Küreselleşmenin yarattığı etkiler sonucunda, işletmeler bir yandanpiyasada rekabet etmekte zorlanırken diğer yandan toplumsal beklentilerikarşılamakta güçlük çekmektedir. Dolayısıyla toplumsal sorunlara duyarlıdavranmayan ve bunları gözardı eden işletmelerin, sadece küresel pazarda değil,içinde yaşadıkları toplumda da varlığını uzun dönemde sürdürmeleri mümkünolmamaktadır.İşletmelerin uzun dönemde var olabilmelerindeki en önemli etkenlerdenbiri finansal performanslarının düzeyidir. Üretim faktörlerinin planlı olarakbirlikte kullanımlarıyla mal ve hizmet üreten işletmelerin kuruluş amaçları karelde etmektir. Arz ve talep dengesine göre, bir mal veya hizmet arzının artmasıtoplumun talebi ile doğru orantılıdır. İşletmelerin toplumsal ihtiyaçlarıkarşılayabilmesi, beklentilerine cevap verebilmesi ve kar elde etmek dışında daetkinliklerde bulunmaları, bu talebin devamlılığını sağlamaktadır. Dolayısıyla,toplumun bir ögesi olan işletmeler, toplumsal problemlere yönelik çözümlersağlayacak faaliyetlerde bulunmalıdırlar.Bu tezin amacı, kurumsal sosyal sorumluluk kavramının işletmelerin finansalperformansı üzerindeki etkisinin belirlenmesidir. Bunun için 2012-2017 dönemiarasında BIST-Kurumsal Yönetim Endeksi'nde bulunan 33 işletmeye ilişkin malitablolar ile bu işletmelerin Kurumsal Yönetim Derecelendirme Raporlarında yeralan kurumsal sosyal sorumluluğa ilişşkin bilgileri dikkate alınmıştır.İşletmelerin finansal performansını temsilen finansal oranlar kullanılmıştır. vİşletmelerin kurumsal yönetim puanları, işletme büyüklüğü, kaldıraç oranı, aktifdevir hızı ve borç/kaynak oranı açıklayıcı değişkenler olarak dikkate alınmıştır.Panel veri analizi yönteminden yararlanılan bu tezin sonucunda, toplumtarafından kurumsal sosyal sorumluluk kavramına genellikle önem verildiği veduyarlı olunduğu belirlenmiştir. Therefore, businesses that do not behave responsibly towards socialproblems and ignore them are not only unable to sustain their long-term existencein the global market, but also in the society in which they exist.One of the most important factors in the long-term operations ofenterprises is the level of their financial performance. By bringing togetherproduction factors in a planned and systematic manner, the purpose ofcompanies that produce goods or services is to gain profit. According to thebalance of supply and demand, the increase in the supply of goods or services isproportional to the demand of society. For enterprises to meet social needs,outside of responding to expectations and making profits, they also need to engagein other activities to ensure the continuity of this demand. Therefore, businessesare part of the community and should be expressed in some studies that theyprovide support for solving social problems.This study was conducted to determine whether the concept of corporatesocial responsibility has an impact on the financial performance of enterprises.For this purpose, the financial statements and Corporate Governance Ratingreports of 33 business in the BIST-Corporate Governance Index in the years of2012 and 2017 were examined within the context of corporate socialresponsibility.viiThe study used the financial performance of enterprises as an indicator offinancial ratios calculated in the relevant years. In addition to the corporategovernance points of the selected enterprises, the business size, leverage ratio,active turnover ratio and debt resource ratio are taken into consideration asindependent variables. Financial statements of enterprises were analyzed by theratio analysis method and Corporate Governance Rating reports were analyzedby the content analysis method. The panel data analysis method was used forstatistical investigation of the concept of corporate social responsibility asindependent variables and its effects on financial performance indicators, whichwere dependent variables. As a result of the study, it was determined that societywas sensitive to and generally gave importance to the concept of corporate socialresponsibility. 135
