Resumo Fundamento O tratamento da fibrilação atrial (FA) com ablação por cateter evoluiu significativamente. No entanto, dados do cenário clínico real em desfechos de longo prazo são limitados, particularmente em países de baixa e média renda. Objetivo Este estudo prospectivo, multicêntrico, do tipo coorte de pacientes consecutivos tem como objetivo avaliar a segurança da primeira ablação por cateter da FA na região sudeste do Brazil entre 2009 e 2024. Métodos O desfecho primário foi a recorrência de qualquer taquiarritmia atrial (TAA). O modelo de riscos proporcionais de Cox avaliou preditores independentes de recorrência. Resultados Entre 1043 pacientes (idade média 67,3 ± 11,3 anos, 27,9% mulheres), 75,5% apresentaram FA paroxística. Após um tempo mediano de acompanhamento de 1,4 (1,0 – 3,4) anos, 21,4% apresentaram recorrência de TAA. As taxas de recorrência foram de 18,6% para FA paroxística e de 29,8% para FA persistente; 67,3% dos eventos ocorreram no primeiro ano após a ablação por cateter. Preditores de recorrência foram FA persistente no basal [hazard ratio (HR) 1,57, Intervalo de Confiança (IC) 95% 1,15-2,13; p = 0,004), aumento do diâmetro atrial esquerdo (HR 1,03, IC95% 1,00-1,05; p = 0,033), e escore EHRA de sintomas de FA mais alto (HR 1,60, IC95% 1,18-2,18; p = 0,003). As taxas de recorrência diminuíram ao longo do tempo de acordo com o ano calendário do procedimento, com uma redução de 9% por ano consecutivo (HR 0,91; p < 0,001). Houve uma taxa de 2,1% de ocorrência de eventos adversos relacionados ao procedimento. Conclusão No maior estudo coorte de ablações consecutivas da FA da América Latina, preditores de recorrência de TAA se associaram com estágios mais avançados da FA. As taxas de complicação e de recorrência foram comparáveis às de países de alta renda, destacando a aplicabilidade global da ablação por cateter para o manejo da FA.

ObjectiveTo analyze the influence of lower limb muscle strength and muscle power training on rate of force development (RFD) and peak force (PF) in elderly people with Parkinson's disease (PD), as well as the effect of these training sessions influence on the functional mobility (FM) of this population.MethodsThis was a randomized controlled clinical trial and registered on the virtual platform for registration of experimental and non-experimental studies “Registro Brasileiro de Ensaios Clínicos (ReBEC)”. Thirty four elderly people of both genders without and with PD were divided into four groups: strength training control (GSC, n = 8); potency training control (GPC), n = 9; subjects with PD submitted to strength training (GSPD, n = 8); subjects with PD submitted to potency training (GPPD, n = 9). GSC and GPC consisted of with no history of neurological diseases. PF and RFD in the first 50 and 200 milliseconds (ms) were determined. FM was also assessed using the following tests: gait speed test (GS), Timed Up and Go (TUG), Short Physical Performance Battery (SPPB), Unified Parkinson's Disease Rating Scale (UPDRS); parallel feet on a force platform. Next, the participants underwent lower limbs muscle strength or muscle power training for eight consecutive weeks twice a week and were then re-evaluated.ResultsThe repeated measures ANOVA test showed a significant difference for PF, RFD and FM regardless of training type.ConclusionThe proposed muscle strength and muscle power training protocols influenced the increase in RFD, PF and FM of all participants; however, the increase in RFD in the first 200 ms was more pronounced in the groups submitted to power training and the increase in PF was more pronounced in the groups submitted to strength training.

This case report deals with an ischemic stroke in a 2-year-and-5-month-old child associated with COVID-19. The patient, initially presenting with paresis and facial paralysis, tested positive for the coronavirus. Additional examinations suggest an acute vascular event without apparent risk factors. The discussion highlights the potential relationship between COVID-19 and pediatric ischemic stroke. The case aims to contribute to the understanding of the possible link between COVID-19 and stroke in children, addressing diagnosis, treatment, and potential underlying mechanisms of this association.

