3. Estimation of the Plant Controller Communication Time-Delay Considering PMSG-Based Wind Turbines

The communication control delay between the inverters and the power plant controller can be caused by several factors related to the communication link between them. Under undesirable conditions, high delay values can produce oscillations in the wind power plant that can affect the rest of the power system. In this work, we present a new robust methodology for wind turbines to estimate the value of the communication control delay using PMU data. Several scenarios are considered where external faults are simulated and the performance of the algorithm is evaluated based on dynamic state estimation of the mathematical model of the wind turbine. In this paper, we have shown that the characterization of the delay can be performed offering the transmission system operator an online tool to identify the most suited communication delay for the plant controller models used in dynamic studies.

4. Deep Learning for Motion Classification in Ankle Exoskeletons Using Surface EMG and IMU Signals

Ankle exoskeletons have garnered considerable interest for their potential to enhance mobility and reduce fall risks, particularly among the aging population. The efficacy of these devices relies on accurate real-time prediction of the user's intended movements through sensor-based inputs. This paper presents a novel motion prediction framework that integrates three Inertial Measurement Units (IMUs) and eight surface Electromyography (sEMG) sensors to capture both kinematic and muscular activity data. A comprehensive set of activities, representative of everyday movements in barrier-free environments, was recorded for the purpose. Our findings reveal that Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) slightly outperform Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) networks on a dataset of five motion tasks, achieving classification accuracies of $96.5 \pm 0.8 \%$ and $87.5 \pm 2.9 \%$, respectively. Furthermore, we demonstrate the system's proficiency in transfer learning, enabling accurate motion classification for new subjects using just ten samples per class for finetuning. The robustness of the model is demonstrated by its resilience to sensor failures resulting in absent signals, maintaining reliable performance in real-world scenarios. These results underscore the potential of deep learning algorithms to enhance the functionality and safety of ankle exoskeletons, ultimately improving their usability in daily life.

We present the results of a search for gravitational-wave transients associated with core-collapse supernova SN 2023ixf, which was observed in the galaxy Messier 101 via optical emission on 2023 May 19th, during the LIGO-Virgo-KAGRA 15th Engineering Run. We define a five-day on-source window during which an accompanying gravitational-wave signal may have occurred. No gravitational waves have been identified in data when at least two gravitational-wave observatories were operating, which covered $\sim 14\%$ of this five-day window. We report the search detection efficiency for various possible gravitational-wave emission models. Considering the distance to M101 (6.7 Mpc), we derive constraints on the gravitational-wave emission mechanism of core-collapse supernovae across a broad frequency spectrum, ranging from 50 Hz to 2 kHz where we assume the GW emission occurred when coincident data are available in the on-source window. Considering an ellipsoid model for a rotating proto-neutron star, our search is sensitive to gravitational-wave energy $1 \times 10^{-5} M_{\odot} c^2$ and luminosity $4 \times 10^{-5} M_{\odot} c^2/\text{s}$ for a source emitting at 50 Hz. These constraints are around an order of magnitude more stringent than those obtained so far with gravitational-wave data. The constraint on the ellipticity of the proto-neutron star that is formed is as low as $1.04$, at frequencies above $1200$ Hz, surpassing results from SN 2019ejj., Comment: Main paper: 6 pages, 4 figures and 1 table. The magnetar SGR 1935+2154 is the only known Galactic source of fast radio bursts (FRBs). FRBs from SGR 1935+2154 were first detected by CHIME/FRB and STARE2 in 2020 April, after the conclusion of the LIGO, Virgo, and KAGRA Collaborations' O3 observing run. Here we analyze four periods of gravitational wave (GW) data from the GEO600 detector coincident with four periods of FRB activity detected by CHIME/FRB, as well as X-ray glitches and X-ray bursts detected by NICER and NuSTAR close to the time of one of the FRBs. We do not detect any significant GW emission from any of the events. Instead, using a short-duration GW search (for bursts $\leq$ 1 s) we derive 50\% (90\%) upper limits of $10^{48}$ ($10^{49}$) erg for GWs at 300 Hz and $10^{49}$ ($10^{50}$) erg at 2 kHz, and constrain the GW-to-radio energy ratio to $\leq 10^{14} - 10^{16}$. We also derive upper limits from a long-duration search for bursts with durations between 1 and 10 s. 8. Meta-Analyses and Narrative Review of Home-Based Interventions to Improve Literacy and Mathematics Outcomes for Children between the Ages of 3 and 5 Years Old

