Image inpainting is a widely used technique in computer vision for reconstructing missing or damaged pixels in images. Recent advancements with Generative Adversarial Networks (GANs) have demonstrated superior performance over traditional methods due to their deep learning capabilities and adaptability across diverse image domains. Residual Networks (ResNet) have also gained prominence for their ability to enhance feature representation and compatibility with other architectures. This paper introduces a novel architecture combining GAN and ResNet models to improve image inpainting outcomes. Our framework integrates three components: Transpose Convolution-based GAN for guided and blind inpainting, Fast ResNet-Convolutional Neural Network (FR-CNN) for object removal, and Co-Modulation GAN (Co-Mod GAN) for refinement. The model's performance was evaluated on benchmark datasets, achieving accuracies of 96.59% on Image-Net, 96.70% on Places2, and 96.16% on CelebA. Diabetic Retinopathy is one of the most familiar diseases and is a diabetes complication that affects eyes. Initially, diabetic retinopathy may cause no symptoms or only mild vision problems. Eventually, it can cause blindness. So early detection of symptoms could help to avoid blindness. In this paper, we present some experiments on some features of diabetic retinopathy, like properties of exudates, properties of blood vessels and properties of microaneurysm. Using the features, we can classify healthy, mild non-proliferative, moderate non-proliferative, severe non-proliferative and proliferative stages of DR. Support Vector Machine, Random Forest and Naive Bayes classifiers are used to classify the stages. Automated test generation is crucial for ensuring the reliability and robustness of software applications while at the same time reducing the effort needed. While significant progress has been made in test generation research, generating valid test oracles still remains an open problem. To address this challenge, we present AugmenTest, an approach leveraging Large Language Models (LLMs) to infer correct test oracles based on available documentation of the software under test. Unlike most existing methods that rely on code, AugmenTest utilizes the semantic capabilities of LLMs to infer the intended behavior of a method from documentation and developer comments, without looking at the code. AugmenTest includes four variants: Simple Prompt, Extended Prompt, RAG with a generic prompt (without the context of class or method under test), and RAG with Simple Prompt, each offering different levels of contextual information to the LLMs. To evaluate our work, we selected 142 Java classes and generated multiple mutants for each. We then generated tests from these mutants, focusing only on tests that passed on the mutant but failed on the original class, to ensure that the tests effectively captured bugs. This resulted in 203 unique tests with distinct bugs, which were then used to evaluate AugmenTest. Results show that in the most conservative scenario, AugmenTest's Extended Prompt consistently outperformed the Simple Prompt, achieving a success rate of 30\% for generating correct assertions. In comparison, the state-of-the-art TOGA approach achieved 8.2\%. We compute the energy scales of perturbative unitarity violation in various $2 \to 4$ vector boson scattering (VBS) processes and compare them to lower multiplicity processes. The final states include $h^4$, $V_L V_L h h$, and $V_L^4$, where $V_L$ represents the longitudinal mode of $Z$ or $W$ boson, and $h$ the Higgs boson. We consider scenarios with modified cubic and quartic Higgs self-couplings, including those derived from the Standard Model Effective Field Theory (SMEFT), as well as scenarios involving derivative operators from Higgs Effective Field Theory (HEFT). Modified Higgs self-couplings typically lead to perturbative unitarity violation in at least the $2\to 3$ VBS; however, the corresponding energy scales of unitarity violation are often very high. Our analysis reveals that, in the case of modified Higgs potentials, $2\to4$ processes exhibit significantly lower energy scales of unitarity violation compared to $2 \to 3$ processes. This, combined with the fact that the cross sections of $2 \to 4$ processes increase with energy, suggests they generate more signal events at high energies, $\sqrt{\hat{s}} \gtrsim 2$ TeV, which could be achieved in future colliders. In contrast, for HEFT derivative interactions, higher multiplicity offers diminished benefits, as $2 \to 4$ cross sections are often smaller than those of related $2 \to 3$ processes within the valid energy range. This study shows that $2 \to 4$ VBS processes are particularly compelling for probing Higgs potential modification, including the cubic and quartic couplings, but are less advantageous when derivative interactions dominate., Comment: 29 pages, 6 figures, 7 tables

Distributed Constraint Optimization Problems (DCOPs) offer a powerful framework for multi-agent coordination but often rely on labor-intensive, manual problem construction. To address this, we introduce VL-DCOPs, a framework that takes advantage of large multimodal foundation models (LFMs) to automatically generate constraints from both visual and linguistic instructions. We then introduce a spectrum of agent archetypes for solving VL-DCOPs: from a neuro-symbolic agent that delegates some of the algorithmic decisions to an LFM, to a fully neural agent that depends entirely on an LFM for coordination. We evaluate these agent archetypes using state-of-the-art LLMs (large language models) and VLMs (vision language models) on three novel VL-DCOP tasks and compare their respective advantages and drawbacks. Lastly, we discuss how this work extends to broader frontier challenges in the DCOP literature.

