Objective: To determine the epidemiological profile of patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus in a teaching unit. Method: In this observational, cross-sectional, and descriptive study, data from the medical records of consultations conducted between February 2020 and May 2022 at an endocrinology outpatient clinic in a teaching unit in Northeast Brazil were evaluated. A descriptive analysis of the data was performed, with percentage values, medians, and interquartile ranges (IQRs) reported. Result: Data were collected from the medical records of 118 patients, and the medical records of 95 patients were used for statistical analysis after the exclusion of records with insufficient data. Seventy patients (73.6%) were female, with a median age of 57 years (IQR 51.5-65), a median body mass index (BMI) of 28.9 kg/m2 (IQR 25.7-33.1) and a median age at diagnosis of 47.5 years (IQR 38-55). The median glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c) and fasting blood glucose levels during follow-up were 7.6% (IQR 6.6-9.7) and 132.8 mg/dL (IQR 113.5-201.7), respectively, and only 36.8% (n=35) of patients were within their HbA1C therapeutic target range. Approximately 73.6% (n=70) of the patients used statins, but only 18 (18.9%) had LDL-c within their therapeutic target range. Twenty-seven patients (28.4%) had kidney dysfunction, either albuminuria or a glomerular filtration rate (GFR) reduction, and 6 of them (22.2%) did not use any nephroprotective medication. Fewer than half of the patients underwent fundoscopy, and 32.5% of them showed some degree of retinopathy. Neuropathy was present in 33 patients (34.7%), with 3 patients (3.16%) presenting with amputations.

Mastering a colour—as such, its ‘domestication’—involves a weft of technological and symbolic relationships encompassed in the human ability to reproduce a visible colour using the techniques of textile dyeing. The Regimento dos panos or Regimento dos trapeiros (‘regulation of fabrics’ or ‘regulation of drapers’), published in 1573 and expanded in 1690, is a document made up of 107 chapters aiming to standardise the various stages of the production chain of woollen goods in Portugal. In the sections relating to the finishing of fabrics, the regulation carefully details the dyeing of the colour black. The main aim of this text is to discuss the four recipes presented in that document. The system presupposed a phase exogenous to the rules, since the fabrics had to be previously dyed blue (‘celestial blues’) by means of successive immersions of the cloth in a vat with indigo. The dyeing itself was achieved by mixing mordants and auxiliaries (alum, tartar, iron sulphate, and tannins) with a red dye (madder). The main conclusion is that the formulae presented do not constitute, in their general principles, a characteristic Portuguese methodology. In addition, the article includes an inventory of the raw materials used for dyeing in the Early Modern Age, produced, through a qualitative method, through cross-reference with other manuscript and printed sources, as well as an interpretation of their social and economic importance, and a systematisation of the types of Portuguese wools.

Abstract Background In hospital settings, dermatology can offer substantial clinical support for the diagnosis and management of skin conditions, reducing morbidity and mortality. Thus, the study aimed to analyze the profile of referrals and consultations performed by the Dermatology Service of the Santa Casa de Misericordia de Porto Alegre, from August 2018 to January 2020. Methods This study is descriptive, quantitative, and retrospective, conducted through data collection and review of medical records and referrals. The variables included were clinical data of referrals, in-patients profiles, dermatological diagnoses, complementary exams, therapeutic conduct, and recommended follow-ups. Results A total of 1020 referrals were analyzed, which resulted in 641 consultations (328 men, 313 women). The most prevalent skin disease groups were ‘Dermatitis and Eczema’ (33.1%) and ‘Other infectious skin diseases (21.8%), while the most frequent ICD-10 were ‘Drug eruptions - L27’ (9.9%) and ‘Other and unspecified dermatitis - L30’ (6.6%). Corticoids were the most recommended treatments (27.7%), followed by antifungals (13.1%). ‘Consultation Discharge’ (44%) and ‘Outpatient’ Dermatology follow-up (27%) were the most frequent causes for ending consultation. Study limitations Among the study limitations, the authors highlight its retrospective nature, with data analysis based on referrals and medical records, which may present inaccurate or incomplete information. In addition to this, the study may demonstrate a certain degree of subjectivity due to the review and interpretation process conducted by the researchers. However, the definition of objective criteria based on previous studies attenuates such possible bias. Furthermore, considering that the Dermatology teams are composed of a preceptor dermatologist and residents, the established diagnoses were not submitted to third-party verification, except in the cases of skin biopsies and cultures. Thus, the professional’s experience and skills may have influenced the dermatological diagnoses. Conclusions These findings underlie the importance of Dermatology in hospital assistance, contributing to the management of a wide range of skin conditions.

