The paper presents the results of research on the influence of the material condition – HSLA steel with Ti and Nb microadditions – on the course of the austenitic transformation. In order to determine the kinetics of phase transformations occur in steel during individual stages of the austenitic transformation, tests were carried out using a Bähr 805 A/D dilatometer. In order to determine the influence of hot plastic deformation on the course of the austenitic transformation, plastometric tests were carried out using the Gleeble 3800 thermomechanical simulator. For detailed microstructural analysis, microscopic examinations were carried out using the light microscope and the scanning electron microscope. The obtained results were compared with hardness measurements. The tests carried out showed significant differences in the course of the austenitic transformation and the values of critical temperatures for steel before and after using the plastic deformation. The Ac1 temperature for steel in the as-cast state is 850°C and the Ac3 temperature is 950°C. As the annealing temperature increases, the hardness increases from 210 HV100 for a temperature of 700°C to 260 HV100 for a temperature of 920°C. Knowledge about the phase transformations of supercooled austenite is extremely important, especially for newly developed steels, hence the aim of the work is to analyze the atypical course of the austenitic transformation of HSLA steels and to determine the influence of deformation on the austenitic transformation during heating.

5. Hot Ductility of High-Mn Steel with Niobium and Titanium

The work presents the results of research on the effect of deformation parameters on hot ductility of high-Mn austenitic steel with niobium and titanium. The investigations were carried out on steel with 0.05% C, 24% Mn, 3.5% Si, 1.5% Al, 0.030% Nb and 0.075% Ti. Hot static tensile test was performed using Gleeble 3800 thermomechanical simulator. Samples were deformed in a temperature range from 1050°C to 1200°C with a strain rate of 3·10-3 s-1. The reduction in area (RA), determined in the static tensile test, was the basis for determining the hot ductility of the examined steel. Reduction in area of examined steel decreases from 88% at the temperature of 1050°C to 59% at 1200°C. High hot ductility of the investigated steel is the result of the synergy of chemical composition optimization, properly conducted modification of non-metallic inclusions and formed fine-grained microstructure of dynamically recrystallized austenite. In addition to hot ductility, parameters characterizing susceptibility of studied steel to high temperature cracking were also defined, namely: ductility recovery temperature (DRT), nil ductility temperature (NDT) and nil strength temperature (NST) were determined. The values of these temperatures are 1240°C, 1250°C and 1270°C, respectively. This means that the temperature of the beginning of plastic deformation of ingots of this steel may be equal even slightly above 1200°C. In addition, the high-temperature brittleness range (HTBR) was determined, which is equal 30°C.

Abstract Background The critically low hepatic iron stores of newborn piglets are considered to be a major cause of neonatal iron deficiency in modern breeds of domestic pig (Sus domestica). The main factor believed to contribute to this phenomenon is large litter size, which has been an objective of selective breeding of pigs for decades. As consequence, iron transferred from the pregnant sow has to be distributed among a greater number of fetuses. Results Here, we investigated whether litter size influences red blood cell (RBC) indices and iron parameters in Polish Large White (PLW) piglets and gilts. Small and large litters were produced by the transfer of different numbers of embryos, derived from the same superovulated donor females, to recipient gilts. Piglets from large litters obtained following routine artificial insemination were also examined. Our results clearly demonstrated that varying the number of piglets in a litter did not affect the RBC and iron status of 1-day-old piglets, with all showing iron deficiency anemia. In contrast, gilts with small litters displayed higher RBC and iron parameters compared to mothers with large litters. A comparative analysis of the RBC status of wild boars (having less than half as many piglets per litter as domestic pigs) and PLW pigs, demonstrated higher RBC count, hemoglobin level and hematocrit value of both wild boar sows and piglets, even compared to small-litter PLW animals. Conclusions These findings provide evidence that RBC and iron status in newborn PLW piglets are not primarily determined by litter size, and indicate the need to study the efficiency of iron transport across the placenta in domestic pig and wild boar females.

