Since the summer of 2020, researchers from ten projects pertaining to the Horizon2020 Science with and for Society (SwafS) call have been meeting virtually as the SwafS14 Monitoring and Evaluation ecosystem. Topics of discussion were the trials and tribulations of their regional Responsible Research and Innovation (RRI) projects as well as their strategies for monitoring and evaluation. In this paper we make a first attempt at presenting these issues as problems of translation between different kinds of stakeholders. After an exploration of the diversity of stakeholders and the process of translation in regional RRI, we suggest evaluative conversations as a way of improving regional RRI. We intend to develop this idea in the future and that these conversations will facilitate more responsible and engaged monitoring and evaluation and contribute to better R&I policies.

L’abitudine dei cormorani (Phalacrocorax carbo sinensis) di radunarsi in inverno in dormitori rende più semplice il monitoraggio delle popolazioni svernanti. In Campania (Italia meridionale) si effettuano conteggi ai dormitori invernali dagli anni ’80 del XX secolo. A partire dal gennaio 1998 però il monitoraggio è stato standardizzato e reso costante negli anni. Si dispone oggi quindi di una serie storica di 25 anni sulla quale si sono effettuate analisi sull’andamento, la periodicità, la natura dei vari dormitori monitorati nel periodo preso in esame, e le origini geografiche degli esemplari svernanti. Ne è emersa una tendenza moderata all’incremento, confermata anche dal confronto del numero mediano di animali presenti nel decennio 2003-2012 con quelli del decennio 2013-2022. Echo chambers can be described as situations in which individuals encounter and interact only with viewpoints that confirm their own, thus moving, as a group, to more polarized and extreme positions. Recent literature mainly focuses on characterizing such entities via static observations, thus disregarding their temporal dimension. In this work, distancing from such a trend, we study, at multiple topological levels, echo chambers genesis related to the social discussions that took place in Italy during the EURO 2020 Championship. Our analysis focuses on a well-defined topic (i.e., BLM/racism) discussed on Twitter during a perfect temporally bound (sporting) event. Such characteristics allow us to track the rise and evolution of echo chambers in time, thus relating their existence to specific episodes.

The mentions of the Sebasta in Statius’ Silvae show the relevant role played by public games and spectacles in Flavian Rome – especially during Domitian’s reign –, as a consequence of the fast and unstoppable ‘hellenization’ of imperial power. Statius’ literary example does also confirm how Rome, thanks to the political and military power, has managed to replace Greece as a reference model also in the field of public games. Although literary or rhetorical schemes, Statius’ poetry is also a precious testimony of the classical tradition of Naples as a Greek city, therefore a learned city able to compete in cultural terms with the city of Rome.

Since the outbreak of the 2019 coronavirus (COVID-19), vascular specialists have faced dramatic changes in clinical and surgical practice. Although COVID-19 pulmonary signs and symptoms were the most pertinent problems initially, in the long term, cardiovascular complications became the most fearsome, with poor outcomes in terms of morbidity and mortality. Algorithms and decision-making procedures have been modified, not only to treat new clinical findings in COVID-19 positive patients, but also to avoid complications related to pulmonary and systemic infections. Additionally, COVID-19-negative patients experienced challenging management, due to hospital crowding, the risk of nosocomial COVID-19 transmission, and pandemic emergencies. In this context, aortic interventions were subject to several difficulties. First, in COVID-19-positive patients, there was the onset of new pathological scenarios including thrombotic manifestations and the subsequent complications. Second, in both COVID-19-negative and positive patients, there was a need to deliver optimal treatment with acceptable perioperative risks, forcing a rethinking of decision-making especially in terms of indications for treatments. The aim of this systematic review is to present evidence published on COVID-19 and aortic-related issues, highlighting some challenging aspects regarding management, treatment and outcomes.Data search was performed on PubMed, Scopus and Web of Science, using as time range "January 1The search retrieved 416 papers; among these, 46 studies were eligible and reviewed in depth. The published literature suggests the existence of a hypercoagulable state in patients with COVID-19 disease occurring via direct and indirect mechanisms. COVID-19 infection seems to promote a prothrombotic status that aggravates vascular disease. Regardless of clinical laboratory or status, active COVID-19 infection is considered a risk factor for poor vascular surgery outcomes. Specifically, it is associated with a fourfold increased risk of death and a threefold increased risk of major adverse events. Prognosis of patients hospitalized with COVID-19 disease is often determined by the extent of pulmonary disease, although vascular complications also greatly affect outcomes. Nevertheless, although COVID‑19 is highly morbid, in high‑risk operations good outcomes can still be achieved even in elderly patients with COVID‑19.In the case of aortic disease during active COVID-19 infection, poor outcomes are associated with COVID-19 vascular and non-vascular complications, while for COVID-19-negative patients not much changed in terms of outcomes, despite the difficulties in management. Endovascular repair, when possible, minimized the impact of treatment, reducing the risk of COVID-related postoperative complications or acquired infection in negative patients.

Techno-moral attitudes, technological change, and socio-economic outcomes in survey data of four European regions

The beginning of Calgacus’ speech delivered in Tacitus’ Agricola (30, 1) shows the extraordinary skill with which the historian, thanks to the couple hodiernus dies / initium libertatis, shapes a testeful crossing between rhetoric and historiography in which, together with the historiographical models, there is a notable incidence of Cicero. Moreover, those words of Calgacus seem to be inspired by the tradition of the Latin political and ideological lexicon of Greek origin; in this particular case, a possible starting model could be a passage from Xenophon’s Hellenica.

The paper focuses on the presence and the meaning of the adverb paulatim in Tacitus, especially in narrative contexts in which the historian faces with political, historical and institutional transitions or transformations. Although Tacitus seems to follow a historiographical tradition in this use of paulatim, which probably dates back to Sallust, the influence of epic and didactic poetry is not to be excluded.

Martial’s epigram 10, 10 represents a particular case, if not a unicum, of satiric epigram, especially because of its target: a consular. This single poem confirms the need to recognize in Martial’s epigrams also a political-social component, that, even though it’s not comparable with the works and the thought of other contemporary authors, like Tacitus, stands out as a significant social and historical document of a wider crisis in Roman society. Martial builds this peculiar literary strategy wisely mixing the tradition of the epigrammatic genre and that of Latin satire, shaping with epigram 10, 10 more an ‘epigrammatic satire’ than a ‘satiric epigram’.

Nel lavoro le autrici riprendono alcuni concetti trattati da Ronald Britton nei suoi principali lavori. Partono dalla centralità dell’Edipo nello sviluppo psichico descritta dall’autore rilevandone soprattutto l’aspetto che riguarda il riconoscimento della sessualità dei genitori.Si soffermano sul concetto di spazio triangolare e terza posizione,collegati alla metafora spaziale dell’altra stanza. Riprendono la chiarezza con cui Britton descrive l’intreccio tra la posizione depressiva e il complesso edipico. Sottolineano poi i collegamenti tra concetti di Bion, Rosenfeld e Steiner che permettono all’autore di approdare alla descrizione di cicli di sviluppo e regressione nel processo di crescita.Descrivono,infine,la problematica che secondo l’Autore sottende le organizzazioni narcisistiche, accennando alla fantasia dell’oggetto combinato inteso come oggetto che fraintendeo oggetto malignocontrapposto all’oggetto che comprende.

Attraverso l'analisi delle principali fonti letterarie e storiche si ricostruisce criticamente il delicato rapporto di Roma con i popoli italici nel periodo compreso tra l'età repubblicana e i primi secoli dell'Impero.
