MOTION picture music , *FILM composers , *MUSICAL interpretation , *COMPUTER music , *MUSICAL composition - Abstract
The purpose of the article is to provide a scientific substantiation of the essence and significance of arrangement in film music scoring. The methodology of research is based on the integrated application of methods of analysis, comparison, generalisation, and systematisation. The scientific novelty of the results obtained is that the essence of arrangement as a process and result of creative adaptation of film music is substantiated; the main aspects of classical arrangements, that should be taken into account by a film composer when creating an electronic score, is defined; artistic and aesthetic principles of film music arrangement are proposed. Conclusions. Arranging music for a film is a complex creative process based on the principles of symphonism and carried out by means of instrumentation, transcription, compilation, and composition of musical material. The main methods of arrangement are harmonisation and instrumentation of new compositions and creation of original interpretations of well-known musical works in modern styles. Arranging film music involves a combination of classical composition and instrumentation techniques with modern music computer technologies, which contributes to the creation of high-quality music content. The purpose of this study is to study how a specific assistive technology, namely wash toilet systems, are used and which values they enact for their users. The study is primarily based on ten semi-structured interviews conducted with older adults who were offered a wash toilet as an element in the welfare service of a large Danish municipality. The study shows how, in various ways, specific aspects of wash toilet systems are associated with specific aspects of human physiology. Essential challenges to older adults that implicate the use of wash toilet systems either relate to 'arms that cannot reach behind', or the leakage of urine and eventually faeces. Furthermore the study shows that values enacted by wash toilet systems differ in the various arrangements, e.g., enabling social relations, being a part of something, being self-reliant or independent, preserving intimacy limits, or just 'be pleased with'. The wash toilet systems are woven into several different arrangements of the ageing body, wheelchairs, walkers, care personnel, spouses, diapers, etc. being situated in differently spaced bathrooms in different homes and different municipalities. We propose that the abandonment of focus on abstract policy values in favour of an emphasis on the actual arrangements of technology and the human body in old age will, in fact, be beneficial to our understanding of how welfare technology can contribute to enhanced citizenship. An implication of this study for rehabilitation is not to take for granted how a wash toilet system will interact in arrangements with older adults, but attend to the potentially various/many ways the system can create value for the user in the actual arrangement it is part of. Another implication of the study is that it is always an empirical question whether self-reliance – which is often an aim of implementing assistive technologies - is an effect of a specific arrangement of a wash toilet system and the human body in old age. The purpose of this research is to comprehend the learning of group vocal arrangements including their forms and stages for the environment of arts and culture teachers at junior high school in Buleleng Regency and Denpasar City through making related learning videos. The research method used is qualitative and quantitative, with data collection techniques through interviews, observation, document study, discography, and questionnaire. The theory used is the theory of analysis of the form and structure of the song and the theory of function. Primary data sources were obtained from interviews, observations, and discography (VCD). Secondary data was obtained from books, journals, and internet materials. The results showed that by providing material for Balinese folk songs arrangement in group vocals at the level of junior high school teachers in Buleleng Regency and Denpasar City through a video learning process, students' interest in learning music arrangement increased and allowed them to practice directly conveying the results of the arrangement in group vowel form.

