Purpose: In France, radiation oncologists are predominantly men with only 44 % of women. Many studies have highlighted gender disparities in medicine. The main objective of our study was to assess the impact of discriminations on radiation oncologists’ career. Materials and methods: An anonymous online questionnaire, adapted from the one used by the ESMO W4O group, was sent to all radiation oncologists in France between March and June 2022. It included questions related to professional experience, gender, socio-ethnicity, sexual orientation, and personal life. Results: Among the 999 radiation oncologists and 168 residents in France, 225 questionnaires were collected (19.2 %). Among the respondents, 60 % were women and 25 % were residents. The mean age was 39.2 years (range: 25–78). The career satisfaction rate was 92 %, with no gender difference. Gender was considered to have a negative impact on the career development by 65 % of women. Social origin was an obstacle to career development for 37 % of all the respondents, and ethnic origin for 25 %. IntroductionThe design of Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) rooms significantly impacts patient care and satisfaction. The aims were first, to describe the current physical space across PICUs in the USA, and second, to identify what proportion of PICUs are compliant with current guidelines.MethodsA descriptive cross-sectional survey was conducted, targeting division chiefs and medical directors of PICUs nationwide. The survey collected data on unit type, construction and renovation dates, room sizes, and available amenities. According to the Guidelines for Design and Construction of Hospitals, PICU rooms are recommended to be single rooms, at least 200 sq ft, have a window and a private bathroom. Data were anonymized and reported as median and interquartile ranges or frequencies and percentages.ResultsThirty units responded. Among the respondents, 26 had general PICUs, 9 had cardiac ICUs, and 3 had intermediate care units, with some units containing multiple types of ICUs. The median annual admissions were 1,125, with a median occupancy rate of 78%. Twenty-three percent of units had at least one double room, and 3% had triple or quadruple rooms. The median room size was 265 sq ft (IQR 230; 304), the smallest room size was 220 sq ft (IQR 179; 275), and the largest single room size was 312 sq ft (IQR 273; 330). Thirty-seven percent of units had bathrooms in every room, while 80% had windows in every room. Additionally, 46% of units had dialysis capabilities in every room, and 7% had negative pressure capabilities in every room. The median building year was 2008 (IQR 2001;2014), with 36% of units having undergone at least one renovation. Larger rooms were associated with more recent build dates (p = 0.01). Only 30% of the PICUs met the guidelines for physical space. These compliant units were built at a median of 4 years ago (IQR 1; 8).ConclusionThis study highlights the variability in PICU room design and amenities across healthcare facilities. Many units still fall short of meeting the guidelines for room size, windows, and private bathrooms. Future research should investigate the relationship between room characteristics and patient outcomes to inform better design practices, with a goal of improving patient experiences and clinical outcomes.

Background. The academic success of students in schools is significantly shaped by their mental attitudes, especially when they face challenging situations that demand substantial effort and resilience. The influence of teachers' attitudes, or mindsets, plays a crucial role within the educational environment, as these directly impact students' own mindsets and subsequently their approach to learning. Specifically, the concept of a 'growth mindset' – which is the belief that one's abilities and intelligence can be developed through dedication and perseverance – has been shown to transform how individuals perceive their capabilities and respond to failures. Objectives. In light of this, a specific study was conducted to evaluate the effectiveness of 'Growth Mindset Training' targeted at teachers. This training aimed to cultivate a growth mindset among educators, hypothesizing that a shift in teacher attitudes would, in turn, positively affect their students. Materials and methods. To assess the impact of the training, researchers utilized a growth mindset scale to measure the mindsets of 19 participating teachers, comprising 11 women and 8 men, both before and after they underwent the training program. Results. The findings from this study were quantitatively robust, with a T-statistic of -3.529 and a significance level of less than .005, indicating a statistically significant improvement in the teachers' growth mindsets post-training. Additionally, the analysis of mean scores from the pretest and posttest further confirmed an upward trend, suggesting that the mindset of the teachers had indeed shifted towards a more growth-oriented perspective. Conclusions. Thus, Growth Mindset Training emerged as a potent intervention tool, not merely altering teachers' perceptions but potentially setting a foundation for enhancing the overall educational experience by fostering a culture of perseverance and continuous improvement in schools.