- Abstract
The purpose of these meta-analyses was to examine the effectiveness of home-based interventions aimed at improving literacy and mathematics outcomes for preschool-age children (mean age = 4.29 years; range = 3.07-5.32 years) and to develop an understanding of what home-based interventions work in different contexts. A total of 32 studies met the inclusion criteria for these meta-analyses; 30 studies included sufficient data for inclusion in the meta-analyses, and two studies did not contain sufficient quantitative data and instead were summarized in a narrative review. The average weighted effect size for interventions with literacy (d = 0.10; CI = [-0.17, 0.38]; n = 27) and mathematical outcomes (d = 0.18; CI = [-1.62, 1.99]; n = 8) were minimal. Hence, these meta-analyses showed that home-based interventions had minimal effect on literacy and mathematical outcomes for preschoolers. There were more home-based interventions with literacy (N = 28) than mathematical outcomes (N = 10). The heterogeneity showed no variability, indicating that all intervention impacted on children's outcomes to similar effect. Overall, many interventions were relatively light touch (i.e., time spent engaging in parent training), and the engagement requirement of the parent in some studies was minimal (e.g., reading a short text message). More in-depth research into the components of interventions (e.g., focus, training approaches) and evaluation of interventions before they are implemented is essential for ensuring that early interventions will be effective and lead to the development of the intended skills.

Quantum-enhanced machine learning is a rapidly evolving field that aims to leverage the unique properties of quantum mechanics to enhance classical machine learning. However, the practical applicability of these methods remains an open question, particularly in the context of real-world datasets and the limitations of current quantum hardware. This work performs a benchmark study of Quantum Kernel Estimation (QKE) and Quantum Kernel Training (QKT) with a focus on classification tasks. Through a series of experiments, the versatility and generalization capabilities of two quantum feature mappings, namely ZZFeatureMap and CovariantFeatureMap, are analyzed in this context. Remarkably, these feature maps have been proposed in the literature under the conjecture of possible near-term quantum advantage and have shown promising performance in ad-hoc datasets. This study explores both artificial and established reference datasets and incorporates classical machine learning methods, specifically Support Vector Machines (SVMs) and logistic regression, as baseline comparisons. Experimental results indicate that quantum methods exhibit varying performance across different datasets. While they outperform classical methods in ad-hoc datasets, they frequently encounter difficulties in generalizing to unseen test data when dealing with reference classical datasets, even if achieving high classification accuracy on the training data. 10. Inferring firm-level supply chain networks with realistic systemic risk from industry sector-level data

Production networks constitute the backbone of every economic system. They are inherently fragile as several recent crises clearly highlighted. Estimating the system-wide consequences of local disruptions (systemic risk) requires detailed information on the supply chain networks (SCN) at the firm-level, as systemic risk is associated with specific mesoscopic patterns. However, such information is usually not available and realistic estimates must be inferred from available sector-level data such as input-output tables and firm-level aggregate output data. Here we explore the ability of several maximum-entropy algorithms to infer realizations of SCNs characterized by a realistic level of systemic risk. We are in the unique position to test them against the actual Ecuadorian production network at the firm-level. Concretely, we compare various properties, including the Economic Systemic Risk Index, of the Ecuadorian production network with those from four inference models. We find that the most realistic systemic risk content at the firm-level is retrieved by the model that incorporates information about firm-specific input disaggregated by sector, indicating the importance of correctly accounting for firms' heterogeneous input profiles across sectors. Our results clearly demonstrate the minimal amount of empirical information at the sector level that is necessary to statistically generate synthetic SCNs that encode realistic firm-specific systemic risk.

