The innovative nanocomposites (NCs) of antibacterial and antitumor 2-amino-5-S-benzyl-1, 3, 4-thiadiazole (ABMT): binary (NC1): ABMT-clay as well as the ternary (NC2): ABMT-clay-chitosan have been prepared following the top-down approach method. The ABMT molecules have been efficiently uploaded on the inorganic polymer potassium montmorlinite clay polymer (MMT). The NC is homogenously dispersed in the aqueous solutions without crystallization of ABMT. However, the dispersity of the small particle size and the crystallinity of NC1 is greatly enhanced in the presence of the biopolymer chitosan. The nanocomposites showed good non linear optical activity with suitable band gaps indicated the electron confinement in the NC. The loading and entrapment efficiency of ABMT onto MMT reached 89.3% in NC1 during 6 h of contact time with the aqueous solution of pH 6.8. The enhanced redox characteristics of NC1 relative to that of MMT suggested the better biological (antibacterial and antitumor) activity of NC1. Chitosan enhanced the redox and the optical properties of NC1 and its ability to undergo intercharge transfer to any acceptor sites. Hence, chitosan may added synergestic electron donation and, hence antitumor activity to the binary NC1.

The superdeformed rotational bands (SDRB’s) of axial symmetric Tl odd-A nuclei are described within the framework of the suggested model as an extended version of Bohr-Moltelson (BM) model. The suggested model has three parameters rather than the BM model’s two parameters. The model is employed to calculated the transition energies and therefore the unknown level spins within the three pairs of signature partners 191Tl (SD1, SD2), 193Tl (SD1, SD2) and 195Tl (SD1, SD2). The optimized model parameters and therefore the unknown spins for every band are adjusted by employing a computer simulated search program to induce a minimum root mean square deviation between the calculated theoretical and experimental transition energies Eγ (I). The most effective adopted model parameters and spins are wont to calculate the kinematic J (1) and dynamic J (2) moments of inertia, and rotational frequency ħω,. The calculated results agree excellently with the experimental ones. The behaviour of J (1) and J (2) with ħω is examined and discussed. Also, the calculated transition energies and spins are accustomed investigate and exhibit the ΔI = 1 staggering effects in transition energies between each pair of the signature partners. This can be done by considering three staggering indices looking on the dipole γ-transitions between the 2 bands of the signature partners and therefore the quadrupole γ-transitions within each band. All the studied three signature partner pairs showed an oversized amplitude staggering pattern. The ΔI = 1 energy staggering also appears within the transition energies after subtracting a rigid rotor reference when plotted versus spin. The phenomenon of identical bands (IB’s) is additionally investigated within the two pairs [193Tl (SD1), 195Tl (SD1)] and [193Tl (SD2), 195Tl (SD2)] by using the concept of incremental alignment.

Different concentrations of nickel oxide (NiO) nanoparticles were successfully inserted into polystyrene (PS) polymer matrix using the solution casting method. X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR), high-resolution scanning electron microscope (SEM), and UV-Vis techniques are used to characterize the nanocomposites. XRD, SEM, and FT-IR results indicate that PS and NiO nanoparticles have a good interaction and a high degree of complexity. Using UV–Vis technique, the absorbance of nanocomposites is improved by increasing the nanofiller content. Both the Urbach energy (EU) and the optical energy gap (Eg) were calculated using the Urbach relation and the Tauc model. Refractive indices values of nanocomposites display raising trend with NiO content which promote PS/NiO nanocomposites for use in photonic applications and designing optical devices. Nanocomposites' electrical conductivity was also investigated. The electrical conductivity of the nanocomposites has increased significantly due to the uniform dispersion of NiO nanoparticles and by increasing its content. Conduction is achieved by correlated barrier hopping (CBH).

