This research aims to explore the relationship between attitudes, satisfaction, happiness, and involvement and student learning outcomes based on gender and the undertaken study program (sport and non-sport) after the covid-19 pandemic. This research is a cross-sectional study. A total of 380 students in Indonesia participated in this study. The research results show that online learning on campus was perceived positively by students of both sports and non-sports study programs. There are no significant differences in the variables of student satisfaction, happiness, involvement, and learning achievements based on gender and study program. There is a significant relationship between satisfaction with online learning, life happiness, and involvement in lectures with learning outcomes. In addition, the satisfaction variable in online learning has a direct and indirect impact on student learning outcomes through the involvement variable. The happiness of life variable has a direct impact only on the involvement variable but not on the learning achievement variable. Abstract The composition and function of the intestinal microbiota are major determinants of human health and are strongly influenced by diet, antibiotic treatment, lifestyle and geography. Nevertheless, we currently have only little data on microbiomes of non-westernized communities. We assess the stool microbiota composition in 59 children aged 2–5 years from the Adadle district of Ethiopia, Somali Regional State. Here, milk and starch-rich food are predominant components of the local diet, where the inhabitants live a remote, traditional agropastoral lifestyle. Microbiota composition, function and the resistome were characterized by both 16S rRNA gene amplicon and shotgun metagenomic sequencing and compared to 1471 publicly available datasets from children living in traditional, transitional, and industrial communities with different subsistence strategies. Samples from the Adadle district are low in Bacteroidaceae, and Prevotellaceae, the main bacterial representatives in the feces of children living in industrialized and non-industrialized communities, respectively. In contrast, they had a higher relative abundance in Streptococcaceae, Bifidobacteriaceae and Erysipelatoclostridiaceae. Further, genes involved in degradation pathways of lactose, d-galactose and simple carbohydrates were enriched. Overall, our study revealed a unique composition of the fecal microbiota of these agropastoral children, highlighting the need to further characterize the fecal bacterial composition of human populations living different lifestyles.

The relevance of the study is due to the need for a conceptual analysis of the transformation of such a human phenomenon as conscience in the period of the XX-XXI centuries. In this regard, the purpose of this study is to determine the main features of the reflection of conscience in the public consciousness of the XX – XXI centuries and its key functional characteristics. The main scientific methods for studying the issue are basic general scientific methods of analysis, synthesis, induction, deduction, comparative, systematic, which allow a thorough approach to the presentation of the topic and create a structured picture of moral and ethical transformations. The article reveals the fundamental approaches to the interpretation of conscience in modern historiography. The results of the research can be actively used not only in modern philosophical science, as a substantiation of the main approaches to the interpretation of the actual perception of conscience, but also in related humanities to confirm historical, moral, ethical, psychological and other changes in the process of social evolution.

