The experimental data of stationary observations of pore pressure in a body of a hydraulic-fill dam have been given. The analysis of the results shows it is necessary to take into account of pore pressure at the account of stability of slopes of hydraulic-fill dams.

The axisymmetric mixed problem of the theory of elasticity and plasticity for description of the initial stress-strain state around a single pile in a saturated bed is solved with consideration given to pore pressure. The bearing capacity of a single pile in saturated soils is evaluated.

The paper highlights the soil characteristics on the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan along with the basic theses of the elastic and plastic soil models elaborated by the authors through solving the physical non-linear mixed problem of the elasticity and plasticity theory to describe the initial stressed and deformed condition of water saturated grounds with consideration of the pore pressure.
