The XXX spin-$\frac{1}{2}$ Heisenberg chain with non-diagonal boundary fields represents a cornerstone model in the study of integrable systems with open boundaries. Despite its significance, solving this model exactly has remained a formidable challenge due to the breaking of $U(1)$ symmetry. Building on the off-diagonal Bethe Ansatz (ODBA), we derive a set of nonlinear integral equations (NLIEs) that encapsulate the exact spectrum of the model. For $U(1)$ symmetric spin-$\frac{1}{2}$ chains such NLIEs involve two functions $a(x)$ and $\bar{a}(x)$ coupled by an integration kernel with short-ranged elements. The solution functions show characteristic features for arguments at some length scale which grows logarithmically with system size $N$. For the non $U(1)$ symmetric case, the equations involve a novel third function $c(x)$, which captures the inhomogeneous contributions of the $T$-$Q$ relation. The kernel elements coupling this function to the standard ones are long-ranged and lead for the ground-state to a winding phenomenon. In $\log(1+a(x))$ and $\log(1+\bar a(x))$ we observe a sudden change by $2\pi$i at a characteristic scale $x_1$ of the argument. Other features appear at a value $x_0$ which is of order $\log N$. These two length scales, $x_1$ and $x_0$, are independent: their ratio $x_1/x_0$ is large for small $N$ and small for large $N$. Explicit solutions to the NLIEs are obtained numerically for these limiting cases, though intermediate cases ($x_1/x_0 \sim 1$) present computational challenges. Despite progresses in data engineering, there are areas with limited consistencies across data validation and documentation procedures causing confusions and technical problems in research involving machine learning. There have been progresses by introducing frameworks like "Datasheets for Datasets", however there are areas for improvements to prepare datasets, ready for ML pipelines. Here, we extend the framework to "Datasheets for AI and medical datasets - DAIMS." Our publicly available solution, DAIMS, provides a checklist including data standardization requirements, a software tool to assist the process of the data preparation, an extended form for data documentation and pose research questions, a table as data dictionary, and a flowchart to suggest ML analyses to address the research questions. The checklist consists of 24 common data standardization requirements, where the tool checks and validate a subset of them. In addition, we provided a flowchart mapping research questions to suggested ML methods. DAIMS can serve as a reference for standardizing datasets and a roadmap for researchers aiming to apply effective ML techniques in their medical research endeavors. While machine learning offers diverse techniques suitable for exploring various medical research questions, a cohesive synergistic framework can facilitate the integration and understanding of new approaches within unified model development and interpretation. We therefore introduce the Medical Artificial Intelligence Toolbox (MAIT), an explainable, open-source Python pipeline for developing and evaluating binary classification, regression, and survival models on tabular datasets. MAIT addresses key challenges (e.g., high dimensionality, class imbalance, mixed variable types, and missingness) while promoting transparency in reporting (TRIPOD+AI compliant). Offering automated configurations for beginners and customizable source code for experts, MAIT streamlines two primary use cases: Discovery (feature importance via unified scoring, e.g., SHapley Additive exPlanations - SHAP) and Prediction (model development and deployment with optimized solutions). Moreover, MAIT proposes new techniques including fine-tuning of probability threshold in binary classification, translation of cumulative hazard curves to binary classification, enhanced visualizations for model interpretation for mixed data types, and handling censoring through semi-supervised learning, to adapt to a wide set of data constraints and study designs. We analyze the Google matrix of directed networks of Wikipedia articles related to 8 recent Wikipedia language editions representing different cultures (English, Arabic, German, Spanish, French, Italian, Russian, Chinese). Using the reduced Google matrix algorithm we determine relations and interactions of 23 society concepts and 17 religions represented by their respective articles for each of the 8 editions. The effective Markov transitions are found to be more intense inside the two blocks of society concepts and religions while transitions between the blocks are significantly reduced. We establish 5 poles of influence for society concepts (Law, Society, Communism, Liberalism, Capitalism) as well as 5 poles for religions (Christianity, Islam, Buddhism, Hinduism, Chinese folk religion) and determine how they affect other entries. We report measurements of ten custom-made high-homogeneity LYSO crystals. The investigation is motivated by the need for a compact, high-resolution, and fast electromagnetic calorimeter for a new rare pion decay experiment. Each $2.5\times 2.5 \times 18$ cm$^3$ crystal was first characterized for general light yield properties and then its longitudinal response uniformity and energy resolution were measured using low-energy gamma sources. The ten crystals were assembled as an array and subjected to a 30 - 100 MeV positron beam with excellent momentum definition. The energy and timing resolutions were measured as a function of energy, and the spatial resolution was determined at 70 MeV. An additional measurement using monoenergetic 17.6 MeV gammas produced through a p-Li resonance was later made after the photosensors used in positron testing were improved. As an example of the results, the energy resolution at 70 MeV of 1.52 $\pm$ 0.03% is more than two times better than reported results using previous generation LYSO crystals., Comment: Minor editorial revision and additional table of manufacturer measurements

