Infectious and inflammatory processes in sutured soft tissue wounds are met in 3–22% of cases despite the strict following of aseptic and antiseptic rules, application of new antiseptic agents with high bactericidal effect as well as improved techniques for prevention and management of wound infection.Objective. To perform a comparative analysis on healing processes in sutured soft tissue wounds after surgical interventions in which purulent-necrotic processes have developed.Materials and methods. All patients were divided into two groups – main and control. Patients from the main group (n = 58) had vacuum drainage of subcutaneous tissues in sutured wounds after surgery from June 2019 till November 2021. Case-histories of 80 patients from the control group were analyzed retrospectively; the researchers assessed outcomes after surgical management. In these patients, drainage of subcutaneous tissues in sutured wounds after surgery for purulent-necrotic processes in soft tissues was done using the traditional flow-washing technique. Both studied groups were comparable in sex, age and co-morbidity.Results. In the control group, complications in the form of suppurated lesions were noted in 17 (17.5 %) patients. In 10 (12.5 %) patients with marginal skin necrosis, there was suture dehiscence. None of 58 patients from the main group in whom surgical wounds were treated with the technique of vacuum drainage developed by us had any purulent-septic complications. In all cases, wounds healed with the primary intention.Conclusion. The technique of vacuum drainage developed by us allowed to achieve better outcomes at the early postoperative period.

Introduction. The COVID-19 impact on hemostasis of stroke survivors with community-acquired pneumonia is an urgent problem. The aim of the study is to analyze the features of clinical and laboratory parameters in cerebral stroke combined with community-acquired pneumonia caused by the SARS-Co-V-2 virus. Materials and methods. The instrumental and laboratory examination results of 88 patients aged 73.0 (12.3) years in the acute period of stroke with community-acquired viral pneumonia symptoms were analyzed. The present study included 39.8 % (n=53) male and 60.2 % female (n=35) with duration of diagnosed infectious disease less than 7 days. The symptoms of cerebral stroke were compared with the results of laboratory testing of the hemostasis system, lipid metabolism, and the activity of the systemic inflammatory response. The severity of lung tissue damage and the outcomes of the diagnosed changes were assessed. Results. All patients had mild or moderate COVID-19. In 87.5 % (n=77) cases unspecified (40.2 %, n=31), cardioembolic (36.4 %, n=28), lacunar (3.9 %, n=3) and atherothrombotic (19.5 %, n=15) ischemic stroke subtype was diagnosed. Focal ischemia lesion in the left middle cerebral artery (LMCA) territory was detected in 45.6 % (n=35), in the right middle cerebral artery (RMCA) territory in 41.6 % (n=32). Manifestations of hemorrhagic stroke were noted in 12.5 % (n=11) with signs of parenchymal hemorrhage in 54.5 % (n=6), ventricular hemorrhage in 27.3 % (n=3), subarachnoid hemorrhages were noted in 18.2 % (n=2). The indicators of the coagulation system in terms of the number of platelets corresponded to 251.3 (90.7); the APTT value was in the range of 29.2 (26.7 33.0) (s); the INR parameter was 1.16 (1.05 1.25); the value of prothrombin ( %) corresponded to the value of 85.9(23.4). Conclusion. We do not observe the great disorders of haemostasis in the most acute period of the stroke. When combined with COVID-19 the most common stroke is ischemic stroke. The stroke survivors with the community-acquired pneumonia caused by SARS-CoV-2 laboratory tests show that increase of inflammatory markers are above the reference range.

Changes in cell metabolism accompany the development of a wide spectrum of pathologies including cancer, autoimmune, and inflammatory diseases. Therefore, usage of inhibitors of metabolic enzymes are considered a promising strategy for the development of therapeutic agents. However, the investigation of cellular metabolism is hampered by the significant impact of culture media, which interfere with many cellular processes, thus making cellular models irrelevant. There are numerous reports that show that the results from in vitro systems are not reproduced in in vivo models and patients. Over the last decade a novel approach has emerged, which consists of adaptation of the culture medium composition to that closer to the composition of blood plasma. In 2017‒2019, two plasma-like media were proposed, Plasmax and HPLM. In the review, we have summarized the drawbacks of common media and have analyzed changes in the metabolism of cells cultivated in common and plasma-like media in normal and pathological conditions.