URBAN geography , *MUNICIPAL government , *COLLECTIVE action , *BROKERS , *RHYTHM - Abstract
This intervention is by a collective of scholars working on various facets of urbanisation in Asia. Focusing on the notion of arrangements/re‐arrangements, it seeks to extend the consideration of urban politics as a matter of surges, a provisional consolidation of intensities, inhabitants and their practices, affiliations and orientations that give rise to continuously mutating forms of sense, care, and collective action. Whereas the work and effects of institutions, with their genealogies, remits, and competencies, are to a large extent specifiable according to their operating norms and the various regulatory frameworks that govern their operations, the dispositions of arrangements – what they do, what they actually bring about – are not readily definable or clear, enacting a form of performative ambiguity. Involving workarounds, collaborations, exchanges, and agreements that exceed the familiar protocols of interaction among households, local authorities, markets, civil institutions, brokers, and service providers, arrangements entail the enactment of caring, provisioning, regulating, mapping, and steering as the purview of more provisional, incessantly mutating forms that fold in bits and pieces of discernible institutions. In this heuristic intervention we seek to further the 'urbanisation' of urban geography itself, in the sense of complexifying both the terrain and the methodological practices brought to bear. It attempts to open a way of speaking about urbanisation processes that exceed binary formulations, countervailing scales, or structural absences to encompass a broader range of processes at work in shaping dispositions that are materialised or simply potentiated. It proceeds from a process of collective composition whose objective is to diversify the working tools of urban analysis rather than simply offering new conceptual formulations. The third movement explores how (re)arrangements are made and re‐worked as people navigate fractured, ever‐shifting landscapes of urban opportunity, conflict and uncertainty. Drawing on fieldwork in Paris, Mogadishu and Abidjan, we point to the fragile, collective and anticipatory knowledges accumulated during navigations, and to how these knowledges become contained within and (re)constitute embodied archives. AFFECT (Psychology) ,SENSES - Abstract
This final movement explores whether thinking with re‐arrangements can help us account for that which is hidden, unseen or nested in the recesses and folds of urban practices. And if so, how we might then talk about and account for elusive parts of an arrangement that both exert an influence and are influenced. This essay uses sensibilities as an entry point into the intangible interactions between subjects and (re)arrangements. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

EVERYDAY life ,SYNCHRONIC order - Abstract
The fourth movement explores the temporal relationship between arrangements and re‐arrangements, addressing the question of how an obdurate and 'sticky' temporal order may give way to palpable re‐arrangement of the ways in which subjects experience time. Eschewing a concern with linear homogenous time, it addresses the processes of re‐arrangement by understanding the dynamics of grave events, hauntings of the past, subtly changing rhythms of everyday life, and the force of potential futures in synchrony. This movement introduces the ethos of the collective project: its conceptual and practical preoccupations. It focuses on our concern with urban processes on the cusp of change, in the midst of being re‐arranged, and thus homes in on the various polyrhythms of intersections, how things come together and diverge, how possibilities open and close in urban contexts of continuously shifting horizons.

- Abstract
The ideal concept of regulating regional head elections to realize regional autonomy in Indonesia, namely the Concept of Election of Provincial Governors as Intermediary Units, democratically elected indirectly by the Regional People's Legislative Council (DPRD) on the basis of the consideration that the Pancasila precepts 4 (four) of Populist Led by Wisdom of Wisdom in Deliberation/Representation, Article 18 paragraph (4) of the 1945 Constitution and Law Number 23 of 2014 concerning Regional Government stipulates that the Governor has a dual function, namely as the head of a provincial autonomous region and as a representative of the central government. The Governor must serve as the representative of the central government in the regions as a deconcentration function, the province only serves as a coordinating center for the regions so that it does not directly serve the needs of the community when compared to the scope of the Basic Units or Districts/Cities. Results, this study was compiled using a normative jurisprudence model, namely research on the application of positive law principles or standards. This study aims to examine and analyze the concept of regulating regional head elections that are ideal for realizing regional autonomy in Indonesia. In conclusion, the ideal concept of regulating regional head elections to realize regional autonomy in Indonesia, namely the Change in the Concept of Election of Regional Governors as Intermediary Units, is elected indirectly democratically by the Regional People's Representative Council. Through the analysis of arrangements made to the Law of Preferential School Subsidy (2008) by private schools subsidized by the Chilean state, this contribution focuses on the repertoires of action of the pro-equity policy. Indeed, the circumvention of the non-selection and free schooling measures concerning disadvantaged students that we observed (2012-2015) calls into question the contractual approach as a lever for the engagement of educational actors in the fight against school exclusion. The article attempts to highlight the implementation of a governance by “accommodation” favoring the acceptability of institutional constraints by private education providers in Chile.

