The rapid development in the information technology field has introduced digital watermark technologies as a solution to prevent unauthorized copying and redistribution of data. This article introduces a self-embedded image verification and integrity scheme. The images are firstly split into dedicated segments of the same block sizes. Then, different Analytic Beta-Wavelet (ABW) orthogonal filters are utilized for embedding a self-segment watermark for image segment using a predefined method. ABW orthogonal filter coefficients are estimated to improve image reconstruction under different block sizes. We conduct a comparative study comparing the watermarked images using three kinds of ABW filters for block sizes 64 × 64, 128 × 128, and 256 × 256. We embed the watermark using the ABW-based image watermarking method in the 2-level middle frequency sub-bands of the ABW digital image coefficients. The imperceptibility and robustness of the ABW-based image watermarking method image is evaluated based on the Peak Signal to Noise Ratio (PSNR) and Correlation coefficient values. From the implementation results, we came to know that this ABW-based image watermarking method can withstand many image manipulations compared to other existing methods. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Single crystals of SrFe1.40V0.60O4, strontium tetraoxidodi[ferrate(III)/vanadate(III)], have been obtained as a side product in the course of sinter experiments aimed at the synthesis of double perovskites in the system SrO–Fe2O3–V2O5. The crystal structure can be characterized by layers of six-membered rings of TO4-tetrahedra (T: FeIII, VIII) perpendicular to [100]. Stacking of the layers along [100] results in a three-dimensional framework enclosing tunnel-like cavities in which SrII cations are incorporated for charge compensation. The sequence of directedness of up (U) and down (D) pointing vertices of neighboring tetrahedra in a single six-membered ring is UUUDDD. The topology of the tetrahedral framework belongs to the zeolite-type ABW.

Physical work environments are the place where ideas emerge. As ideas are a prerequisite for innovation, many companies are trying to create ideal conditions for their employees by using activity-based workspaces (ABWs). Nevertheless, some employees reject this office concept, whereas the reasons of this resistance are unknown. Therefore, this study investigates the barriers of employees to the acceptance of ABWs. For this purpose, we interviewed 60 employees at an industrial company who had just moved to an ABW or who are about to move and asked them about the acceptance of the new physical work environment. Our findings show that the major barriers occur in the application of desk sharing (e.g. importance of fixed workplaces), cultural change (e.g. fear of desocialization) and new leadership styles (e.g. strict management control). Through this study, we clearly identify the barriers employees build when implementing an ABW and derive implications for research and companies. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

- Abstract
En integrerad modell för chefer som leder hybridarbete föreslås som förenar de paradoxala r, Teleworking during the COVID-19-pandemic speeded up the digital transformation of work and the shift towards increased hybrid work. When full time work at a physical office is challenged as a norm, space efficient and flexible office solutions, for example activity-based working, can become more attractive to employers. Organisations of today are therefore managing two trends at the same time, on the one hand how to shape hybrid work in the “new normal” of today’s work life, on the other hand how to design future office solutions. Managers leading hybrid work need to balance work in the office with teleworking parallel with guidelines from the organisation and employees’ individual preferences. Hybrid work can entail inherent contradictions, paradoxes, to managers. The purpose of this study is to gain knowledge on how managers in the public sector lead and manage challenges with hybrid work in an activity-based office. A qualitative case study has been conducted through 14 semi-structured interviews with managers in one of Sweden’s largest municipalities, in which both hybrid work and activity-based working have been implemented after the pandemic. A theoretical model on paradoxical frameworks in hybrid work is in this study applied on managers leading employees in hybrid work. Using five paradoxical frameworks, work-life, remoteness-closeness, formal-informal, information-communication and control-trust, the study investigates how managers handle inherent contradictions in hybrid work through three different cognitive processes, integration, differentiation and polarisation. The study, shows that managers who lead hybrid work handle contradictions differently in each of the paradoxical frameworks. The results also showed connections between the paradoxical frameworks. The conclusion is that managers make balanced trade-offs between multiple paradoxical frameworks within the framework of the organisation’s guidelines for hybrid work and employees’ preferences. 15. Mining frequent patterns to identify vertical handover parameters in cellular networks.