Reactive oxygen species (ROS) play a major role in the regulation of various processes in the cell. The increase in their production is a factor contributing to the development of numerous pathologies, including inflammation, fibrosis, and cancer. Accordingly, the study of ROS production and neutralization, as well as redox-dependent processes and the post-translational modifications of proteins, is warranted. Here, we present a transcriptomic analysis of the gene expression of various redox systems and related metabolic processes, such as polyamine and proline metabolism and the urea cycle in Huh7.5 hepatoma cells and the HepaRG liver progenitor cell line, that are widely used in hepatitis research. In addition, changes in response to the activation of polyamine catabolism that contribute to oxidative stress were studied. In particular, differences in the gene expression of various ROS-producing and ROS-neutralizing proteins, the enzymes of polyamine metabolisms and proline and urea cycles, as well as calcium ion transporters between cell lines, are shown. The data obtained are important for understanding the redox biology of viral hepatitis and elucidating the influence of the laboratory models used.

The management of the vessel's course on the course is an important maritime quality that determines the effectiveness of the vessel's management. The environmental conditions in which course management tasks need to be addressed are of a different nature - limited visibility, stormy weather, icing, shallow water, tidal phenomena, narrow conditions, the presence of other vessels, and so on. All these aspects cannot be comprehensively considered by traditional mathematical methods, ensuring the necessary adequacy of the actual process. This paper highlights the existing approaches to the management of ship traffic on the course such as course management, disturbance management, ship traffic management on the basis of long-term forecasting, proportional-integral-differential (PID) law of control (deviation control), intellectual approaches to court management, in particular, synergetic approach, use of neural networks, fuzzy logic and evolutionary (genetic) algorithms-languages.

The golden cuttlefish Sepia esculenta is the one of most abundant cuttlefish species around south-east Asia and has a high commercial value. Despite its wide distribution and high commercial value, its reproductive biology is still poorly understood. This study was based on 25 males and 6 females. The potential fecundity (PF) of females was 1701–3719 oocytes, which was an increase, as compared to the previously known values. The oocyte resorption reached up to 13.2% of fecundity. The ovulation pattern was group-synchronous, with a predominance of previtellogenic oocytes. The pre-meiotic and primary growth oocyte phases were absent in mature females. The number of spermatophores carried by an individual male was 146–1698 (length 9–20 mm). The spermatophores were characterised by a cement body consisting of conical oral and cylindrical aboral parts. The ontogenetic changes in the spermatophores and their parts were recorded for the first time in the order of Sepiida. Their sperm content and their adhesive abilities also increased during ontogenesis. The data obtained in the present study significantly increased and corrected the existing knowledge of S. esculenta biology. Moreover, these data help to explain the general patterns of reproductive biology in cuttlefish, as well as in Cephalopoda as a whole.

Relevance. Beam cages are the most common type of floor covering for working areas of buildings and structures. Based on the results of a critical analysis of the existing methods for calculating and arranging the dimensions of beam cells, it was established that there are no clear recommendations on the rational range of selection of the sizes of beam cells depending on the surface load. The purpose of the study is to present the areas of rational operation of steel rolling beams, secured against buckling, based on the requirements of the calculation by the method of limit states. Methods. The tasks set in the work, aimed at achieving the research goal, are solved by analytical methods, relying on the basic laws of structural mechanics and existing knowledge about the actual operation of steel rolling beams under load. Methods of mathematical statistics were used to construct the main dependencies presented on the nomograms. Results. Areas of rational operation of steel rolling beams, secured against curvatures, are determined. The area of rational operation of beams is presented in the form of nomograms, which allow at the design stage to use a beam cell of maximum dimensions. As a criterion for rationalization, the criterion of the simultaneous satisfaction of the accepted section of the beam with the requirements of two groups of limiting states with minimum reserves was chosen. A refined algorithm for the layout of the beam cages and a refined method for calculating the cross-section of rolled beams are proposed, which make it possible to arrange the dimensions of the beam cage with a minimum steel consumption. The increase in the overall dimensions of the cells of the working platforms is substantiated.