Graphene flake-based dispersions are attractive materials for various applications in microelectronics because of their ease of fabrication and the potential to deposit them on diverse substrates. The integration of these materials into conductive networks and microdevices requires thorough knowledge of their mechanical material properties, including adhesion. This paper presents quantitative adhesion measurements of graphene flake networks on silicon dioxide (SiO${_2}$) via button shear testing (BST). In this method, shear forces are applied to prefabricated micrometric buttons until they delaminate, providing information about the shear strength of the underlying graphene. We applied BST to graphene flake networks with different flake structures and defect densities. Flat flakes, a flat network structure, and a high flake defect density improve adhesion. We further demonstrate that graphene flake networks have stronger adhesion than chemical vapor deposited monolayer graphene grown on copper and transferred to SiO${_2}$. Hexamethyldisilazane (HMDS) increases the total adhesion force by improving flake network formation. Finally, we provide flake-type-specific delamination patterns by combining BST, optical microscopy, and Raman spectroscopy. We establish BST as a quantitative technique for measuring the adhesion of graphene dispersions and show the crucial role of interflake junctions in the overall adhesion of graphene flake networks., Comment: 34 pages

We present results from a search for X-ray/gamma-ray counterparts of gravitational-wave (GW) candidates from the third observing run (O3) of the LIGO-Virgo-KAGRA (LVK) network using the Swift Burst Alert Telescope (Swift-BAT). The search includes 636 GW candidates received in low latency, 86 of which have been confirmed by the offline analysis and included in the third cumulative Gravitational-Wave Transient Catalogs (GWTC-3). Targeted searches were carried out on the entire GW sample using the maximum--likelihood NITRATES pipeline on the BAT data made available via the GUANO infrastructure. We do not detect any significant electromagnetic emission that is temporally and spatially coincident with any of the GW candidates. We report flux upper limits in the 15-350 keV band as a function of sky position for all the catalog candidates. For GW candidates where the Swift-BAT false alarm rate is less than 10$^{-3}$ Hz, we compute the GW--BAT joint false alarm rate. Finally, the derived Swift-BAT upper limits are used to infer constraints on the putative electromagnetic emission associated with binary black hole mergers., Comment: 50 pages, 10 figures, 4 tables

Any continuous curve in a higher dimensional space can be considered a trajectory that can be parameterized by a single variable, usually taken as time. It is well known that a continuous curve can have a fractional dimensionality, which can be estimated using already standard algorithms. However, characterizing a trajectory from an entropic perspective is far less developed. The search for such characterization leads us to use chain coding to discretize the description of a curve. Calculating the entropy density and entropy-related magnitudes from the resulting finite alphabet code becomes straightforward. In such a way, the entropy of a trajectory can be defined and used as an effective tool to assert creativity and pattern formation from a Shannon perspective. Applying the procedure to actual experimental physiological data and modelled trajectories of astronomical dynamics proved the robustness of the entropic characterization in a wealth of trajectories of different origins and the insight that can be gained from its use.

- Abstract
The broad autism phenotype is the phenotypic expression of the primary characteristics of autism. However, currently available tests do not agree with the two-domain operationalization of broad autism phenotype or autism, and their internal structure has shown instability across applications. This study presents the Broad Autism Phenotype--International Test, the first such test designed to target a two-domain operationalization in Spain and the United Kingdom. A broad pilot study was conducted in three community samples, two from Spain (ES1, N = 970; ES2, N = 460) and one from the United Kingdom (N = 530). The Broad Autism Phenotype--International Test consists of 20 items distributed into the SOCIAL-BAP and RIRE-BAP dimensions, representing the seven autistic subdomains. Common factor approaches were used to find a simple and invariant factor structure between countries. The Broad Autism Phenotype--International Test presents full metric invariance between two Spanish samples, partial invariance between countries, and adequate omega reliability estimation. Evidence-based results on the relationships of the SOCIAL-BAP and RIRE-BAP to other variables (the Social Responsiveness Scale-2 and the Broad Autism Phenotype Questionnaire) support the interpretation of its scores for the intended uses. 18. Parents' Views and Experiences of the Home Mathematics Environment: A Cross-Country Study