- Abstract
The heterogeneous environment of cellular networks imposed the need for finding different vertical handover (VHO) mechanisms. VHO algorithms are presented in literature with different input parameters for various services related to different quality of service (QoS) classes (conversational, streaming, interactive and background), such as: cost, available bandwidth (ABW), MT speed, received signal strength (RSS), etc. These parameters are suggested by researchers or experts based on simulation analysis. Furthermore, the concept of identifying the effective parameters for VHO has not been widely studied. For this purpose, we proposed a new approach to extract the effective parameters and their priorities by using data mining (DM). Since voice call service is one of the most sensitive delay services, we collected real log data from servers of two mobile telecom companies in Lebanon, Touch and Alfa for Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM) and Universal Mobile Telecommunications System (UMTS) networks. After preprocessing and discretizing the data, the log file was then summarized and the frequent patterns (FP) were extracted. In this research, two new algorithms were designed. The first, is the Data Summarization Algorithm (DaSA) to summarize the preprocessed data. The second, is the Frequent Pattern Calculation Algorithm (FPCA) to find the frequency of the simultaneous occurrence of the obtained parameters. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

AFO ,ABW ,activity-based working ,behaviour ,flexible work ,management ,open-plan office - Abstract
This longitudinal study examines the impact of office type on employees’ perception of managers’ leadership behaviours, which is an unexplored area. The expanding research related to activity-based flexible offices (AFOs) has mainly focused on employees’ working conditions and health outcomes, not on the changes in leadership behaviours when moving from traditional offices to AFOs. Office workers (n = 261) from five office sites within a large Swedish government agency were included in a controlled study of a natural intervention. At four sites, traditional offices were replaced by AFOs, while workers at one site with no relocation acted as the control. The same employees rated different leadership behaviours in a web-based questionnaire at baseline and at one follow-up. The analyses showed that relocations from cell and open-plan offices to AFOs were clearly related to a decrease in the perception of relation-oriented leadership behaviours. However, coming from open-plan offices to AFOs also decreased the perception of the other leadership dimensions. As expected, the control group was stable over time in their perceptions. This emphasises the need for organisations to provide managers with prerequisites so they can keep up with behaviours that support employees’ performance and health when office designs and ways of working are changed.

The workspace must be designed in such a way, that as many employees as possible can perform their task assignments on equal terms. Organizations in today’s society choose to cut the proportion of private offices in order to be cost-effective. Consequently, they replace private offices with open office landscapes – where the most common design is called activity-based office landscape. Purpose The purpose of this study is to describe and to analyze how the psychosocial work environment is affected by activity-based office landscapes. By Swedish law, organizations are obligated to offer their employees a good work environment. The aim of the study is to contribute with increased knowledge about how the activity-based office landscape affects the psychosocial work environment for employees. Method The study has used a qualitative method to answer the question at issue. Furthermore, seven semi-structed interviews were conducted to collect the data. Conclusion The result of the study demonstrates challenges for the psychosocial work environment brought by activity-based workspace, ABW. It can be stated that the connection between coworkers is benefited, however, increased visibility, less efficiency and lack of space have led to an increased stress for employees. The activity-based workspace has been deteriorated for those employees who have concentration-demanding work tasks and for those who are in need of larger office space with more work tools. On the other hand, the office design is better suited for those with more flexible work tasks and those who benefit from being able to vary office space based on their work task. It can also be stated that the well-being in an activity-based workspace is largely dependent on personalities, as the experience is characterized by the employees’ personal preferences. It can therefore be stated that the psychosocial work environment is affected by the work in an activitybased workspace.

- Abstract

The need for seamless mobility within the heterogeneous environment of cellular networks imposed the need for finding different vertical handover (VHO) mechanisms to select the best network. The selection process is based on different factors, such as: cost, battery status of Mobile Terminal (MT), the capacity of each network link, available bandwidth (ABW), received signal strength (RSS), etc. However, the major problem here is to find the most effective parameters for VHO and their priorities for these decision mechanisms. Besides, it would be useful to know the values of these parameters for data mining (DM). For this purpose, we collected real log data server of two mobile telecom companies in Lebanon, Touch and Alfa for Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM) and Universal Mobile Telecommunications System (UMTS) networks. After preprocessing and discretizing the data, frequent patterns (FP) were extracted to summarize the log data files. The summarized data was then analyzed by using descriptive and visualization techniques in order to find the most effective parameters for handover (HO) process. Three effective parameters were obtained: the Received Signal Strength (RxLev/RSCP), the Available Bandwidth (ABW) and the Received Signal Quality (RxQual/EcNo). Results showed that they cooperatively work together to accomplish the same task. This paper provide an effective solution to identify the most valuable factors for vertical handover mechanism in telecommunication area by using frequent pattern mining. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