Cephalopods are important in Arctic marine ecosystems as predators and prey, but knowledge of their life cycles is poor. Consequently, they are under-represented in the Arctic ecosystems assessment models. One important parameter is the change in ecological role (habitat and diet) associated with individual ontogenies. Here, the life history of Gonatus fabricii, the most abundant Arctic cephalopod, is reconstructed by the analysis of individual ontogenetic trajectories of stable isotopes (δ13C and δ15N) in archival hard body structures. This approach allows the prediction of the exact mantle length (ML) and mass when the species changes its ecological role. Our results show that the life history of G. fabricii is divided into four stages, each having a distinct ecology: (1) epipelagic squid (ML < 20 mm), preying mostly on copepods; (2) epi- and occasionally mesopelagic squid (ML 20–50 mm), preying on larger crustaceans, fish, and cephalopods; (3) meso- and bathypelagic squid (ML > 50 mm), preying mainly on fish and cephalopods; and (4) non-feeding bathypelagic gelatinous females (ML > 200 mm). Existing Arctic ecosystem models do not reflect the different ecological roles of G. fabricii correctly, and the novel data provided here are a necessary baseline for Arctic ecosystem modelling and forecasting.

Viral infections attract more and more attention, especially after the emergence of novel zoonotic coronaviruses and the monkeypox virus over the last 2 decades. Research on viruses is based to a great extent on mammalian cell lines that are permissive to the respective viruses. These cell lines are usually cultivated according to the protocols established in the 1950s to 1970s, although it is clear that classical media have a significant imprint on cell growth, phenotype, and especially metabolism. So, recently in the field of biochemistry and metabolomics novel culture media have been developed that resemble human blood plasma. As perturbations in metabolic and redox pathways during infection are considered significant factors of viral pathogenesis, these novel medium formulations should be adapted by the virology field. So far, there are only scarce data available on viral propagation efficiencies in cells cultivated in plasma-like media. But several groups have presented convincing data on the use of such media for cultivation of uninfected cells. The aim of the present review is to summarize the current state of research in the field of plasma-resembling culture media and to point out the influence of media on various cellular processes in uninfected cells that may play important roles in viral replication and pathogenesis in order to sensitize virology research to the use of such media.

Since the 1960’s, with the pioneering research by Malcolm Clarke and colleagues, cephalopod beaks (also named jaws or mandibles) have been described to species level and their measurements have been shown to be related to cephalopod body size and mass, which permitted important information to be obtained on numerous biological and ecological aspects of cephalopods in marine ecosystems. In the last decade, a range of new techniques has been applied to cephalopod beaks, permitting new kinds of insight into cephalopod biology and ecology. The workshop on cephalopod beaks of the Cephalopod International Advisory Council Conference (Sesimbra, Portugal) in 2022 aimed to review the most recent scientific developments in this field and to identify future challenges, particularly in relation to taxonomy, age, growth, chemical composition (i.e., DNA, proteomics, stable isotopes, trace elements) and physical (i.e., structural) analyses. In terms of taxonomy, new techniques (e.g., 3D geometric morphometrics) for identifying cephalopods from their beaks are being developed with promising results, although the need for experts and reference collections of cephalopod beaks will continue. The use of beak microstructure for age and growth studies has been validated. Stable isotope analyses on beaks have proven to be an excellent technique to get valuable information on the ecology of cephalopods (namely habitat and trophic position). Trace element analyses is also possible using beaks, where concentrations are significantly lower than in other tissues (e.g., muscle, digestive gland, gills). Extracting DNA from beaks was only possible in one study so far. Protein analyses can also be made using cephalopod beaks. The article investigates the features of the industrial application of information technologies in healthcare. Information technologies have become not only an integral part of economic and social life, but also in some sectors the leading basis for the implementation of activities. At the same time, there are both basic formats of their application that do not depend on a specific sphere, and specific ones that are characteristic of each specific industry. The ratio of ordinary and unique programs varies depending on the application area. Healthcare is characterized by a large number of unique technological products that directly help in the treatment of patients, and at the same time, there is a shortage of basic, including managerial digital technologies, which are either completely absent or are implemented to a small extent.Currently, several digital projects are in the process of development and implementation, aimed at optimizing interaction not only at the doctor–doctor level, but also at the doctor–patient level. The main tasks of these projects, in addition to automating an appointment with a doctor, medical examination, preferential medicines, regardless of the region where the patient is located, are to achieve solutions to issues related to the problems of early diagnosis of diseases remotely and in a short time. The need for this was clearly demonstrated by the coronavirus pandemic.

