We compute the conductor exponents at odd places using the machinery of cluster pictures of curves for three infinite families of hyperelliptic curves. These are families of Frey hyperelliptic curves constructed by Kraus and Darmon in the study of the generalised Fermat equations of signatures $(r,r,p)$ and $(p,p,r)$, respectively. Here, $r$ is a fixed prime number and $p$ is a prime that is allowed to vary. In the context of the modular method, Billerey-Chen-Dieulefait-Freitas computed all conductor exponents for the signature $(r,r,p)$. We recover their computations at odd places, providing an alternative approach. In a similar setup, Chen-Koutsianas computed all conductor exponents for the signature $(p,p,5)$. We extend their work to the general case of signature $(p,p,r)$ at odd places. Our work can also be used to compute local arithmetic data for the curves in these families., Comment: 38 pages. Computer Science - Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition - Abstract
Geometric reconstruction and SLAM with endoscopic images have seen significant advancements in recent years. In most medical specialties, the endoscopes used are monocular, and the algorithms applied are typically extensions of those designed for external environments, resulting in 3D reconstructions up to an unknown scale factor. In this paper, we take advantage of the fact that standard endoscopes are equipped with near-light sources positioned at a small but non-zero baseline from the camera. By leveraging the inverse-square law of light decay, we enable, for the first time, monocular reconstructions with accurate metric scale. This paves the way to transform any endoscope into a metric device, which is essential for practical applications such as measuring polyps, stenosis, or the extent of tissue affected by disease., Comment: ICRA 2025

- Abstract
This article adheres to UN guidelines concerning the Decade of Healthy Ageing (2021-2030) which aim to improve the lives of the older population. The objective of this study is to show how social dance with artistic-scenic purposes for a socially vulnerable group of older adults (third and fourth age) contributes to active ageing from social and health perspectives. The sample comes from a social group for the over-60s years and forms part of an artistic-community project in which participant observation has been carried out for five years. To obtain more data from the sample group, an "ad hoc" measurement instrument is developed based on a specific literature review on the topic. The results show that dance, group, and stage performance are a vital driver for members. The analysis shows that individual perspectives are higher than group perspectives. The research provides evidence that social dance groups improve motor expressiveness, stimulate the ability to think, memorize and create, among other aspects.

One of the most captivating properties of polaritons is their capacity to confine light at the nanoscale. This confinement is even more extreme in two-dimensional (2D) materials. 2D polaritons have been investigated by optical measurements using an external photodetector. However, their effective spectrally resolved electrical detection via far-field excitation remains unexplored. This fact hinders their potential exploitation in crucial applications such as sensing molecules and gases, hyperspectral imaging and optical spectrometry, banking on their potential for integration with silicon technologies. Herein, we present the first electrical spectroscopy of polaritonic nanoresonators based on a high-quality 2D-material heterostructure, which serves at the same time as the photodetector and the polaritonic platform. We employ metallic nanorods to create hybrid nanoresonators within the hybrid plasmon-phonon polaritonic medium in the mid and long-wave infrared ranges. Subsequently, we electrically detect these resonators by near-field coupling to a graphene pn-junction. The nanoresonators simultaneously present a record of lateral confinement and high-quality factors of up to 200, exhibiting prominent peaks in the photocurrent spectrum, particularly at the underexplored lower reststrahlen band of hBN. We exploit the geometrical and gate tunability of these nanoresonators to investigate their impact on the photocurrent spectrum and the polaritonic's waveguided modes. This work opens a venue for studying this highly tunable and complex hybrid system, as well as for using it in compact platforms for sensing and photodetection applications., Comment: 34 pages, 4 main figures and 22 supplementary figures