Background: African swine fever (ASF) is one of the most important diseases in pigs because of its effects on all ages and breeds. To date, the commercial vaccines and drugs for prevention of ASF are lacking in the market and the survival of ASFV in various environmental, farm and or feed matrices has allowed the virus to remain, and it may cause new outbreaks in the pig population. Besides biosecurity and animal husbandry management practices, the improvement of the host immune responses is critical to control, manage and prevent ASF. Aim: In this study, we investigated the protective role of β-glucan against ASFV infection using a porcine alveolar macrophage (PAM) model. Methods: The effects of β-glucan on cell proliferation were evaluated by using the 3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyltetrazolium bromide assay. The potential effects of β-glucan against a field ASFV strain isolated in Vietnam, were further examined by real-time PCR and hemadsorption assays. The IFN-α and IL-6 protein production induced by β-glucan was determined using a sandwich enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA). Results: Our results demonstrated that the β-glucan additive possessed an immune stimulus factor against ASFV. Specifically, protection of PAMs against ASFV infection in vitro was observed at 12 h (p < 0.05) at the tested doses (30 and 50 µg/ml) as induced by incubation with β-glucan for 2 h. These effects remained until 24 h after post-infection. Additionally, at high dose (50 µg/ml), pre-treatment with the β-glucan statistically increased the expression levels of IFNα and IL-6 when compared to un-treated groups or only ASFV infection. Rationale: 1,4‐Cyclohexanedicarboxylic acid and its esters are widely used as building blocks in the production of polymers and copolymers. The properties of such compounds directly depend on the ratio of cis‐ and trans‐isomers in the starting materials. The identification of such stereoisomers by mass spectrometry can be used for the analysis of complex reactions and pyrolysis mixtures. Methods: 1,4‐Cyclohexanedicarboxylic acid propyl, isopropyl, butyl, 2‐butyl, pentyl, 2‐pentyl, 4‐methylpentyl, heptyl, octyl, and nonyl esters were synthesized and analyzed by gas chromatography‐electron ionization mass spectrometry. The general fragmentation patterns of the synthesized compounds in electron ionization conditions were determined using high‐resolution mass spectrometry. The relative response factors for the isomers were established on the basis of NMR and GC–MS data. Results: Regardless of the structure of the alkyl groups, the EI mass spectra of cis‐ and trans‐dialkyl 1,4‐cyclohexanedicarboxylates differ very sharply. The stereoselectivity of fragmentation processes is due to the steric proximity of the substituents in the case of cis‐isomers. Elemental composition of all ions appearing in the mass spectra of the analytes under study was confirmed by high‐resolution mass spectrometry. Despite the perceptible differences in the EI mass spectra of the isomers their ionization efficiencies are close. Conclusions: The possibility of the unambiguous identification of stereoisomeric dialkyl cis and trans 1,4‐cyclohexanedicarboxylates on the basis of their EI mass spectra was shown. The differences in mass spectra of the isomers are due to the conformational rigidity of the considered monocyclic molecules, which ensures the unique stereoselectivity of the elimination of neutral molecules owing to the 1,3‐cis‐diaxial proximity effect. The underdevelopment of tourism infrastructure remains a critical barrier to the growth of the tourism sector in both the capital and regional areas. This article examines the concept and structure of tourism infrastructure, synthesizes methodological approaches for its evaluation, and identifies the strengths and limitations of these approaches. The study introduces a novel methodology for assessing the development of tourism infrastructure in the capital city. Based on the assessment, the city's regions are categorized into four levels of infrastructure development: high, above average, average, and below average. The findings highlight the key factors driving tourism development and the obstacles limiting infrastructure progress, while also proposing strategic directions for its enhancement. Achieving optimal levels of infrastructure provision is identified as a crucial condition for advancing the tourism sector. The development of tourism infrastructure should be prioritized in regional economic policy. In line with the state's "Concept for the Development of the Tourism Industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan for 2023–2029", this study emphasizes the need for a streamlined and precise classification of tourism infrastructure components based on a comprehensive framework. The evaluation is conducted using an integrated indicator that captures the development level of key elements: accommodation infrastructure, international event venues, and access to leisure and entertainment. Additionally, the article provides a comparative analysis of the current state of tourism infrastructure relative to the early stages of the capital's development and tracks the dynamics of tourism indicators from 2010 to 2024. Several interrelated challenges affecting infrastructure growth have been identified. Notably, the study reveals that hosting international events and forums has significantly boosted inbound tourism compared to regional averages in Kazakhstan, although it has also constrained the potential for tourism business growth in other regions. The practical insights derived from this study offer a comprehensive understanding of the state of tourism infrastructure in Astana, which can inform future research and policy development for tourism infrastructure in major urban areas. The honey bee Apis mellifera is exposed to a variety of biotic and abiotic stressors, such as the highly prevalent microsporidian parasite Nosema (Vairimorpha) ceranae and neonicotinoid insecticides. Both can affect honey bee physiology and microbial gut communities, eventually reducing its lifespan. They can also have a combined effect on the insect’s survival. The use of bacterial probiotics has been proposed to improve honey bee health, but their beneficial effect remains an open question. In the present study, western honey bees were experimentally infected with N. ceranae spores, chronically exposed to the neonicotinoid thiamethoxam, and/or supplied daily with the homofermentative bacterium Pediococcus acidilactici MA18/5M thought to improve the honey bees’ tolerance to the parasite. Deep shotgun metagenomic sequencing allowed the response of the gut microbiota to be investigated with a taxonomic resolution at the species level. All treatments induced significant changes in honey bee gut bacterial communities. Nosema ceranae infection increased the abundance of Proteus mirabilis, Frischella perrara, and Gilliamella apicola and reduced the abundance of Bifidobacterium asteroides, Fructobacillus fructosus, and Lactobacillus spp. Supplementation with P. acidilactici overturned some of these alterations, bringing back the abundance of some altered species close to the relative abundance found in the controls. Surprisingly, the exposure to thiamethoxam also restored the relative abundance of some species modulated by N. ceranae. This study shows that stressors and probiotics may have an antagonistic impact on honey bee gut bacterial communities and that P. acidilactici may have a protective effect against the dysbiosis induced by an infection with N. ceranae.