Neonatal iron deficiency anemia is prevalent among domestic pigs but does not occur in the offspring of wild boar. The main causes of this disorder in piglets of modern pig breeds are paucity of hepatic iron stores, high birth weight, and rapid growth. Replenishment of fetal iron stores is a direct result of iron transfer efficiency across the placenta. In this study, we attempted to investigate the molecular potential of iron transfer across the placenta as a possible cause of differences between wild boar and Polish Large White (PLW) offspring. Furthermore, by analyzing placentas from PLW gilts that had litters of different sizes, we aimed to elucidate the impact of the number of fetuses on placental ability to transport iron. Using RNA sequencing, we examined the expression of iron-related genes in the placentas from wild boar and PLW gilts. We did not reveal significant differences in the expression of major iron transporters among all analyzed placentas. However, in wild boar placentas, we found higher expression of copper-dependent ferroxidases such as ceruloplasmin, zyklopen, and hephaestin, which facilitate iron export to the fetal circulation. We also determined a close co-localization of ceruloplasmin and zyklopen with ferroportin, the only iron exporter.

14. Effect of Non-Metallic Inclusions on the Hot Ductility of High-Mn Steels

The aim of the work was to determine the effect of non-metallic inclusions on the hot ductility of two newly developed high-Mn austenitic steels (27Mn-4Si-2Al and 24Mn-3Si-1.5Al-Ti). For this purpose, a hot tensile test was carried out in the temperature range from 1050°C to 1200°C with a constant strain rate of 2.5⸱10-3 s-1. The tests were performed on the Gleeble 3800 thermomechanical simulator. Hot ductility of tested steels was defined by determining the reduction in area (% RA). Examined steels demonstrate diversified hot ductility. Clearly higher hot ductility was noted for the 24Mn-3Si-1.5Al-Ti steel. The reduction in area of this steel in the temperature range from 1050°C to 1200°C decreases from approx. 90% to about 58%, while the reduction in area of the 27Mn-4Si-2Al steel, in the same temperature range, decreases from approx. 66% to about 34%. The presence of single, regular-shaped AlN particles and complex MnS-AlN-type non-metallic inclusions was revealed in the 27Mn-4Si-2Al steel. Whereas fine (Ce, La, Nd)S-type sulphides, properly modified with rare earth elements, were identified in the 24Mn-3Si-1.5Al-Ti steel. The AlN-type inclusions and complex MnS-AlN-type inclusions were not revealed in the 24Mn-3Si-1.5Al-Ti steel. This is due to the presence of Ti microaddition, the concentration of which guaranteed binding of the whole nitrogen into stable TiN-type nitrides. Sulphides, disclosed in the 24Mn-3Si-1.5Al-Ti steel, are globular or slightly elongated in the direction of plastic deformation, as confirmed by a very low value of the elongation factor equal 1.48. This creates the opportunity to produce sheets of high strength and ductility and low anisotropy of mechanical properties.

Dans l’essai Rouvrir le roman, l’écrivaine propose de réinventer le genre romanesque au moyen de l’esprit de non-sérieux qui est un stimulant de la littérature. Fondée sur l’intertextualité, l’écriture de Divry renouvelle de façon originale des modèles connus comme celui de Madame Bovary (La condition pavillonnaire) ou de Robinson Crusoé (Trois fois la fin du monde). Les jeux narratifs conduisent la romancière à élaborer une écriture polyphonique. L’étude du roman Quand le diable sortit de la salle de bain démontre le lien entre le jeu et l’autoréflexivité et relève le potentiel du ludisme au niveau langagier, typographique et formel.

This paper presents the results of research conducted in the field of the technology of surface hardening of castings from unalloyed and low-alloy nodular cast iron using the laser remelting method. The range of studies included macro- and microhardness measurements using Rockwell and Vickers methods as well as metallographic microscopic examinations using a scanning electron microscope. Moreover, abrasive wear resistance tests were performed using the pin-on-disk method in the friction pair of nodular cast iron—SiC abrasive paper and the reciprocating method in the friction pair of nodular cast iron—unalloyed steel. Analysis of the test results shows that the casting surface layer remelting by laser for unalloyed nodular cast iron results in a greater improvement in its resistance to abrasive wear in the metal–mineral system, as compared to low-alloy cast iron. Additionally, carrying out the laser hardening treatment of the surface layer made of the tested grades of nodular cast iron is justified only if the tribological system of the cooperating working parts and allowable dimensional changes during their operation are known.

