Purpose: Individuals with chronic neck pain (CNP) walk with a stiffer spine known to cause an increase in dynamic loading on the spine. They also exhibit altered spatiotemporal gait variables, however, it is still unclear whether flat cushioning insole, which reduces dynamic loading on the musculoskeletal system by absorbing the ground reaction force, affects gait parameters in individuals with CNP. The aim of this work was to investigate the effects of flat cushioning insole on neck pain during walking and gait parameters in individuals with CNP. Methods: Twenty-one individuals with CNP and 21 asymptomatic controls were included. Assessments of gait parameters and pain were conducted in two sessions, standard shoe only and standard shoe with flat cushioning. In both sessions, all participants performed the 10-meter walk test in two walking conditions: preferred walking, walking at maximum speed. The force sensitive insoles and the video analysis method were used to assess plantar pressure variables and spatiotemporal gait variables, respectively. Pain was assessed using the Visual Analogue Scale. Results: Our results indicated that flat cushioning reduced the maximum force and force-time integral in both groups (p < 0.05). Flat cushioning increased walking speed and step length in both walking conditions and reduced neck pain during walking at maximum speed in individuals with CNP (p < 0.05). In asymptomatic individuals, no difference was found in spatiotemporal gait variables between two sessions (p > 0.05). Conclusions: These results have suggested that the use of flat cushioning insole may improve neck pain during walking and spatiotemporal gait variables in individuals with CNP.

Purpose: The aim was to compare gait speed, step length, cadence and gait stability ratio (GSR) between individuals with chronic idiopathic neck pain (CINP) and no-pain controls and investigate the relationship of disability with spatiotemporal gait variables and GSR in individuals with CINP.Methods: Twenty-five individuals with CINP (17 females, 8 males) and 25 no-pain controls (17 females, 8 males) recruited into this study. AIM: To compare the deformity correction success of segmental pedicle screw and hybrid instrumentation for the treatment of Lenke type-1 adolescent idiopathic scoliosis (AIS) curves.

Purpose: We aimed to investigate the possible effects of three dimensional Schroth exercises combined with brace treatment on balance control in patients with adolescent idiopathic scoliosis (AIS).Methods: Total of 20 volunteers participated in the study. Participants divided equally into two groups as a study group (patients with AIS) and an age-matched healthy control group that comprised of 10 participants each. Conservative treatment protocol consisted of brace treatment and Schroth exercises. The individuals in the study group wore full time rigid braces (Modified-Cheneau) 23 hours per day and performed individually designed Schroth exercises. The exercise treatment comprised 3 sessions per week with duration of 90 minutes each and a total of 18 sessions. Objectives: We evaluated the relationship between functional objective and patient-based subjective assessments and quality of life in patients with lumbar spinal stenosis (LSS).Methods: Thirty patients (25 females, 5 males; mean age 62±9 years; range 41-78 years) were prospectively studied. All were diagnosed as having LSS by clinical and radiological evaluations. Pain was assessed by a visual analog scale. The patients were evaluated by two-staged treadmill exercise tolerance (TET) test, SF-36 health status survey, and Oswestry Disability Index (ODI).