This paper presents an innovative method for automatically detecting dust accumulation on a PV system and notifying the user to clean it instantly. The accumulation of dust, bird, or insect droppings on the surface of photovoltaic (PV) panels creates a barrier between the solar energy and the panel's surface to receive sufficient energy to generate electricity. The study investigates the effects of dust on PV panel output and visible sunlight (VSL) block amounts to utilize the necessity of cleaning and detection. The amount of blocked visible sunlight while passing through glass due to dust determines the accumulated dust level. Visible sunlight can easily pass through the clean, transparent glass but reflects when something like dust obstructs it. Based on those concepts, a system is designed with a light sensor that is simple, effective, easy to install, hassle-free, and can spread the technology. The study also explores the effectiveness of the detection system developed by using image processing and machine learning algorithms to identify dust levels and bird or insect droppings accurately. The experimental setup in Gazipur, Bangladesh, found that excessive dust can block up to 55% of visible sunlight, wasting 55% of solar energy in the visible spectrum, and cleaning can recover 3% of power weekly. The data from the dust detection system is correlated with the 400W capacity solar panels' naturally lost efficiency data to validate the system. This research measured visible sunlight obstruction and loss due to dust. However, the addition of an infrared radiation sensor can draw the entire scenario of energy loss by doing more research.

This paper contains information about the universal shift register. In the early stages of this paper, this paper introduces different types of flip flops and calculates the delay. After that, different types of flip flops are used to make a universal shift register, and the high-speed universal shift register is measured using a timing diagram. In addition, a complete memory system was designed at the end of this paper. A universal shift register with 4-bit Alu was added to complete the memory system. As a result, this method has created an accurate memory storage device with high-speed characteristics.

Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) are crucial for the development and operation of smart cities, addressing key challenges in efficiency, productivity, and environmental sustainability. This paper comprehensively reviews the transformative potential of Large Language Models (LLMs) in optimizing ITS. Initially, we provide an extensive overview of ITS, highlighting its components, operational principles, and overall effectiveness. We then delve into the theoretical background of various LLM techniques, such as GPT, T5, CTRL, and BERT, elucidating their relevance to ITS applications. Following this, we examine the wide-ranging applications of LLMs within ITS, including traffic flow prediction, vehicle detection and classification, autonomous driving, traffic sign recognition, and pedestrian detection. Our analysis reveals how these advanced models can significantly enhance traffic management and safety. Finally, we explore the challenges and limitations LLMs face in ITS, such as data availability, computational constraints, and ethical considerations. We also present several future research directions and potential innovations to address these challenges. This paper explores whether enhancing temporal reasoning capabilities in Large Language Models (LLMs) can improve the quality of timeline summarization, the task of summarising long texts containing sequences of events, particularly social media threads . We introduce \textit{NarrativeReason}, a novel dataset focused on temporal relationships among sequential events within narratives, distinguishing it from existing temporal reasoning datasets that primarily address pair-wise event relationships. Our approach then combines temporal reasoning with timeline summarization through a knowledge distillation framework, where we first fine-tune a teacher model on temporal reasoning tasks and then distill this knowledge into a student model while simultaneously training it for the task of timeline summarization. Experimental results demonstrate that our model achieves superior performance on mental health-related timeline summarization tasks, which involve long social media threads with repetitions of events and a mix of emotions, highlighting the importance of leveraging temporal reasoning to improve timeline summarisation.

