The goal of this note is to study integrable properties of a generating function of the HOMFLY-PT invariants of the Hopf link colored with different representations. We demonstrate that such a generating function is a $\tau$-function of the KP hierarchy. Furthermore, this Hopf generating function in the case of composite representations, which is a generating function of the 4-point functions in topological string (corresponding to the resolved conifold with branes on the four external legs), is a $\tau$-function of the universal character(UC) hierarchy put on the topological locus. Event sequences (ESs) arise in many practical domains including finance, retail, social networks, and healthcare. In the context of machine learning, event sequences can be seen as a special type of tabular data with annotated timestamps. Despite the importance of ESs modeling and analysis, little effort was made in adapting large language models (LLMs) to the ESs domain. In this paper, we highlight the common difficulties of ESs processing and propose a novel solution capable of solving multiple downstream tasks with little or no finetuning. In particular, we solve the problem of working with long sequences and improve time and numeric features processing. The resulting method, called ESQA, effectively utilizes the power of LLMs and, according to extensive experiments, achieves state-of-the-art results in the ESs domain., Comment: 25 pages, 3 figures

The COTS-Capsule Spaceborne hodoscope was launched into low earth orbit aboard the International Space Station and operated during 2021-2022. The primary objectives of the payload are: measuring and characterizing the radiation environment within the space station; serving as a technology demonstrator for the COTS-Capsule radiation mitigation apparatus; and testing the interaction of high-energy cosmic particles in space with our detectors. The payload features a particle hodoscope equipped with an array of novel detectors based on polyvinyl toluene scintillators and silicon photomultiplier sensors that are used for radiation detection and characterization. This paper provides a comprehensive account of the construction, preflight performance, testing, qualification, and in-orbit calibration of the COTS-Capsule payload. The hodoscope, sensitive to ionizing cosmic particles, facilitates impinging particle track reconstruction, energy deposition estimation, and linear energy transfer estimation. An innovative particle detector that offers a compelling combination of cost-effectiveness and high accuracy is introduced. The detector features plastic scintillators paired with a sparse arrangement of SiPMs, strategically positioned within a unique opto-mechanical framework. This configuration delivers precise measurements of spatial impact position and energy deposition of impinging particles. The manuscript describes the detector's physical model complemented by an analytical representation. These calculations underpin a numerical algorithm, facilitating the estimation of particle impingement position and energy deposition. The results of the numerical calculations are compared with the output of GEANT4 simulations and evaluated by rigorous laboratory testing. An array of these detectors, intended for deployment in a spaceborne experiment, underwent detailed design, manufacturing, and testing. With an ever-increasing reliance on machine learning (ML) models in the real world, adversarial examples threaten the safety of AI-based systems such as autonomous vehicles. In the image domain, they represent maliciously perturbed data points that look benign to humans (i.e., the image modification is not noticeable) but greatly mislead state-of-the-art ML models. Previously, researchers ensured the imperceptibility of their altered data points by restricting perturbations via $\ell_p$ norms. However, recent publications claim that creating natural-looking adversarial examples without such restrictions is also possible. With much more freedom to instill malicious information into data, these unrestricted adversarial examples can potentially overcome traditional defense strategies as they are not constrained by the limitations or patterns these defenses typically recognize and mitigate. This allows attackers to operate outside of expected threat models. However, surveying existing image-based methods, we noticed a need for more human evaluations of the proposed image modifications. Based on existing human-assessment frameworks for image generation quality, we propose SCOOTER - an evaluation framework for unrestricted image-based attacks. It provides researchers with guidelines for conducting statistically significant human experiments, standardized questions, and a ready-to-use implementation. An optical security element containing an area of random rough relief is proposed. It combines the low cost of mass replication inherent in traditional security holograms with the impossibility of holographic copying, when the wave restored by the hologram is rewritten as a copy of this hologram. The proposed optical element is also protected from contact and photographic copying. Laboratory samples of optical elements were obtained by taking replicas of a rough surface. Identification of the authenticity of optical elements was demonstrated by calculating the cross-correlation of speckle patterns produced by coherent light scattered off different replicas. The Spin Physics Detector collaboration proposes to install a universal detector in the second interaction point of the NICA collider under construction (JINR, Dubna) to study the spin structure of the proton and deuteron and other spin-related phenomena using a unique possibility to operate with polarized proton and deuteron beams at a collision energy up to 27 GeV and a luminosity up to $10^{32}$ cm$^{-2}$ s$^{-1}$. As the main goal, the experiment aims to provide access to the gluon TMD PDFs in the proton and deuteron, as well as the gluon transversity distribution and tensor PDFs in the deuteron, via the measurement of specific single and double spin asymmetries using different complementary probes such as charmonia, open charm, and prompt photon production processes. Other polarized and unpolarized physics is possible, especially at the first stage of NICA operation with reduced luminosity and collision energy of the proton and ion beams. This document is dedicated exclusively to technical issues of the SPD setup construction.