We realize all irreducible unitary representations of the group $\mathrm{SO}_0(n+1,1)$ on explicit Hilbert spaces of vector-valued $L^2$-functions on $\mathbb{R}^n\setminus\{0\}$. The key ingredient in our construction is an explicit expression for the standard Knapp-Stein intertwining operators between arbitrary principal series representations in terms of the Euclidean Fourier transform on a maximal unipotent subgroup isomorphic to $\mathbb{R}^n$. As an application, we describe the space of Whittaker vectors on all irreducible Casselman-Wallach representations. Moreover, the new realizations of the irreducible unitary representations immediately reveal their decomposition into irreducible representations of a parabolic subgroup, thus providing a simple proof of a recent result of Liu-Oshima-Yu., Comment: 27 pages

A novel method to reconstruct the energy of hadronic showers in the CMS High Granularity Calorimeter (HGCAL) is presented. The HGCAL is a sampling calorimeter with very fine transverse and longitudinal granularity. The active media are silicon sensors and scintillator tiles readout by SiPMs and the absorbers are a combination of lead and Cu/CuW in the electromagnetic section, and steel in the hadronic section. The shower reconstruction method is based on graph neural networks and it makes use of a dynamic reduction network architecture. It is shown that the algorithm is able to capture and mitigate the main effects that normally hinder the reconstruction of hadronic showers using classical reconstruction methods, by compensating for fluctuations in the multiplicity, energy, and spatial distributions of the shower's constituents. The performance of the algorithm is evaluated using test beam data collected in 2018 prototype of the CMS HGCAL accompanied by a section of the CALICE AHCAL prototype. The capability of the method to mitigate the impact of energy leakage from the calorimeter is also demonstrated.

The finite-size spectrum of the critical staggered six-vertex model with antidiagonal boundary conditions is studied. Similar to the case of periodic boundary conditions, we identify three different phases. In two of those, the underlying conformal field theory can be identified to be related to the twisted $U(1)$ Kac-Moody algebra. In contrast, the finite size scaling in the third regime, whose critical behaviour with the (quasi-)periodic BCs is related to the 2d black hole CFTs possessing a non-compact degree of freedom, is more subtle. Here with antidiagonal BCs imposed, the corrections to the scaling of the ground state grow logarithmically with the system size, while the energy gaps appear to close logarithmically. Context: MATISSE, the mid-infrared spectro-imaging instrument of VLTI, was designed to deliver its advertised performance when paired with an external second generation fringe tracker. Science observation started in 2019, demonstrating imaging capabilities and faint science target observations. Now, The GRAVITY fringe tracker stabilizes the MATISSE fringes which allows using all spectroscopic modes and improves sensitivity and data accuracy. Aims: We present how the MATISSE and GRAVITY instruments were adapted to make the GRAVITY fringe tracker work with MATISSE, under the umbrella of the aptly-named GRA4MAT project, led by ESO in collaboration with the two instrument consortia. Methods: We detail the software modifications needed to implement an acquisition and observing sequence specific to GRA4MAT, including simultaneous fringe tracking and chopping and a narrow off-axis capability inspired by the galactic center and exoplanet capability of GRAVITY. We explain the modified data collection and reduction processes. We show how we leveraged the recent fringe tracker upgrade to implement features specific to its use with MATISSE, e.g. fringe jumps mitigation with an improved group delay control and simultaneous fringe tracking and chopping with a new state machine. Results: We successfully demonstrate significant improvements to the MATISSE instrument. Observations can now be performed at higher spectral resolutions of up to $R\sim3300$ and across the full LM bands at once. Long detector integration times, made possible with stabilized fringes, have improved the LM-bands sensitivity by a factor of 10. Low flux biases in coherently-reduced N-band data have been eliminated. The L-band transfer function is now higher and more stable. We finally illustrate the scientific potential of GRA4MAT with a preview of the first exoplanet observation made by MATISSE on $\beta$ Pictoris b., Comment: Revised after language editing