Relevance. Hemodynamics changes in recidivating myocardial infarction and early postinfarction angina are not well understood. In recent years, the frequency of these complications has been increasing. Aim. To evaluate peripheral hemodynamics changes in men under 60 years old with recurrent myocardial infarction and early postinfarction angina to improve prevention and outcomes. Material and methods. The study included men aged 19-60 years old with type I myocardial infarction. Patients are divided into two age-comparable groups: I - the study group, with recurrent myocardial infarction - 102 patients; II - control, without it - 541 patients. A comparative assessment of hemodynamics changes in first 48 hours (1) and the end of third week disease (2), also risk analysis of recurrent ischemia and poor outcome in selected groups were performed. To evaluate the features of lipid metabolism in acute and subacute myocardial infarction in men under 60 years old with recurrent episodes of ischemia (recurrent myocardial infarction and/or early postinfarction angina) to search for new approaches to improve prevention measures. Relevance. Recurrent myocardial infarction and early postinfarction angina negatively effects on the prognosis of myocardial infarction. Aim. To evaluate myocardial infarction sodium, potassium, chlorides, calcium metabolism, features in men under 60 years old with recurrent myocardial infarction and early postinfarction angina to improve prevention and outcomes. Material and methods. The study included men aged 19-60 years old with type I myocardial infarction. Patients are divided into two age-comparable groups: I - the study group, with recurrent myocardial infarction - 110 patients; II - control, without it - 555 patients. A comparative analysis of blood serum electrolyte levels, their dynamics from the first hours to the end of the third week of myocardial infarction in the selected groups were performed. Their impact on the risk of recurrent ischemia and unfavorable outcome was assessed. Results. In the study group, in the first hours of the disease, the levels of chloride were higher (103.7±5.5 and 101.7±4.7 (mmol/l); p=0.002), and total calcium at the end of the third week of myocardial infarction (2.3±0.2 mmol/l) - lower than in the control (2.46±0.16; p=0.001). With an unfavorable outcome in the study group, the sodium level was lower in the first hours of the disease (138.7±4.9 and 142.7±6.6 (mmol/l); p=0.049). Relevance. Due to the widespread use in practice, tubular furnaces were chosen as the object of study of this work. The article provides an analysis of damage to the supporting structures of oil refining tubular furnaces. The causes of damage and the physical nature of the development of damage are established. According to the results of field surveys, it was found that about 10% of the furnaces are operated with damage in the form of significant curvature of the supporting structures that developed as a result of the explosion of the gas-air mixture and the technological product inside the furnace space. The aim of the work is to analyze the damage and assess the impact of damage on the operation of the supporting structures of furnaces. Methods. The main research results were obtained by static numerical analysis of spatial models of furnace frameworks in the LIRA-SAPR software package. This complex belongs to the class of software products that implement the finite element method. Results. According to the results of calculating a series of models of structures, the effect of damage on the operation of the supporting structures of the furnace is determined. Based on the analysis of calculation data for models of tube furnaces with damage and comparison of calculation results for furnace models with structural damage identified during the survey, ways to optimize the design decisions of an industrial furnace are determined. Studies have shown the need to improve the design of tube furnaces in the direction of improving technology and improving the structural form of the supporting frame of the furnace.