Magnetic quantum oscillations (MQO) of Hall coefficient are measured in rare-earth tritelluride TmTe$_{3}$ and shown to be much stronger and persist to higher temperature than the Shubnikov oscillations. It is general for MQO in strongly anisotropic metals, and the combined measurements of Hall and diagonal magnetoresistance provide useful informations about the electronic structure. The ratio of their MQO amplitudes depends linearly on magnetic field, and its slope gives a simple and accurate measurement tool of the electron mean free time and its temperature dependence., Comment: 6 pages, 2 figures

As a prototype detector for the SHiP Surrounding Background Tagger (SBT), we constructed a cell (120 cm x 80 cm x 25 cm) made from corten steel that is filled with liquid scintillator (LS) composed of linear alkylbenzene (LAB) and 2,5-diphenyloxazole (PPO). The detector is equipped with two Wavelength-shifting Optical Modules (WOMs) for light collection of the primary scintillation photons. Each WOM consists of an acrylic tube that is dip-coated with a wavelength-shifting layer on its surface. Via internal total reflection, the secondary photons emitted by the molecules of the wavelength shifter are guided to a ring-shaped array of 40 silicon photomultipliers (SiPMs) coupled to the WOM for light detection. The granularity of these SiPM arrays provides an innovative method to gain spatial information on the particle crossing point. Several improvements in the detector design significantly increased the light yield with respect to earlier proof-of-principle detectors. We report on the performance of this prototype detector during an exposure to high-energy positrons at the DESY II test beam facility by measuring the collected integrated yield and the signal time-of-arrival in each of the SiPM arrays. The resulting detection efficiency and reconstructed energy deposition of the incident positrons are presented, as well as the spatial and time resolution of the detector. Weber-type parabolic beams have a transverse intensity profile, which is parabolically-shaped and can be flexibly controlled. On the other hand, this type of beams belongs to the family of the so-called nondiffracting beams and have properties, promising for applications where the shape of the beam is of an importance. Vector electromagnetic theory has to be introduced in order to fully describe optical beams inside a high numerical aperture system, where the angles of the spatial spectra are large. We introduce here parabolic vector focus wave modes (FWM), which are both resistant to diffraction and to material dispersion. We employ here a spectral approach and investigate durations of parabolic vector FWMs in the femtosecond region. Two cases of transverse electric and transverse magnetic modes are introduced and both standing and traveling types of waves are considered. We demonstrate how the angular dispersion affects the pulse shape and its properties. Parabolic vector FWMs are studied in a transparent dielectric media (sapphire), which is widely used as laser processed material.