The pair of real reductive groups $(G,H)=(\operatorname{GL}(n+1,\mathbb{R}),\operatorname{GL}(n,\mathbb{R}))$ is a strong Gelfand pair, i.e. the multiplicities $\dim\operatorname{Hom}_H(\pi|_H,\tau)$ are either $0$ or $1$ for all irreducible Casselman-Wallach representations $\pi$ of $G$ and $\tau$ of $H$. This paper is concerned with the construction of explicit intertwining operators in $\operatorname{Hom}_H(\pi|_H,\tau)$, so-called symmetry breaking operators, in the case where both $\pi$ and $\tau$ are principal series representations. Such operators come in families that depend meromorphically on the induction parameters, and we show how to normalize them in order to make the parameter dependence holomorphic. This is done by establishing explicit Bernstein-Sato identities for their distribution kernels as well as explicit functional identities for the composition of symmetry breaking operators with standard Knapp-Stein intertwining operators for $G$ and $H$. We also show that the obtained normalization is optimal and identify a subset of parameters for which the family of operators vanishes. Finally, we relate the operators to the local archimedean Rankin-Selberg integrals and use this relation to evaluate them on the spherical vectors., Comment: 33 pages

Aims. As part of the ongoing GRAVITY+ upgrade of the Very Large Telescope Interferometer infrastructure, we aim to improve the performance of the GRAVITY Fringe-Tracker, and to enable its use by other instruments. Methods. We modify the group delay controller to consistently maintain tracking in the white light fringe, characterised by a minimum group delay. Additionally, we introduce a novel approach in which fringe-tracking is performed in the non-observable Optical Path Length state-space, using a covariance-weighted Kalman filter and an auto-regressive model of the disturbance. We outline this new state-space representation, and the formalism we use to propagate the state-vector and generate the control signal. While our approach is presented specifically in the context of GRAVITY/GRAVITY+, it can easily be adapted to other instruments or interferometric facilities. Results. We successfully demonstrate phase delay tracking within a single fringe, with any spurious phase jumps detected and corrected in less than 100 ms. We also report a significant performance improvement, as evidenced by a reduction of about 30 to 40% in phase residuals, and a much better behaviour under sub-optimal atmospheric conditions. Compared to what was observed in 2019, the median residuals have decreased from 150 nm to 100 nm on the Auxiliary Telescopes and from 250 nm to 150 nm on the Unit Telescopes. Conclusions. The improved phase-delay tracking combined with whit light fringe tracking means that from now-on, the GRAVITY Fringe-Tracker can be used by other instruments operating in different wavebands. This paper builds on our previous work in which we showed that, for all connected semisimple linear Lie groups $G$ acting on a non-compactly causal symmetric space $M = G/H$, every irreducible unitary representation of $G$ can be realized by boundary value maps of holomorphic extensions in distributional sections of a vector bundle over $M$. In the present paper we discuss this procedure for the connected Lorentz group $G = SO_{1,d}(R)_e$ acting on de Sitter space $M = dS^d$. We show in particular that the previously constructed nets of real subspaces satisfy the locality condition. Following ideas of Bros and Moschella from the 1990's, we show that the matrix-valued spherical function that corresponds to our extension process extends analytically to a large domain $G_C^{cut}$ in the complexified group $G_C = \SO_{1,d}(C)$, which for $d = 1$ specializes to the complex cut plane $C \setminus (-\infinity, 0]$. A number of special situations is discussed specifically: (a) The case $d = 1$, which closely corresponds to standard subspaces in Hilbert spaces, (b) the case of scalar-valued functions, which for $d > 2$ is the case of spherical representations, for which we also describe the jump singularities of the holomorphic extensions on the cut in de Sitter space, (c) the case $d = 3$, where we obtain rather explicit formulas for the matrix-valued spherical functions., Comment: 53pp