ABSTRACT | This study aimed to evaluate the relation between the postural pattern according to the Godelieve Denys-Struyf (GDS) method with postpartum depression and pain in immediate postpartum women. A cross-sectional study was conducted, including 29 women at 1–3 postpartum days. The Edinburgh Postnatal Depression Scale (EPDS) assessed depression and Visual Numerical Scale assessed pain score (from 0=no pain to 10=the most intense pain). Postural pattern was categorized into groups according to the deviation plane: axial (anteromedial, posteromedial, anteroposterior, and posteroanterior postures) and relational (anterolateral and posterolateral postures) or mixed, considering upper and lower limbs. Participants’ age ranged from 19 to 41 years, body mass index from 21.4 to 43.8 kg/m 2 . The EPDS scored from 10 to 26 points. In total, 52% women reported pain, but the pain score was similar among postural pattern groups (p=0.77) and not correlated with EPDS (p=0.88). Women’s postural patterns were: mixed (45%), relational (38%), and axial (17%). EPDS score was higher for relational pattern group than axial group (20.45±1.63 vs 15.00±3.24; p=0.01). In conclusion, the mixed postural pattern was the most frequent. The relational postural pattern group (anterolateral and posterolateral posture) presented a higher depression score than the axial postural pattern group. No association was found between postural patterns and the pain score or between pain and postpartum depression.

In recent years, several efforts have been made to develop tomato cultivars displaying both late blight resistance and good organoleptic fruit quality. Selection indexes are considered the best option to perform genotype selection when many different traits are being considered to select genotypes as close to the desired ideotype as possible. Therefore, this study aimed at selecting late blight-resistant tomato families based on their fruit quality attributes using factor analysis and ideotype-design / best linear unbiased predictor (FAI-BLUP) index. For this purpose, we assessed the fruit quality parameters of 81 F3:5 tomato families previously selected as late blight resistant. The tomato cultivars Thaise, Argos, and Liberty were included in the trial as checks. The experimental arrangement consisted of complete randomized blocks with three replicates. Each plot was formed by five plants, three of which were used in the fruit quality assessment. The quality parameters assessed were fruit diameter, fruit length, fruit color (L, a*, C, and H), fruit firmness, titratable acidity, soluble solids content, hydrogen potential, and SS:TA ratio. Fruit quality data were analyzed using the mixed model methodology via REML/BLUP (restricted residual maximum likelihood / best linear unbiased prediction) to obtain BLUPs that were further subjected to the FAI-BLUP selection index. The FAI-BLUP was efficient in selecting late blight-resistant tomato genotypes based on their fruit quality attributes. Fourteen tomato families were classified as closest to the desirable ideotype for fruit quality. These genotypes should move on to the following stages of the tomato breeding program.

During pregnancy, biomechanical changes are observed due to hormonal and physical modifications, which can lead to alterations in the curvature of the spine, balance, gait patterns, and functionality of the pelvic floor muscles. This study aimed to investigate the progressive impact of biomechanical changes that occur during gestational weeks on the myoelectric activity of the pelvic floor muscles, plantar contact area, and functional mobility of high-risk pregnant women. Methods: This was a cross-sectional observational study carried out from November 2022 to March 2023. A total of 62 pregnant women of different gestational ages with high-risk pregnancies were analyzed using surface electromyography to assess the functionality of the pelvic floor muscles, plantigraphy (Staheli index and plantar contact area), and an accelerometer and gyroscope using the timed up and go test via an inertial sensor on a smartphone. Descriptive statistics and multivariate linear regression analyses were carried out to test the predictive value of the signature. Results: Increasing weeks of gestation resulted in a decrease in the RMS value (β = −0.306; t = −2.284; p = 0.026) according to the surface electromyography analyses. However, there was no association with plantar contact (F (4.50) = 0.697; p = 0.598; R2 = 0.53). With regard to functional mobility, increasing weeks of gestation resulted in a decrease in time to standing (β = −0.613; t = −2.495; p = 0.016), time to go (β = −0.513; t = −2.264; p = 0.028), and first gyrus peak (β = −0.290; t = −2.168; p = 0.035). However, there was an increase in the time to come back (β = 0.453; t = 2.321; p = 0.025) as the number of gestational weeks increased. Conclusions: Increased gestational age is associated with a reduction in pelvic floor myoelectric activity. The plantar contact area did not change over the weeks. Advancing gestation was accompanied by a decrease in time to standing, time to go, and first gyrus peak, as well as an increase in time to come back.