The purpose of the current study was to qualitatively explore the home mathematical environment across two regions in two different countries (i.e., Cuba and Mexico), replicating a qualitative study previously conducted in Northern Ireland (NI), United Kingdom (Cahoon et al., 2017). Semi-structured interviews with parents/caregivers of children (3- to 5-year-olds) in both Mexico (n = 13) and Cuba (n = 40) were completed to investigate their views, experiences and attitudes towards the home mathematical environment. Thematic analysis was used to explore themes relevant to the home mathematical environment. Three consistent themes were found in the Mexican and Cuban data: Numeracy Environment Structure, Expectations and Attitudes and Views of Technology. Two unique themes were found in the Mexico data: Interactions Related to Reading or Mathematics, and Child's Attitudes in Relation to Mathematics. One unique theme was found in the Cuban interviews: Interactions for Learning. Although diverse themes were identified, consistencies were also observed. This suggests that some home numeracy practices may be universal in nature. This research increases the understanding of human development in context.

After initial tests performed during previous observing runs, a Newtonian Calibrator (NCal) system was developed and installed on the Virgo gravitational wave detector for the O4 observing run. This system, which is continuously operated, provides the absolute calibration of Virgo for this run. Its $1\mbox{-}\sigma$ uncertainty of $0.17\%$ on the amplitudes of the injected signals is better than that obtained with other calibration techniques like the photon calibrator (PCal). Non-Abelian anyons, a promising platform for fault-tolerant topological quantum computation, adhere to the charge super-selection rule (cSSR), which imposes restrictions on physically allowed states and operations. However, the ramifications of cSSR and fusion rules in anyonic quantum information theory remain largely unexplored. In this study, we unveil that the information-theoretic characteristics of anyons diverge fundamentally from those of non-anyonic systems such as qudits, bosons, and fermions and display intricate structures. In bipartite anyonic systems, pure states may have different marginal spectra, and mixed states may contain pure marginal states. More striking is that in a pure entangled state, parties may lack equal access to entanglement. This entanglement asymmetry is manifested in quantum teleportation employing an entangled anyonic state shared between Alice and Bob, where Alice can perfectly teleport unknown quantum information to Bob, but Bob lacks this capability. These traits challenge conventional understanding, necessitating new approaches to characterize quantum information and correlations in anyons. We expect that these distinctive features will also be present in non-Abelian lattice gauge field theories. 21. Temporal Stamp Classifier: Classifying Short Sequences of Astronomical Alerts

In this work, we propose a deep learning-based classification model of astronomical objects using alerts reported by the Zwicky Transient Facility (ZTF) survey. The model takes as inputs sequences of stamp images and metadata contained in each alert, as well as features from the All-WISE catalog. The proposed model, called temporal stamp classifier, is able to discriminate between three classes of astronomical objects: Active Galactic Nuclei (AGN), Super-Novae (SNe) and Variable Stars (VS), with an accuracy of approximately 98% in the test set, when using 2 to 5 detections. The results show that the model performance improves with the addition of more detections. Simple recurrence models obtain competitive results with those of more complex models such as LSTM.We also propose changes to the original stamp classifier model, which only uses the first detection. The performance of the latter model improves with changes in the architecture and the addition of random rotations, achieving a 1.46% increase in test accuracy., Comment: Accepted in International Joint Conference on Neural Networks 2024

The advent of next-generation survey instruments, such as the Vera C. Rubin Observatory and its Legacy Survey of Space and Time (LSST), is opening a window for new research in time-domain astronomy. The Extended LSST Astronomical Time-Series Classification Challenge (ELAsTiCC) was created to test the capacity of brokers to deal with a simulated LSST stream. We describe ATAT, the Astronomical Transformer for time series And Tabular data, a classification model conceived by the ALeRCE alert broker to classify light-curves from next-generation alert streams. ATAT was tested in production during the first round of the ELAsTiCC campaigns. ATAT consists of two Transformer models that encode light curves and features using novel time modulation and quantile feature tokenizer mechanisms, respectively. ATAT was trained on different combinations of light curves, metadata, and features calculated over the light curves. We compare ATAT against the current ALeRCE classifier, a Balanced Hierarchical Random Forest (BHRF) trained on human-engineered features derived from light curves and metadata. When trained on light curves and metadata, ATAT achieves a macro F1-score of 82.9 +- 0.4 in 20 classes, outperforming the BHRF model trained on 429 features, which achieves a macro F1-score of 79.4 +- 0.1. The use of Transformer multimodal architectures, combining light curves and tabular data, opens new possibilities for classifying alerts from a new generation of large etendue telescopes, such as the Vera C. Rubin Observatory, in real-world brokering scenarios.