18. Revisiting the Effectiveness of Debris Mitigation by Back-Dating Fragmentation Events

Since 1961, more than 250 satellites have fragmented while in orbit about the Earth, from very low Earth orbit out to the geostationary belt. The problem of orbital debris has been recognized since at least the late 1970s, with the institution of the NASA Orbital Debris Program Office (ODPO) in 1979 at the Johnson Space Center. Efforts to mitigate the growth of the orbital debris environment have mainly focused in two areas: the reduction and elimination of accidental explosions of spacecraft and rocket upper stages and the timely removal of spacecraft and rocket upper stages from orbit after completion of their missions. The ODPO continues to analyze the orbital population in orbit based on object type, mass, and other parameters of interest for characterizing the overall growth of objects in Earth’s orbit. Of the 268 known fragmentation events, 46 have occurred more than ten years after the affected satellites’ launch. These long-delayed breakups increase the population of orbital debris on the date of fragmentation, but we can also consider that the debris generated during that event could be attributed to the launch date of that satellite. We will present here an analysis of the historical growth of the low-Earth orbit debris environment, removing intentional fragmentation events, and examine the effectiveness of mitigation measures (such as passivation and reducing post-mission orbital lifetime).

In the article we describe an enhancement to the Demand for Labour (DL) survey conducted by Statistics Poland, which involves the inclusion of skills obtained from online job advertisements. The main goal is to provide estimates of the demand for skills (competences), which is missing in the DL survey. To achieve this, we apply a data integration approach combining traditional calibration with the LASSO-assisted approach to correct representation error in the online data. Faced with the lack of access to unit-level data from the DL survey, we use estimated population totals and propose a~bootstrap approach that accounts for the uncertainty of totals reported by Statistics Poland. We show that the calibration estimator assisted with LASSO outperforms traditional calibration in terms of standard errors and reduces representation bias in skills observed in online job ads. Our empirical results show that online data significantly overestimate interpersonal, managerial and self-organization skills while underestimating technical and physical skills. This is mainly due to the under-representation of occupations categorised as Craft and Related Trades Workers and Plant and Machine Operators and Assemblers.

Abstract Infection with Gasterophilus intestinalis (botfly) larvae often occurs in horses. The aim of the study was to isolate the larvae of G. intestinalis and evaluate the serum and salivary humoral immune response using self-developed ELISA in G. intestinalis infected horses. Blood serum or saliva samples were taken from 125 infected horses and 54 uninfected slaughtered horses. The antigens from G. intestinalis larvae were used for development of ELISA in order to evaluate the intensity of G. intestinalis IgG, IgM, and IgA antibody reactivity in the serum or saliva of naturally infected horses and horses without larvae in the gastrointestinal tract (control group). Serum antibodies against second and third larvae’s stadium antigens reacted significantly more intensively in infected than in healthy horses in IgG (p ≤ 0.001; p ≤ 0.05, respectively) and IgA (p ≤ 0.05;p ≤ 0.001, respectively) classes. Salivary IgG and IgA specific’s antibody reactivity was significantly higher in horses with moderate (p ≤ 0.01) and severe infection (p ≤ 0.001) compared to the healthy horses. The determination of the G. intestinalis IgG and IgA antibody activity in saliva and serum may be used for detecting horses moderately and severely infested with larvae.