Background: Idiopathic Rapid eye movement sleep behavior disorder (IRBD) is recognized as the prodromal stage of the alpha-Synucleinopathies. Although some studies have addressed the characterization of brain structure in IRBD, little is known about its progression. Objective: The present work aims at further characterizing gray matter progression throughout IRBD relative to normal aging and investigating how these changes are associated with cognitive decline. Methods: Fourteen patients with polysomnography-confirmed IRBD and 18 age-matched healthy controls (HC) underwent neuropsychological, olfactory, motor, and T1-weighted MRI evaluation at baseline and follow-up. We compared the evolution of cortical thickness (CTh), subcortical volumes, smell, motor and cognitive performance in IRBD and HC after a mean of 1.6 years. FreeSurfer was used for CTh and volumetry preprocessing and analyses. The symmetrized percent of change (SPC) of the CTh was correlated with the SPC of motor and neuropsychological performance. Results: IRBD and HC differed significantly in the cortical thinning progression in regions encompassing bilateral superior parietal and precuneus, the right cuneus, the left occipital pole and lateral orbitofrontal gyri (FWE corrected, p

Background: Resting-state functional MRI has been proposed as a new biomarker of prodromal neurodegenerative disorders, but it has been poorly investigated in the idiopathic form of rapid-eye-movement sleep behavior disorder (IRBD), a clinical harbinger of subsequent synucleinopathy. Particularly, a complex-network approach has not been tested to study brain functional connectivity in IRBD patients. Objectives: The aim of the current work is to characterize resting-state functional connectivity in IRBD patients using a complex-network approach and to determine its possible relation to cognitive impairment. Method: Twenty patients with IRBD and 27 matched healthy controls (HC) underwent resting-state functional MRI with a 3T scanner and a comprehensive neuropsychological battery. The functional connectome was studied using threshold-free network-based statistics. Global and local network parameters were calculated based on graph theory and compared between groups. Head motion, age and sex were introduced as covariates in all analyses. Results: IRBD patients showed reduced cortico-cortical functional connectivity strength in comparison with HC in edges located in posterior regions (p

Computer Science - Computation and Language - Abstract
Streaming Machine Translation (MT) is the task of translating an unbounded input text stream in real-time. The traditional cascade approach, which combines an Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR) and an MT system, relies on an intermediate segmentation step which splits the transcription stream into sentence-like units. However, the incorporation of a hard segmentation constrains the MT system and is a source of errors. This paper proposes a Segmentation-Free framework that enables the model to translate an unsegmented source stream by delaying the segmentation decision until the translation has been generated. Extensive experiments show how the proposed Segmentation-Free framework has better quality-latency trade-off than competing approaches that use an independent segmentation model. Software, data and models will be released upon paper acceptance., Comment: Pre-MIT Press publication version. 18 pages, 13 figures

We study the equation $(x-4r)^3 + (x-3r)^3 + (x-2r)^3+(x-r)^3 + x^3 + (x+r)^3+(x+2r)^3 + (x+3r)^3 + (x+4r)^3 = y^p$, which is a natural continuation of previous works carried out by A. Arg\'{a}ez-Garc\'{i}a and the fourth author (perfect powers that are sums of cubes of a three, five and seven term arithmetic progression). Under the assumptions $0 < r \leq 10^6$, $p \geq 5 $ a prime and $\gcd(x, r) = 1$, we show that solutions must satisfy $xy=0$. Moreover, we study the equation for prime exponents $2$ and $3$ in greater detail. Under the assumptions $r>0$ a positive integer and $\gcd(x, r) = 1$ we show that there are infinitely many solutions for $p=2$ and $p=3$ via explicit constructions using integral points on elliptic curves. We use an amalgamation of methods in computational and algebraic number theory to overcome the increased computational challenge. Most notable is a significant computational efficiency obtained through appealing to Bilu, Hanrot and Voutier's Primitive Divisor Theorem and the method of Chabauty, as well as employing a Thue equation solver earlier on., Comment: 12 pages