- Abstract
Introduction Privacy fit is a frequently reported issue in open office environments, yet its context, predictors and consequences remain understudied. Theory This study builds on Altman’s (1975) privacy regulation model and the cognitive appraisal theory as a transactional model of stress to examine the effect of an office move (and associated changes in settings, protocols and autonomy) on changes in privacy fit, privacy-related coping appraisal, as well as changes in satisfaction and fatigue. Methods Data was collected over two points of measurement from 61 office workers who moved from a standard open-plan office to an office that is activity based. The first questionnaire was distributed six weeks prior to the office move and the follow-up questionnaire approximately eight months after. With its longitudinal design, this study extends past research by demonstrating the changing nature of privacy fit and revealing predictors of change in privacy fit and coping appraisal. Results Cross-lagged autoregression analysis of change confirmed suggested predictors such as increase in variety of settings and in adherence of others to protocols that positively influenced post-move privacy fit. Further, change in coping appraisal post move was predicted by an increase in perceived environmental and behavioural flexibility. Changes in privacy fit and appraisal were associated with increases in job and workplace satisfaction and decreases in emotional and mental work fatigue post move. Originality/Value Results could inform physical workplace design as well as cultural interventions in organisations. To our knowledge, this is the first study investigating the psychological process of privacy experience by using a transactional model of stress.

- Abstract
The work environment in Activity-based working (ABW) should be adapted based on the needs and activities that the business requires. Employees lack their own place and are expected to move depending on the task. The working method entails flexibility for both the organization and the employees. The development of digitalization in society has contributed to why ABW has become increasingly popular. Implementation procedure is perceived to influence the outcome and acceptance of the working method. The expectations with ABW are that strengthened self-leadership and increased responsibility will promote productivity and efficiency. This study has a qualitative approach and aims to identify factors that influence the design and implementation of ABW in a public organization. With the help of an abductive approach, the results of the study have emerged. The empirical material was collected through three semi-structured interviews and an online survey. Each of the respondents were involved in the transformation process and the implementation of ABW at “Framtidens arbetsplats” in Skellefteå municipality. The study intends to provide a deeper explanation regarding which factors have been prominent and what effects they have led to. The previous research in the subject contributed to the direction of the study and resulted in three main areas: The transformation process, design and custom-built as well as management and control. The empirical material was analyzed and compared against the theoretical frame of reference. The results show that the respondents' experience of ABW varied, but with a predominantly positive response. ABW was implemented to streamline the use of premises, but that was not communicated to the employees. Participation has been expressed as an important factor throughout the process, but it can also be perceived as involuntary and that the concept is forced on the employees. The working method is adapted to the modern mobile generation and can be seen, Aktivitetsbaserat arbetssätt (ABW) bygger på att arbetsmiljön är anpassad utifrån de behov och aktiviteter som verksamheten kräver.

PurposeThe purpose of this study was to examine the effect of an office move (and associated changes in settings, protocols and autonomy) on changes in privacy fit, privacy-related coping appraisal as well as changes in satisfaction and fatigue. The study builds on Altman’s (1975) privacy regulation model and the cognitive appraisal theory as a transactional model of stress.Design/methodology/approachData was collected over two points of measurement from 61 office workers who moved from a standard open-plan office to an office that is activity based. The first questionnaire was distributed six weeks prior to the office move and the follow-up questionnaire approximately eight months after. With its longitudinal design, this study extends past research by demonstrating the changing nature of privacy fit and revealing predictors of change in privacy fit and coping appraisal.FindingsCross-lagged autoregression analysis of change confirmed suggested predictors such as increase in variety of settings and in adherence of others to protocols that positively influenced post-move privacy fit. Further, change in coping appraisal post move was predicted by an increase in perceived environmental and behavioural flexibility. Changes in privacy fit and appraisal were associated with increases in job and workplace satisfaction and decreases in emotional and mental work fatigue post move.Originality/valueResults could inform physical workplace design as well as cultural interventions in organisations. To the best of authors’ knowledge, this is the first study investigating the psychological process of privacy experience by using a transactional model of stress.