We study the effect of temperatures and salt concentrations (two different points) on the physico-chemical and cytotoxicity properties of the core–shell magnetic–plasmonicnanoparticles functionalized with chitosan. This nano-composite core–shell has been produced through a green, facile, one-pot method using the fungal species Fuzarium oxyporium. The protocol of synthesis has been recorded as a patent in the Egyptian Academy of Science with no:2209/2017. We have proved the involvement of chitosan present in the fungal cell wall in the process of biosynthesis in addition to the decoration of the outer most layer of the nanocomposite by the chitosan functional groups. Characterization of the nanoparticles under selected conditions was performed by UV/visible, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM), and the dynamic light scattering (DLS). Furthermore, the cytotoxicity of the biosynthesized nanoparticles has been investigated for four different cell lines to identify the best condition for the biomedical applications. The data reveals that the 80 °C and the higher iron salt concentration yield the least particle size ∼ 0.2, and least cytotoxicity 6% against liver cancer cell line and zero against other studied cell lines, additionally, it shows the best physico-chemical properties.

The crystallization kinetics of Ge10Se(90−x)Tlx (x = 20, 30 and 40 at. %) chalcogenide glasses have been intensively studied using non-isothermal differential thermal analysis DTA. Various models were applied to determine the average values of activation energies for the glass transition Eg and crystallization Ec processes as a function of the glass transition temperature Tg, onset crystallization temperature Tc and peak crystallization temperature Tp with heating rate α and Tl content. The values of Eg and Ec were found to be dependent on both of the heating rate and system composition. In Accordance with Avrami exponent n, the crystallization mechanism in the compositions Ge10Se70Tl20 and Ge10Se60Tl30 is three dimensional growth, while in Ge10Se50Tl40 is two dimensional nucleation growth. Thermal characteristics of the investigated ternary glass alloy such as fragility Fg, stability SP and glass formation ability GFA were also studied.

The current study is mainly concerned with the analysis and interpretation of the available aeromagnetic data using different advanced processing techniques, to map the subsurface structural framework and depth estimation of these structures of the Wadi Zeidun area, Central Eastern Desert. The visual inspection of the RTP aeromagnetic map defines a rapid change in the subsurface geologic conditions in the form of the lithological characters and tectonic inferences. The shallow sources can be separated from those of deeper causatives, using power spectrum transformation tool. Two methods for locating magnetic sources, Source Parameter Image and Analytical Signal to identifying the properties of their sources indicated that, the depth calculation from the used tools ranges between 900 and 3000 m as the average ranges. Also, the comparative study among the 2D magnetic modelling was established by two profiles constructing. The mapped basement tectonic map is affected by a set of faults trending mainly in the N-S, NE-SW, NW-SE and ENE-WSW direction. Chitosan and montmorillonite nanoparticles (MMT NPs) films are prepared using casting method with various weight percentage (10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70 wt%) of MMT NPs. XRD and FTIR-ATR studies have been conducted to investigate the structural changes for the prepared films. XRD and FTIR-ATR confirmed the existence of interaction between Chitosan and MMTNPs and changing in structure of prepared composite depending upon the percentage of the load MMTNPs in Chitosan. Moreover, the films of high MMT NPs doping are used for the iron adsorption process from ground water. The effect of PH, temperature, adsorbent dose and the initial concentration of adsorbant have been studied. Langumiur and Frendulich are applied to investigate the adsorption process. The adsorption process is aligned with Langumiur isotherm. Fe adsorption process matched with the pseudo first order kinetic Thermodynamics parameters of the adsorption process are calculated indicating that the adsorption process is spontaneous and endothermic. The percent weight ratio (40/60 wt%) chitosan/MMT NPs is found to be the best proper ratio for adsorption of iron which attained 89.2 % at the optimum conditions (1.5 g/L dose, pH 5.5 and 10 mg/L Fe after 210 min). HRSEM, EDX and FTIR-ATR before and after adsorption process was high evidence tools for confirming the adsorption.

Glass is a wonderful material that has found wide spread applications in different fields such as smart windows, a glass system doped with a rare earth oxide composed of 15 %SiO2+ (50-x)% TeO2 +1%Sm2O3 +34 % Mn3O4 + xTiO2, X = 0, 0.1, 0.2, 0.3, 0.4 mol% was prepared by melt quenching technique at 1423 K and examined by X-ray diffraction, FTIR,UV–vis spectroscopy and AC measurements. The dielectric constant, dielectric loss and the AC electrical conductivity was measured at frequencies 1 kHz, 10 kHz, and 100 kHz at temperature range from 303 to 523 K. The dielectric constant exhibit constant value up to 400 K then increase gradually up to 500 K while decreases with frequency increasing. The AC conductivities for samples with Ti concentrations (0 and 0.1) showed a constant value of conductivity at low temperature range followed by an increase in conductivity with increasing temperature. The samples with concentrations (0.2, 0.3 and 0.4) show after a certain limit of temperature decreasing in conductivity. This glass system showed sensitivity for most solar spectrum which is promising for smart windows applications in the new buildings

