BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: The incidence of melanoma is increasing. This places significant burden on societies to provide efficient cancer care. The European Cancer Organisation recently published the essential requirements for quality melanoma care. The present study is aimed for the first time to roughly estimate the extent to which these requirements have been met in Europe. MATERIALS AND METHODS: A web-based survey of experts from melanoma centers in 27 European countries was conducted from 1 February to 1 August, 2019. Data on diagnostic techniques, surgical and medical treatment, organisation of cancer care and education were collected and correlated with national health and economic indicators and mortality-to-incidence ratio (MIR) as a surrogate for survival. Univariate linear regression analysis was performed to evaluate the correlations. SPSS software was used. Statistical significance was set at p < 0.05. RESULTS: The MIR was lower in countries with a high health expenditure per capita and with a higher numbers of general practitioners (GPs) and surgeons per million inhabitants. In these countries, GPs and dermatologists were involved in melanoma detection; high percentage of dermatologists used dermatoscopy and were involved in the follow-up of all melanoma stages; both medical oncologists and dermato-oncologists administered systemic treatments and patients had better access to sentinel lymph node biopsy and were treated within multidisciplinary tumour boards CONCLUSION: Based on these first estimates, the greater involvement of GPs in melanoma detection; the greater involvement of highly trained dermatologists in dermatoscopy, dermatosurgery, follow-up and the systemic treatment of melanoma; and the provision of ongoing dermato-oncology training for pathologists, surgeons, dermatologists and medical oncologists are necessary to provide an optimal melanoma care pathway. A comprehensive analysis of the melanoma care pathway based on clinical melanoma registries, will be needed to more accurately evaluate these first insights.

Background. Despite the efficacy of innovative treatments for metastatic melanoma, their high costs has led to disparities in cancer care among different European countries. We analysed the availability of these innovative therapies in Europeand estimated the number of patients without access to first-line recommended treatment per current guidelines of professional entities such as the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO), the European Organisation for Research and Treatment of Cancer (EORTC), the European Association of Dermato-Oncology (EADO), and European Dermatology Forum (EDF). Materials and methods Web-based online survey was conducted in 30 European countries with questions about the treatment schedules from 1st May 2015 to 1st May 2016: number of metastatic melanoma patients, registration and reimbursement of innovative medicines (updated data, as of 1st October 2016), percentage of patients treated and availability of clinical studies and compassionate-use programmes. Results The recommended BRAF inhibitor (BRAFi)+MEK inhibitor (MEKi) combination was both registered and fully reimbursed in 9/30 (30%) countries, and in 13/30 (43%) (all from Eastern Europe) not reimbursed. First-line immunotherapy with anti-PD1 antibodies was registered and fully reimbursed in 14/30 (47%) countries, while in 13/30 (43%) (all from Eastern Europe) not reimbursed. Aims and objectives: \ud The aim of the 2018 EAHP Survey on Medicines Shortages was to provide a clearer picture on the issue of medicines shortages, including the impact on hospital pharmacists' time, budgets and the effect on patient care. Methods: A survey was conducted by the EAHP, collecting information from European hospital pharmacists on the shortage situation in their respective countries. The survey ran from 19 March 2018 to 11 June 2018. Keele University, UK analysed and compared the results to those of the 2014 survey. \ud \ud Results: \ud There were 1666 responses to the 2018 survey, which represented a threefold increase from the 2014 survey which received 607 responses. Ninety per cent of respondents answered 'Yes' when asked if shortages of medicines are a current problem in delivering the best care to patients, while only 7% of respondents answered 'No', and 3% 'Unsure'.Problems with shortages of antimicrobials were most commonly reported (77% of respondents reporting this as an issue in 2018 vs 57% in 2014), followed by preventative medicines (43% in 2018 vs 20% in 2014) and anaesthetics (39% in 2018 vs 27% in 2014). Fifty-nine per cent of respondents have seen care delayed as a consequence of medication shortages, with cancellations of care (31% of respondents), medication errors (25% of respondents) and suboptimal treatment for patients (25% of respondents) also being frequently reported.Sixty-three per cent of respondents reported having had to pay a higher price to procure from alternate sources most of the time or always when there was a shortage of a medicine. \ud \ud Conclusions: \ud Medicines shortages is an increasing problem across Europe and is having an adverse impact on patient care. Medicines shortages are adding to hospital pharmacists' time pressures and have an adverse budgetary impact. More timely information about impending shortages and how long they will last is seen as necessary to help manage the problem.

A base of the free alternative nil-superalgebra of index 3 on one odd generator is constructed. In particular, its index of solvability is computed. We consider also the corresponding Grassmann algebra and show that the well-known Dorofeev's example of solvable non-nilpotent alternative algebra is its homomorphic image.

Quadratic alternative superalgebras are introduced and their super-identities and central functions on one odd generator are described. As a corollary, all multilinear skew-symmetric identities and central polynomials of octonions are classified.

A base of the universal multiplicative envelope of the free Malcev superalgebra ℳ on one odd generator is constructed. Some corollaries for skew-symmetric functions and central elements in free Malcev and free alternative algebras are obtained. Moreover, a base of the Poisson-Malcev superalgebra of ℳ is constructed. As a corollary, a set of elements that spans the free alternative superalgebra on one odd generator is obtained.

It is proved that every Malcev superalgebra generated by an odd element is special, that is, isomorphic to a subsuperalgebra of the commutator Malcev superalgebra A− for a certain alternative superalgebra A. As a corollary, it is shown that the kernel of the natural homomorphism of the free Malcev algebra Malc[X] of countable rank into the commutator Malcev algebra Alt[X]− of the corresponding free alternative algebra Alt[X], does not contain skew-symmetric multilinear elements. In other words, there are no skew-symmetric Malcev s-identities. Another corollary is speciality of the Malcev Grassmann algebra.

We examine two particular constructions that derive from a 2-group G=G(⋅) another 2-group G(*) for the case when G(⋅) is one of \(D_{2^{n}}\) , \(SD_{2^{n}}\) , \(Q_{2^{n}}\) . The constructions (cyclic and dihedral) have the property that x*y=x⋅y for exactly 3/4 of all pairs (x,y)∈G×G.

We establish a one-to-one correspondence between the irreducible finite degree partial representations of a group G and the (usual) irreducible representations of certain ideals of a groupoid algebra constructed from G. We derive a structural result about the irreducible partial representations on finite dimensional vector spaces and give the description “up to usual representations” of the irreducible partial representations of abelian groups of degrees ⩽4. We treat simultaneously irreducible and indecomposable partial representations.

A base of the Malcev Poisson superalgebra related with the free Malcev superalgebra on one odd generator is constructed. As a corollary, a pre-base, that is, a set of elements that spans the free alternative superalgebra on one odd generator is obtained.

We study Kuzmin’s conjecture on the index of nilpotency for the variety N il₅ of associative nil-algebras of degree 5. Due to Vaughan-Lee [11] the problem is reduced to that for k-generator N il₅-superalgebras, where k ≤ 5. We confirm Kuzmin’s conjecture for 2-generator superalgebras proving that they are nilpotent of degree 15.