Objective: To improve the diagnosis and treatment of acute cerebrovascular accident in patients with community-acquired pneumonia caused by the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19). Materials and methods: For the first time, clinical manifestations of strokes in patients with diagnosed new coronavirus infection (COVID-19) were analyzed in 130 patients. The study was conducted in two groups. The main group consisted of 69,2 % (n = 90) with a clinical and instrumental diagnosis: novel coronavirus infection in combination with stroke. The control group (30,8 %; n = 40) included the cases of ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke without signs of SARS-CoV-2. In both groups, the severity of the disease and pathogenetic subtypes were compared, and the features of the laboratory biochemical data were studied. Statistical analysis of the outcomes was carried out taking into account the severity of brain and lung tissue damage. Results: In patients with cerebral stroke against the background of the new coronavirus infection (COVID-19), the prevalence of ischemic stroke cases (86,4 %) was noted for undetermined (41,4 %) and cardioembolic (35,7 %) pathogenetic subtypes (according to TOAST) with localization in the carotid basin (89,7 %). In hemorrhagic stroke, parenchymal hemorrhage was observed with a greater frequency (54,5 %). The severity of the diagnosed strokes according to the NIHSS scale was up to 13,16 (8,80) points with less severe brain damage — Glasgow coma scale (14,0 (12,0 15,0). In the group of the patients, a widespread lesion of the lung tissue was diagnosed in 82,2 % of cases. No significant increase in the incidence of clinically significant manifestations of systemic and organ hypercoagulation was established. Conclusions: In stroke patients with COVID-19, ischemic manifestations with undetermined and cardioembolic subtypes without age and gender features prevail, with no differences in the severity of the course and a large number of favorable outcomes. A high activity of inflammatory and infectious changes was established by clinical laboratory.

We studied the patients had the acute cerebrovascular events after the community acquired pneumonia evoked by new COVID-19 infection. The aim of our paper is improving the diagnosis and treatment of that condition. Materials and methods . We analyzed the stroke clinical features of 121 patient suffering from community acquired pneumonia induced by COVID-19 for the first time. Two groups were formed depending on the proved pulmonary damage. The main group included 69.4 % of patients (n=84) with diagnosis of new coronavirus disease plus stroke. Patients with ischemic and hemorrhage stroke in absence of SARS-CoV-2 signs were formed control group (30.6 %; n=37). We compared severity of the diseases and explored the biochemical characteristics in the both groups. Outcomes of severe cerebral and pulmonary injury were analyzed statistically. Results . Post-stroke patients with coronavirus disease showed predominantly the ischemic stroke (86.4 %) for unspecified (41.4 %) and cardioembolic (35.7%) pathogenetic subtypes (according to TOAST) with localization in the carotid basin (89.7 %). The hemorrhagic stroke more often was accompanied by parenchymal hemorrhage (54.5 %). The severity of the developed stroke according to the NIHSS scale is up to 13.16 (8.80) points with less severe brain damage Glasgow coma scale (14.0 (12.0 15.0). In the group of patients, widespread lung tissue damage was diagnosed in 82,2% of cases. The reliable increase of clinically relevant hypercoagulation signs was absent. Conclusions . Post-stroke patients with COVID-19 mainly have ischemic signs with unspecified and cardioembolic subtypes in absence of any sex and age features. The differences in disease severity are absent. The outcomes of diseases are mainly favorable. The high activity of inflammatory changes is clinically revealed.

The structure of an active diluent influences the rheological properties of epoxy compounds. The use of a linear alkyl glycidyl ether allows preparation of compounds with the lowest dynamic viscosity. As the active diluent content is increased from 0 to 20%, the period in which the network polymer is formed in the course of curing of epoxy compounds increases from 5 to 30 min because of a decrease in the rate of consumption of epoxy groups in the compound with an increase in the active diluent content. The elastic-strain and thermal properties of epoxy polymer films were studied. When using a linear alkyl glycidyl ether as an active diluent, the ultimate strength and glass transition temperature as functions of the diluent content pass through a minimum. Introduction of monofunctional active diluents into the compound leads to a decrease in the elastic modulus. An increase in their content in the compound from 5 to 20% does not affect the elastic modulus.

A Vikhr plasma-beam device of the Dense Plasma Focus (DPF) type with an energy of ~5 kJ has been recently put into operation at the Baikov Institute of Metallurgy and Material Science. The device, the design of its components, and its parameters are described. The physical processes that occur in the DPF working chamber during generation of beams of fast electrons, ions, cumulative jets of a hot plasma, hard X rays, and neutrons (if deuterium is used as a working gas) are considered. Experiments have been conducted with the aim of testing energy-saving DPF circuits using a new power supply circuit of the DPF chamber, which contains a crowbar gap and an electronic delay circuit. The device is used for testing, diagnosing, and modifying the radiation-thermal resistance of various materials intended for use in the thermonuclear power engineering and aerospace engineering. The first experiments with this device in radiation testing of materials and aerospace materials science are described.