Women in Eastern culture are often thought of as “the other”. Similarly, feminism in Indonesian literature is also considered a contemporary literary phenomenon in the 21st century. However, according to our research findings, feminism in Indonesian literature has been present since 1901, during Dutch colonialism. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to investigate how feminism is represented in Indonesian literature. The source of this research data is Four Novels by Ki Padmasusastra (FNKP), published between 1901 and 1924. We used qualitative methods to analyze the data. The results showed that FNKP is a postcolonial novel that represents feminism and educational values. Feminism in FNKP was influenced by the Dutch during the colonial period in Indonesia. The authors seek to show that feminism is not at odds with Eastern culture but rather reflects its diversity and complexity. Through literature, the authors seek to educate readers about the similarities and differences between Eastern and Western cultures and how they can coexist in modern society.

Abstract Background Real‐world evidence is increasingly used to guide treatment and regulatory decisions for non‐small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Real‐world treatment patterns and clinical outcomes among patients with advanced/metastatic NSCLC in France, Germany, Italy, Spain, and the UK (EU5) were assessed. Methods This retrospective physician‐completed patient chart review assessed treatment patterns (regimen, duration of treatment [DOT], time to discontinuation), and clinical outcomes (duration of response [DOR], progression‐free survival [PFS], and overall survival [OS]) of patients with stage IIIB/C or IV NSCLC who received pembrolizumab‐based first‐line induction chemotherapy. Results Overall, 322 patients were included; at first‐line maintenance (1LM), 92% had stage IV NSCLC, 68% had nonsquamous histology, and 89% had no central nervous system (CNS)/brain metastasis. The two most common 1LM regimens were pembrolizumab monotherapy (76% overall) and pembrolizumab + pemetrexed (21% overall). Docetaxel monotherapy was the most common second‐line regimen in all countries except Germany (54% overall). For 1LM therapy, the overall median DOT and DOR were 5 and 10 months, respectively; PFS was 7 months and OS was 8 months. Germany had a longer duration of each outcome except for DOR which was longer in Spain. Clinical outcomes were generally poorer for patients with squamous histology and CNS/brain metastases. Conclusions This study demonstrated differences in treatment patterns and clinical outcomes in NSCLC across the EU5 and patient subgroups. Improved survival was generally associated with response to first‐line therapy, nonsquamous histology, and CNS/brain metastases absence. These real‐world data provide valuable insights which may aid treatment decision‐making and clinical trial design.

Background: In South Africa, sexually transmitted infections (STIs) represent a significant public health issue. Sexually transmitted infections contribute significantly to the burden of disease in South Africa and are recognised as one of the main causes of the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) epidemic. The aim of this study was to investigate the potential causes of the high prevalence of STIs in the Du Noon population. Methods: A mixed methodology study involving 40 participants between the ages of 18 years and 45 years was conducted at Du Noon community health centre from 01 May 2021 to 15 May 2021. Both structured questionnaires and one-on-one patient interviews with open-ended questions were utilised to collect data. Results: Cultural beliefs, having multiple partners, a lack of partner notification, alcohol consumption, and a lack of condom usage were found to be the main contributing factors to the high incidence of STIs. Sex education appears to be lacking. Our findings reflected the other well-known cultural and socioeconomic issues confronting South African communities, for example, poverty, age-disparate relationships, and polygamous relationships. Conclusion: The cultural perspectives and understandings of sexual interactions of older men appear to have an impact on younger generations; as do peer pressure, social media and other socio-economic factors. There is an urgent need to shift cultural ideologies and norms among the youth. More research is needed to understand the views and misconceptions of the general public about STIs. Contribution: This study highlighted how health education challenges, interpersonal relationships, and socioeconomic barriers are still important factors in STI transmission.