Rapid urbanization entails complex problems not only in cities, but also within urban agglomerations. In modern landscape science, the greatest problems are primarily related to the ecological state of urban ecosystems. In this context, the most important task of urbanism is the interdisciplinary study of urban infrastructure in relation to the well-being of inhabitants, with a focus on the sustainable development of urban agglomerations. The aim of this study is to conduct a theoretical analysis of interdisciplinary research on the interactions between humans and the urban environment in the context of intensive urbanization, as well as to be an empirical study of the relationship between the real ecological state of the city of Astana, based on the use of geographical, environmental, cartographic, statistical, sociological, and socio-psychological research methods, aimed at identifying the mental well-being of citizens in correlation with their consumed urban ecosystem services using an associative psychological experiment, socio-psychological survey, and GIS mapping. As a result of this study, the authors have determined that the research hypothesis 1 "Spatial representations of the city's geoecological state are interrelated with the mental well-being and satisfaction with urban ecosystem services of citizens depending on the area of residence" is confirmed. Additionally, a positive correlation has been noted among the key indicators and criteria of geoecological condition, mental well-being, and satisfaction with urban ecosystem services across different districts of the city. African swine fever (ASF) was officially reported in Vietnam in February 2019 and spread across the whole country, affecting all 63 provinces and cities.

Introduction: Leadership skills are described by the American College of Surgeons’ ATLS course as necessary to provide care for patients during resuscitations. However, leadership is a complex concept, and the tools used to assess the quality of leadership are poorly described, inadequately validated, and infrequently used. Despite its importance, dedicated leadership education is rarely part of physician training programs. The goals of this investigation were the following: 1. Describe how leadership and leadership style affect patient care; 2. Describe how effective leadership is measured; and 3. Describe how to train future physician leaders.Methods: We searched the PubMed database using the keywords “leadership” and then either “trauma” or “resuscitation” as title search terms, and an expert in emergency medicine and trauma then identified prospective observational and randomized controlled studies measuring leadership and teamwork quality. Study results were categorized as follows: 1) how leadership affects patient care; 2) which tools are available to measure leadership; and 3) methods to train physicians to become better leaders.Results: We included 16 relevant studies in this review. Overall, these studies showed that strong leadership improves processes of care in trauma resuscitation including speed and completion of the primary and secondary surveys. The optimal style and structure of leadership are influenced by patient characteristics and team composition. Directive leadership is most effective when Injury Severity Score (ISS) is high or teams are inexperienced, while empowering leadership is most effective when ISS is low or teams more experienced. Many scales were employed to measure leadership. The Leader Behavior Description Questionnaire (LBDQ) was the only scale used in more than one study. Seven studies described methods for training leaders. Leadership training programs included didactic teaching followed by simulations. Although programs differed in length, intensity, and training level of participants, all programs demonstrated improved team performance.Conclusion: Despite the relative paucity of literature on leadership in resuscitations, this review found leadership improves processes of care in trauma and can be enhanced through dedicated training. Future research is needed to validate leadership assessment scales, develop optimal training mechanisms, and demonstrate leadership’s effect on patient-level outcome. [West J Emerg Med. 2016;17(5)549-556.]