As life expectancy increases, the number of people affected by cancer is increasing. The available drugs still cause several adverse reactions, and it is important to look for less toxic drugs that act on resistant cancers. The present study evaluated the antitumor potential of acetogenins. Through a literature review, 44 acetogenins isolated from Annona muricata were selected and subjected to in silico studies to predict the physicochemical properties, pharmacokinetics (Preadmet and Admet lab), toxicity (Preadmet and Protox II) and molecular docking in caspase 3 (DockThor). For muricatacin, a literature review was carried out for antitumor activity and cytotoxicity. Only muricatacin met all physicochemical criteria, while all compounds showed high cutaneous and intestinal absorption (HIA), moderate permeability in Madin-Darby canine kidney and Caco2 cells, strongly bound plasma proteins, freely crossed the blood-brain barrier, inhibited CYP2C19, CYP2C9 and CYP3A4 and have an affinity for CYP3A4, being metabolized by it, an undesirable characteristic for antitumor drugs. All compounds were toxic in at least one model, while compound 28 was not carcinogenic in rats and mice. Compounds 13, 14, 15, 16, 17 and 28 were selected for molecular docking into Caspase 3. Docking showed hydrophobic interactions, hydrogen and covalent bonds performed to maintain the stability of caspase 3, and cis-uvariamicin IV stood out more through the energies and chemical bonds of this parameter. The chloroform fraction from the methanolic extract of the seeds showed activity against triple-negative breast cancer, both in vitro and in vivo, and only muricatacin has studies in which the antitumor activity was evaluated in vitro and showed to be very promising. In summary, muricatacin and cis-uvariamicin IV appear to be very promising as antitumors, especially cis-uvariamicin IV.

ABSTRACT Locked-in syndrome is a neurological condition characterized by tetraplegia, mutism, preservation of vertical eye movement, superior eyelid movement, and intact consciousness, making it impossible for the patient to communicate properly. We herein describe a case to analyze the practice of developing a method of communication for a patient with locked-in syndrome. Two communication boards were created, adapted to the Portuguese language, as well as a shortcut to inquire about the physical and emotional patient’s well-being. We had difficulty with the initial communication board, due to the patient’s low education level, so we adapted a new one to the patient’s social context, including a shortcut to inquire about physical and emotional well-being. The communication board had a positive impact on treatment development and the patient’s life.

Abstract The structure of urban secondary forests and their potential for meliponiculture in the eastern Amazon was studied in the municipality of Belterra, Pará. The sampling was carried out in 25 plots of 40 m2 in two areas (0.1 ha) of secondary forests (SF), in which three classes of DBH values were considered (C1:1 cm ≤ DBH ≤ 5 cm; C2: 5 cm < DBH ≤ 10 cm and C3: DBH ≥ 10 cm). a total of 230 individuals were registered in SF I, comprising 66 species and 27 botanical families and 185 individuals in SF II, comprising 43 species distributed in 24 botanical families. The highest richness and abundance were verified for C1, followed by C2 in both areas. In SF I, the basal area values (G=1.509) were higher than in SF II, while the total volume (V=20.21) was higher than SF I, the mean height for C3 was higher in SF II, and C1 and C2 were higher in SF I. The Shannon-Wiener diversity index was higher in SF I (H = 3.722) than in SF II (H=3.197). It was observed that 75% species have bee pollination systems (mellitophilous flora) and are thus considered sources of honey resources.

