7. Fatigue Crack Initiation and Early Growth in GLARE 3 Fiber-metal Laminate Subjected to Mixed Tensile and Bending Loading

Abstract

A special open-hole sheet specimen of GLARE fiber-metal laminate was used to simulate mixed loading similar to the loading of a riveted hole in a real fuselage skin structure. The effect of cyclic tension and secondary bending loading was studied. The notch region was observed through a microscope in order to detect the first fatigue crack initiation during fatigue loading. The number of cycles prior to crack initiation was measured, and the crack growth rate in the surface layer of the laminate was evaluated. The specimens were subjected to fatigue damage investigation in the inner layers of the laminate after termination of the test. A significant effect of secondary bending on fatigue crack initiation and early crack growth was found. The experimental results are discussed in terms of local stress-strain conditions in the notch region evaluated by means of finite element calculation.

Abstract

Nickel-copper alloys are commonly used in highly corrosive conditions where strength is required. Typical applications are in the marine sector, petrochemical industry, or energy facilities such as chemical tubes, pumps, heat exchangers and superheated steam systems. This paper compares the microstructure and mechanical properties of a cast alloy with a 3D printed alloy processed via a laser powder bed fusion (LPBF) technique. Small cylindrical specimens were used for tensile tests at room temperature (RT) and elevated temperatures up to 750 °C in air. The tensile stress-strain response was determined for both types of materials. At RT, LPBF material has a higher yield strength and ultimate tensile strength than a cast alloy. At elevated temperatures, the strength of both variants is comparable. However, the fracture elongation of the LPBF material is significantly lower over the entire range of investigated temperatures. Fracture surfaces and polished sections parallel to the specimen axis were investigated to compare the microstructure and damage mechanisms of the nickel-coper alloy 400 prepared by conventional casting and via LPBF.

Abstract

Bakalářská práce si klade za cíl analyzovat vybrané aspekty hospodaření hasičského záchranného sboru ve zvoleném kraji. V teoretické části shrnuje informace z oblastí legislativy, organizace a financování hasičských záchranných sborů v podmínkách ČR a v části praktické se práce zaměřuje na analýzu rozpočtů hasičských záchranných sborů za posledních 5 let z pohledu vývoje jednotlivých příjmů a výdajů HZS krajů, tedy na analýzu jejich hospodaření. Pro účely srovnání a analýzy hospodaření byly zvoleny kraje Jihomoravský a Pardubický., The bachelor's thesis aims to analyze selected aspects of the management of the fire and rescue service in the selected region. In the theoretical part, it summarizes information from the areas of legislation, organization and financing of fire and rescue services in our conditions, and in the practical part, the work focuses on the analysis of the budgets of fire and rescue services for the last 5 years from the point of view of the development of individual revenues and expenses of HZS regions, i.e. on the analysis of their management . For the purposes of comparison and economic analysis, the regions of Jihomoravský and Pardubický were chosen., Fakulta ekonomicko-správní, Studentka přednesla obhajobu práce s názvem Analýza hospodaření krajského hasičského záchranného sboru. Cílem práce je zhodnotit vývoj hospodaření hasičského záchranného sboru ve vybraném kraji ČR. Student se v analýze zaměří na jednotlivé typy příjmů a výdajů sboru a provede mezikrajské srovnání. Na základě výsledků student navrhne možná doporučení na zlepšení hospodaření. Otázky vedoucího: O1: Z provedené analýzy vyplynulo, že každoročně přibývá planých poplachů. Navrhujete na základě toho, že je potřeba pracovat s veřejností. Uveďte, jak si takovou práci představujete a jak by tím mohlo dojít ke snížení počtu hlášených planých poplachů. Abstract

The very recently developed coarse-grained new-generation oxide dispersion strengthened (ODS) alloys containing 5 vol.% homogeneously distributed yttrium nano-precipitates seems to be a promising oxidation-resistant structural material for applications at temperatures above 1000 °C. The primary aim of the present paper is the introduction of the new-generation oxide dispersion strengthened (ODS) alloy and the first testing of its high temperature fatigue properties at 800 °C, concurrently demonstrating a novel and very efficient methodology by using an incremental fatigue step test. The successful application of the methodology motivates the authors to test the fatigue properties of new generation ODS alloys at 1000–1200 °C in the near future.

Abstract

Characteristic features of fatigue damage of 316L austenitic stainless steel cyclically strained axially in tension-compression, reversed torsion and combined axial-torsional mode were studied. All loading modes resulted in the formation of persistent slip markings (PSMs). Predominantly one slip system was activated in the case of axial and torsional loading while at biaxial loading, activation of several slip systems was involved. PSMs acted as sites of multiple fatigue crack initiation. The path of subsequent crack growth at a macroscopic scale differed considerably in dependence on loading mode and applied amplitude. The hardening-softening curves and fatigue life curves were evaluated and results were compared and discussed in terms of the type of applied loading.

Abstract

The aim of this study was to analyse the effect of Instagram usage reduction on the psychological well-being of young adults. Participants (n = 72) were randomly assigned into three groups, the experimental group (n = 25) used Instagram for a maximum of 10 minutes a day and turned off notifications, the active control group (n = 24) turned off notifications, and the passive control group (n= 23) used Instagram without any restriction. Baseline monitoring took place in the first week followed by three weeks of experimental intervention. The results showed a significant decrease in depressive symptoms (F (1.67) = 20.86; p < .001), negative emotions (F (1.67) = 7.85; p = .007), loneliness (F (1.67) = 4.69; p = .034) and increase in self-esteem (F (1.67) = 8.347; p = .005) and positive emotions (F (1. 67) = 7.40; p = .008) across the sample, i.e., in both experimental and control groups. The improvement in psychological well-being without significant differences between the groups can be attributed to monitoring the use, so the fact that we have an overview of our own use of Instagram can bring benefits.