25. Thermodynamic Analysis of Precipitation Process of Complex Carbonitride TixV1-xCyN1-y in HSLA-Type Steel

The paper presents a detailed analysis of the MX-type interstitial phase precipitation process and a thermodynamic analysis of the TixV1-xCyN1-y carbonitride precipitation in austenite. The subject of research analysis was the newly developed HSLA-type steel containing 0.175% C, 1.02% Si, 1.87% Mn, 0.0064% N, 0.22% Mo, and microadditions 0.022% V and 0.031% Ti. Analysis of the process of precipitation of MX interstitial phases under thermodynamic equilibrium conditions proved that the first phase that precipitates in the austenite of the tested steel is TiN-type nitride. The onset temperature of this phase was 1450°C. Subsequently, carbides of the TiC-type, VN-type nitrides and VC-type carbides, for which the precipitation onset temperatures were 1180°C, 870°C and 775°C will be released, respectively. The analysis of the precipitation process of the complex carbonitride in austenite under thermodynamic equilibrium conditions was based on the Hillert and Staffansson model, developed by Adrian, with the use of the CarbNit computer program. The beginning of carbonitride precipitation with the stoichiometric composition Ti0.985V0.015C0.073N0.927 occurred at the temperature of 1394°C. At 850°C practically all of the Ti is bound in the carbonitride of the stoichiometric composition Ti0.883V0.117C0.378N0.622. At the same temperature, a significant part of microaddition V will be dissolved in austenite, which means that vanadium will have a lesser effect on the formation of a fine-grained austenite structure, but more strongly on the precipitation hardening of steel by the dispersion VN and V particles (C,N) released during the cooling of the products.

L’article présente les traits principaux de la personnalité de Jean de Tinan et de son écriture qui est l’inscription des crises sentimentales vécues par ce romancier fin-de-siècle mort prématurément. Sa recherche désespérée de l’amour conjuguée à « l’impuissance d’aimer » se reflète dans les imperfections et l’hybridité de sa création littéraire. Les textes autofictifs de Tinan, (Un document sur l’impuissance d’aimer et, plus particulièrement, Penses-tu réussir !) témoignent d’une crise du roman : composés de notes, bouts de préfaces et fragments divers, ils sont rédigés dans un style primesautier, souvent métadiscursif et discontinu à l’extrême. Cependant, derrière une négligence de la forme et du style se cache l’émotion sincère d’un mal-aimé. L’écriture de Tinan assure un refuge, voire une thérapeutique que s’est inventée un homme malade. Tout en étalant sa souffrance, celle-ci lui apporte du soulagement. L’article se propose de réfléchir sur la fonction compensatrice de l’écriture de Tinan.

27. Orbital Debris Shape Effect Investigations for Mitigating Risk

NASA’s Orbital Debris Program Office (ODPO) and Hypervelocity Impact Technology (HVIT) team have coordinated to better understand the risks to upper stages and spacecraft from non-spherical orbital debris. It is well understood that fragmentation (collision or explosion) events in orbit produce fragments of various materials, sizes, and shapes. To further characterize these parameters, the ODPO is developing the next-generation Orbital Debris Engineering Model (ORDEM) version 4.0 to include orbital debris shape distributions. Ground-based assets, such as radar and optical sensors, can provide size estimates and some insight into material based on radar return or optical filter photometry/spectroscopy, respectively. Characterizing an object’s shape requires more laboratory analyses to infer how shape affects these measurements. More importantly, in addition to size and material/density, the shape of fragments in orbit will alter the ballistic limit equations used in orbital debris risk assessments with NASA’s Bumper Code. The ODPO plans to release ORDEM 4.0 in the coming years. Performing ground-based laboratory impact tests on high-fidelity spacecraft mockups provides the means to directly measure size, mass, material/density, and shape of fragments, all key parameters needed to characterize real-world break up events. The DebriSat test, the results of which are provided, showcases the details of this type of experiment. The goal of this collaborative research between the ODPO and the HVIT team is to include a shape parameter in the environmental and breakup models used to assess risk for various space structures. This paper examines ground-based laboratory impact tests and the associated fragment shape categories. Provided these defined shapes, the approach is simplified by assuming a right circular cylinder (RCC) approximation with varying length-to-diameter ratios. Highlights of impact tests conducted by the HVIT team using non-spherical projectiles based on the RCC approximation are presented. Hydrocode simulations have also been performed to expand on the complexity of variations with non-spherical projectiles. Lastly, ray-tracing simulations of various RCCs of known material are provided to support the ongoing research on optical reflectance distributions with known shapes and to highlight how this may modify the current optical size estimation model. The status and plan forward are outlined for NASA's orbital debris shape effect investigation using a multidisciplinary approach by the ODPO and the HVIT team.