This work presents a two-way teleportation protocol for the transfer of an unknown two-qubit quantum state between two parties Alice and Bob, utilizing a six-qubit cluster state. This bidirectional exchange is achieved by performing Bell measurements on the qubit pairs of Alice and Bob, ensuring the successful teleportation of the quantum state for both parties. We demonstrate the proposed protocol by designing a teleportation circuit that incorporates the necessary quantum gates. The fidelity of the teleportation process is evaluated through simulations, confirming the accuracy and reliability of the proposed scheme. The protocol restores teleported states without requiring CNOT operations or auxiliary qubits, offering a significant advantage in resource efficiency(utilization). Conditional Measurement scheme which employs linear optical elements and photon detection is the fertile ground for nonclassical state generation. We consider a simple setup that requires a coherent state and a number state as inputs of the beam splitter, and a photon detector. We show that by tuning the parameters involved in the setup, we can achieve optimal squeezing from the setup. This is facilitated by writing the output state of the conditional measurement as displaced qudits. Setting aside displacement which plays no role in squeezing, the finite-dimensional representation makes it possible to calculate the maximal amount of squeezing. By fixing the detection at one photon level irrespective of any number state input and carefully chosen coherent parameter and beam splitter reflectivity values, one can reach the maximal squeezing at least for lower number state inputs. This is in contrast to the earlier attempts in atom field interaction models etc., where the squeezing obtained was far from saturation. People exhibit unique emotional responses. In the same scenario, the emotional reactions of two individuals can be either similar or vastly different. For instance, consider one person's reaction to an invitation to smoke versus another person's response to a query about their sleep quality. The identification of these individual traits through the observation of common physical parameters opens the door to a wide range of applications, including psychological analysis, criminology, disease prediction, addiction control, and more. While there has been previous research in the fields of psychometrics, inertial sensors, computer vision, and audio analysis, this paper introduces a novel technique for identifying human traits in real time using brainwave data. To achieve this, we begin with an extensive study of brainwave data collected from 80 participants using a portable EEG headset. We also conduct a statistical analysis of the collected data utilizing box plots. Our analysis uncovers several new insights, leading us to a groundbreaking unified approach for identifying diverse human traits by leveraging machine learning techniques on EEG data. Our analysis demonstrates that this proposed solution achieves high accuracy. Moreover, we explore two deep-learning models to compare the performance of our solution. Consequently, we have developed an integrated, real-time trait identification solution using EEG data, based on the insights from our analysis. To validate our approach, we conducted a rigorous user evaluation with an additional 20 participants. Evaluating text comprehension in educational settings is critical for understanding student performance and improving curricular effectiveness. This study investigates the capability of state-of-the-art language models-RoBERTa Base, Bangla-BERT, and BERT Base-in automatically assessing Bangla passage-based question-answering from the National Curriculum and Textbook Board (NCTB) textbooks for classes 6-10. A dataset of approximately 3,000 Bangla passage-based question-answering instances was compiled, and the models were evaluated using F1 Score and Exact Match (EM) metrics across various hyperparameter configurations. Our findings revealed that Bangla-BERT consistently outperformed the other models, achieving the highest F1 (0.75) and EM (0.53) scores, particularly with smaller batch sizes, the inclusion of stop words, and a moderate learning rate. In contrast, RoBERTa Base demonstrated the weakest performance, with the lowest F1 (0.19) and EM (0.27) scores under certain configurations. The results underscore the importance of fine-tuning hyperparameters for optimizing model performance and highlight the potential of machine learning models in evaluating text comprehension in educational contexts. However, limitations such as dataset size, spelling inconsistencies, and computational constraints emphasize the need for further research to enhance the robustness and applicability of these models. This study lays the groundwork for the future development of automated evaluation systems in educational institutions, providing critical insights into model performance in the context of Bangla text comprehension.

This Letter presents an investigation of low-energy electron-neutrino interactions in the Fermilab Booster Neutrino Beam by the MicroBooNE experiment, motivated by the excess of electron-neutrino-like events observed by the MiniBooNE experiment. This is the first measurement to use data from all five years of operation of the MicroBooNE experiment, corresponding to an exposure of $1.11\times 10^{21}$ protons on target, a $70\%$ increase on past results. Two samples of electron neutrino interactions without visible pions are used, one with visible protons and one without any visible protons. MicroBooNE data is compared to two empirical models that modify the predicted rate of electron-neutrino interactions in different variables in the simulation to match the unfolded MiniBooNE low energy excess. In the first model, this unfolding is performed as a function of electron neutrino energy, while the second model aims to match the observed shower energy and angle distributions of the MiniBooNE excess. The domain of Natural Language Processing (NLP) has experienced notable progress in the evolution of Bangla Question Answering (QA) systems. This paper presents a comprehensive review of seven research articles that contribute to the progress in this domain. These research studies explore different aspects of creating question-answering systems for the Bangla language. They cover areas like collecting data, preparing it for analysis, designing models, conducting experiments, and interpreting results. The papers introduce innovative methods like using LSTM-based models with attention mechanisms, context-based QA systems, and deep learning techniques based on prior knowledge. However, despite the progress made, several challenges remain, including the lack of well-annotated data, the absence of high-quality reading comprehension datasets, and difficulties in understanding the meaning of words in context. Bangla QA models' precision and applicability are constrained by these challenges. This review emphasizes the significance of these research contributions by highlighting the developments achieved in creating Bangla QA systems as well as the ongoing effort required to get past roadblocks and improve the performance of these systems for actual language comprehension tasks.

