This review considers the current data on the use of nanoparticles of biogenic metals and their oxides in antineoplastic treatment, the role that the metals play in important regulatory and metabolic processes, their immunotropic effects, and the possible effects on the electromagnetic parameters of cell–cell interactions. Analysis of the available data and original in vivo experimental results indicates that the antitumor potential of these agents is underestimated. Avenues of further research that may contribute to the development of new effective anticancer nanotechnologies are discussed.

The methods for activating antitumor resistance mechanisms that were developed using the concept of the periodic system of general nonspecific adaptational reactions of the body are briefly reviewed. The principles that allow effective impacts with electromagnetic radiation and biologically active substances are described. The criteria and concepts of the theory of adaptational reactions are compared to some of the concepts and categories of synergetics. The specific features in the dynamics of the studied parameters that are induced by effective impacts are considered. The antistress nature of the systemic effect that is caused by ferromagnetic nanoparticles on animals with grafted tumors is shown. Possible mechanisms that underlie the regression of large tumors that is caused by two different factors, viz., modulated electromagnetic radiation and magnetite nanoparticles, are discussed. The cases where the order parameter changed with the development of antistress unresponsiveness and regression of experimental tumors caused by a combined electromagnetic exposure are analyzed.

Consumption of deuterium depleted water (DDW) (46 ± 2 ppm) as drinking water by white outbred female rats (20 - 22 months) during five weeks led to the development of a well-pronounced geroprotector effect, which manifested in occurrence of the estrous cycle restoration signs, as well as in the coat state improvement, compared with the same characteristics of animals that received drinking water with a deuterium content of 150 ppm. Besides, rats receiving DDW showed the improvement of the skin bactericidal power. Thus, experiments in mammals provided a direct confirmation of the geroprotector properties of DDW. The current study revealed a deuterium content reduction in blood (according to the NMR (nuclearmagnetic resonance) spectroscopy data) and visceral organs: liver, kidney, and heart (according to the mass spectroscopy data) in animals receiving DDW. A more pronounced decrease in the deuterium content was recorded in the rat blood plasma (33.2%) compared with the deuterium content changes in visceral organs (liver -7.2%, kidney -9.7%, heart -7.3%), which generally led to a change in the direction of the D/H isotopic gradient with consumption of DDW by the animals (CDblood plasma < CDvisceral organs).

Обследованы 10 пациентов (средний возраст 48,6±4,2 года) с первичными глиальными опухолями. До операции и на 7-е сутки после нее проводили стандартное полисомнографическое исследование во время ночного сна. Результаты и заключение. Сокращение латентного периода развития дельта-сна, уменьшение представленности 2-й стадии сна и нарушение ее ритмогенеза на фоне увеличения представленности дельта-сна отмечались как до, так и после удаления опухоли. Выявлены изменения биоэлектрической активности мозга во время дельта-сна и фазы быстрого сна. Изменения в организации первых циклов сна были отмечены до операции. После операции было установлено увеличение представленности 2-й стадии сна. Полученные результаты могут быть использованы для корректировки сопроводительной терапии в раннем послеоперационном периоде с целью повышения ее эффективности.

The differences in the type and tension of the general unspecific adaptational reactions in cancer patients with varying prevalence of the process in biliopancreaticoduodenal zone and volume of surgical intervention were revealed. It was shown prognostic significance of the numerical score of the type and tension of the adaptational reaction a day after pancreatoduodenal resection for the development of postoperative complications.

This paper presents a brief overview of the results of original research of biological responses to the effect of low doses of substances exhibiting cytostatic and regulatory effects, as well as to weak electromagnetic radiation of different frequency ranges. The possibility of obtaining pronounced antitumor, antistress, and geroprotective effects was shown. The relation between the systemic mechanisms of implementation of these effects and structural rearrangements in biological fluids, as well as areas that seem promising for optimization of the therapeutic properties of informational effect, are discussed.

В настоящее время особую значимость приобретает про-блема метаболического обеспечения и адаптивной регуляции при действии повреждающих факторов: ионизирующей ра-диации, токсических химиопрепаратов, прогрессии злокаче-ственных опухолей. Системное влияние опухолей на организм диктует необходимость разработки способов патогенетиче-ской терапии, основанных на регуляторных воздействиях [2,4,5]. Циклический аденозинмонофосфат (цАМФ) – уни-версальный «передатчик» регуляторного влияния гормонов и медиаторов, выступает не только в роли сигнальной молекулы сукцинат-зависимого эффекта стимуляции дыхания и окисли-тельного фосфорилирования, но и повышает адаптационный потенциал организма-опухоленосителя [1,7]. Попытки исполь-зования в экспериментальной онкологии аденозин-3-фосфата, структурного аналога метаболита аденозин-5-фосфата, через подавление активности трансформированной моноаминок-сидазы были успешны [6]. Введение препарата животным с перевитыми опухолями повышало резистентность организма и продлевало сроки жизни путем нормализации дезаминиро-вания некоторых азотистых соединений в печени.Учитывая механизмы влияния цАМФ на процессы энер-гообеспечения, а также повышения адаптивного потен-циала организма в условиях злокачественной прогрессии, возникает необходимость изучения его модифицирующего действия при химиотерапии опухолей, достигших значи-тельных объемов.Целью работы явилось изучение влияния цАМФ на противоопухолевую эффективность циклофосфана и не-которые механизмы клеточной и интегральной адаптации у животных с опухолями больших объемов.