Visual electrophysiology is often used clinically to determine functional changes associated with retinal or neurological conditions. The full-field flash electroretinogram (ERG) assesses the global contribution of the outer and inner retinal layers initiated by the rods and cone pathways depending on the state of retinal adaptation. Within clinical centers reference normative data are used to compare with clinical cases that may be rare or underpowered within a specific demographic. To bolster either reference or case datasets the application of synthetic ERG waveforms may offer benefits to disease classification and case-control studies. In this study and as a proof of concept, artificial intelligence (AI) to generate synthetic signals using Generative Adversarial Networks is deployed to up-scale male participants within an ISCEV reference dataset containing 68 participants, with waveforms from the right and left eye. Random Forest Classifiers further improved classification for sex within the group from a balanced accuracy of 0.72 to 0.83 with the added synthetic male waveforms. This is the first study to demonstrate the generation of synthetic ERG waveforms to improve machine learning classification modelling with electroretinogram waveforms.

In August 2023, IT experts and scientists came together for a workshop to discuss the possibilities of building a computer cluster fully on renewable energies, as a test-case at Havana University in Cuba. The discussion covered the scientific needs for a computer cluster for particle physics at the InSTEC institute at Havana University, the possibilities to use solar energy, new developments in computing technologies, and computer cluster operation as well as operational needs for computing in particle physics. This computer cluster on renewable energies at the InSTEC institute is seen as a prototype for a large-scale computer cluster on renewable energies for scientific computing in the Caribbean, hosted in Cuba. The project is called "Humboldt Highway", to remember Alexander von Humboldt's achievements in bringing cultures of the American and European continents closer together by exchange and travel. In this spirit, we propose a project that enables and intensifies the scientific exchange between research laboratories and universities in Europe and the Caribbean, in particular Cuba.

We report the observation of a coalescing compact binary with component masses $2.5\text{-}4.5~M_\odot$ and $1.2\text{-}2.0~M_\odot$ (all measurements quoted at the 90% credible level). The gravitational-wave signal GW230529_181500 was observed during the fourth observing run of the LIGO-Virgo-KAGRA detector network on 2023 May 29 by the LIGO Livingston Observatory. The primary component of the source has a mass less than $5~M_\odot$ at 99% credibility. We cannot definitively determine from gravitational-wave data alone whether either component of the source is a neutron star or a black hole. However, given existing estimates of the maximum neutron star mass, we find the most probable interpretation of the source to be the coalescence of a neutron star with a black hole that has a mass between the most massive neutron stars and the least massive black holes observed in the Galaxy. We provisionally estimate a merger rate density of $55^{+127}_{-47}~\text{Gpc}^{-3}\,\text{yr}^{-1}$ for compact binary coalescences with properties similar to the source of GW230529_181500; assuming that the source is a neutron star-black hole merger, GW230529_181500-like sources constitute about 60% of the total merger rate inferred for neutron star-black hole coalescences. The discovery of this system implies an increase in the expected rate of neutron star-black hole mergers with electromagnetic counterparts and provides further evidence for compact objects existing within the purported lower mass gap., Comment: 45 pages (10 pages author list, 13 pages main text, 1 page acknowledgements, 13 pages appendices, 8 pages bibliography), 17 figures, 16 tables. Dynamical systems can be analyzed as computational devices capable of performing information processing. In coupled oscillators, enlarged capabilities are expected when the set of units is formed by subsets with collective behaviour within them but weak correlation between the subsets. A system of non-linear oscillators weakly coupled in the phase approximation is studied. The informational distance maps show different regimes of collective behaviour, ranging from independent, local, and global, as the control parameters of the system are changed. This rich set of behaviours happens despite the simple nature of the model used. Complex hierarchies between oscillators can be identified near the edge of chaos region in the informational distance dendrograms. We identify the emergence of local collective regimes, further corroborated by the spatiotemporal maps. Correlation diagrams also exhibit non-trivial dependence for the system at the edge of chaos.

