Abstract

The year 2020 was marked by the health crisis caused by COVID-19, and as a result, the sudden switch from a face-to-face learning teaching modality to a totally distance learning one was imposed. This change of modality placed the actors involved in an unprecedented situation, in which they were encouraged to adapt their teaching practices, in particular their professional gestures, to a totally online teaching modality. The aim of this study is first to identify the difficulties encountered by teachers in coping with this change, and then to assess the impact of this teaching mode on their professional gestures, in the light of Jorro’s model (2005). To this end, we opted for qualitative research carried out through semi-directive interviews with forty teachers belonging to the different establishments of Mohammed First University. These teachers expressed difficulties in implementing professional gestures in a distance learning context. This subsequently led to changes in the appearance and suppression of certain gestures.

Abstract

Rectovesical fistulas are rare and typically result from inflammatory or neoplastic conditions in the small pelvis. They occur within a pelvic region that has been altered by local inflammatory or neoplastic processes. This explains the challenges in detecting these fistulas using conventional imaging techniques, despite the effectiveness of CT and MRI. Colonic diverticulosis is the primary cause of colovesical fistulas. To date, there have been no reported cases of a rectovesical fistula associated with a bladder diverticulum in the literature. We present a case of a patient who presented with a large stone within a bladder diverticulum. The migration of this stone into the rectum revealed an advanced rectal tumor. The unique aspect of our case is primarily the presence of a rectovesical fistula arising from a lateral bladder diverticulum. Additionally, we observed the migration of the diverticular calculus from the bladder to the rectum.

Abstract

Facing an environment increasingly complex, uncertain and changing, even in crisis, organizations are driven to be agile in order to survive. Agility, at the core heart of business strategy, represents the ability to grow in a competitive environment of continuous and unpredictable changes with information systems perceived as one of its main enablers. In other words, to be agile, organizations must be able to rely on agile enterprise information systems/information technology (IT/IS). Since, the agility needs are not the same among stakeholders, the objective of this research is to develop a conceptual model for the achievement and assessment of IT/IS agility from balanced perspectives to support agile organizations. Several researches have indicated that the IT balanced scorecard (BSC) approach is an appropriate technique for evaluating IT performance. This paper provides a balanced-scorecard based framework to evaluate the IS agility through four perspectives: business contribution, user orientation, operation excellence and innovation and competitiveness. The proposed framework, called IS Agility BSC, propose a three layer structure for each of the four perspectives: mission, key success factors, and agility evaluation criteria. According to this conceptual model, enterprise information systems agility is measured according to 14 agility key success factors, over the four BSC Perspectives, using 42 agility evaluation criteria that are identified based on literature survey methodology. This paper explores agility in the broader context of the enterprise information systems. The findings will provide, for both researchers and practitioners, a practical approach for achieving and measuring IS agility performance to support organizations in attempt to become agile as a new condition of surviving in the new business world.

Abstract

Onychomycosis (OM) is a widespread infection requiring prolonged treatment with potential side effects. Diagnostic certainty is therefore essential before initiating antifungal therapy. Molecular biology has already shown benefits in reducing the time to diagnosis, providing technical ease, and increasing sensitivity for the respective species that molecular tests can detect. Nevertheless, causative agents are numerous, and culture remains essential, particularly for detecting non-dermatophytes mold infections. This study compared the performance of three different diagnostic strategies: conventional culture technique, the multiplex DermaGenius® 2.0 PCR (DG), and a mixed PCR/culture algorithm guided by the result of direct examination with calcofluor (DEC). The mixed algorithm (MA) prioritizes DG PCR and DEC as the primary diagnostic tools, supplemented by selective sample inoculation when mycelial elements are visualized in DEC and when DG PCR fails to detect any fungus or identifies a fungus with morphology differing from that observed in DEC (filamentous fungi versus yeasts). With only 13% of samples requiring inoculation, MA emerged as the most effective strategy, demonstrating significantly higher sensitivity (98.18%; p < 0.001) compared to single-method approaches (78.18% for DG PCR alone and 74.55% for culture alone) while maintaining a specificity comparable to DG PCR (100%). This new approach saves time in result delivery, requires fewer human resources, and increases diagnostic accuracy to better meet the needs of clinicians.

Abstract

This article aimed to study the antimicrobial activity, chemical composition, and acute oral toxicity of essential oils (EOs) of Mentha pulegium and Rosmarinus officinalis, two aromatic and medicinal plants widely used in the traditional Moroccan pharmacopeia. The average content of EOs was 3.2 and 2.5% for M. pulegium and R. officinalis, respectively. The chemical characterization showed a richness in some compounds identified by gas chromatography coupled with mass spectrometry (GC/MS): R(+)-Pulegone (45.48%), Menthone (14.2%), Piperitone (8.15%), and Isomenthone (7.18%) in M. pulegium and 1,8-Cineole (46.32%), Camphene (13.4%), and α-Pinene (9.52%) in R. officinalis. These metabolites showed a significant antimicrobial effect against the tested strains (bacteria and yeasts isolated from the hospital environment) compared to synthetic antibiotics that seem to be ineffective against resistant microorganisms. Based on lethal concentration LD50 >5,000 mg/kg (body weight), the oil was found to be marginally safe according to OECD guidelines and can be further explored (bio-product with low risk).

Abstract

Xanthogranulomatous cholecystitis (CXG) is a rare entity of cholecystitis, characterized by the presence of xanthogranulomas within the gallbladder wall, that could be misdiagnosed as a vesicular carcinoma. We report a case of 66-year-old man with xanthogranulomatous cholecystitis associated with an incidental finding of a fusion of the planes of the liver which is a rare anatomic variant. Imaging especially ultrasounds, CT scan, and MRI play a key role in the characterization of those anomaly, thus avoiding a non–suitable surgical procedure.

Cette étude est une analyse de l’intégration des immigrants dans le contexte de la pandémie Covid-19, elle concerne un échantillon de la population immigrante composée de 100 immigrants vivant et travaillant dans l’espace urbain de Marrakech. Il s’agit d’une étude quantitative mesurant les effets des mesures de restrictions liés à la pandémie sur les immigrants de la ville de Marrakech, ainsi que les mesures entreprises dans la perspective d’alléger l’impact socioéconomique négatif sur cette population vulnérable. Il est utilisé un questionnaire à fin de collecter les donnés qui sont présenté sous forme de tableaux et de graphiques convenables. Les résultats obtenus dans ce cadre montrent une prédominance des immigrants régularisés séjournant depuis plus de deux ans dans cet espace, ils exercent tous des activités économiques divers allant des simples activités informelles aux grande entreprises touristiques dont la quasi-totalité ont perdu leurs travail et leurs revenus sans bénéficier des aides de l’Etat.