AFFECT (Psychology) , *VIOLENCE , *LATIN American literature - Abstract
This introductory article sets out to review the applicability and productivity of affect as a high-impact concept in the humanities. With a particular focus on a cultural studies perspective, it evaluates the different strands in affect theory and surveys the most recent approaches in the field. The authors argue for adopting a relational approach, focusing on specific formations or "affective arrangements", which considers affect as a site of convergence of different actors, discourses, media, etc. instead of an isolated process. The second section of the article provides a short overview of the study of violence in Latin Americanist scholarship and underscores the relevance of affective arrangements when studying the multiplicity of violences in cultural expressions from the region. ELECTRIC circuits , *ALGORITHMS - Abstract
The main idea of this work is based on the question: how can we control the electric circuits between a number of electric bulbs and a number of electric sources. This idea generates the correspondences between two discrete sets. The correspondence is based on the notion of discrete function and repetitive arrangements. The normal construction and notions of the work are introduced gradually and are detailed at every stage. Our constant endeavor has been to ensure that every sentence in the work has a logical position. Here appears many questions: how to construct all discrete functions, which is the total number of these functions, which is the relation between the number of bulbs and the number of sources, can we construct and control only a partial number of electric circuits (by direct access method) etc. The work answers all these questions by specially algorithms: the construction algorithm and the decomposition algorithm. The algorithms use the rule from left to right to construct all possible discrete functions and, hence, all electric circuits. The decomposition algorithm supplies an access direct method. So we can control any part of the whole set of circuits. A lot of notions and specific notations are used to develop and illustrate the work. For combinations we have to show the construction elements. A lot of examples explain this important notion. The work contains a lot of numerical examples and applications. The last section of the work deals with the bijective (and invertible) functions. Specialized notions and notations are used. Numerical examples and geometric designs illustrate the theory. This article aims to explore the various possibilities for the operas arrangements for chamber ensembles preserved in selected monastic localities as a remarkable subgenre, which flourished from the end of the 18th century until the middle of the 19th century. Important music collections of monasteries in Moravia and Lower Austria were selected for the research, specifically: Nová Říše (formerly Neureisch, Premonstratensians), Klosterneuburg (Augustinian Canons), Göttweig (Benedictines) and Zwettl (Cistercians). By comparing the situation in different monasteries, it was possible to look at the issue in a broader geographic context, which reflects the customs and possibilities of neighbouring regions within the Habsburg Monarchy. The objectives were: 1) to create arrangements of the song entitled Sai Wa Si BoThim Kan for a choir and an orchestra; 2) to analyze the choral arrangement of the song; and 3) to analyze the orchestral arrangement. The research has created a combination of Isan country music and classical music, resulting in “Isan classical music” in another dimension. It is the unique style of Isan country music that enhances aesthetics and creates value for Isan country songs, with a combination of folk culture with universal culture. With regard to the choral arrangement of the song, all 4 types of the musical texture for orchestration are employed, namely, melody and accompaniment, two-part writing, four-part writing, and contrapuntal texture. In terms of the orchestral arrangement of the song, all 4 types of the musical textures for orchestration are used: melody and accompaniment, secondary melody, four-part writing, and contrapuntal texture.