Abstract Background To study the association of radiation risk in the 2nd –3rd generations with polymorphisms in the genes CYP1A1, CYP2E1, GSTP1 and changes in the thyroid. Methods 5 polymorphic gene variants (rs1048943, rs4646421, rs2070676, rs3813867, rs1695) were studied in 399 people living in the East Kazakhstan region in this research. 248 people of the 2nd - 3rd generation lived in the territory with radiation exposure in Abai, Borodulikha areas, and 151 people the comparison group lived in Kurchum district without radiation exposure comparable in sex and age with control group. Results The results show that there is a significant association of rs1048943 in exposed and unexposed groups (p < 0.003), and the absence of association of rs4646421, rs2070676, rs3813867, rs1695 in the studied groups. The mean value of thyroxine in carriers of the AG + GG genotype of rs4646421 is significantly lower than in AA genotype carriers (p = 0.04); no significant changes were found in genotypes’ distribution with thyroid-stimulating hormone and anti-thyroid peroxidase indicators. Significant changes were in levels of anti-thyroid peroxidase between exposed and unexposed groups (p = 0.007). The thyroxine - thyroid-stimulating hormone levels were not significantly different in exposed and unexposed groups (p > 0.3). Conclusions This study demonstrated the association of rs1048943 polymorphism with living in the radiation zone in the 2nd and 3rd generations for the first time. Thyroxine levels decrease was identified in the 2nd and 3rd generation residents of the exposed area, as well as a significant increase of anti-thyroid peroxidase occurs in individuals of the 2nd and 3rd generation living in areas with radiation exposure.

Abstract Background Emergency Department (ED) are challenged by the increasing number of visits made by the heterogeneous population of elderly persons. This study aims to 1) compare chief complaints (triage categories) and level of priority; 2) to investigate their association with hospitalization after an ED visit; 3) to explore factors explaining the difference in hospitalization rates among community-dwelling older adults aged 65–84 vs 85+ years. Methods All ED visits of patients age 65 and over that occurred between 2005 and 2010 to the University of Lausanne Medical Center were analyzed. Associations of hospitalization with triage categories and level of priority using regressions were compared between the two age groups. Blinder-Oaxaca decomposition was performed to explore how much age-related differences in prevalence of priority level and triage categories contributed to predicted difference in hospitalization rates across the two age groups. Results Among 39′178 ED visits, 8′812 (22.5%) occurred in 85+ patients. This group had fewer high priority and more low priority conditions than the younger group. Older patients were more frequently triaged in “Trauma” (20.9 vs 15.0%) and “Home care impossible” (10.1% vs 4.2%) categories, and were more frequently hospitalized after their ED visit (69.1% vs 58.5%). Differences in prevalence of triage categories between the two age groups explained a quarter (26%) of the total age-related difference in hospitalization rates, whereas priority level did not play a role. Conclusions Prevalence of priority level and in triage categories differed across the two age groups but only triage categories contributed moderately to explaining the age-related difference in hospitalization rates after the ED visit. Indeed, most of this difference remained unexplained, suggesting that age itself, besides other unmeasured factors, may play a role in explaining the higher hospitalization rate in patients aged 85+ years.