28. Effect of hot deformation and isothermal holding temperature on retained austenite characteristics in 3-5% Mn multiphase steels

The paper presents stress-strain characteristics recorded during the four-step compression of axisymmetric samples in the Gleeble thermomechanical simulator. The hot deformability of three steels with Mn concentrations of 3%, 4% and 5% was compared. The analysis of the influence of plastic deformation and Mn content on the microstructure of alloys, and in particular, on a fraction and morphological features of the retained austenite, was performed. The proportion of the retained austenite was determined by the X-ray diffraction method. It was found that the content of Mn in the range from 3% to 5% does not have a significant impact on the high-temperature resistance of the steel during compression tests, but it has a significant influence on the microstructure of the steel and the fraction of retained austenite. The optimal conditions for maximizing the proportion of retained austenite were obtained at the temperature of 400 °C, and it decreased with increasing Mn concentration in the steel. It has been shown that it is related to the redistribution of carbon from the remaining austenite fraction with an increase in the manganese content. The mechanical properties were determined on the basis of hardness measurements.

IntroductionAcute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) and lymphomas affect both pediatric and adult populations, therefore, they might be treated by pediatric or adult centers.It has been proven that the prognosis among adolescents and young adults (AYA) is poorer than among children, which remains a subject of research. Many factors are suspected to affect the diagnostic and treatment processes in adolescents and young adults, one of them being the organization of the healthcare system.The aimof the studywas to compare the time intervals between different events on disease trajectory in pediatric and AYA groups suffering from ALL and lymphomas.MethodsWe collected data on 81 patients diagnosed with ALL (50 children and 31 AYAs) and 100 patients diagnosed with lymphomas (50 children and 50 AYAs). Statistical analysis was performed in order to compare the groups.ResultsThe results confirmed the hypothesis that the duration of the diagnostic process differs significantly between groups. For patients with ALL, the analyzed time intervals were significantly shorter in the pediatric group than in the AYA group: first contact with a GP - admission to Hematology Department (2 vs. 5 days; pvalue= 0.004), first contact with a GP - treatment (6 vs. 12 days, p-value=0.001), diagnosis - treatment (1 vs. 3 days, p-value=0.003). In the case of patients suffering from lymphomas, the results were similar. Neonatal iron deficiency anemia is prevalent among domestic pigs but does not occur in the offspring of wild boar. The main causes of this disorder in piglets of modern pig breeds are paucity of hepatic iron stores, high birth weight, and rapid growth. Replenishment of fetal iron stores is a direct result of iron transfer efficiency across the placenta. In this study, we attempted to investigate the molecular potential of iron transfer across the placenta as a possible cause of differences between wild boar and Polish Large White (PLW) offspring. Furthermore, by analyzing placentas from PLW gilts that had litters of different sizes, we aimed to elucidate the impact of the number of fetuses on placental ability to transport iron. Using RNA sequencing, we examined the expression of iron-related genes in the placentas from wild boar and PLW gilts. We did not reveal significant differences in the expression of major iron transporters among all analyzed placentas. However, in wild boar placentas, we found higher expression of copper-dependent ferroxidases such as ceruloplasmin, zyklopen, and hephaestin, which facilitate iron export to the fetal circulation. The ejecta composition is an open question in gamma-ray bursts (GRB) physics. Some GRBs possess a quasi-thermal spectral component in the time-resolved spectral analysis, suggesting a hot fireball origin. Others show a featureless non-thermal spectrum known as the "Band" function, consistent with a synchrotron radiation origin and suggesting that the jet is Poynting-flux-dominated at the central engine and likely in the emission region as well. There are also bursts showing a sub-dominant thermal component and a dominant synchrotron component suggesting a likely hybrid jet composition. Here we report an extraordinarily bright GRB 160625B, simultaneously observed in gamma-rays and optical wavelengths, whose prompt emission consists of three isolated episodes separated by long quiescent intervals, with the durations of each "sub-burst" being $\sim$ 0.8 s, 35 s, and 212 s, respectively. Its high brightness (with isotropic peak luminosity L$_{\rm p, iso}\sim 4\times 10^{53}$ erg/s) allows us to conduct detailed time-resolved spectral analysis in each episode, from precursor to main burst and to extended emission. The spectral properties of the first two sub-bursts are distinctly different, allowing us to observe the transition from thermal to non-thermal radiation between well-separated emission episodes within a single GRB. 34. Catholic Pedagogy in Early Childhood Education: A Report on a Neglected Field of Research