Abstract This dataset covers national and subnational non-pharmaceutical interventions (NPI) to combat the COVID-19 pandemic in the Americas. Prior to the development of a vaccine, NPI were governments’ primary tools to mitigate the spread of COVID-19. Variation in subnational responses to COVID-19 is high and is salient for health outcomes. This dataset captures governments’ dynamic, varied NPI to combat COVID-19 for 80% of Latin America’s population from each country’s first case through December 2021. These daily data encompass all national and subnational units in Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Mexico, and Peru. The dataset includes individual and aggregate indices of nine NPI: school closures, work suspensions, public event cancellations, public transport suspensions, information campaigns, local travel restrictions, international travel controls, stay-at-home orders, and restrictions on the size of gatherings. We also collected data on mask mandates as a separate indicator. Local country-teams drew from multiple data sources, resulting in high-quality, reliable data. The dataset thus allows for consistent, meaningful comparisons of NPI within and across countries during the pandemic.

Introduction: The Kelvin–Helmholtz Instability (KHI) is an interface instability that develops between two fluids or plasmas flowing with a common shear layer. KHI occurs in astrophysical jets, solar atmosphere, solar flows, cometary tails, planetary magnetospheres. Two applications of interest, encompassing both space and fusion applications, drive this study: KHI formation at the outer flanks of the Earth’s magnetosphere and KHI growth from non-uniform laser heating in magnetized direct-drive implosion experiments. Here, we study 2D KHI with or without a magnetic field parallel to the flow. We use both the GAMERA code, which solves the compressible Euler equations, and the STRATOSPEC code, which solves the Navier-Stokes equations under the Boussinesq approximation, coupled with the magnetic field dynamics. GAMERA is a global three-dimensional MHD code with high-order reconstruction in arbitrary nonorthogonal curvilinear coordinates, which is developed for a large range of astrophysical applications. STRATOSPEC is a three-dimensional pseudo-spectral code with an accuracy of infinite order (no numerical diffusion). Magnetized KHI is a canonical case for benchmarking hydrocode simulations with extended MHD options.Methods: An objective is to assess whether or not, and under which conditions, the incompressibility hypothesis allows to describe a dynamic compressible system. For comparing both codes, we reach the inviscid incompressible regime, by decreasing the Mach number in GAMERA, and viscosity and diffusion in STRATOSPEC. Here, we specifically investigate both single-mode and multi-mode initial perturbations, either with or without magnetic field parallel to the flow. The method relies on comparisons of the density fields, 1D profiles of physical quantities averaged along the flow direction, and scale-by-scale spectral densities. We also address the triggering, formation and damping of filamentary structures under varying Mach number or Atwood number, with or without a parallel magnetic field.Results: Comparisons show very satisfactory results between the two codes. The vortices dynamics is well reproduced, along with the breaking or damping of small-scale structures. We end with the extraction of growth rates of magnetized KHI from the compressible regime to the incompressible limit in the linear regime assessing the effects of compressibility under increasing magnetic field.Discussion: The observed differences between the two codes are explained either from diffusion or non-Boussinesq effects.

Objetivo: compreender os efeitos da pandemia COVID-19 na Atenção Primária à Saúde dos indígenas, na percepção dos profissionais da saúde. Método: pesquisa exploratória, de abordagem qualitativa. Contou-se com a participação de sete profissionais que atuavam em uma Unidade Básica de Saúde vinculada ao Distrito Sanitário Especial Indígena no Rio Grande do Sul, Brasil. Foram desenvolvidas entrevistas semiestruturadas no primeiro semestre de 2022. A análise dos dados foi norteada pela análise de conteúdo temática. Resultados: os efeitos da COVID-19 na saúde dos indígenas na Atenção Primária envolveram o processo de trabalho na conjuntura pandêmica, cuidado integral à saude da população indígena, saúde mental dos profissionais e dos indígenas. Conclusão: frente aos desafios vividos, destacou-se a eficiência e responsabilidade dos profissionais atuantes na Atenção Primária dos indígenas, desde a vigilância até a reabilitação, para a preservação da saúde dos indivíduos e coletivos.