This study was designed to firstly develop a corpus of Indonesia's junior high school (JHS) and senior high school (SHS) English textbooks (TB) and national examination (NE) texts. By means of corpus analysis, this study then attempted (1) to find out the vocabulary levels (i.e. distribution among the K1-K20, where K refers to 1000-word band in the BNC word frequency list) of JHS and SHS TBs and JHS and SHS NE texts; (2) to compare the lexical variety of JHS and SHS TBs and NE texts, (3) the number of interdisciplinary academic words, and (4) the number of words beyond the 2,000 high frequency English words the texts contained. Research results reveal that (1) JHS TBs belonged to K-4, K-5, and K-4 levels (i.e. knowing 4,000-5,000 words is necessary for the 95% comprehension of these texts) for Grades 7-9 respectively and SHS TBs belonged to K-4, K6, and K5 levels for Grades 10, 11, and 12 respectively; while the vocabulary levels of JHS NE texts belonged to K4- K5 and SHS NE texts belonged to K3-K5; on average the vocabulary levels of JHS TBs were lower than those of SHS TBs, whereas JHS NE texts levels were slightly higher than those of SHS NE texts; (2) the lexical variety of JHS TBs was the same as that of SHS TBs with the average index of 0,23; while the lexical variety of JHS NE texts was 0,27, which was lower than the SHS NE texts with 0,38; (3) for the words beyond the 2,000 basic words, the JHS and SHS NE texts covered 11.20% and 15.10% of the entire words, or higher than those of JHS and SHS TBs, which covered only 7.89% and 11.87% respectively; and (4) the same profile appeared in the interdisciplinary academic words (Coxhead's AWL), where JHS and SHS TBs contained 1.75% and 3.56% respectively, or lower than JHS and SHS NE texts, which contained only 3.26% and 5.65% respectively of all the tokens in the texts.

Low soil fertility is a limiting factor for crop production in general. Increasing the yield of garlic with balanced fertilization is an important key identified, also the right type and dose of fertilization is also a major problem. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of inorganic fertilizer (nitrogen) and chicken manure doses on the growth and yield of garlic. The experimental design used in this research was a completely randomized design. The first factor was chicken manure, which consists of two levels, i.e., without chicken manure and 40 t/ha of chicken manure. The second factor was the dosage of N fertilizer which consists of twenty levels, ie, no fertilizer, urea with a dose of 50, 100, 150, 200, 250, 300, 350, 400. 450, 500 kg/ha, ZA with a dose of 50, 100, 150, 200, 250, 300, 350, 400. 450, 500 kg/ha. The results showed that the combination of urea fertilizer 500 kg/ha and chicken manure 40 tons/ha gave the highest yield of stored dry tubers and was significantly higher than control plots and other treatment combinations. Likewise other growth and yield parameters increased progressively. Therefore, it can be concluded that to increase the yield of garlic in the study area, 500 kg/ha of urea fertilizer and 40 tons/ha of chicken manure are needed. The recommendation is that on Andisol soil for garlic cultivation, it is better to use a combination of 500 kg/ha urea and 40 t/ha chicken manure.