- Abstract
The article presents examples of early childhood education as a form of Catholic pedagogy in Africa and South America. The presentation is based on interviews with 20 Sisters Servants, who initiated and continue the endeavour of Catholic child education as part of their mission. The illustrative part of the article is preceded by an exposition of the underpinnings and functions of Catholic pedagogy. Selected theoretical aspects are juxtaposed against a set of case studies, in order to highlight the validity, specificity, universalism and effectiveness of the approach. Our analysis of the interviews offers an insight into the sisters' perception of the essence of early childhood education. This educational approach is anchored in Bojanowski's conception of Catholic pedagogy, and finds its contemporary implementation in diverse socio-cultural and religious contexts. The article ends with a conclusion on the need to undertake further research in the neglected field of early childhood education, which will allow re-envisioning it for contemporary educational benefits. The research is necessary to expand the theoretical foundations of early childhood education and allow innovation in the related pedagogical practice.

36. Effect of Plastic Deformation on CCT-Diagram of Multi-Phase Forging Steel

The paper presents the results of research on the influence of plastic deformation and cooling conditions on microstructure, hardness and a shape of CCT-diagram (Continuous Cooling Transformations) of newly developed multi-phase steel assigned for die forgings, combining high strength, crack resistance and fatigue strength. The diagrams of undeformed and plastically deformed supercooled austenite transformations of steel, containing 0.175% C, 1.87% Mn, 1.0% Si, 0.22% Mo as well as Ti and V microadditions in concentration of 0.031% and 0.022%, respectively, were determined. Dilatometric tests were performed using a Bahr 805 A/D dilatometer. Specimens were austenitized at the temperature of 1000°C for 300 s and successively cooled to ambient temperature at a rate ranging from 60°C/s to 0.1°C/s. In order to determine the influence of plastic deformation on the shape of CCT-diagram, samples were deformed at the temperature of 1000°C, using a 50% degree of deformation, and then cooled in the same rate range as the samples which were not plastically deformed. The tests showed the following temperature results: Ac3 = 960°C, Ac1 = 832°C and a relatively low MS temperature equal 330°C. Plastic deformation of steel at the temperature of 1000°C, prior to the beginning of phase transformations, leads to significant increase in the ferritic transformation range, shifting the temperature of the beginning of this transformation to higher temperature in the entire range of cooling rates. It was also revealed that the specimens, plastically deformed at the austenitizing temperature, exhibit higher hardness compared to the specimens which were not plastically deformed, cooled with the same cooling rate. The elaborated CCT-diagrams of supercooled austenite transformations constitute the basis for correct development of the conditions of thermo-mechanical treatment of forgings from the tested steel.