Nondiffracting pulsed beams are well studied nowadays and can be as short as a few femtoseconds. The nondiffracting pulsed beams not only resist diffraction but also propagate without changes due to the dispersion of a linear dispersive medium. A promising member of non-diffracting beam family is the so-called Mathieu beam which is a solution of Helmholtz wave equation in elliptical coordinate system. Zeroth order even Mathieu beams have unique asymmetric cross-section which makes these beams suitable for precise material processing. In this work we derive vectorial Mathieu beams using classical techniques and superpose them to create femtosecond pulsed beams. For these pulsed beams diffraction spreading and dispersive broadening is compensated by a given angular dispersion. Various intensity distributions, durations, angular dispersions and polarization states of different vector Mathieu focus wave modes are presented and discussed in detail.

Explicit expressions for multimatrix models with complex and unitary matrices allows to couple these models with well-known unitary, orthogonsl and sympletic ensembles. We consider examples of such mixed ensembles which are solvable in the sense that the partition functions of such ensembles can be considered as tau functions of the classical integrable equations., Comment: 10 pages

The generating series for the instanton contribution to Green functions of the $2D$ sigma model was found in the works of Schwarz, Fateev and Frolov. We show that this series can be written as a formal tau function of the two-sided two-component KP hierarchy. We call it formal singular tau function because this tau function is a sum where each term is the infrared and ultraviolet divergent one exactly as the series found by the mentioned authors. However one can regularize this singluar tau function and to obtain regular observables. This is because observables contains ratious of mentioned divergent expressions. We present exactly solvable modifications of the two-matrix Zinn-Justin-Zuber model and write it as a tau function. Measuring NT-proBNP biomarker is recommended for preliminary diagnostics of the heart failure. Recent studies suggest a possibility of early screening of biomarkers in saliva for non-invasive identification of cardiac diseases at the point-of-care. However, NT-proBNP concentrations in saliva can be thousand time lower than in blood plasma, going down to pg/mL level. To reach this level, we developed a label-free aptasensor based on a liquid-gated field effect transistor using a film of reduced graphene oxide monolayer (rGO-FET) with immobilized NT-proBNP specific aptamer. We found that, depending on ionic strength of tested solutions, there were different levels of correlation in responses of electrical parameters of the rGO-FET aptasensor, namely, the Dirac point shift and transconductance change. The correlation in response to NT-proBNP was high for 1.6 mM phosphate-buffered saline (PBS) and zero for 16 mM PBS in a wide range of analyte concentrations, varied from 1 fg/mL to 10 ng/mL. The effects of transconductance and Dirac point shift in PBS solutions of different concentrations are discussed. The biosensor exhibited a high sensitivity for both transconductance (2 uS/decade) and Dirac point shift (2.3 mV/decade) in diluted PBS with the linear range from 10 fg/mL to 1 pg/mL. The aptasensor performance has been also demonstrated in undiluted artificial saliva with the achieved limit of detection down to 41 fg/mL (~4.6 fM).

In the last few years, Neural Painting (NP) techniques became capable of producing extremely realistic artworks. This paper advances the state of the art in this emerging research domain by proposing the first approach for Interactive NP. Considering a setting where a user looks at a scene and tries to reproduce it on a painting, our objective is to develop a computational framework to assist the users creativity by suggesting the next strokes to paint, that can be possibly used to complete the artwork. To accomplish such a task, we propose I-Paint, a novel method based on a conditional transformer Variational AutoEncoder (VAE) architecture with a two-stage decoder. To evaluate the proposed approach and stimulate research in this area, we also introduce two novel datasets. Our experiments show that our approach provides good stroke suggestions and compares favorably to the state of the art. A Buncher or Capture Cavity (BCC) Cryomodule is currently in development at Fermilab for use in a second injector for LCLS-II-HE. The BCC Cryomodule is designed to contain one 1.3 GHz cavity and one solenoid magnet as part of a 100MeV low emittance injector. The design considerations for the Cryomodule are similar to the LCLS-II cryomodule with additional requirements to account for additional vacuum loading at the end of this vessel due to the termination of the insulating vacuum. To accomplish this design, the cryomodule is being developed using the experience gained during the development of the LCLS-II cryomodule.