Analysis and applications of coupled cross-shaped resonator (CCSR) for fixed and fully reconfigurable differential bandpass filters (BPFs) design are focused in this paper. CCSRs with open and capacitive terminations are presented and discussed. One differential BPF named Filter I centered at 4.5 GHz with fixed differential-mode (DM) and common-mode (CM) responses using CCSR with open termination; and another one named Filter II using capacitive termination and loaded lumped capacitors offers fully reconfigurable DM center frequency, bandwidth and intuitive CM suppression control are proposed with very compact size (0.01λ02). Such that ultra-wide DM center frequency tuning range of 82% fractional tuning range with both constant absolute bandwidth (ABW) and constant fractional bandwidth (FBW), easy control of CM suppression level and rejected range are achieved, respectively. Their experimental characterizations are in good agreement with theoretical analysis validating a simple approach of fixed and fully reconfigurable differential BPFs design. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

- Abstract
As work life is evolving due to globalization and digitalization so are office spaces, new circumstances acquire new more flexible ways of working. There has been an increase in offices changing from the traditional cellular office to open and activity-based landscapes. Activity - based workplaces or ABW are designed to adapt to working needs and are said to be flexible where employees themselves can choose seating depending on their preferences and task at hand. While ABW seems to have certain benefits including cutting cost of unnecessary workspace and increased flexibility we are looking to understand the effects ABW has on social interactions & coherence. We are also interested in finding out what strategies the employees use to handle the new way of working and maintain efficiency. Research this far has shown that the architectural disposition of the office space needs to be equipped with distinct rules and regulations, that productivity has shown to increase after a move to a ABW and that the pre-conditions for employee satisfaction are present. The study is of a qualitative nature and is based on semi-structured interviews with five employees in an government organisation. Each of the employees has different occupational roles within the organisation. The theoretical framework used to analyze the results are parts of Goffman’s (2014) Dramaturgical Perspective and the results found show both pros and cons for an activity based approach. The study shows that social interactions to a large extent are regulated by the architectural disposition of the office, that coherence with the other government organisations in the building has somewhat improved and that the employees use both physical and digital strategies of guiding impression to let their colleagues know that they do not wish to be disturbed and can maintain efficiency. The results also show that the employees carefully choose their work station for the day in an attempt to control the number of soci, Arbetslivet är i en ständigt förändring och med den ökade globaliseringen och digitaliseringen följer krav för ett mer flexibelt och tilltalande kontorslandskap.

- Abstract
Dessu, An activity-based workplace is an office solution that uses different zones, where employees are free to choose in which zone they want to work at based on their work. The workplace is seen more as a meeting place where employees can easily interact with each other. Vasakronan is one of the first real estate companies in Sweden to implement ABW and digitize its real estate services. The purpose of this case study is to investigate Vasakronan's internal experience of implementing its activity-based office, also their experience of marketing their ABW to potential stakeholders. The study method consists of material collection from Vasakronan's website and previousscientific articles and theories, video interviews with five respondents from Vasakronan and a study visit at Vasakronan's Malmö office. Based on the answers to our questions and the connection to the theory section, we see a connection between ABW and open spaces, where employees feel happier and more efficient by sitting and working together. However, there are also disadvantages such as noise disturbances, no fixed places and impaired concentration ability that some employees may experience. Vasakronan has, at an early stage, worked with communication to inform their employees about ongoing changes in the workplace, and to promote education courses on leadership and independence, workshops and lectures to minimize the risks of dissatisfaction.Vasakronan conveys its message about ABW to external stakeholders by inviting throughstudy visits and giving customers the opportunity to experience how such an office solution looks like in reality. By including the stakeholder in the marketing process and offering advice, rather than sales, Vasakronan has established a customer relationship based on trust and credibility. According to the respondents, stakeholders who have been at Vasakronan spread the concept through word of mouth. In addition, Vasakronan is signaled as a modern workplace that leads the real estate