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the quality of groundwater used for irrigating agricultural areas in the region of Ouargla by using several quality indices and to map the spatial distribution of these indices. This spatial mapping will help create a model for the classification of these resources according to their suitability for irrigation. For this purpose, physicochemical analyses were carried out on samples from 38 wells distributed over the entire territory of the studied region. These include 27 wells that capture Mio-Pliocene groundwater (Terminal Complex) and 11 wells in the Albian groundwater (Intercalary Continental). The thematic maps were developed using a geographic information system (GIS). In this study, we used the following eight indices: potential salinity (PS); residual sodium carbonate (RSC); electrical conductivity (EC); magnesium percent (%Mg2+); sodium percent (%Na+); permeability index (PI); Kelley’s ratio (KR); sodium adsorption ratio (SAR). The global qualitative study of the water used for irrigation shows that these resources fall into three categories (good, permissible, and poor for irrigation). Water quality analysis shows that, based on the magnesium percent (%Mg2+), 18% of the wells can be considered to be of good quality, 74% of the wells are of medium quality (permissible for irrigation), and 8% are of poor quality (unsuitable for irrigation). According to the Wilcox diagram, the waters used in the Ouargla region are of very poor quality. Very excessive mineralization, expressed by the electrical conductivity, was observed for the Mio-Pliocene and Albian waters, where it varies with values in the range of 2340 µS/m to 6520 µS/m and 2330 µS/m to 3840 µS/m, respectively. This conductivity presents a high risk of alkalinization.

Global Positioning System (GPS) has become important and necessary in daily life. It is possible to reach any destination using GPS, which is included in many lands and marine applications. In this work, GPS was applied to a real navigation boat, integrated with the inertial navigation system (INS) device, and installed on the boat. The navigational devices were linked to the (mission planer) program, through which the results of the navigation process were shown. The system can provide better navigation performance accuracy and reliability due to the integration between GPS and INS. The data extracted from the navigation devices are processed using the Gaussian process (GP) prediction algorithm, to perform the GPS synchronization with the INS and predict the GPS cut-off values for specified periods. The prediction results of the GP algorithm are effective for the cut-off GPS data as the apparent error amount of the algorithm is low. In addition the inertial navigation system provides the location, speed, and position of the boat, but it contains a cumulative error that increases over time. On the other hand, the GPS better accuracy with a lower data rate than the INS, so the integration system between INS/GPS is necessary. It must be developed to overcome the negatives in both systems. Two types of integration were introduced and implemented herein: loosely and tightly. From the results obtained, one can see that the tight system is better at improving errors.

The present modelling study reports the performance of defected CIGS pseudo-homojunction thin film solar cell (P-HTFSC) and determines its optimum parameters for high performance using the Scaps-1D software under the AM1.5 illumination and the operating temperature of 300 K. To focus the discussion on the optimal parameters (thickness, doping concentrations, deep/interface defect concentrations and bandgap) for the ZnO, CdS, ODC and CIGS thin film layers, cross sectional (1D) simulations have been performed on the ZnO/CdS/ODC/CIGS P-HTFSC device for obtaining its optimal structure that confers high light-into-electricity conversion efficiency. The four light J-V characteristics (short-circuit current: JSC, open-circuit voltage: VOC, fill factor: FF and conversion efficiency: ) have been used as indicators to evaluate the device performances. Simulation outcomes have proved that for a best performance for CIGS P-HTFSC device, the optimal thickness for CIGS and ODC layers should be small than 2 µm and few nm, respectively, while the optimal defect concentration within the layer should be 1013 cm-3 and between 1013 cm-3-1018 cm-3, respectively.

This study concerns a new ecological material, bio-sourced and with reduced environmental impact. The material in question is a composite made from date palm fibers and lime. For the development of this material, we were inspired by the techniques used for the manufacture of hemp concrete. The latter is widely used especially in France for the thermal insulation of buildings. The idea is to design an insulation material from the natural resources of the southern Algerian region. The material made is a lightweight concrete that could provide both thermal and acoustic insulation. By its porous morphology, it also has the ability to absorb water vapor when it is in an environment with high relative humidity and to release the vapor if the environment is dry. It could therefore play the role of a water regulator. Experimental investigations revealed interesting mechanical and hydrous properties. Measurements of the moisture buffer value (MBV) reveal that according to the current standard, the material is classified between good and excellent. As regards the mechanical strength, the material produced has an acceptable compressive strength.