Coupled non-linear oscillators are ubiquitous in dynamical studies. A wealth of behaviors have been found mostly for globally coupled systems. From a complexity perspective, less studied have been systems with local coupling, which is the subject of this contribution. The phase approximation is used, as weak coupling is assumed. In particular, the so called needle region, in parameter space, for Adler-type oscillators with nearest neighbors coupling is carefully characterized. The reason for this emphasis is that in the border of this region to the surrounding chaotic one, computation enhancement at the edge of chaos has been reported. The present study shows that different behaviors within the needle region can be found, and a smooth change of dynamics could be identified. Entropic measures further emphasize the region's heterogeneous nature with interesting features, as seen in the spatiotemporal diagrams. The occurrence of wave-like patterns in the spatiotemporal diagrams points to non-trivial correlations in both dimensions. The wave patterns change as the control parameters change without exiting the needle region. Spatial correlation is only achieved locally at the onset of chaos, with different clusters of oscillators behaving coherently while disordered boundaries appear between them., Comment: revised version published in PHYSICAL REVIEW E 107, 044212 (2023)

Which surfaces can be realized with two-dimensional faces of the five-dimensional cube (the penteract)? How can we visualize them? In recent work, Aveni, Govc, and Roldan, show that there exist 2690 connected closed cubical surfaces up to isomorphism in the 5-cube. They give a classification in terms of their genus $g$ for closed orientable cubical surfaces and their demigenus $k$ for a closed non-orientable cubical surface. In this paper, we explain the main idea behind the exhaustive search and we visualize the projection to $\mathbb{R}^3$ of a torus, a genus two torus, the projective plane, and the Klein bottle. Among the various candidates for dark matter (DM), ultralight vector DM can be probed by laser interferometric gravitational wave detectors through the measurement of oscillating length changes in the arm cavities. In this context, KAGRA has a unique feature due to differing compositions of its mirrors, enhancing the signal of vector DM in the length change in the auxiliary channels. Here we present the result of a search for $U(1)_{B-L}$ gauge boson DM using the KAGRA data from auxiliary length channels during the first joint observation run together with GEO600. By applying our search pipeline, which takes into account the stochastic nature of ultralight DM, upper bounds on the coupling strength between the $U(1)_{B-L}$ gauge boson and ordinary matter are obtained for a range of DM masses. While our constraints are less stringent than those derived from previous experiments, this study demonstrates the applicability of our method to the lower-mass vector DM search, which is made difficult in this measurement by the short observation time compared to the auto-correlation time scale of DM., Comment: 20 pages, 5 figures

Networked control systems (NCSs), which are feedback control loops closed over a communication network, have been a popular research topic over the past decades. Numerous works in the literature propose novel algorithms and protocols with joint consideration of communication and control. However, the vast majority of the recent research results, which have shown remarkable performance improvements if a cross-layer methodology is followed, have not been widely adopted by the industry. In this work, we review the shortcomings of today's mobile networks that render cross-layer solutions, such as semantic and goal-oriented communications, very challenging in practice. To tackle this, we propose a new framework for 6G user plane design that simplifies the adoption of recent research results in networked control, thereby facilitating the joint communication and control design in next-generation mobile networks.