Changes in metabolic pathways are often associated with the development of various pathologies including cancer, inflammatory diseases, obesity and metabolic syndrome. Identification of the particular metabolic events that are dysregulated may yield strategies for pharmacologic intervention. However, such studies are hampered by the use of classic cell media that do not reflect the metabolite composition that exists in blood plasma and which cause non-physiological adaptations in cultured cells. In recent years two groups presented media that aim to reflect the composition of human plasma, namely human plasma-like medium (HPLM) and Plasmax. Here we describe that, in four different mammalian cell lines, Plasmax enhances mitochondrial respiration. This is associated with the formation of vast mitochondrial networks and enhanced production of reactive oxygen species (ROS). Interestingly, cells cultivated in Plasmax displayed significantly less lysosomes than when any standard media were used. Finally, cells cultivated in Plasmax support replication of various RNA viruses, such as hepatitis C virus (HCV) influenza A virus (IAV), severe acute respiratory syndrome-related coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) and several others, albeit at lower levels and with delayed kinetics. In conclusion, studies of metabolism in the context of viral infections, especially those concerning mitochondria, lysosomes, or redox systems, should be performed in Plasmax medium.

Frenulate siboglinids are a characteristic component of communities living in various reducing environments, including sites with hydrocarbon seeps. High concentrations of hydrocarbons in the sediments of the Arctic basin seas, including the Barents Sea, suggest the presence of a rich siboglinid fauna there. This reflects the fact that microbiological oxidation of methane occurs under reducing conditions, generating high concentrations of hydrogen sulfide in the sediment. This hydrogen sulfide acts as an energy source for the sulfide-oxidizing symbionts of siboglinids. Here we report on the findings of the frenulate siboglinid species Nereilinum murmanicum made between 1993 and 2020 in the Barents Sea. These data significantly expand the range of this species and yield new information on its habitat distribution. The depth range of N. murmanicum was 75–375 m. The species was most abundant from 200 to 350 m and was associated with temperatures below 3 °C and salinities from 34.42 to 35.07. Most of the findings (43 locations or 74%) fall on areas highly promising for oil and gas production. Twenty-eight locations (48%) are associated with areas of known oil deposits, 22 locations (37%) with explored areas of gas hydrate deposits. N. murmanicum was also found near the largest gas fields in the Barents Sea, namely Shtokman, Ludlovskoye and Ledovoye.

The article presents a report on the findings of representatives of frenulate pogonophorans Nereilinum murmanicum in the northern and central parts of the Barents Sea, which significantly expands the range of this species and provides guidance on its distribution in this basin. Here we present the coordinates of new finds with an indication of the depth. Find points were associated with data on known and potential hydrocarbon deposits.

The need for reliable supports for locating and maintaining the equipment of cellular opera-tors is increasing every year. The classic version of the supports are lattice towers. At present, optimization of the parameters of lattice towers, which is one of the ways to improve the efficiency of their design and construction, is of great importance. The purpose of the work is chosen definition of a rational constructive form of lattice cellular communication towers. In the work, the calculation and analysis of the tower supports of a prismatic and pyramidal form are made with varying basic geometric parameters of the structure and the ratio of parameters between them. To create basic dependencies, numerical modeling methods are used. According to the results of a critical analysis of the literature on the calculation of lattice supports of high-rise buildings, the absence of recommended optimal values of the geometric parameters of structures and the relationship between them was established. The stress-strain state of the design models of lattice towers of a prismatic and pyramidal shape was assessed with variation of the main overall geometric parameters of the structures. To achieve the goal of finding a rational structural form of lattice supports, two rationalization criteria have been tested and applied - the simultaneous fulfillment of the requirements of both limiting states and minimization of the mass of the structure. The results of the study of lattice tower supports are presented in dimensionless parameters, which can be applied by the engineer when assigning the overall dimensions of the structure at the initial design stage.

The effect exerted on rheological properties of polymer compounds by core-shell pigments with a shell of doped and undoped polyaniline was studied. In the presence of core-shell pigments with a doped polyaniline shell, the limiting content of the gel fraction increases, but the polymer network becomes less dense. Polarization studies show that the use of pigments with an undoped polyaniline shell leads to stronger inhibition of the corrosion process. As shown by electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, introduction of core—shell pigments enhances the protective properties of the coatings formed.