This paper briefly reviews the ways of activation of the antitumor resistance mechanisms developed on the basis of the concept of the periodic system of general nonspecific adaptational reactions of the body. The principles of the formation of effective influences by electromagnetic radiation using biologically active substances are described. A comparison of the criteria and conceptions of the theory of adaptational reactions to some concepts and categories of synergetics is made. The features of dynamics of the studied parameters upon effective influences are considered. Antistress nature of the systemic effects of ferromagnetic nanoparticles on tumor bearing animals is shown. The, possible mechanisms of regression of large tumor under the influence of two different factors--modulated electromagnetic radiation and magnetite nanoparticles--are discussed. The cases of a change of the order parameter in connection with the development of antistress areactivity and regression of experimental tumors under the influence of the combined electromagnetic impact are analyzed.

The possibility of obtaining the expressed antitumor, antistress and geroprotective effects has been shown. The question of the relation of system mechanisms of realization of these effects with structural rearrangements in biological fluids, as well as the promising directions for optimizing the therapeutic properties of the informational impacts are discussed.

Blood was sampled from the caudal vein of rats, incubated with cyclophosphamide with autoblood, exposed to red light (0.31 Jcm2) and re-injected into the femoral vein. Lighting in conjunction with the antitumor action of the drug was followed by significant inhibition of large-size tumors, longer survival and development of integral criteria which describe cumulative antitumor effect.

Our investigation deals with prognosis of antitumor action of optical alternating magnetic field. It is designed to stimulate bioadaptive mechanisms taking place in peripheral blood from animals bearing Pliss' tumor. Due to its effect, antitumor defenses were stimulated and levels of dehydrogenases in blood lymphocytes tended to normalize. Such levels point to degree of stress bearing upon body immunity as well as that of processes of body resistance synchronization.

Adaptive status was assessed in 50 children. Lysosomal-cationic test was carried out in healthy children and 20 patients with complicated hemangioma. Photochromotherapy was followed by enhanced functional potential of neutrophil granules. That was indicated by greater values of lysosomal-cationic test results as well as by higher counts of high-concentration cationic proteins. Elevated non-specific resistance was accounted for by antistressor reactions.

The potential of increased antitumor effect of cyclophosphane used in conjunction with low-energy infra-red laser radiation was studied in sarcoma-45--bearing rats. Exposure to certain modes stimulated non-specific antitumor resistance and enhanced antitumor influence of the drug by reducing its damaging effect. Also, it inhibited refractory leukopenia and marked intoxication induced by antistressor reactions.

Peripheral blood was sampled for cytochemical assay of cationic proteins from three groups of animals--intact ones, those with tumor C45 and bearers of the same tumor treated with helium-laser radiation and chemotherapy. Radiotherapy involved such manifestations of enhanced nonspecific antitumor resistance and, in particular, mobilization of the cellular component, as increased number of neutrophils containing cationic protein granules and relatively high levels of such proteins in them. Cytochemical assay of cationic proteins in neutrophil granules may serve as a criterion of nonspecific antitumor resistance assessment.

It is shown that general nonspecific adaptational reactions are the basis for mechanism of magnetic field effects at the organism level. The character of changes in organism and its subsystems (pattern of a general nonspecific adaptational reactions) is determined by the type of the reaction developing under magnetic field: stress or unknown before antistress reactions of training, calm activation and enhanced activation. The protection and damages under stress are interwoven, homeostatic parameters go beyond norm. Patterns of antistress general nonspecific adaptational reactions are within norm: for training reaction-within the lower half, calm activation-upper half, enhanced activation-somewhat above norm. The induction and frequency dependence of the reactions is periodical: as the parameters are changed to a certain coefficient a regular reiteration of general nonspecific adaptational reactions as topologically invariant transformations is observed at different reactivity levels of organism. General nonspecific adaptational reactions of superior reactivity levels (under weak of magnetic fields of lowest frequency) are more favourable, general nonspecific adaptational reactions of low levels have features of strain, desynchronization. Antistress general nonspecific adaptational reactions, especially activation reaction of superior reactivity levels, enhance nonspecific resistance, in contrast to stress without any damages or waste of energy, produce antitumor, protective (in reference to toxic agents and X-radiation) and rejuvenation effects, promoting self-organization. Regularities of general nonspecific adaptational reactions correspond to complex unequilibrium systems behavior.

Various functional states of cells of sarcoma 45 in the course of its growth and regression were studied by photometry and spectral analysis using acridine orange. Fluorescent spectral analysis proved to be the most reliable procedure for quantitative evaluation of tumor cell function using the alpha-coefficient.

The antitumor effect of common nonspecific adaptation reactions of training and activation, obtained by small doses of adrenaline, was studied in the experiments on white rats with sarcoma 45,3,4-benz/a/-pyrene induced tumors and Biskind ovary tumor. Total resorption of the tumor was noted in all cases (55 rats), in which histological investigation of the thymus, lymph nodes, endocrinous glands and white cell count evidenced the development of the activation reaction, while with the training reaction there was only some retardation of tumor growth (51 rats). When it proved impossible to overcome a "chronic" tumor stress (45 rats), no antitumor effect was gained. Thus, the reactions of training and activation obtained by small doses of adrenaline (at high level of the organism reactivity) were found to increase the antitumor reaction of the organism.

The morphofunctional state of lymphatic nodes, thyroid gland and testis have been studied with morphometric, cell photometric and biochemical methods in experiments on adult white rats under the influence of nonspecific adaptation stress and activation reactions caused by small doses of adrenaline (125 mg/kg and 5 mg/kg). The research showed that the changes in the structure and function of the lymphatic organs under stress and activation were markedly different. If stress results in depression of functional state of these organs, the activation reaction, on the contrary, stimulates it.