40. Exhaust Gas Optimization of Modern Scooters by Velocity Control

This paper investigates the optimization of the exhaust gas composition by applying a velocity-controlled Throttle-by-Wire-System on modern 50 cc scooters (Euro 5). Nowadays combustion-powered scooters are still inefficiently restricted, resulting in an unreasonably high fuel consumption and unfavorable exhaust emissions. The velocity control prevents restriction by negatively shifting the ignition timing and regulates the throttle valve opening instead. Injection quantity, engine speed, ignition timing, cylinder wall temperature, exhaust gas temperature, oxygen sensor data, crankshaft position and in-cylinder pressure were acquired to measure engine parameters. At the same time, vehicle data on the CAN bus, such as throttle opening angle, the rider's acceleration command and vehicle velocity were recorded. For determination of the exhaust gas composition, five probes were sensing CO, CO2, NOx, O2 and HC in addition to the temperature and mass flow. A Peugeot Kisbee 50 4T (Euro 5) serves as test vehicle. The original and the optimized restriction were subjected to various gradients on a roller dynamometer at top speed. Thus, a statement can be made about all operating points of restriction. The resistance parameters required, were previously determined in a coast down test. When driving on level ground, a difference of 50% in the throttle opening leads to a 17% improvement in fuel economy. By measuring the engine parameters, optimum ignition timing could be proven with increasing internal cylinder pressure. Further, 17% reduction in exhaust gas flow was demonstrated. CO emissions decreased by a factor of 8.4, CO2 by 1.17 and HC by 2.1 while NOx increased by a factor of 3.

41. Real Evaluations Tractability using Continuous Goal-Directed Actions in Smart City Applications

One of the most important challenges of Smart City Applications is to adapt the system to interact with non-expert users. Robot imitation frameworks aim to simplify and reduce times of robot programming by allowing users to program directly through demonstrations. In classical frameworks, actions are modeled using joint or Cartesian space trajectories. Other features, such as visual ones, are not always well represented with these pure geometrical approaches. Continuous Goal-Directed Actions (CGDA) is an alternative to these methods, as it encodes actions as changes of any feature that can be extracted from the environment. As a consequence of this, the robot joint trajectories for execution must be fully computed to comply with this feature-agnostic encoding. This is achieved using Evolutionary Algorithms (EA), which usually requires too many evaluations to perform this evolution step in the actual robot. Current strategies involve performing evaluations in a simulation, transferring the final joint trajectory to the actual robot. Smart City applications involve working in highly dynamic and complex environments, where having a precise model is not always achievable. Our goal is to study the tractability of performing these evaluations directly in a real-world scenario. Two different approaches to reduce the number of evaluations using EA, are proposed and compared. In the first approach, Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO)-based methods have been studied and compared within CGDA: naive PSO, Fitness Inheritance PSO (FI-PSO), and Adaptive Fuzzy Fitness Granulation with PSO (AFFG-PSO). The second approach studied the introduction of geometrical and velocity constraints within CGDA. The effects of both approaches were analyzed and compared in the wax and paint actions, two CGDA commonly studied use cases. Results from this paper depict an important reduction in the number of evaluations.

Style Transfer has been proposed in a number of fields: fine arts, natural language processing, and fixed trajectories. We scale this concept up to control policies within a Deep Reinforcement Learning infrastructure. Each network is trained to maximize the expected reward, which typically encodes the goal of an action, and can be described as the content. The expressive power of deep neural networks enables encoding a secondary task, which can be described as the style. The Neural Policy Style Transfer (NPST) algorithm is proposed to transfer the style of one policy to another, while maintaining the content of the latter. Different policies are defined via Deep Q-Network architectures. These models are trained using demonstrations through Inverse Reinforcement Learning. Two different sets of user demonstrations are performed, one for content and other for style. Different styles are encoded as defined by user demonstrations. The generated policy is the result of feeding a content policy and a style policy to the NPST algorithm. Experiments are performed in a catch-ball game inspired by the Deep Reinforcement Learning classical Atari games; and a real-world painting scenario with a full-sized humanoid robot, based on previous works of the authors. The implementation of three different Q-Network architectures (Shallow, Deep and Deep Recurrent Q-Network) to encode the policies within the NPST framework is proposed and the results obtained in the experiments with each of these architectures compared.