A gravitational-wave (GW) transient was identified in data recorded by the Advanced Laser Interferometer Gravitational-wave Observatory (LIGO) detectors on 2015 September 14. The event, initially designated G184098 and later given the name GW150914, is described in detail elsewhere. By prior arrangement, preliminary estimates of the time, significance, and sky location of the event were shared with 63 teams of observers covering radio, optical, near-infrared, X-ray, and gamma-ray wavelengths with ground- and space-based facilities. In this Letter we describe the low-latency analysis of the GW data and present the sky localization of the first observed compact binary merger. We summarize the follow-up observations reported by 25 teams via private Gamma-ray Coordinates Network circulars, giving an overview of the participating facilities, the GW sky localization coverage, the timeline and depth of the observations. As this event turned out to be a binary black hole merger, there is little expectation of a detectable electromagnetic (EM) signature. Nevertheless, this first broadband campaign to search for a counterpart of an Advanced LIGO source represents a milestone and highlights the broad capabilities of the transient astronomy community and the observing strategies that have been developed to pursue neutron star binary merger events. The paper presents the results of thermodynamic analysis of precipitation process of MX-type interstitial phases in austenite. The subject of the investigation were two newly developed high strength low alloy microalloyed steels with similar concentration of C and N and with diversified amount of Nb, Ti and V microadditions. Thermodynamic analysis of the state of phase equilibrium of structural constituents, taking into consideration the austenite of investigated microalloyed steels, was mainly focused on analytic calculations of chemical composition of austenite and the content and chemical composition of potential MX-type interstitial phases (M – metal, X – metalloid) as a function of heating or cooling temperature. The analysis of precipitation process of complex carbonitrides in austenite under thermodynamic equilibrium conditions has allowed to define stoichiometric compositions of carbonitrides as a function of temperature along with determination of their volume portion. This study was based on the model proposed by Hillert and Staffanson, which was subsequently developed by Adrian. The results of performed investigation can be used to develop the appropriate parameters of thermomechanical treatment of metallurgical products from the tested HSLA-type steels.

The potential usefulness of relatively simple pore microstructures such as parallel, identical, inclined slits for creating broadband sound absorption has been argued through analytical models. In principle, such microstructures could be realised through budget additive manufacturing. However, validation of the analytical predictions through normal incidence impedance tube measurements on finite layers is made difficult by the finite size of the tube. The tube walls curtail the lengths of inclined slits and, as a result, prevent penetration of sound through the layer. As well as demonstrating and modelling this effect, this paper explores two manufacturing solutions. While analytical and numerical predictions correspond well to absorption spectra measured on slits normal to the surface, discrepancies between measured and predicted sound absorption are noticed for perforated and zigzag slit configurations. For perforated microgeometries this is found to be the case with both numerical and analytical modelling based on variable length dead-end pores. Discrepancies are to be expected since the dead-end pore model does not allow for narrow pores in which viscous effects are important. For zigzag slits it is found possible to modify the permeability used in the inclined slit analytical model empirically to obtain reasonable agreement with data.

DG CVn is a binary system in which one of the components is an M type dwarf ultra fast rotator, only three of which are known in the solar neighborhood. Observations of DG CVn by the Swift satellite and several ground-based observatories during its super-flare event on 2014 allowed us to perform a complete hard X-ray - optical follow-up of a super-flare from the red-dwarf star. The observations support the fact that the super-flare can be explained by the presence of (a) large active region(s) on the surface of the star. Such activity is similar to the most extreme solar flaring events. This points towards a plausible extrapolation between the behaviour from the most active red-dwarf stars and the processes occurring in the Sun., Comment: Accepted for publication in MNRAS (10/07/15). 9 pages (5 figures and 2 tables)

The aim of the work was to determine the diagrams of phase evolution under equilibrium conditions and numerical simulation of austenite phase transformations under non-equilibrium conditions, as well as to determine CCT (Continuous Cooling Transformation) and TTT (Temperature Time Transformation) diagrams with the use of JMatPro software. The subject of the analysis were two newly elaborated multiphase steels assigned for production of forgings: steel A, containing of 0.165% C, 2% Mn, 1.11% Si and steel B, containing 0.175% C, 1,87% Mn, 1% Si, 0.22% Mo and Ti and V microadditions at a concentration of 0.031% and 0.022%, respectively. Performed simulation revealed that investigated steels have similar critical temperatures under equilibrium conditions: Ac1 ~ 680°C, Ac3 ~ 830°C. Chemical composition of steel B and the interaction of Mo, Ti and V in particular, determines that diffusion transformations, i.e. ferritic and pearlitic, in the elaborated CCT and TTT diagrams are significantly shifted to longer times in relation to the position of these transformations in the diagrams for steel A. A distinct delay concerns also bainitic transformation. Moreover, it was found that the MS temperature of steel B is slightly lower. Determined CCT and TTT diagrams are essentially helpful in the development of heat and thermo-mechanical treatment conditions for new steel grades.