The squid Gonatus fabricii (Lichtenstein, 1818) is the most abundant pelagic cephalopod in the Arctic and the only squid to spend all of its life cycle in this region. Despite being highly abundant, its reproductive biology remains poorly known, and data on large maturing and mature specimens are especially rare. This study, based on extensive material (51 large specimens and >35,000 specimens in all), fills major gaps in the knowledge of the reproductive biology and ecology of G. fabricii. The fecundity of females ranged from 8,862 to 16,200 oocytes, with mature and late maturing specimens having between 8,862 to c. 10,000 and 11,402 oocytes, respectively. Oogenesis was synchronous, and oocyte resorption was observed; resorbed oocytes constituted up to 23.5% of fecundity. Between two to five ripe oocytes were observed, and these were 4.0–5.5 mm in diameter (maximum dimension). Males possessed between 77 and 257 spermatophores (length = 5.8–10.8 mm). Spermatophores were characterized by a cement body with well-developed collar and discs at the oral end, an ejaculatory apparatus longer than the cement body and the lack of a tapered, sharp tip to the cement body. Spermatophore size showed a uniform increase in relation to increasing male size. In newer spermatophores, the length, width and volume of the seminal reservoir also increased. Females possessed between 62 and 84 spermatangia (length = 1.8–2.6 mm); the spermatangia were present on the buccal membranes and lacked special attachment structures. Seminal receptacles were not found on the buccal membranes of females. Our findings are consistent with the hypothesis of geographically restricted spawning in G. fabricii. The study found evidence for one new breeding area in south-eastern Greenland. No differences in sizes at maturity were found between the breeding areas. Such geographically localized reproduction is relatively common in non-deep-water squids, but is much less common in deep-water squids. Localized reproduction may be especially important for G. fabricii because increased food availability in the epipelagic layers would likely increase the survival of epipelagic juveniles, with surface currents potentially aiding in their dispersal.

Deep-sea cephalopods are important in the bathyal ecosystems in terms of both abundance and diversity, but are seriously understudied. One of the most intriguing groups among the deep-sea cephalopods are Cirrata, relatively primitive octopods. Opisthoteuthis is the largest genus among the Cirrata. The least studied species of Opisthoteuthis in the Atlantic, Opisthoteuthis borealis Collins, 2005 was known from nine specimens only prior to our study, and nothing was described about its biology. Four males, all larger than the previously known maximum size (mantle length 78–96 mm cf. 75 mm), are described and COI sequence of the species provided to ease the identification of the Atlantic Opisthoteuthis. Our findings expand the known geographical (North Atlantic from 60° N northward and up to the Davis and Denmark Straits and the Iceland–Faroe Ridge), depth (878–1321 m) and temperature (3.0–3.6 °C) ranges of O. borealis. Arm bifurcation is reported in Cirrata for the first time, suggesting well-developed regeneration is present even in this ancient taxon of cephalopods. Ontogenetic increase of spermatophore length, i.e., when the spermatophores produced later during ontogenesis are larger than those produced earlier, is reported in Cirrata for the first time. The stomachs in all the studied specimens were at least one-third full, suggesting that O. borealis continues to feed and grow after reaching maturity. Polychaetes dominated over crustaceans in the stomach contents. Contrary to the assumption that Cirrata feed on relatively small prey only, large mature males of O. borealis consume polychaetes reaching 41.5–45.9% ML of the specimens.

Purpose: The purpose of the article is to determine the perspectives of socialization of AI and to model its communications. The author’s hypothesis H1 is that AI of the future will have a vivid social origin.

Based on the mathematical model presented in the first part of this paper, specialized software was created and computer modeling of nonstationary inhomogeneous temperature fields in a fiber-optic gyroscope was performed. The simulation aimed to analyze the temperature distribution in the gyroscope structural elements, especially in the fiber-optic coil and the electronics unit, since temperature fluctuations in them are one of the main sources of device errors. To achieve this goal, a three-dimensional unsteady field was calculated in a fiber-optic gyroscope. Based on the results of computer modeling, comparative data on the temperature distribution in the gyroscope structural elements on earth and orbital flight conditions, and the degree of influence of space and zero-gravity conditions are obtained.