Ultraviolet and visible integrated photonics are enabling for applications in quantum information, sensing, and spectroscopy, among others. Few materials support low-loss photonics into the UV, and the relatively low refractive index of known depositable materials limits the achievable functionality. Here we present a high-index integrated photonics platform based on HfO$_2$ and Al$_2$O$_3$ composites deposited via Atomic Layer Deposition (ALD) with low loss in the visible and near-UV. We show that Al$_2$O$_3$ incorporation dramatically decreases bulk loss compared to pure HfO$_2$, consistent with inhibited crystallization due to the admixture of Al$_2$O$_3$. Composites exhibit refractive index $n$ following the average of that of HfO$_2$ and Al$_2$O$_3$, weighted by the HfO$_2$ fractional composition $x$. At $\lambda=375$ nm, composites with $x=0.67$ exhibit $n=2.08$ preserving most of HfO$_2$'s significantly higher index, and $3.8(7) $ dB/cm material loss. We further present fully etched and cladded waveguides, grating couplers, and ring resonators, realizing single-mode waveguide loss of $0.25(2)$ dB/cm inferred from resonators of 2.6 million intrinsic quality factor at $\lambda=729$ nm, $2.6(2)$ dB/cm at $\lambda=405$ nm, and $7.7(6)$ dB/cm at $\lambda=375$ nm. We measure the composite's thermo-optic coefficient (TOC) to be $2.44(3) \times 10^{-5}$ RIU/$^\circ$C near $\lambda=397$ nm. This work establishes (HfO$_2$)$_x$(Al$_2$O$_3$)$_{1-x}$ composites as a platform amenable to integration for low-loss, high-index photonics spanning the UV to NIR.

Data augmentation involves generating synthetic samples that resemble those in a given dataset. In resource-limited fields where high-quality data is scarce, augmentation plays a crucial role in increasing the volume of training data. This paper introduces a Bangla Text Data Augmentation (BDA) Framework that uses both pre-trained models and rule-based methods to create new variants of the text. A filtering process is included to ensure that the new text keeps the same meaning as the original while also adding variety in the words used. We conduct a comprehensive evaluation of the framework's effectiveness in Bangla text classification tasks. Our framework achieved significant improvement in F1 scores across five distinct datasets, delivering performance equivalent to models trained on 100% of the data while utilizing only 50% of the training dataset. Additionally, we explore the impact of data scarcity by progressively reducing the training data and augmenting it through BDA, resulting in notable F1 score enhancements. The study offers a thorough examination of BDA's performance, identifying key factors for optimal results and addressing its limitations through detailed analysis.