The activity-based office is a growing trend as more businesses and organizations are moving from the traditional office to an activity based. The activity-based office is usually divided into different zones, where employees do not have any allocated seats but chooses their location after the task at hand. Previous research has mainly focused on the organizational impact and employees’ perceptions of the activity-based office. In order to further develop the theoretical area, there is a need to also consider the impact on the leadership. By examining how the managers perceive the effects on their ability to lead, this study contributes to expand the knowledge on how the activity-based office is perceived by and affects managers in their role as leaders. Purpose: The purpose of this study is to examine if and how managers in their role as leaders experience that the implementation of an activity-based office has affected their ability to exercise leadership. The study focuses on the effect in two aspects: communication and motivation, from a manager’s perspective. Method: The study uses a qualitative research strategy with a deductive approach and is based on a case study of a real estate company. The empirical data has been collected through semi structured interviews and internal documents from the company. Conclusion: The activity-based office is perceived to have improved the managers’ ability to lead at the same time as it comes with some challenges. These challenges have been related to how the managers can lead the employees in their self-leadership and the establishment of the company’s guidelines, which was created for the change. The natural meetings that the acitivty-based office provides is perceived to promote leadership, communication and motivation, in that it allows managers to be more accessible and promotes collaboration within the organization.

- Abstract
Produktutvecklingsprocessen genomförs mer tvärfunktionellt mellan funktionerna vid implementering av aktivitetsbaserat kontor, ABW., In recent years, companies have tried to design their office environments into one that calls for more communication both within and between different functions in the product development process. As the product development process transforms a product from idea to launch, it is considered a significant challenge to integrate the functions involved with each other. As a result, many companies have implemented activity-based offices. By applying this, companies expect communication to increase and, in turn, have a positive impact on the product development process. However, research is controversial as to how activity-based affects the process. The purpose of this study is to study how communication looks at activity-based offices and how collaboration is affected between functions during the product development process. The study was carried out by initially conducting a literature study to gain an increased understanding of the field. Subsequently, a qualitative semi-structured interview survey was conducted with four respondents from two different companies. Both companies have implemented activity-based offices and are working on product development processes. The study shows that in the implementation of activity-based offices, informal meetings have increased in frequency and collaboration between functions. The physical distance between team members has increased, which has led to less face-to-face interaction and more use of digital tools. When the team is not co-located, more structure is required, which has been a positive development. The product development process is worked more cross-functionally between the functions when implementing an activity-based workplace, ABW

- Abstract
The thesis examines the concept of the activity-based workplace in relation to different professions. The activity-based workplace is a type of working environment, designed to help the employees execute their tasks in a setting dovetailed for this specific task. Presumably, different work tasks demand different prerequisites and consequently, different professions have different needs. The thesis aims to fill an empirical gap and answer the following research question: How do different professions view the activity-based workplace and does it fit some professions better than others? The thesis is a qualitative study based on interviews with five different groups of professions (business, HR, IT, communication and management). The study shows that there are no evident distinctive differences between how the different professions perceive the activity-based workplace. Consequently, it is not possible to find that any of the five professions are better suited for it. The perceptions rather seem to be based on individual preferences. However, some tasks seem to fit the activity-based workplace better than others: administrative tasks, telephone calls, agile work, formal meetings, individual work, meetings and tasks that require help from outside of the team. It is important to acknowledge that the sample size is too small to draw any general conclusions regarding the professions. Therefore, our study should be considered an example of how the perceptions can differ between the five chosen professions. This study can be considered valuable for the management of a company, since it shows how different employees within different professions perceive the activity-based workplace.