We introduce and study a random matrix model of Kolmogorov-Zakharov turbulence in a nonlinear purely dynamical finite size system with many degrees of freedom. For the case of a direct cascade the energy and norm pumping takes place at low energy scales with absorption at high energies. For a pumping strength above a certain chaos border a global chaotic attractor appears with a stationary energy flow through a Hamiltonian inertial energy interval. In this regime, the steady-state norm distribution is described by an algebraic decay with an exponent in agreement with the Kolmogorov-Zakharov theory. Below the chaos border the system is located in the quasi-integrable regime similar to the Kolmogorov-Arnold-Moser theory and the turbulence is suppressed. For the inverse cascade the system rapidly enters a strongly nonlinear regime where the weak turbulence description is invalid. We argue that such a dynamical turbulence is generic showing that it is present in other lattice models with disorder and Anderson localization. For every simple Hermitian Lie group $G$, we consider a certain maximal parabolic subgroup whose unipotent radical $N$ is either abelian (if $G$ is of tube type) or two-step nilpotent (if $G$ is of non-tube type). By the generalized Whittaker Plancherel formula we mean the Plancherel decomposition of $L^2(G/N,\omega)$, the space of square-integrable sections of the homogeneous vector bundle over $G/N$ associated with an irreducible unitary representation $\omega$ of $N$. Assuming that the central character of $\omega$ is contained in a certain cone, we construct embeddings of all holomorphic discrete series representations of $G$ into $L^2(G/N,\omega)$ and show that the multiplicities are equal to the dimensions of the lowest $K$-types. The construction is in terms of a kernel function which can be explicitly defined using certain projections inside a complexification of $G$. This kernel function carries all information about the holomorphic discrete series embedding, the lowest $K$-type as functions on $G/N$, as well as the associated Whittaker vectors., Comment: 18 pages

We study the scaling limit of a statistical system, which is a special case of the integrable inhomogeneous six-vertex model. It possesses $U_q\big(\mathfrak{sl}(2)\big)$ invariance due to the choice of open boundary conditions imposed. An interesting feature of the lattice theory is that the spectrum of scaling dimensions contains a continuous component. By applying the ODE/IQFT correspondence and the method of the Baxter $Q$ operator the corresponding density of states is obtained. In addition, the partition function appearing in the scaling limit of the lattice model is computed, which may be of interest for the study of nonrational CFTs in the presence of boundaries. As a side result of the research, a simple formula for the matrix elements of the $Q$ operator for the general, integrable, inhomogeneous six-vertex model was discovered, that has not yet appeared in the literature. On a finite regular graph, (co)resonant states are eigendistributions of the transfer operator associated to the shift on one-sided infinite non-backtracking paths. We introduce two pairings of resonant and coresonant states, the vertex pairing which involves only the dependence on the initial/terminal vertex of the path, and the geodesic pairing which is given by integrating over all geodesics the evaluation of the coresonant state on the first half of the geodesic times the resonant state on the second half. The main result is that these two pairings coincide up to a constant which depends on the resonance, i.e. the corresponding eigenvalue of the transfer operator., Comment: 41 pages

For a finite graph, we establish natural isomorphisms between eigenspaces of a Laplace operator acting on functions on the edges and eigenspaces of a transfer operator acting on functions on one-sided infinite non-backtracking paths. Interpreting the transfer operator as a classical dynamical system and the Laplace operator as its quantization, this result can be viewed as a quantum-classical correspondence. In contrast to previously established quantum-classical correspondences for the vertex Laplacian which exclude certain exceptional spectral parameters, our correspondence is valid for all parameters. This allows us to relate certain spectral quantities to topological properties of the graph such as the cyclomatic number and the 2-colorability. The quantum-classical correspondence for the edge Laplacian is induced by an edge Poisson transform on the universal covering of the graph which is a tree of bounded degree. In the special case of regular trees, we relate both the vertex and the edge Poisson transform to the representation theory of the automorphism group of the tree and study associated operator valued Hecke algebras., Comment: 46 pages