In some cases, architectural, technological or other special requirements dictate the development of buildings and structures with large spans of shells. The choice of the scheme of bearing structures depends on the size of the span, architectural and planning solutions, the shape of the building in plan, the height of the structure, the presence and type of suspended transport, the requirements for the rigidity of the shell, the nature of lighting and aeration, type of roof, size and distribution of loads, the need to accommodate large masses of people and other factors. Differences in the purpose of large-span buildings and structures, features of technological processes, architectural and aesthetic requirements determine the use of a variety of solutions of such coatings. The article presents design measures for the implementation of architectural and artistic solutions of the building of the Dolphinarium in Volgograd. Analytical description of complex architectural and structural forms is performed. The analysis of existing structural forms of large-span structures is given. In the design, the concept of a combined archcable system was implemented, in which the cable system acts as an unloading and supporting system. The study of the work under load of various schemes of the cable system. It was also investigated the influence of pre-tensioning braces on strain supported their designs, and from what was determined optimal value of the efforts of the cables tension.

Objectives. To assess the efficacy and safety of prolonged sequential therapy with Mexidol in patients with hemispheric ischemic stroke (IS) in the acute and early recovery phases. Materials and methods. A randomized, double-blind, multicenter, placebo-controlled, parallel-group study included 151 patients (62 men and 89 women) was performed in which 150 patients (62 men and 88 women) aged 40–79 years were randomized. Simple randomization was used to define two groups: patients of group 1 received Mexidol therapy at a dose of 500 mg/day by intravenous infusion for 10 days followed by oral doses of 1 tablet (125 mg) three times a day for eight weeks. Patients of group 2 received placebo by the same protocol. The duration of involvement in the trial was 67–71 days. Results. At the end of treatment, mean scores on the modified Rankin scale (mRS) were lower in group 1 than group 2 (p = 0.04). Decreases in mean mRS scores (at visits 1–5) were more marked in group 1 (p = 0.023). The proportion of patients achieving recovery corresponding to 0–2 points on the mRS (at visit 5) was significantly greater in group 1 (p = 0.039). Testing on the National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale at visit 5 gave a significantly lower score in group 1 (p = 0.035). Decreases in scores on the National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale at the end of treatment relative to the baseline level in patients with diabetes mellitus were more marked in group 1 (p = 0.038). In group 1, the total population and the subpopulation of patients with diabetes mellitus showed more marked improvements in quality of life, which was apparent by visit 2. The proportion of patients without difficulty mobilizing was significantly greater in group 1 (p = 0.022). There were no significant differences in the frequencies of adverse events in patients of the two groups. Conclusions. Use of Mexidol in the acute and early recovery phases of IS is recommended.

A device based on a pulsed current generator with capacitive energy storage loaded on a plasma focus (PF) chamber is described. The device provides a discharge current amplitude of up to 2 MA in the PF chamber at a stored energy in the capacitor bank of up to 150 kJ. The PF chamber is designed to study hard X-ray (HXR) emission. It has windows for output of HXR emission in the cathode direction, as well as a special insert for output of HXR emission into the anode cavity. A study of operation of the chamber as a part of the setup with the use of various X-ray targets on the anode has been carried out. At a discharge current of 1.5MA, an HXR pulse with an average duration of 16 ns and energy spectrum from 10 to 200 keV, which provides an absorbed dose in the irradiated samples on the order of 1 Sv, is generated in the PF chamber.

In this work is studied the effect of the geometry of the rods plates on their stress-strain state. The rods plates with the cubic and pyramidal shape of the cell are considered in order to obtain the dependences of internal forces, deformations and frequencies of natural oscillations on the height of the plate and the aspect ratio of the plate. Spatial design schemes with a variation of the cell shape, the height of the plate, and the aspect ratio have been constructed. A static design is made of the unit load applied to the upper grid and the modal analysis. The values of the forces in the elements, the displacement of the nodes, the frequency and the shape of the natural oscillations are obtained. The graphs describing the dynamics of the stress-strain state change depending on the influencing factors are constructed.