Abstract: Background: Actual body weight (ABW) is important for accurate drug dosing in emergency settings. Oftentimes, patients are unable to stand to be weighed accurately or clearly state their most recent weight. Objective: Develop a bedside method to estimate ABW using simple anthropometric measurements. Methods: Prospective, blinded, cross-sectional convenience sampling of adult Emergency Department (ED) patients. A multiple linear regression equation from Derivation Phase (n = 208: 121 males, 87 females) found abdominal and thigh circumferences (AC and TC) had the best fit and an inter-rater correlation of 0.99 and 0.96, respectively: Male ABW (kg) = −47.8 + 0.78 ∗ (AC) + 1.06 ∗ (TC); Female ABW = −40.2 + 0.47 ∗ (AC) + 1.30 ∗ (TC). Results: Derivation phase: Number of patients (%) with a body weight estimation (BWE) > 10 kg from ABW for males/females were: 7 (6%)/1 (1%) for Patients, 46 (38%)/28 (32%) for Doctors, 38 (31%)/24 (27%) for Nurses, 75 (62%)/43 (49%) for 70 kg/60 kg convention, and 14 (12%)/8 (9%) using the anthropometric regression model. For validation phase (55 males, 44 females): Gold standard ABW mean (SD) male/female = 83.6 kg (14.3)/71.5 kg (18.9) vs. anthropometric regression model = 86.3 kg (14.7)/73.3 kg (15.1). R2 = 0.89, p < 0.001. The number (%) for males/females with a BWE > 10 kg using the anthropometric regression model = 8 (15%)/11 (27%). Conclusions: For male patients, a regression model using supine thigh and abdominal circumference measurements seems to provide a useful and more accurate alternative to physician, nurse, or standard 70-kg male conventional estimates, but was less accurate for use in female patients. Radioactive molten salt generated from a pyrochemical process to separate reusable U and TRU elements is one of problematic wastes to manage for a final disposal. For the minimization of final waste, it is desirable to selectively remove radionuclides from the waste salts. In this paper, structural change of some zeolites in a series of molten salt systems and its removal behavior of CsCl was investigated. Zeolite-4A(LTA) was transformed into LiAlSiO4 and Li-sodalite with the mol-fraction of LiCl in LiCl–KCl system at 650 °C while it was not changed in NaCl–KCl at 750 °C, regardless of mol-fraction of metal chloride. Other commercial zeolite with specific structure (FAU) had the same trends on the structural stability in molten salt system. From the Cs removal experiments, the decomposed zeolitic materials in molten salt lost their removal ability of Cs. In conclusion, a new selective material or method should be investigated or developed for obtaining the validity on the separation of group I and II radionuclides from a molten waste salt because the zeolite 4A is unstable in the LiCl system and it also showed a low capacity in the LiCl–KCl phase. This paper gives basic information on the removal of radionuclides from molten systems by using zeolitic materials. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract: Nanosecond scale classical molecular dynamics simulations of the behaviour of the one-dimensional water molecule chains adsorbed in zeolite Li-ABW, a lithium containing zeolite, were performed at different temperatures, both for the fully hydrated material, where diffusion of water is not present, and for the partially hydrated material, where diffusion occurs. The structure and the vibrational spectrum of fully hydrated Li-ABW were in agreement both with experimental data and Car-Parrinello molecular dynamics results. Classical molecular dynamics simulations were extended to the nanosecond time scale in order to study the flip motion of water molecules around their bisectors and the dehydration mechanism at high temperature. Based on the results of the simulations, it may be suggested that the dehydration proceeds by stepwise single-file diffusion. The diffusive mechanism appears as a single-file motion: the molecules never pass one another, even at temperatures as high as about 800K, nor can switch between different channels. If the mean square displacements (MSDs) are evaluated with respect to the centre of mass of the molecules hosted in each channel, the expected dependence on the square root of time appears. The results are compared with those obtained for bikitaite, another Li containing zeolites showing a similar structure. Finally, the behaviour of Li cations at different temperature and hydration is discussed. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]

Li-zeolites were successfully synthesized in a one-step sol–gel process and microwave technique using silatrane and alumatrane as precursors and lithium hydroxide as the hydrolytic agent. Many types of Li-zeolites were obtained by controlling synthesis parameters. Perfect crystalline zeolite, EDI type zeolite, was obtained at 90 °C after heating for 60 min while ABW type zeolite was produced after heating for 300 min at 110 °C. With increasing temperature, a higher packing density product was generated. Changing Si/Al loading ratio highly influenced the morphology of the synthesized product. With increasing Al loading, more irregular morphology products were obtained. Changing Li2O/SiO2 ratio, led to changes in the unit cell structure and crystal morphology. Lowering the Li2O/SiO2 ratio to one produced FAU type zeolite at 110 °C for 240 min. The thermal stability of EDI and ABW were very low while that of FAU was higher which might come from the effect of low ring strain construction of FAU. [Copyright &y& Elsevier]

In recent years, companies have tried to design their office environments into one that calls for more communication both within and between different functions in the product development process.

Introduction: The activity-based office is a growing trend as more businesses and organizations are moving from the traditional office to an activity based.