Neonatal venous thrombosis is a rare condition that can be iatrogenic or occur due to viral infections or genetic mutations. Thromboembolic complications are also commonly observed as a result of SARS-CoV-2 infections. They can affect pediatric patients, especially the ones suffering from multisystem inflammatory syndrome in children (MIS-C) or multisystem inflammatory syndrome in neonates (MIS-N). The question remains whether the maternal SARS-CoV-2 infection during pregnancy can lead to thromboembolic complications in fetuses and neonates. We report on a patient born with an embolism in the arterial duct, left pulmonary artery, and pulmonary trunk, who presented several characteristic features of MIS-N, suspecting that the cause might have been the maternal SARS-CoV2 infection in late pregnancy. Multiple genetic and laboratory tests were performed. The neonate presented only with a positive result of IgG antibodies against SARS-CoV-2. He was treated with low molecular weight heparin. Subsequent echocardiographic tests showed that the embolism dissolved. More research is necessary to evaluate the possible neonatal complications of maternal SARS-CoV-2 infection.

The paper presents the results of research on the influence of the material condition - HSLA steel with Ti and Nb microadditions - on the course of the austenitic transformation. In order to determine the kinetics of phase transformations occur in steel during individual stages of the austenitic transformation, tests were carried out using a Bähr 805 A/D dilatometer. In turn, the influence of hot plastic deformation on the course of the austenitic transformation, were determined via plastometric tests carried out using the Gleeble 3800 thermomechanical simulator. For detailed microstructural analysis, microscopic examinations were carried out using the light microscope and the scanning electron microscope. The obtained results were compared with hardness measurements. The tests carried out showed significant differences in the course of the austenitic transformation and the values of critical temperatures for steel before and after using the plastic deformation. The Ac1 temperature for steel in the as-cast state is 850 °C and the Ac3 temperature is 950 °C. As the annealing temperature increases, the hardness increases from 210 HV100 for a temperature of 700 °C to 260 HV100 for a temperature of 920 °C. Knowledge about the phase transformations of supercooled austenite is extremely important, especially for newly developed steels, hence the aim of the work was to analyze the atypical course of the austenitic transformation of HSLA steels and to determine the influence of deformation on the austenitic transformation during heating. 50. Hot Ductility of High-Mn Steel with Niobium and Titanium.

The work presents the results of research on the effect of deformation parameters on hot ductility of high-Mn austenitic steel with niobium and titanium. The investigations were carried out on steel with 0.05% C, 24% Mn, 3.5% Si, 1.5% Al, 0.030% Nb and 0.075% Ti. Hot static tensile test was performed using Gleeble 3800 thermomechanical simulator. Samples were deformed in a temperature range from 1050 °C to 1200 °C with a strain rate of 3·10
-3 s-1 . The reduction in area (RA), determined in the static tensile test, was the basis for determining the hot ductility of the examined steel. Reduction in area of examined steel decreases from 88% at the temperature of 1050 °C to 59% at 1200 °C. High hot ductility of the investigated steel is the result of the synergy of chemical composition optimization, properly conducted modification of non-metallic inclusions and formed fine-grained microstructure of dynamically recrystallized austenite. In addition to hot ductility, parameters characterizing susceptibility of studied steel to high temperature cracking were also defined, namely: ductility recovery temperature (DRT), nil ductility temperature (NDT) and nil strength temperature (NST) were determined. The values of these temperatures are 1240 °C, 1250 °C and 1270 °C, respectively. This means that the temperature of the beginning of plastic deformation of ingots of this steel may be equal even slightly above 1200 °C.