We consider the problem of computing Shapley values for points in the plane, where each point is interpreted as a player, and the value of a coalition is defined by the area or the perimeter of usual geometric objects, such as the convex hull or the minimum axis-parallel bounding box. For sets of n points in the plane, we show how to compute in roughly O (n 3 / 2) time the Shapley values for the area of the minimum axis-parallel bounding box and the area of the union of the rectangles spanned by the origin and the input points. When the points form an increasing or decreasing chain, the running time can be improved to near-linear. In all these cases, we use linearity of the Shapley values and algebraic methods. We also show that Shapley values for the area and the perimeter of the convex hull can be computed in O (n 2) time, while for the minimum enclosing disk it takes O (n 3) time. These problems are closely related to the model of stochastic point sets considered in computational geometry, but here we have to consider random insertion orders of the points instead of a probabilistic existence of points. We present a novel representation of solid models for shape design. Like Constructive Solid Geometry (CSG), the solid shape is constructed from a set of halfspaces without the need for an explicit boundary structure. Instead of using Boolean expressions as in CSG, the shape is defined by sparsely placed samples on the boundary of each halfspace. This representation, called Boundary-Sampled Halfspaces (BSH), affords greater agility and expressiveness than CSG while simplifying the reverse engineering process. We discuss theoretical properties of the representation and present practical algorithms for boundary extraction and conversion from other representations. Our algorithms are demonstrated on both 2D and 3D examples. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Purpose This paper aims to draw attention to an urgent need for reform of the regulatory framework of the broader export credit system to ensure a new and comprehensive “safe haven” for officially supported export credits. The purpose is to analyse the complex debate on disciplines of the World Trade Organization (WTO) and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), creating a point of reference for future analysis of and debates around the “carve-out clause” of the Agreement on Subsidies and Countervailing Measures (ASCM) and a “safe haven” in a broader sense. Design/methodology/approach This paper takes inspiration from legal, economic and political science literature on subsidies and officially supported export credits, as well as on legal documents related to the WTO and the OECD. It examines the WTO subsidy and the OECD export credits framework, focusing on main legal and economic governance aspects. Then, it gives a critical analysis how “safe” a “safe haven” in a broader sense might be, assessing frictions of and solutions for the fundamentally different set of disciplines, limitations, financial instruments not covered by OECD regulations, as well as new challenges related to climate finance. Findings After assessing the challenges regarding the “carve-out clause” of the WTO subsidy framework and two tracks aiming to create a new “safe haven”, requirements for comprehensive disciplines for officially supported export credits are pointed out. Furthermore, several misunderstandings and mistakes appearing in the debate are clarified. Research limitations/implications Desktop research rather than empirical field work. Practical implications This paper creates awareness for governments and exporters how to deal with a complex system of interrelated disciplines. The question, how “safe” a “safe haven” in a broader sense can be, has not been resolved yet. Some authors focus on the WTO disciplines not taking into account the need for an effective matching procedure of the Arrangement on Officially Supported Export Credits (the Arrangement). Furthermore, the introduction of several new pre-export financing programmes and the growing significance of climate finance-related instruments for export credit agencies creates both opportunities and challenges. This paper can serve as a reference point for the academic debate and further research. This paper also offers newcomers to the topic a comprehensive overview. Originality/value Although the “carve-out clause” and the Arrangement have been much discussed, there is limited literature review structuring both existing and new aspects of the debate, assessing (dis)advantages of arguments and interpretations. This paper both adds to the corpus of literature about the ASCM, as well as the Arrangement, and takes this corpus as the object of its analysis.

The second movement considers (re)arrangements as projects of formalization that seek to impose and even fix a form to spaces historically constructed as marginal. This impositional arrangement operates as a governmental desire to fix a form by re-signifying both subjects and spaces.

The fourth movement explores the temporal relationship between arrangements and re-arrangements, addressing the question of how an obdurate and 'sticky' temporal order may give way to palpable re-arrangement of the ways in which subjects experience time. Eschewing a concern with linear homogenous time, it addresses the processes of re-arrangement by understanding the dynamics of grave events, hauntings of the past, subtly changing rhythms of everyday life, and the force of potential futures in synchrony.

This movement introduces the ethos of the collective project: its conceptual and practical preoccupations. It focuses on our concern with urban processes on the cusp of change, in the midst of being re-arranged, and thus homes in on the various polyrhythms of intersections, how things come together and diverge, how possibilities open and close in urban contexts of continuously shifting horizons.