Objective. To determine potential mitochondrial and oxidative alterations in colon biopsies from idiopathic REM sleep behavior disorder (iRBD) and Parkinson’s disease (PD) subjects. Methods. Colonic biopsies from 7 iRBD subjects, 9 subjects with clinically diagnosed PD, and 9 healthy controls were homogenized in 5% w/v mannitol. Citrate synthase (CS) and complex I (CI) were analyzed spectrophotometrically. Oxidative damage was assessed either by lipid peroxidation, through malondialdehyde and hydroxyalkenal content by spectrophotometry, or through antioxidant enzyme levels of superoxide dismutase-2 (SOD2), glutathione peroxidase-1 (Gpx1), and catalase (CAT) by western blot. The presence of mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) deletions was assessed by long PCR and electrophoresis. Results. Nonsignificant trends to CI decrease in both iRBD (45.69±18.15; 23% decrease) and PD patients (37.57±12.41; 37% decrease) were found compared to controls (59.51±12.52, p: NS). Lipid peroxidation was maintained among groups (iRBD: 27.46±3.04, PD: 37.2±3.92, and controls: 31.71±3.94; p: NS). Antioxidant enzymes SOD2 (iRBD: 2.30±0.92, PD: 1.48±0.39, and controls: 1.09±0.318) and Gpx1 (iRBD 0.29±0.12, PD: 0.56±0.33, and controls: 0.38±0.16) did not show significant differences between groups. CAT was only detected in 2 controls and 1 iRBD subject. One iRBD patient presented a single mtDNA deletion.

Abstract: Introduction: The purpose of our study is to describe 4 cases of sexsomnia, a form of parasomnia characterised by sexual behaviour during sleep. Methods: Clinical history and video-polysomnography recordings from patients diagnosed with sexsomnia in the Multidisciplinary Sleep Unit at Hospital Clínic in Barcelona. Results: Three men and one woman between 28 and 43 years of age reported sexual behaviours during sleep with progression times ranging from 9 months to 7 years. Episodes consisted of masturbation without seeking the participation of a sleeping partner (2 cases) and attempts at sexual intercourse with inappropriate and uncharacteristic vocalizations and behaviours (3 cases). The frequency of the episodes ranged from 4 isolated episodes to 2-3 per week. Patients were amnestic of these events and surprised by their partners’ accounts of their behaviour. Medical histories revealed that 1 patient was a somnambulist, 2 had confusional arousals, and 1 experienced somniloquy. Video-polysomnography did not disclose sexual behaviours during sleep but revealed sleep apnoea in 2 cases and periodic leg movements in sleep in another. The only patient treated with clonazepam reported decreased frequency of both confusional arousals and sexsomnia episodes. Conclusions: Sexsomnia occurs in young adults and is characterised by masturbation and inappropriate attempts at achieving sexual intercourse followed by total amnesia of the events. It can be associated with other parasomnias such as sleepwalking and confusional arousals. Other sleep disorders, including sleep apnoea and periodic leg movement disorder, may trigger episodes of sexsomnia. The aim of this article is to study the narrative, visual, and psycho-affective strategies of both phenomena through the films Flee (Jonas Poher Rasmussen, 2021), Waltz with Bashir (Ari Folman, 2008), and L'Image Manquante (Rithy Panh, 2013). The ability of animated images to reconstruct moments for which there is no visual testimony, as well as their capacity to evoke the experience of traumatic events, emerges as the center of a specific aesthetic approach to history, forming a type of cinema of the real (Zylberman, 2022). Contrary to the tradition of documentary and visual essay, there is a more frequent expressive use of evocative mechanisms, dreamlike images combined with archival material, and forms of re-enactment of real events that necessarily do not involve the use of actors. The evocation of painful experiences establishes a visual framework in which the viewer becomes the epicenter of the affective staging of trauma and PTSD, prioritizing poetic construction.