The current study aims at analysing phonological production of Sundanese beginner EFL learners in an elementary school in West Java. This study analyses both the production of vowels and consonants that are particularly present in English language but are not in the learners’ L1 i.e., Sundanese. Qualitative approach was used in the study. Participants were asked to read two English short stories titled “A Good Boy” and “A Greedy Mouse” while being recorded. Their recording was then transcribed using phonetic transcription. The learners’ phonological productions were then classified using the chart from the International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA). The study shows that the Sundanese EFL learners’ phonological production is heavily influenced by their first language. There are several common mistakes found in the learners’ production of vowels, such as [a] ↔ [Ʌ], [e], [eə], [u:], [ɔ] 2. [ə] ↔ [e], [u], [Ʌ], [ei], [a], [aʊ], [ʊə] 3. [ʊ] ↔[u], [ɔ] 4. [i:] ↔ [I], [e], [ə] 5. [з]→[ei], [e], [ə] 6. [əʊ]→[ə], [ɔ], [ɔi], [u], [з] 7. [æ]→[e], [ei], [a], [ɔ], [i:], [Ʌ] 8. [aʊ]→[u], [a], [ɔ], [ə] 9. [ɒ]→[ə], [a], [ɔ], [e]. MIn the production of consonants, the common mistakes are: 1. [ð] ↔ [d], [h], [t], [ʤ], [ʧ] 2. [ʃ] ↔ [s], [ʧ] 3. [v], [f] →[p] 3. [ʤ]→[k], [ʧ], [g], [r] 4. [ŋ]→[n], [g], [s] 5. [k]→[ʧ], [ŋ] 6. The results confirm several previous studies which consequently suggests that these learners need specific approach in EFL learning if their target is to be as close as possible to the standard pronunciation of English.

The purpose of this research was to investigate the development of vocabulary as reflected in their written English and the problems faced by university English students in writing. This quantitative research used a pre-post design. The instruments used writing test and a closed questionnaire which had 15 items. The research showed different resuslts for all variables that analyzed. In total word produced and Type Token Ratio (TTR), the result showed that there were no significant differences, but in less frequent words, the result showed that there was a significant difference between pre-test and post-test results. The result of the questionnaire on the students’ problems in writing showed that more than half of students (65%) had difficulties in grammar, because they felt that they had lack of vocabulary and ability in grammar. The conclusion showed that all variables that were analyzed showed different results. In the result of questionnaire showed that almost all students had difficulties in grammar and lack of vocabulary. In addition, others problems were found in generic structure, choosing words, expressing ideas, and the tense that was used.

Genus Phalaenopsis is a popular orchid genus known for its large flowers and varied colors. In the wild, the presence of Phalaenopsis is rare, making propagation a necessary effort for conservation. However, research on the diversity of orchids of the genus Phalaenopsis spp has not been widely carried out. This study aims to determine the genetic diversity of orchids of the genus Phalaenopsis spp (P. deliciosa, P. venosa, P. amboinensis, P. amabilis, P bellina, P. violacea) using ISSR markers. The 5 primers used were, UBC-810, UBC-834, UBC-814, UBC-826, and UBC-843. The genetic diversity facts may be used as the basis for plant breeding method. The DNA samples were isolated and then the concentration and purity were measured. DNA amplification of the samples used the PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction) with 5 ISSR primers. The NTSYS-pc program (Numeral Taxonomic System) version 2.02 was used to evaluate the scoring data, and the results showed up as cluster dendrograms. The results showed that 6 samples of Phalaenopsis spp were divided into 2 clusters, with similarity index values in the range of 30%-81% and genetic diversity in the range of 19%-70%. NMR data analysis allowed the complete characterization of the binding mode of both drugs to Mcl-1, including the estimation of their affinity for Mcl-1. Biological assays evidenced that the biological activity of Torsemide was lower as compared to the Deferasirox, which was able to efficiently and selectively inhibit the anti-apoptotic activity of Mcl-1. Finally, docking and molecular dynamics led to a 3D model for the Deferasirox:Mcl-1 complex and revealed the positioning of the drug in the Mcl-1 P2/P3 pockets as well as almost all synthetic Mcl-1 inhibitors. Interestingly, contrary to known synthetic Mcl-1 inhibitors which interact through Arg263, Deferasirox, establishes a salt bridge with Lys234.Conclusion: Deferasirox could be a potential candidate for drug repositioning as Mcl-1 inhibitor.Keywords: drug repurposing, Mcl-1, Deferasirox, NMR, docking, dynamics

