: making contacts, gaining information, gaining visibility, and booking/selling a product or service. Understanding the areas of importance to exhibitors and the services/products that are necessary for them to achieve success can go a long way toward providing a meaningful experience and an avenue for communication for both convention exhibitors and planners.