This article draws on the stimulus–organism–response (SOR) model to understand the role of negative emotions in the anti-brand behaviors of online users who consume snow sports brands. To this end, both the online social influence and the mediating effect of symbolic incongruence (stimulus) on the generation of negative emotions (anger, stress, frustration, fear, boredom and sadness) (organism), and how these influence the formation of negative customer brand engagement (nCBE) (response), are analyzed. The study also analyses the moderating effects of “level of expertise”, this makes it possible to capture differences in behaviors based on the profile of the users in each of the proposed relationships. Questionnaire responses of 400 ski and snowboard users over 18 years of age were analyzed using a quantitative methodology. The results obtained have important theoretical and practical implications, since they confirm that online social influences have both a direct and indirect (mediating) effect on negative emotions, which positively affects the nCBE of online users of snow sports brands. Significant differences in behavior based on experience level (moderation effect) were also found. The study proposes useful practical recommendations applicable in online environments that the extreme sports industry could use to neutralize/avoid highly detrimental consequences.

Abstract We investigated the biomarker profile of neurodegeneration, Alzheimer’s and Lewy body pathology in the CSF of 148 polysomnography-confirmed patients with isolated REM sleep behavior disorder (IRBD), a condition that precedes Parkinson’s disease (PD) and dementia with Lewy bodies (DLB). We assessed misfolded α-synuclein (AS) by RT-QuIC assay, amyloid-beta peptides (Aβ42 and Aβ40), phosphorylated tau (p-tau), and total tau (t-tau) by CLEIA and neurofilament light chain (NfL) by ELISA. We detected AS in 75.3% of patients, pathologically decreased Aβ42/Aβ40 ratio in 22.5%, increased p-tau in 15.5%, increased t-tau in 14.9%, and elevated NfL in 14.7%. After a mean follow-up of 2.48 ± 2.75 years, 47 (38.1%) patients developed PD (n = 24) or DLB (n = 23). At CSF collection, AS positivity [HR 4.05 (1.26–12.99), p = 0.019], mild cognitive impairment [3.86 (1.96–7.61), p

In this paper, we describe VivesDebate-Speech, a corpus of spoken argumentation created to leverage audio features for argument mining tasks. The creation of this corpus represents an important contribution to the intersection of speech processing and argument mining communities, and one of the most complete publicly available resources in this topic. Moreover, we have performed a set of first-of-their-kind experiments which show an improvement when integrating audio features into the argument mining pipeline. The provided results can be used as a baseline for future research., Comment: 5 pages; EMNLP 2023 Accepted Version

Abstract Objective: The aim of this study is to compare stigmatizing attitudes, reported and intended behavior, and knowledge of mental illness between university students and the general population. Methods: An online cross-sectional observational study was conducted. The survey included sociodemographic data and validated stigma questionnaires (the Attribution Questionnaire [AQ-27], the Reported and Intended Behaviour Scale [RIBS], and the Mental Health Knowledge Schedule [MAKS]). Descriptive statistics, bivariate analyses, and multiple regression modeling were employed to analyze the data. Results: A total of 506 participants completed the survey, including 226 (44.7%) university students (61.1% women), and 280 (55.3%) individuals from the general population (69.3% women). For both groups, women and individuals who had lived with someone with mental health problems exhibited more positive attitudes (p < 0.05). University students reported greater knowledge of mental illness (p < 0.05) than the general population. After controlling for covariates, university students only scored higher than the general population in the blame factor of the AQ-27 (p < 0.05). Additionally, older participants from both groups exhibited higher levels of stigmatizing attitudes compared to those of a younger age. Conclusion: These findings suggest that university students exhibit similar levels of stigmatizing attitudes to the general population. Among both groups, female sex, older age, previous contact with individuals with mental illness, and greater knowledge of mental health are all associated with less stigma toward people with mental illness. Tailored interventions grounded in contact with mental illness have the potential to help reduce stigmatizing attitudes within both groups.