Sylviocarcinus pictus is a freshwater crab widely distributed across the Amazon basin and coastal basins of northern South America. In the Xingu River basin, Pará, Brazil, the species is found from its middle portion up to the confluence with the Amazon River. This extensive distribution led to questions about the influence of the Volta Grande do Xingu rapids on genetic diversification between populations above and below this area. To explore this hypothesis, 39 mitochondrial gene sequences (COI and 16S rRNA) from 22 samples collected from both areas were analysed in a phylogeographic context. Bayesian Inference and haplotype networks revealed at least two genetically distinct lineages of S. pictus in the Xingu River. The resulting genetic structure found within these populations raised questions about the taxonomic cohesion of the taxon and the potential existence of cryptic species that warrant further investigation. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first molecular study on the genetic structure of a Sylviocarcinus species from the Amazon basin. Given the novelty and the underestimated diversity in this region, we advocate for additional studies on morphological and taxonomic approaches about this taxon to contribute to a future understanding of the evolutionary history of the genus. Objetivou-se avaliar os efeitos do cetorolaco de trometamina a 0,5% e do diclofenaco de sódico a 0,1% sem conservantes na córnea de coelhos. Dezessete coelhos da raça Nova Zelândia foram aleatoriamente divididos em três grupos: o grupo de 0,5% de cetorolaco de trometamina, o grupo de 0,1% de diclofenaco sódico e o grupo controle (0,9% de NaCl). Para cada coelho, os dois olhos foram tratados três vezes ao dia durante 90 dias de acordo com o grupo de tratamento. Os epitélios da córnea foram analisados ​​usando microscopia eletrônica de varredura para observar o número de células claras, cinzas e escuras, o número de criptas e a perda do formato celular hexagonal. A pesquisa apresentada neste artigo consiste em um levantamento arquitetônico das edificações religiosas localizadas nas Superquadras do Plano Piloto de Brasília-DF. A proposta partiu do reconhecimento prévio da ausência de informações a respeito dessa tipologia nos estudos sobre a arquitetura de Brasília e, portanto, da necessidade de investigação e divulgação dessas edificações. A pesquisa se desenvolveu como uma catalogação, apoiada em uma abordagem de cunho descritivo e analítico. Objetivou-se, além do levantamento e da documentação, analisar os princípios e condicionantes que regem as formas e linguagens arquitetônicas dessas edificações. Para tanto, foram feitos levantamentos in loco, com registros fotográficos e anotações, sistematizados por meio de fichas, e consultas aos registros e aos responsáveis pela administração das instituições. Foi mapeado o total de vinte e sete edificações, com datas de construção entre 1958 (período da construção da cidade) até 2007. Os dados registrados abrangem a identificação da edificação e sua localização; o ano de construção; a religião a qual está vinculada; o uso para o qual foi projetada; os responsáveis pelo projeto; reformas significativas; e uma breve descrição formal. Acredita-se, assim, que esse trabalho poderá contribuir com a construção do conhecimento de uma parte da história da arquitetura de Brasília ainda pouco explorada.

Resumo Esta pesquisa tem como objetivo investigar a trajetória da valorização do movimento no desenvolvimento de Jogos Eletrônicos desde a década de 70 até a atualidade. Trata-se de uma pesquisa documental que utilizou como fonte de dados o conteúdo de páginas eletrônicas de corporações comerciais, de sites de notícias de Jogos Eletrônicos e páginas online de jogadores. Os dados indicam que os Jogos Eletrônicos de Movimento lançados no mercado na última década reproduzem princípios de experiências realizadas em diferentes cenários, não sustentando o rótulo de inovação, sendo as principais diferenças a melhoria da qualidade dos acessórios, dos jogos e a minimização dos custos. Resumen Este estudio tiene como objetivo investigar la trayectoria de valoración del movimiento en el desarrollo de juegos electrónicos desde la década de 1970 hasta la actualidad. Se trata de una investigación documental que utilizó como fuente de datos el contenido de sitios web de corporaciones comerciales, sitios de noticias de Juegos Electrónicos y páginas en línea de jugadores. Los datos indican que los Juegos Eletrócnico de Movimiento lanzados al mercado en la última década reproducen principios de experimentos llevados a cabo en diferentes escenarios, no sustentando la etiqueta de innovación, siendo las principales diferencias la mejora de la calidad de los accesorios, los juegos y la minimización de costos. Abstract This research has objective to investigate the trajectory of the valorization of the movement in the development of Electronic Games since the 70's until today. It is a documentary research that used as a data source the content of electronic pages of commercial corporations, of news sites of Electronic Games and online pages of players. The data indicate that the Electronic Movement Games launched on the market in the last decade reproduce principles of experiences carried out in different scenarios, not sustaining the innovation label, the main differences being the improvement of the quality of the accessories, the games and the minimization of costs.