- Subjects

This final movement explores whether thinking with re-arrangements can help us account for that which is hidden, unseen or nested in the recesses and folds of urban practices. And if so, how we might then talk about and account for elusive parts of an arrangement that both exert an influence and are influenced. This essay uses sensibilities as an entry point into the intangible interactions between subjects and (re)arrangements.

In 1816, Beethoven and Steiner agreed on a publishing contract that was at the time unique in the history of music publication. They decided to issue three of Beethoven’s newest orchestral works—Wellington’s Victory, and the Seventh and Eighth Symphonies, opp. 91–93—in arrangements for various combinations of chamber group, simultaneously, and concurrent with the original orchestral edition, which was issued in parts and full score. I discuss how and why this particular enterprise came about, and how it represents circumstances of the time. I then consider how, why, and to whom Steiner marketed the new musical wares. And I set this joint venture within a larger context, to suggest how the study of musical arrangements offers us a unique window on the development of Viennese musical culture in the early nineteenth century, especially as it concerns women.

HYPERCUBES , *PROBABILITY density function - Abstract
Let T = { ▵ 1 , ... , ▵ n } be a set of n triangles in R 3 with pairwise-disjoint interiors, and let B be a convex polytope in R 3 with a constant number of faces. For each i, let C i = ▵ i ⊕ r i B denote the Minkowski sum of ▵ i with a copy of B scaled by r i > 0 . We show that if the scaling factors r 1 , ... , r n are chosen randomly then the expected complexity of the union of C 1 , ... , C n is O (n 2 + ε) , for any ε > 0 ; the constant of proportionality depends on ε and on the complexity of B. The worst-case bound can be Θ (n 3) . We also consider a special case of this problem in which T is a set of points in R 3 and B is a unit cube in R 3 , i.e., each C i is a cube of side-length 2 r i . We show that if the scaling factors are chosen randomly then the expected complexity of the union of the cubes is O (n log 2 n) , and it improves to O (n log n) if the scaling factors are chosen randomly from a "well-behaved" probability density function (pdf). We also extend the latter results to higher dimensions. For any fixed odd value of d > 3 , we show that the expected complexity of the union of the hypercubes is O (n ⌊ d / 2 ⌋ log n) and the bound improves to O (n ⌊ d / 2 ⌋) if the scaling factors are chosen from a "well-behaved" pdf. The worst-case bounds are Θ (n 2) in R 3 , and Θ (n ⌈ d / 2 ⌉) in higher odd dimensions. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

This article presents a new approach for engine room design based on the modularization concept including the part arrangement optimization. The characteristics of the proposed methods are as follows. First, attention was paid to piping systems of multiple bulk carrier series of different sizes. The cost and length of the piping system as well as the similarity and the commonness of the modules and arrangements were considered. Second, to define an effective module that could be commonly used in different ships, a design structure matrix was adopted. Third, in the arrangement design, an optimization system was developed using a genetic algorithm to obtain a similar pattern for module arrangement in multiple series ships with specific consideration toward cost and similarity. Some examples using the proposed method are shown at the end of article. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract The clay was modified by an ion exchange reaction with cetylpyridinium chloride CPC and hexadecyltrimethylammonium bromide HDTMA. The modified samples were studied by X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The basal spacing of unmodified clay determined by XRD was 12.72 Å and, after modification, increased with increasing concentration; expressed as a function of the cation exchange capacity (CEC) of the clay; to reach 21.08 and 26 Å for clays modified with CPC and HDTMA successively for an equal concentration of 3CEC. FTIR studies revealed structural differences between modified and unmodified clay samples. Modified clay spectra showed C–N functional bands (1480 cm−1) and C–H vibrations (near 2936 and 2871 cm−1). The results of the SEM study reveal a difference between natural and modified clays. The purified clay has massive and curved plates. However, the modified clays show numerous small aggregate particles and plaques that become relatively flat. The arrangement of surfactants in clay is rather complicated. It depends on the nature of the surfactant molecules, the CEC of the clay and the method of preparation. According to these parameters, the inserted surfactants may be arranged in monolayer, paraffinic or admicelles structures.