Luminescent copper(I) complexes showing thermally activated delayed fluorescence (TADF) have developed to attractive emitter materials for organic light emitting diodes (OLEDs). Here, we study the brightly luminescent dimer Cu2Cl2(P∩N)2 (P∩N = diphenylphosphanyl-6-methyl-pyridine), which shows both TADF and phosphorescence at ambient temperature. A solution-processed OLED with a device structure ITO/PEDOT:PSS/PYD2: Cu2Cl2(P∩N)2/DPEPO (10 nm)/TPBi (40 nm)/LiF (1.2 nm)/Al (100 nm) shows warm white emission with moderate external quantum efficiency (EQE). Methods for EQE increase strategies are discussed.

Abstract Background Sepsis is defined as life-threatening organ dysfunction caused by a host response to infection. The quick SOFA (qSOFA) score has been recently proposed as a new bedside clinical score to identify patients with suspected infection at risk of complication (intensive care unit (ICU) admission, in-hospital mortality). The aim of this study was to measure the sensitivity of the qSOFA score, SIRS criteria and sepsis definitions to identify the most serious sepsis cases in the prehospital setting and at the emergency department (ED) triage. Methods We performed a retrospective study of all patients transported by emergency medical services (EMS) to the Lausanne University Hospital (CHUV) over twelve months. All patients with a suspected or proven infection after the ED workup were included. We retrospectively analysed the sensitivity of the qSOFA score (≥2 criteria), SIRS criteria (≥2 clinical criteria) and sepsis definition (SIRS criteria + one sign of organ dysfunction or hypoperfusion) in the pre-hospital setting and at the ED triage as predictors of ICU admission, ICU stay of ≥3 days and early (i.e. 48 h) mortality. No direct comparison between the three tools was attempted. Results Among 11,411 patients transported to the University hospital, 886 (7.8%) were included. In the pre-hospital setting, the sensitivity of qSOFA reached 36.3% for ICU admission, 17.4% for ICU stay of three days or more and 68.0% for 48 h mortality. The sensitivity of SIRS criteria reached 68.8% for ICU admission, 74.6% for ICU stay of three days or more and 64.0% for 48 h mortality. The sensitivity of sepsis definition did not reach 60% for any outcome. At ED triage, the sensitivity of qSOFA reached 31.2% for ICU admission, 30.5% for ICU stay of ≥3 days and 60.0% for mortality at 48 h. The sensitivity of SIRS criteria reached 58.8% for ICU admission, 57.6% for ICU stay of ≥3 days 80.0% for mortality at 48 h. The sensitivity of sepsis definition reached 60.0% for 48 h mortality. Discussion Incidence of sepsis in the ED among patients transported by ambulance was 3.8 percent. This rate, associated to the mortality of sepsis, confirms the necessity to dispose of a test to early identify those patients. Conclusion The sensitivity performance of all three tools was suboptimal. The qSOFA score, SIRS criteria and sepsis definition have low identification sensitivity in selecting septic patients in the pre-hospital setting or upon arrival in the ED at risk of complication.

Abstract Background Pelvic fractures are severe injuries with frequently associated multi-system trauma and a high mortality rate. The value of the pelvic fracture pattern for predicting transfusion requirements and mortality is not entirely clear. To address hemorrhage from pelvic injuries, the early application of pelvic binders is now recommended and arterial angio-embolization is widely used for controlling arterial bleeding. Our aim was to assess the association of the pelvic fracture pattern according to the Tile classification system with transfusion requirements and mortality rates, and to evaluate the correlation between the use of pelvic binders and arterial angio-embolization and the mortality of patients with pelvic fractures. Methods Single-center retrospective cohort study including all consecutive patients with a pelvic fracture from January 2008 to June 2015. All radiological fracture patterns were independently reviewed and grouped according to the Tile classification system. Data on patient demographics, use of pelvic binders and arterial angio-embolization, transfusion requirements and mortality were extracted from the institutional trauma registry and analyzed. Results The present study included 228 patients. Median patient age was 43.5 years and 68.9% were male. The two independent observers identified 105 Tile C (46.1%), 71 Tile B (31.1%) and 52 Tile A (22.8%) fractures, with substantial to almost perfect interobserver agreement (Kappa 0.70-0.83).