- Abstract
The nature of work life and its formation have undergone major changes in recent decades. Activity-based working (ABW) is today one of the most popular working methods, where different office zones give employees the opportunity to control how and where to work. Earlier studies in the area of ABW suggests positive organizational effects, however research is limited since the working method only recently gained popularity. The purpose of this study is therefore to examine how employees perceived efficiency and social room for manoeuvre are affected in an activity-based environment. In order to achieve this a case study was carried out where observations and qualitative interviews together formed the conclusions and analyzes that were made. The result of this survey shows a positive attitude from the employees to the activity-based approach since the model creates a perceived increased efficiency. Together with the social approach that the architectural aspect of ABW offers, employees get the tools to influence and to a certain extent also control the social aspects of their work., Arbetets natur och dess utformning har genomgått stora förändringar de senaste årtiondena.

- Abstract
Background: In recent years, there has been a reported increase in organizations relocating to Activity-based Flexible Offices (A-FOs) worldwide. The idea of A-FOs is to offer work conditions suitable for the workforce’s tasks and individual preferences. Benefits of the A-FO include employee autonomy, privacy and inter- and intra-team communication. However, there are reports within Swedish media on reduced performance, increased dissatisfaction, injustice, and workplace avoidance amongst employees occupying A-FOs. Added to which empirical research supporting A-FOs claimed benefits are scarce with inconsistent results. Aim: The aim of this thesis is to explore and investigate perceptions of workspace, work conditions, work environment satisfaction, and perceived performance in A-FOs (aim of Studies I-V). Additionally, the sub-aims are to explore and investigate associations with underlying factors such as design and implementation process factors including methods suggestions (aims of Studies II, IV & VI), physical workspace factors (aim of Study III), desk-sharing and speech policies (aim of Study IV), and organizational preconditions (aim of Study V). This thesis aims at integrating the contributions of each paper and making the whole greater than the sum of its parts. Method: A problem centered, pragmatic approach guided the methodological choices. Two in-depth longitudinal case (n=66 & 46) and two cross-sectional (n=202 & 105) studies were conducted at five single floor A-FOs. A mixed method approach was adopted comprising of six questionnaires, 105 individual interviews, documentation of plan layouts, photographs, planning documents and observations. A third cross-sectional study with 7 additional cases was conducted on 473-715 questionnaire responses. Results & discussion: The results showed that work environment satisfaction and perceived performance can increase after relocation to A-FOs.

The problem that occurs is the increase in the area for oil palm plantation development has been limited. One alternative way that can be done is the utilization of neglected marginal land for example peatlands. This research was carried out on the dangku crossing landscape in lowland areas or 5 m above sea level. The results show FFB and ABW have no significant effect on the regression and correlation values at the level of 0.05. The effect of significant difference was shown by the results of average bunch weight (ABW) in T1 treatment, namely the dose of N <1 Kg and P <1.5 Kg which had the highest average compared to T2 and T3 treatments. In addition, fertilizer doses affect plant conditions and visual conditions of plant leaves. The average condition at the location of the planting year which observed normality of the plant was more than 75% with green leaf conditions around 80%. Based on this, it can be explained that fertilizer doses have a good effect on plants in the Sembilang dangku landscape in terms of ABW and plant conditions.

- Abstract
Purpose: With the vast changes in the work life comes changes in the office design. One of the newest on the market is ABW (Activity Based Workplace), were the employees themselves chooses were to sit in the office depending on what fits them best according to the moment. This thesis contributes with knowledge that is necessary for an organisation to know before they begin using an ABW. The goal is to evaluate how an efficient ABW-environment is created. An ABW are efficient when the workplace concept works the way it is supposed to do and with that provides good results from the recourses that are available. This thesis addresses the implementation of the transition to an ABW from a traditional office type and how the office design could look from evidence-based results. Method: The main strategy for this thesis is a case study that involves the organisation NCC. That is because the evidence-based design is based on their workforce and their office building. The thesis goal is achieved through four different data collection methods: literature study, interview, observation and guidance form an architect. These methods were chosen to gather both qualitative and quantitatively data. Findings: The findings are divided into three areas: the first question of issue presents the different office types performances, there are both advantages and disadvantages with all office types. The advantages that can be found in these office types is for instance the cell offices privacy, the open landscapes interaction possibilities and that the kombi office retain the social environment whilst still give privacy from other employees. Whereas availability and flexibility are the most significant advantage of an ABW. Some disadvantages are how cell offices can be unwelcoming, the open landscapes noise level and the fact that you can not work in teams in a kombi office. The second finding is the evidence-based office design proposal, from an efficiency point of view. A collocation of