Lateral ankle ligament reconstruction (LALR) is fundamental to avoid instability and the risk of osteoarthritis. After surgery, deficits in muscular strength and the proprioceptive system lead to functional changes. This study aimed to investigate if proprioceptive and isokinetic training can be incorporated to manage a professional soccer player after LALR. A 25-year-old professional soccer player, who injured his right ankle while playing, participated in the study. An MRI revealed partial rupture of the anterior talofibular ligament and associated fracture of the posterolateral distal fibular. Three months after the reconstruction surgery, the participant performed 20 sessions of isokinetic training along with 10 proprioceptive exercises. Outcomes were isokinetic inversion and eversion variables in concentric mode at 60, 120, and 240°/s (during the isokinetic phase – sustained velocity), postural sway (assessed in single-limb stance, using a force platform), and physical function (Foot and Ankle Ability Measure (FAAM) and the Lower Extremity Functional Scale (LEFS)). Post-treatment, the sustained velocity increased by ∼6% and decreased by 3% in the other isokinetic phases in inversion and eversion. At 60°/s, the Peak Torque/Body Mass for the evertor muscle was 30% higher post-treatment. Center of Pressure (CoP) data with eyes open showed a decrease for anteroposterior dispersions and displacement. The FAAM (sports sub-section) and LEFS increased by 15.6 and 9 points, respectively. Isokinetic and proprioceptive training improved postural control parameters, physical function, and inversion and eversion isokinetic variables in a professional soccer player after lateral ligament reconstruction. Estudos demonstram que cuidados com a exposição ao sol adotados desde a infância reduzem o desenvolvimento do câncer de pele. Pesquisas indicam que no ambiente escolar as atividades lúdicas favorecem a obtenção, construção e retenção do conhecimento. Além disso, estas favorecem o desenvolvimento social, pessoal e cultural, facilitando a comunicação e expressão científica. O objetivo desse artigo é relatar a experiência da aplicação do jogo intitulado “Fala sério” ou “Com certeza” sobre câncer de pele, para alunos do ensino fundamental de uma escola pública de Jaguari/RS. A ação foi gravada e o material foi utilizado para a análise dos resultados. Verificou-se que a dinâmica do jogo oportunizou um espaço de discussão e reflexão a respeito das causas, prevenção e importância do diagnóstico precoce do câncer de pele e favoreceu a troca experiências, estimulando a participação ativa dos estudantes na construção do conhecimento. Dessa forma, permitiu aos participantes melhorar seu nível de conhecimento sobre o tema abordado, o que pode interferir em comportamentos mais saudáveis quando expostos ao sol. Sendo assim, o uso de atividades lúdicas contribui de maneira efetiva/transformadora na prática da promoção de saúde, pois poderá despertar nos estudantes a capacidade de desenvolver habilidades e atitudes imprescindíveis para participar ativamente dos acontecimentos na comunidade em que vivem e atuar nas decisões do dia-a-dia, de forma consciente e crítica. Assim, pretende-se contribuir para a redução das taxas de ocorrência e morte por câncer de pele dos alunos, de seus familiares e de toda a comunidade que os cerca. Research indicates that in the school environment, recreational activities promote the acquisition, construction, and retention of knowledge. In addition, these provide social, personal, and cultural development, facilitating communication and scientific expression. The objective of this article is to report the experience of the application of the game entitled Seriously or Certainly about skin cancer, for students of a public school in Jaguari, Rio Grande do Sul State, Brazil. The intervention was recorded and used for the analysis of the results. It was found that the dynamics of the game provided a space for discussion and reflection on the causes, prevention, and importance of early diagnosis of skin cancer. It also supported the exchange of experiences and the encouragement of active participation of students in the construction of knowledge. Thus, the activity allowed the participants to improve their level of knowledge of the proposed theme, which can interfere with healthier behaviors when exposed to the sun. Therefore, the use of playful activities contributes effectively to the practice of health promotion. In addition, it also encourages students to develop the skills and attitudes required to actively participate in events in their community and to act consciously and critically in daily decisions. Thus, it is intended to contribute to reducing the rates of occurrence and death from skin cancer, among students, their families, and the entire community that surrounds them.