Beyond 5G and 6G networks are expected to support new and challenging use cases and applications that depend on a certain level of Quality of Service (QoS) to operate smoothly. Predicting the QoS in a timely manner is of high importance, especially for safety-critical applications as in the case of vehicular communications. Although until recent years the QoS prediction has been carried out by centralized Artificial Intelligence (AI) solutions, a number of privacy, computational, and operational concerns have emerged. Alternative solutions have surfaced (e.g. Split Learning, Federated Learning), distributing AI tasks of reduced complexity across nodes, while preserving the privacy of the data. However, new challenges rise when it comes to scalable distributed learning approaches, taking into account the heterogeneous nature of future wireless networks. The current work proposes DISTINQT, a novel multi-headed input privacy-aware distributed learning framework for QoS prediction. Our framework supports multiple heterogeneous nodes, in terms of data types and model architectures, by sharing computations across them. This enables the incorporation of diverse knowledge into a sole learning process that will enhance the robustness and generalization capabilities of the final QoS prediction model. DISTINQT also contributes to data privacy preservation by encoding any raw input data into highly complex, compressed, and irreversible latent representations before any transmission. Evaluation results showcase that DISTINQT achieves a statistically identical performance compared to its centralized version, while also proving the validity of the privacy preserving claims. Couplings between biochemical and mechanical processes have a profound impact on embryonic development. However, in-vitro studies capable of quantifying these interactions have remained elusive. Here, we investigate a synthetic system where a DNA reaction-diffusion (RD) front is advected by a turbulent flow generated by active matter (AM) flows in a quasi-one-dimensional geometry. Whereas the dynamics of simple RD fronts solely depend on the reaction and diffusion rates, we show that RD-AM front propagation is also influenced by the confinement geometry. We first experimentally dissected the different components of the reaction-diffusion-advection process by knocking out reaction or advection and observed how RD-AM allows for faster transport over large distances, avoiding dilution. We then show how confinement impacts active matter flow: while changes in instantaneous flow velocities are small; correlation times are dramatically increased with decreasing confinement. As a result, RD-AM front speed increased up to 8-fold compared to a RD one, in quantitative agreement with a conveyor belt RDA theoretical model. The RD-AM experimental system described here provides a framework for the rational engineering of complex spatiotemporal processes observed in living systems. 46. Bullying and Intellectual Disability from the Perspective of Students

- Abstract
Bullying has been a recurrent phenomenon throughout the history of education. Among those most vulnerable are those with intellectual disabilities who tend to suffer greater levels of victimisation. The purpose of this research is to analyse the prevalence of bullying of students with intellectual disability in ordinary schools compared to special education schools. The project used a nonexperimental, descriptive and correlational methodology with a sample of 99 students who completed the validated European Bellying Intervention Project Questionnaire measurement tool. The results show that the majority of students who were victimised by bullies left their ordinary school during secondary education. Within ordinary schools, students with disabilities are more likely to experience bullying in the role of victim while in special education schools the most frequent role is that of observer.

47. Cyberbullying Profiles: Differences in Anxiety, Depression, and Stress in a Sample of Spanish Students

The increased prevalence and significant negative consequences associated with cyberbullying justify the need for empirical research that helps provide a deeper understanding of the problem. The objective of this study was to identify the existence of different cyberbullying profiles (according to degree of cybervictimization and cyberaggression of students) and whether these profiles vary with regard to anxiety, depression, and stress. The sample consisted of 1,185 students aged 12 to 18 (M = 14.01; DT = 2.36). A latent class analysis and ANOVA were carried out. The data showed four profiles: not-involved (low scores for cybervictimization and cyberaggression), cybervictims (moderately high scores for cybervictimization and low scores for cyberaggression), cyberbullies (low scores for cybervictimization and moderately high scores for cyberaggression), and cybervictims-cyberbullies (high scores for cybervictimization and cyberaggression). Statistically significant differences in anxiety, depression, and stress were found between the profiles. The group of cybervictims and cybervictims-cyberbullies presented higher anxiety than the not-involved group and cyberbullies. The cybervictims-cyberbullies group showed higher depression and stress levels than the other groups, and the cyberbully group showed a higher level of depression than the not-involved group.