Human excreta can be used as biofertilizers due to their nutrient and organic matter content. Nevertheless, the behavior of microorganisms should be investigated, as enteric pathogens can accumulate in the soil. Therefore, we evaluated the survival and transport of two enteric bacteria (E. coli and Salmonella enterica) and two enteric virus surrogates (MS2 and ΦX-174 bacteriophages) when applied as contaminants of four biofertilizers on Lactuca sativa production. The study was carried out in lysimeters outdoors with repacked silt loam soil, using a randomized block design (RBD) with six treatments and three replicates. Biofertilizers were urea-treated feces, feces composted with organic waste, stored liquid urine, and struvite and were inoculated at 106–107 cfu/pfu g−1 of E. coli and bacteriophages strains and 107–109 of S. enterica. Soil amended with composted feces exhibited the lowest decimal reductions (T90) for the microorganisms evaluated, with 10.2 days for E. coli, 11.9 days for S. enterica, 22.2 days for MS2, and 3.7 days for ΦX-174. Urea-treated feces temporarily hindered the growth and survival of E. coli and S. enterica in the soil. However, both bacteria were present after one month, while MS2 showed a stable concentration with this biofertilizer. E. coli presented a stable behavior when applied with urine, whereas MS2 was stable with urea-treated feces, urine, and struvite. ΦX-174 and S. enterica were not considered good representatives of most resistant enteric pathogens’ behavior in the soil during food production since they were not detected in leachate and showed a rapid die-off in soil. E. coli leached faster and in higher concentrations than MS2, which presented higher concentrations in deeper soil layers, from 10 to 20 cm. Therefore, using urine, struvite, and urea-treated faces implied a higher chance of infection, as a decimal reduction time was not observed during the 36 days of the experiment. As a result, in short-term cultures, it is recommended that additional hygiene barriers are taken to avoid infection since E. coli and MS2 were still detected at the end of the experiment. An interval of 90 days between fertilizing and harvesting is recommended to prevent pathogen infection. These results are the basis for a quantitative risk assessment of human excreta-based biofertilizers for food production.

ABSTRACT The use of support devices may facilitate the perception of pelvic floor muscle (PFM) contraction, which is difficult to be performed. Therefore, this study aimed to compare the perception of PFM contraction in the sitting position during the use of two different support devices on women with PFM dysfunction. This is a cross-sectional study performed with 37 women with stress or mixed urinary incontinence (UI). All women performed three free PFM contractions sitting on a chair, followed by three contractions using each support device (sand pads and a cylindrical foam, which provide sciatic and perineal support, respectively). Women scored the perception of PFM contraction from 1 to 5, as well as the perception of facilitation of contraction (higher grades show better results) and discomfort (higher grades show more discomfort) when compared with free contraction. The cylindrical foam presented similar results to sand pads for the perception of PFM contraction (2.84±1.61 vs. 3.19±1.43; p=0.34) and facilitation of contraction (3.38±1.34 vs. 3.19±1.54; p=0.61), as well as for their discomfort (1.83±1.23 vs. 1.5±1.16; p=0.20). Of all women, 57% preferred sand pads. Thus, both sand pads (sciatic support) and the cylindrical foam (perineal support) improved the perception of PFM contraction and facilitation of contraction in the sitting position of women with PFM dysfunction when compared with sitting with no device. The two devices presented no difference between them.

ABSTRACT Traditional germination tests which assess seed quality are costly and time-consuming, mainly when performed on a large scale. In this study, we assessed the efficiency of X-ray imaging analyses in predicting the physiological quality of tomato seeds. A convolutional neural network (CNN) called mask region convolutional neural network (MaskRCNN) was also tested for its precision in adequately classifying tomato seeds into four seed quality categories. For this purpose, X-ray images were taken of seeds of 49 tomato genotypes (46 Solanum pennellii introgression lines) from two different growing seasons. Four replicates of 25 seeds for each genotype were analyzed. These seeds were further assessed for germination and seedling vigor-related traits in two independent trials. Correlation analysis revealed significant linear association between germination and image-based variables. Most genotypes differed in terms of germination and seed development performance considering the two independent trials, except LA 4046, LA 4043, and LA4047, which showed similar behavior. Our findings point out that seeds with low opacity and percentage of damaged seed tissue and high values for living tissue opacity have greater physiological quality. In short, our work confirms the reliability of X-ray imaging and deep learning methodologies in predicting the physiological quality of tomato seeds.