Alcohol factory waste which still contains a number of nutrients when enriched with manure is good enough to increase the growth and yield of chili. This research was conducted in Jengglong, Jatisobo Village, Polokarto District, Sukoharjo Regency which took place from September 2019 to January 2020. This study used a completely randomized design with two factors and three replications. The first factor consists of 3 levels of Liquid Organic Fertilizer: waste alcohol + EM4, waste alcohol + EM4 + goat manure, alcohol waste + EM4 + a combination of 3 manure (chicken, goat, cow). The second factor dosage of liquid organic fertilizer consists of 4 levels: 0, 1000, 2000, 3000 l/ha. The results of the study showed that the kind and dosage of liquid organic fertilizer enriched with manure did not significantly affect the growth and yield of chili, but the interaction of the two treatments had a significant effect on the yield of chili. The highest weight of red chili was obtained in the treatment of waste alcohol + EM4 + a combination of 3 manure (chicken, goat, cow) with a dose of 3000 l/ha. In conclusion, the use of alcohol waste for fertilization, especially chili plants, should be combined with manure in order to obtain maximum results. The implication of this research is that for fertilizing chili plants, it is better to use alcohol waste, EM4 and a combination of chicken, goat and cow manure at a dosage of 3000 l/ha.

Beta-thalassemia is an autosomal recessive blood disorder characterized by abnormalities in the synthesis of β globin. Together with α globin, it is a subunit of globin protein, called hemoglobin, located inside our red blood cells to deliver oxygen from the lungs to all of the tissues throughout our body. Thereby, individuals with β-thalassemia will often feel limp due to a lack of oxygen dissolved in their blood. In this paper, a finite state automaton to detect and classify β globin gene mutations using its DNA sequence is constructed. Finite state automata have a close connection to an algebraic structure, that is, a monoid. Together with the theory of the syntactic monoid, we present a methodology to minimize the number of the internal states of an automaton to have minimal state automata. Therefore, a minimal state automaton can be constructed to detect β globin gene mutation causing the β-thalassemia disease. We have developed a MATLAB program to conduct the appropriate simulations.

This research aims at: (1) exploring classroom management strategies used by English teachers in inclusive elementary school in Banyumas regency, (2) exploring English teachers’ reasons in using the strategies in their inclusive classes, (3) exploring how English teachers accommodate various needs of students with special needs in the classroom. This is a descriptive qualitative research. The primary data was gathered through classroom observation while secondary data was collected through interviews. This research was done in two inclusive elementary schools in Banyumas regency. This study shows that English teachers in the school have good understanding on classroom management. However, the practice in the classroom indicates that there are still rooms for improvement.

BACKGROUND: Peripheral autoimmune cytopenia is defined by the immune-mediated destruction of hematological cell lines, including platelets, red blood cells, white cells (neutrophils), and multi-line destruction, called Evans syndrome. METHODS: Our retrospective study includes 59 patients admitted to the hematology service in Constantine Regional Military University Hospital during a period of 10 years (2010–2019) with the aim of specifying the epidemiological, clinical and biological characteristics as well as the characteristics therapy of adult autoimmune cytopenia in eastern Algeria region. RESULTS: Through this study, it can be noted that immunological thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP) is the most frequent of cytopenia 79.33% (47 cases) followed by autoimmune hemolytic anemia (AHAI) by 20.34% (11 cases). The average age for ITP is 52.04 ± 5.78 years with a male predominance and a gender F/M ratio of 0.81. People over the age of 60 were the most affected.