In recent years, the learning and teaching of combinatorics presents particular educational research interest from the primary up to higher education levels. The combinatorial problems constitute a valuable opportunity for mathematical exploration, as combinatorics is a branch of mathematics with many applications, providing a complex network of connections with many areas of mathematics. The studies which examine the development of combinatorial thinking to preschoolers are limited. The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of a microworld in the development of combinatorial thinking of kindergarten children. Specifically, the research concerns the production of arrangements two by two, three by two and four by two, from sets of discrete objects in the context of a digital microworld and embedded in a game and narrative context. The research findings show that the designed microworld comprises a developmentally appropriate learning environment for the meaningful learning and the development of combinatorial thinking by the preschoolers. The participants' interaction with the microworld showed that the children can understand the concept of arrangement in a simulated concrete situation and that they can produce possible arrangements with various ability levels. A strong relation was revealed between the ability level of arrangements production of the children and their ability to pay attention to and interpret the feedback available in the microworld. Arrangements of geometric objects refer to the spatial partitions formed by the objects, and they serve as an underlining structure of motion design, analysis, and planning in CAD/CAM, robotics, molecular modeling, manufacturing, and computer-assisted radio-surgery. Arrangements are especially useful to collision detection, which is a key task in various applications such as computer animation, virtual reality, computer games, robotics, CAD/CAM, and computational physics. Ellipsoids are commonly used as bounding volumes in approximating complex geometric objects in collision detection. In this article, we present an in-depth study on the arrangements formed by two ellipsoids. Specifically, we present a classification of these arrangements and propose an efficient algorithm for determining the arrangement formed by any particular pair of ellipsoids. A stratification diagram is also established to show the connections among all the arrangements formed by two ellipsoids. Our results, for the first time, elucidate all possible relative positions between two arbitrary ellipsoids and provide an efficient and robust algorithm for determining the relative position of any two given ellipsoids, therefore providing the necessary foundation for developing practical and trustworthy methods for processing ellipsoids for collision analysis or simulation in various applications. CAPITAL gains ,BANDS (Musical groups) - Abstract
Marching and indoor concert bands have used music from the classical European repertory for many years. The benefits and drawbacks of such usage are numerous. One of the benefits of marching band transcriptions is a wider dissemination of cultural capital to more diverse audiences. To explore the implications of marching band transcriptions of orchestral music, this study compared and contrasted Scheherazade by Rimsky-Korsakov and the 2004 and 2014 Santa Clara Vanguard performances of the work. Both the arrangements of Rimsky- Korsakov's Scheherazade exemplify both the drawbacks and benefits of orchestral appropriation. Variations in musical content, visual content, performance venue, and audience makeup, contributed to varying audience perceptions and interpretations. These changes are ways music can be used to evoke different responses from the audience. The use of orchestral music for the marching band is a benefit to both students and audience members, including both DCI audience members as well as Friday night football crowds. The often substantial changes made in adapting symphonic works to DCI ensembles or high school marching bands combined with the overt visual presentation can change the intended program if any, and audience understanding of the work. Let $X$ be a topological space. We consider certain generalized configuration spaces of points on $X$ , obtained from the cartesian product $X^{n}$ by removing some intersections of diagonals. We give a systematic framework for studying the cohomology of such spaces using what we call 'twisted commutative dg algebra models' for the cochains on $X$. Suppose that $X$ is a 'nice' topological space, $R$ is any commutative ring, $H_{c}^{\bullet }(X,R)\rightarrow H^{\bullet }(X,R)$ is the zero map, and that $H_{c}^{\bullet }(X,R)$ is a projective $R$ -module. We prove that the compact support cohomology of any generalized configuration space of points on $X$ depends only on the graded $R$ -module $H_{c}^{\bullet }(X,R)$. This generalizes a theorem of Arabia. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