Abstract: Processing consists of sequential operations aimed at cleaning, classifying, and treating seeds, with the goal of improving the quality of the lot. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of the processing stages on the physical and physiological quality of chickpea seeds, cultivar BRS Cícero. Seeds were sampled before processing and after passing through the air screen machine (upper sieve of 12 mm and lower sieve of 7.5 mm), elevators, storage silo, and gravity table (upper discharge, high intermediate, low intermediate, and lower discharge). The seeds were evaluated for moisture content, physical purity, germination test, electrical conductivity test, emergence in sand, emergence speed index, accelerated aging, and tetrazolium test. The processing resulted in increased physical purity and reduced percentage of broken seeds in the lot of chickpea seeds. Seeds collected from the upper and intermediate chutes of the gravity table showed higher germination values. Seed processing using the air screen machine and the gravity table is effective in improving the physical and physiological quality of the lot of chickpea seeds, cultivar BRS Cícero.

This study presents a qualitative analysis of endangered species occurrences in conservation units of Rio de Janeiro, one of the largest Brazilian municipalities in population size. Increasing human activities trigger changes in biodiversity, promote fragmentation, and reduce species distribution ranges, which can ultimately lead to declines in population sizes. One of the main goals of protected areas (PAs), such as conservation units, is to protect and conserve biodiversity. Here, we compiled all vascular plant species recorded within Rio de Janeiro PAs by consulting the Reference Center for Environmental Information (SpeciesLink), Flora do Brasil (2020), and primary data records contained in management plans. We compared this compilation with the list of Brazilian endangered plant species, verifying whether the management plans presented specific programs for these species. Of the 60 surveyed PAs, 24 had records of endangered species and only 17 had management plans, 14 of which had a specific program that contemplated the monitoring and/or conservation of endangered species. A total of 70 endangered species were recorded. The highest numbers of endangered species were found in the Tijuca National Park (41) and the Pedra Branca State Park (17), the two largest PAs with the two largest forest fragments. Despite the high number of endangered species and the number of protected areas that harbor them, few internal programs address endangered species conservation and management. Thus, efforts to maintain endangered species in protected areas can be aided by field data collections that confirm their occurrence and maintenance in these PAs.

Abstract Background Dental caries is the most common non transmissible chronic disease in childhood and the control of dental biofilm in children is one of the greatest challenges in oral disease prevention. Digital media applications can help patients in improving their oral hygiene performance and reducing the number of appointments due to pain and discomfort reasons. This study aims to investigate the use of an smartphone application (WhatsApp) to deliver oral health education to mother-child pairs, with the ultimate goal of controlling dental biofilm and caries through digital activities focused on oral hygiene. Methods This study was designed as a randomized, double-blind, parallel clinical trial involving 100 pairs of mothers and children (6–12 years old). The mothers and children will be randomly allocated to the control group (n = 50 pairs), who will receive a single visit conventional oral health education, or to the experimental group (n = 50 pairs), who will receive both a single visit conventional oral health education and educational videos through WhatsApp Messenger, twice a week. Before randomization of the groups and after the intervention, pairs will be evaluated regarding to plaque index (VPI), gingival bleeding index (GBI), and number of decayed, missing and filled permanent or primary teeth (DMF-T) modified by the inclusion of active non-cavitated carious lesions (Nyvad criteria). Socioeconomic data, dental history, and oral health literacy will obtained using questionnaires (Oral Health Literacy Assessment Task for Paediatric Dentistry; BOHLAT-P). Chi-square, Student’s t-test, paired Student’s t-test, Mann-Whitney, and Friedman tests will be used with a 5% significance level. Discussion This intervention proposal is designed to motivate behavioral change in mother-child pairs. We hypothesize that adding digital media to traditional oral health programs will provoke improvements in oral hygiene behavior and health outcomes. To our knowledge, this is the first study evaluating the effect of educational videos communicated by digital media (WhatsApp) on the oral health of mother-child pairs evaluated by long-term dental examinations. In addition, we will assess the maternal level of comprehension of the provided information via a literacy assessment tool. The clinical trial is registered at the Brazilian Registry of Clinical Trials (No. RBR-7s8bw6m).

Objective: to quantify the reasons for referrals of primary care physicians to neurology in Belo Horizonte, Brazil. Method: cross-sectional study evaluating referrals from Primary Care to the specialty of Neurology in Belo Horizonte, registered in the NOVO SISREG regulatory system, from March 2019 to July 2020. Neurologists or family physicians from the Regula Mais Brasil project, with experience in referral protocols for neurology, carried out the evaluation of the main diagnoses. Results: 13,844 referrals to neurology were identified, with an average of 814.35 referrals per month. Headache, epilepsy and cerebrovascular disorders were the most common reasons, accounting for 55.5% of referrals. Other neurological conditions identified less frequently were parkinsonism, tremor, syncope and vertigo, responsible for 10.9% of referrals. Conclusion: most referrals did not prioritize only neurology expertise. It is possible that cultural aspects and the routine of physicians, health services and the community itself determined these referrals, raising awareness about the high demand, waiting time and possible clinical conditions that are soon ceasing to be managed by other specialties that also share these skills.

