In this study, green synthesis of ZnO nanoparticles and single crystals were successfully prepared from Phoenix Dactylifera.L leaves extract. Effect of 0.01-0.6M zinc acetate concentration on the nanoparticles and single crystals ZnO formation was studied. UVVis, FT-IR spectrophotometer, X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and EDAX techniques are used for this purpose. UV-Vis absorption spectra exhibited a maximum absorbance plate at 350nm related to the zinc oxide. Optical band gaps values of the ZnO products were closely equal to the bulk one. FT-IR spectra display a feeble peak at 593 and 674cm-1, which are accredited to ZnO vibration. XRD showed a good crystalline quality of the ZnO product with very well defined highest peaks intensities along (002), (100), (101) indexing the hexagonal structure (wurtzite). Deduced grain sizes of the synthesized ZnO nanoparticles were in the range of 19.77-26.28nm. SEM showed that the green synthesizing nanoparticles contain sometimes micro single ZnO crystals. As a result, use of Phoenix Dactylifera. L leaves extract offers a low cost and kindly environmentally nanoparticles synthesizing process. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Carbon nanofillers in general and graphene in particular are considered as promising potential candidates in catalysis due to their two-dimensional (2D) nature, zero bandwidth, single atom thickness with a promising high surface area: volume ratio. Additionally, graphene oxide via result of tunable electrical properties has also been developed as a catalytic support for metal and metal oxide nanofillers. Moreover, the possession of higher chemical stability followed by ultrahigh thermal conductivity plays a prominent role in promoting higher reinforcement of catalytically active sites. In this review we have started with an overview of carbon nanofillers as catalyst support, their main characteristics and applications for their use in heterogeneous catalysis. The review article also critically focusses on the catalytic properties originating from both functional groups as well as doping. An in-depth literature on the various reaction catalysed by metal oxide based nanoparticles supported on GO/rGO has also been incorporated with a special focus on the overall catalytic efficiency with respect to graphene contribution. Herein, we present a novel approach for the synthesis of ZnO nanoparticles (ZnO NPs) using a non-thermal plasma source generated by the gliding arc discharge-air system. The effect of discharge time on the physical and optical properties, as well as the photocatalytic performance of the as-fabricated ZnO NPs, was investigated. The characterization techniques revealed that the as-synthesized ZnO exhibit hexagonal Wurtzite structure, with a wide energy gap and peak intensities of UV-vis absorption with longer discharge times. A decrease in particle size from 29 to 25 nm was also observed with increasing discharge time, while all samples were thermally stable between 25 and 700 °C. The photocatalytic performance of the ZnO NPs was evaluated by degrading Congo Red (CR) dye with a concentration of 20 ppm under sunlight at a dose of 1 mg/mL. The as-synthesized ZnO NPs revealed exceptional photocatalytic performance by degrading ~ 97% of CR dye after irradiation for 150 min. This work presents an easy and simple method for synthesizing NPs in a short time and pave the way for other potential ideas on the application of plasma gliding arc discharge., (© 2024.