Rice is a staple cereal of India cultivated in about 43.5Mha area but with relatively low average productivity. Abiotic factors like drought, flood and salinity affect rice production adversely in more than 50% of this area. Breeding rice varieties with inbuilt tolerance to these stresses offers an economically viable and sustainable option to improve rice productivity. Availability of high quality reference genome sequence of rice, knowledge of exact position of genes/QTLs governing tolerance to abiotic stresses and availability of DNA markers linked to these traits has opened up opportunities for breeders to transfer the favorable alleles into widely grown rice varieties through marker-assisted backcross breeding (MABB). A large multi-institutional project, "From QTL to variety: marker-assisted breeding of abiotic stress tolerant rice varieties with major QTLs for drought, submergence and salt tolerance" was initiated in 2010 with funding support from Department of Biotechnology, Government of India, in collaboration with International Rice Research Institute, Philippines. The main focus of this project is to improve rice productivity in the fragile ecosystems of eastern, northeastern and southern part of the country, which bear the brunt of one or the other abiotic stresses frequently. Seven consistent QTLs for grain yield under drought, namely, qDTY1.1, qDTY2.1, qDTY2.2, qDTY3.1, qDTY3.2, qDTY9.1 and qDTY12.1 are being transferred into submergence tolerant versions of three high yielding mega rice varieties, Swarna-Sub1, Samba Mahsuri-Sub1 and IR 64-Sub1. To address the problem of complete submergence due to flash floods in the major river basins, the Sub1 gene is being transferred into ten highly popular locally adapted rice varieties namely, ADT 39, ADT 46, Bahadur, HUR 105, MTU 1075, Pooja, Pratikshya, Rajendra Mahsuri, Ranjit, and Sarjoo 52. Further, to address the problem of soil salinity, Saltol, a major QTL for salt tolerance is being transferred into seven popular locally adapted rice varieties, namely, ADT 45, CR 1009, Gayatri, MTU 1010, PR 114, Pusa 44 and Sarjoo 52. Genotypic background selection is being done after BC2F2 stage using an in-house designed 50K SNP chip on a set of twenty lines for each combination, identified with phenotypic similarity in the field to the recipient parent. Near-isogenic lines with more than 90% similarity to the recipient parent are now in advanced generation field trials. These climate smart varieties are expected to improve rice productivity in the adverse ecologies and contribute to the farmer's livelihood.

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the immunohistochemical detection of telomerase enzyme and estrogen receptor (ER) and progesterone receptor (PGR) in gestational trophoblastic neoplasia (GTN) and its clinical significance. Formalin-fixed paraffin blocks for 30 patients (24 with molar pregnancy, 3 with choriocarcinoma, and 3 with placental site trophoblastic tumor) as cases and six products of conception samples from patients with incomplete abortion as controls were included in the study. Immunohistochemical detection of the telomerase catalytic protein and ER and PGR was carried out using streptavidin-biotin-peroxidase method. All control tissues were negative for telomerase and ER expression, while five of six were PGR positive. Significant positive telomerase expression was detected in all gestational trophoblastic tumors (three of six partial moles, 12 of 18 complete moles, three of three choriocarcinomas, and two of three placental site trophoblastic tumors). Nine of 24 molar pregnancies were followed by GTN. Molar pregnancies followed by GTN were associated with higher serum beta-hCG (human chorionic gonadotrophic hormone), larger uterine size for gestational age, negative ER expression, negative PGR expression, and positive telomerase expression. All patients with molar pregnancy with negative telomerase expression (9 of 24) showed spontaneous regression after evacuation. Positive telomerase expression and its immunohistochemical detection are associated with the development of GTN. Negative telomerase expression is highly predictive of postmolar spontaneous regression. Patients with molar pregnancies with negative telomerase expression can be saved the long-term follow-up. ER and PGR expression do not show a significantly different pattern in molar tissues, while negative expression is associated with developing GTN. Cautions on the use of postmolar hormonal contraception may be unjustified.