Guarapari, a municipality of the state of Espírito Santo, Brazil, reported higher mortality rates for the most common cancers from 1996 to 2000. This municipality has beaches with high natural radioactivity. To verify whether this excessive cancer mortality rate still exist in Guarapari, mortality rates for all causes, cancers, and the most prevalent cancers in this municipality were studied from 2000 to 2018 and compared with those observed in the state. Data on all-cause mortality, all-cancer mortality, and mortality from cancer of the esophagus, stomach, larynx, trachea, bronchi and lung, prostate, breast, and leukemias were collected in Brazilian Health Informatics Department (DATASUS) from 2000 to 2018. Mortality rates were calculated by direct method. Standardized age-adjusted rates (SAAR) were calculated based on standard of the World Health Organization (WHO) world population. Crude mortality rates were calculated for each municipality and SAAR for the state and nine municipalities where natural radioactivity was evaluated. Mortality rates from all causes, all cancers, and different cancers observed in Guarapari did not differ significantly from those observed in the state or municipalities with more than 100,000 inhabitants. Radioactivity levels and mortality rates showed no correlation in nine municipalities where natural radioactivity was known. In conclusion, results showed that mortality from cancer and all causes in Guarapari did not differ from those observed in the state and that there was no correlation between the levels of natural radioactivity and mortality from cancer in areas where natural radioactivity was evaluated.

Abstract Social isolation due to the global pandemic influenced not only the way how people interact, but it also brought a huge impact on the population’s mental health, regardless of their age. This study aimed to evaluate the intensity of symptoms of depression and anxiety, perceived stress, levels of loneliness, and psychological well-being in the elderly during social distancing due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The study included 86 elderlies, aged 60 to 90 years old (M=70.95; SD=7.08), living in the southern region of the country. They were interviewed by a WhatsApp video call and responded about symptoms of stress, anxiety, loneliness, depression, and positive mental health. The results showed that 55.8% had high stress symptoms, 18.6% anxiety symptoms, 16.3% depression symptoms, and 5.82% moderate to severe loneliness. It was found that participants who felt more alone had lower well-being scores.

This paper aims to perform a systematic review, with a bibliometric approach, of the techno-economic evaluation studies of hydrogen production. To achieve this objective, a comprehensive outline of hydrogen production processes from fossil and renewable sources is presented. The results reveal that electrolysis, classified as water splitting, is the most investigated process in the literature since it contributes to a reduction in greenhouse gas emissions and presents other advantages, such as maturity and applicability, energy efficiency, flexibility, and energy storage potential. In addition, the processes of gasification, classified as thermochemical, and steam reforming, classified as catalytic reforming, are worth mentioning. Regarding the biological category, there is a balance between research on photo fermentation and dark fermentation. The literature on the techno-economic evaluation of hydrogen production highlights significant gaps, including a scarcity of comprehensive studies, a lack of emphasis on commercial viability, an absence of sensitivity analysis, and the need for comparative analyses between production technologies.

Abstract Introduction The influence of burnout, academic engagement, and their interaction in dropout intention among medical students should be further studied. Current research shows its consequences are relevant, however, there is little understanding on burnout and academic engagement moderation in dropout intention. The current study tested a model that relates the effects of coping strategies, social support satisfaction, general distress on academic engagement, burnout, and dropout intention, on medical students. Methods Through an online survey a non-probabilistic sample of one Medical Faculty's 1st- and 2nd-year students was recruited. Cross-sectional data were collected using psychometric instruments (Maslach Burnout Inventory – Student Survey, Social Support Satisfaction Scale for College Students, Brief COPE Scale for College Students, University Student Engagement Inventory, and Depression, Anxiety and Stress Scale), sociodemographic and academic variables, and analyzed using structural equation modeling. Results 532 students (76% response rate) enrolled in the study. Latent variables structural model presented a satisfactory fit to the data and confirmed the expected negative path between burnout and dropout intention (β DI