Abstract: Objective: To present five patients with zolpidem-induced sleep-related behavioural disorders. Narcolepsy type 1 (NT1) is caused by a loss of hypocretin/orexin transmission. Risk factors include pandemic 2009 H1N1 influenza A infection and immunization with Pandemrix®. Here, we dissect disease mechanisms and interactions with environmental triggers in a multi-ethnic sample of 6,073 cases and 84,856 controls. We fine-mapped GWAS signals within HLA (DQ0602, DQB1*03:01 and DPB1*04:02) and discovered seven novel associations (CD207, NAB1, IKZF4-ERBB3, CTSC, DENND1B, SIRPG, PRF1). Significant signals at TRA and DQB1*06:02 loci were found in 245 vaccination-related cases, who also shared polygenic risk. T cell receptor associations in NT1 modulated TRAJ*24, TRAJ*28 and TRBV*4-2 chain-usage. Partitioned heritability and immune cell enrichment analyses found genetic signals to be driven by dendritic and helper T cells. Lastly comorbidity analysis using data from FinnGen, suggests shared effects between NT1 and other autoimmune diseases. NT1 genetic variants shape autoimmunity and response to environmental triggers, including influenza A infection and immunization with Pandemrix®.

cataract surgery ,EyeCee One ,intraocular lens ,glaucoma ,intraocular pressure ,Medicine (General) ,R5-920 - Abstract
ObjectiveIn 2022, several cases of ocular hypertension (OHT) related to EyeCee One preloaded IOLs were reported. The aim of this study was to determine the presurgical and surgical variables associated with this response. Methods and analysisAn analysis was conducted on patients who underwent isolated cataract surgery between September 2022 and December 2022 at the Hospital Universitario del Henares. The influence of potential factors was studied using the Kruskal–Wallis test and multiple regression analysis.ResultsA total of 353 cataract surgeries were included in the study. No significant differences between the different IOLs were found related to a change in the IOP on the first postoperative day (p = 0.395), but the change in the IOP after 1 month was higher in the EyeCee One group (p = 0.016). Approximately 6.1% of the patients who received EyeCee One had an IOP increase greater than 10 mmHg, compared to only 0.8% of the patients who received other IOLs. The odds ratio (OR) of experiencing an IOP increase greater than 10 mmHg in the EyeCee One group at the 1-month visit was 7.99 (1.52–41.99). The multiple regression analysis showed that receiving the EyeCee One lens was associated with a 2-mmHg increase in IOP. A previous history of glaucoma or OHT was not associated with greater IOP. Two patients in the EyeCee One group developed severe visual loss.ConclusionPatients who received the EyeCee One IOL experienced significant increases in IOP at the 1-month visit. A small number of patients might suffer visual loss secondary to the rise in IOP.

Nonlinear nanophotonics leverages engineered nanostructures to funnel light into small volumes and intensify nonlinear optical processes with spectral and spatial control. Due to its intrinsically large and electrically tunable nonlinear optical response, graphene is an especially promising nanomaterial for nonlinear optoelectronic applications. Here we report on exceptionally strong optical nonlinearities in graphene-insulator-metal heterostructures, demonstrating an enhancement by three orders of magnitude in the third-harmonic signal compared to bare graphene. Furthermore, by increasing the graphene Fermi energy through an external gate voltage, we find that graphene plasmons mediate the optical nonlinearity and modify the third-harmonic signal. Our findings show that graphene-insulator-metal is a promising heterostructure for optically-controlled and electrically-tunable nano-optoelectronic components.

This preliminary study focuses on the development of a medical image segmentation algorithm based on artificial intelligence for calculating bone growth in contact with metallic implants. %as a result of the problem of estimating the growth of new bone tissue due to artifacts. %the presence of various types of distortions and errors, known as artifacts. Two databases consisting of computerized microtomography images have been used throughout this work: 100 images for training and 196 images for testing. Both bone and implant tissue were manually segmented in the training data set. The type of network constructed follows the U-Net architecture, a convolutional neural network explicitly used for medical image segmentation. In terms of network accuracy, the model reached around 98\%. Once the prediction was obtained from the new data set (test set), the total number of pixels belonging to bone tissue was calculated. This volume is around 15\% of the volume estimated by conventional techniques, which are usually overestimated. This method has shown its good performance and results, although it has a wide margin for improvement, modifying various parameters of the networks or using larger databases to improve training., Comment: 3 pages, 2 figures, MIDL