For a quadratic extension $\mathbb{E}/\mathbb{F}$ of non-archimedean local fields we construct explicit holomorphic families of intertwining operators between principal series representations of $\operatorname{PGL}(2,\mathbb{E})$ and $\operatorname{PGL}(2,\mathbb{F})$, also referred to as symmetry breaking operators. These families are given in terms of their distribution kernels which can be viewed as distributions on $\mathbb{E}$ depending holomorphically on the principal series parameters. For all such parameters we determine the support of these distributions, and we study their mapping properties. This leads to a classification of all intertwining operators between principal series representations, not necessarily irreducible. As an application, we show that every Steinberg representation of $\operatorname{PGL}(2,\mathbb{E})$ contains a Steinberg representation of $\operatorname{PGL}(2,\mathbb{F})$ as a direct summand of Hilbert spaces., Comment: 42 pages

Using the analytic Bethe ansatz, we initiate a study of the scaling limit of the quasi-periodic $D^{(2)}_3$ spin chain. Supported by a detailed symmetry analysis, we determine the effective scaling dimensions of a large class of states in the parameter regime $\gamma\in (0,\frac{\pi}{4})$. Besides two compact degrees of freedom, we identify two independent continuous components in the finite-size spectrum. The influence of large twist angles on the latter reveals also the presence of discrete states. Based on the finite-size analysis of the spectrum of the quantum group invariant deformation of the $OSp(3|2)$ superspin chain we identify the operator content of the conformal field theory describing the model in its scaling limit. We consider a model of an intelligent surfer moving on the Ulam network generated by a chaotic dynamics in the Chirikov standard map. This directed network is obtained by the Ulam method with a division of the phase space in cells of fixed size forming the nodes of a Markov chain. The goal quest for this surfer is to determine the network path from an initial node A to a final node B with minimal resistance given by the sum of inverse transition probabilities. We develop an algorithm for the intelligent surfer that allows to perform the quest in a small number of transitions which grows only logarithmically with the network size. The optimal path search is done on a fractal intersection set formed by nodes with small Erd\"os numbers of the forward and inverted networks. The intelligent surfer exponentially outperforms a naive surfer who tries to minimize its phase space distance to the target B. We propose a fast and generalizable solution to Multi-view Photometric Stereo (MVPS), called MVPSNet. The key to our approach is a feature extraction network that effectively combines images from the same view captured under multiple lighting conditions to extract geometric features from shading cues for stereo matching. We demonstrate these features, termed `Light Aggregated Feature Maps' (LAFM), are effective for feature matching even in textureless regions, where traditional multi-view stereo methods fail. Our method produces similar reconstruction results to PS-NeRF, a state-of-the-art MVPS method that optimizes a neural network per-scene, while being 411$\times$ faster (105 seconds vs. 12 hours) in inference. Additionally, we introduce a new synthetic dataset for MVPS, sMVPS, which is shown to be effective to train a generalizable MVPS method.

Every simple Hermitian Lie group has a unique family of spherical representations induced from a maximal parabolic subgroup whose unipotent radical is a Heisenberg group. For most Hermitian groups, this family contains a complementary series, and at its endpoint sits a proper unitarizable subrepresentation. We show that this subrepresentation is next-to-minimal in the sense that its associated variety is a next-to-minimal nilpotent coadjoint orbit. Moreover, for the Hermitian groups $\operatorname{SO}_0(2,n)$ and $E_{6(-14)}$ we study some branching problems of these next-to-minimal representations., Comment: 21 pages

The goal of this article is to study the branching problem for a holomorphic discrete series representation of the conformal group of a simple Euclidean Jordan algebra $V$ restricted to the subgroup $\operatorname{PSL}_2(\mathbb{R})\times\operatorname{Aut}(V)$ where $\operatorname{Aut}(V)$ denotes the compact group of automorphisms of $V$.