The advent of large language models (LLMs) has sparked significant interest in using natural language for preference learning. However, existing methods often suffer from high computational burdens, taxing human supervision, and lack of interpretability. To address these issues, we introduce MAPLE, a framework for large language model-guided Bayesian active preference learning. MAPLE leverages LLMs to model the distribution over preference functions, conditioning it on both natural language feedback and conventional preference learning feedback, such as pairwise trajectory rankings. MAPLE also employs active learning to systematically reduce uncertainty in this distribution and incorporates a language-conditioned active query selection mechanism to identify informative and easy-to-answer queries, thus reducing human burden. We evaluate MAPLE's sample efficiency and preference inference quality across two benchmarks, including a real-world vehicle route planning benchmark using OpenStreetMap data. This study aims to understand the factors that resulted in under-five children's malnutrition from the Multiple Indicator Cluster (MICS-2019) nationwide surveys and classify different malnutrition stages based on the four well-established machine learning algorithms, namely - Decision Tree (DT), Random Forest (RF), Support Vector Machine (SVM), and Multi-layer Perceptron (MLP) neural network. Accuracy, precision, recall, and F1 scores are obtained to evaluate the performance of each model. The statistical Pearson correlation coefficient analysis is also done to understand the significant factors related to a child's malnutrition. The eligible data sample for analysis was 21,858 among 24,686 samples from the dataset. Satisfactory and insightful results were obtained in each case and, the RF and MLP performed extraordinarily well. For RF, the accuracy was 98.55%, average precision 98.3%, recall value 95.68%, and F1 score 97.13%. For MLP, the accuracy was 98.69%, average precision 97.62%, recall 90.96%, and F1 score of 97.39%. The development of computing has made credit scoring approaches possible, with various machine learning (ML) and deep learning (DL) techniques becoming more and more valuable. While complex models yield more accurate predictions, their interpretability is often weakened, which is a concern for credit scoring that places importance on decision fairness. As features of the dataset are a crucial factor for the credit scoring system, we implement Linear Discriminant Analysis (LDA) as a feature reduction technique, which reduces the burden of the models complexity. We compared 6 different machine learning models, 1 deep learning model, and a hybrid model with and without using LDA. From the result, we have found our hybrid model, XG-DNN, outperformed other models with the highest accuracy of 99.45% and a 99% F1 score with LDA. Lastly, to interpret model decisions, we have applied 2 different explainable AI techniques named LIME (local) and Morris Sensitivity Analysis (global). An application of software known as an Intrusion Detection System (IDS) employs machine algorithms to identify network intrusions. Selective logging, safeguarding privacy, reputation-based defense against numerous attacks, and dynamic response to threats are a few of the problems that intrusion identification is used to solve. The biological system known as IoT has seen a rapid increase in high dimensionality and information traffic. Self-protective mechanisms like intrusion detection systems (IDSs) are essential for defending against a variety of attacks. On the other hand, the functional and physical diversity of IoT IDS systems causes significant issues. These attributes make it troublesome and unrealistic to completely use all IoT elements and properties for IDS self-security. For peculiarity-based IDS, this study proposes and implements a novel component selection and extraction strategy (our strategy). A five-ML algorithm model-based IDS for machine learning-based networks with proper hyperparamater tuning is presented in this paper by examining how the most popular feature selection methods and classifiers are combined, such as K-Nearest Neighbors (KNN) Classifier, Decision Tree (DT) Classifier, Random Forest (RF) Classifier, Gradient Boosting Classifier, and Ada Boost Classifier. The Random Forest (RF) classifier had the highest accuracy of 99.39%. The K-Nearest Neighbor (KNN) classifier exhibited the lowest performance among the evaluated models, achieving an accuracy of 94.84%. Sentiment analysis (SA) is a process of identifying the emotional tone or polarity within a given text and aims to uncover the user's complex emotions and inner feelings. While sentiment analysis has been extensively studied for languages like English, research in Bengali, remains limited, particularly for fine-grained sentiment categorization. This work aims to connect this gap by developing a novel approach that integrates rule-based algorithms with pre-trained language models. We developed a dataset from scratch, comprising over 15,000 manually labeled reviews. Next, we constructed a Lexicon Data Dictionary, assigning polarity scores to the reviews. We developed a novel rule based algorithm Bangla Sentiment Polarity Score (BSPS), an approach capable of generating sentiment scores and classifying reviews into nine distinct sentiment categories. To assess the performance of this method, we evaluated the classified sentiments using BanglaBERT, a pre-trained transformer-based language model. We also performed sentiment classification directly with BanglaBERT on the original data and evaluated this model's results. Our analysis revealed that the BSPS + BanglaBERT hybrid approach outperformed the standalone BanglaBERT model, achieving higher accuracy, precision, and nuanced classification across the nine sentiment categories. The results of our study emphasize the value and effectiveness of combining rule-based and pre-trained language model approaches for enhanced sentiment analysis in Bengali and suggest pathways for future research and application in languages with similar linguistic complexities., Comment: 13 pages, 12 figures

The search for evidence of past life on Mars presents a tremendous challenge that requires the usage of very advanced robotic technologies to overcome it. Current digital microscopic imagers and spectrometers used for astrobiological examination suffer from limitations such as insufficient resolution, narrow detection range, and lack of portability. To overcome these challenges, this research study presents modifications to the Phoenix rover to expand its capability for detecting biosignatures on Mars. This paper examines the modifications implemented on the Phoenix rover to enhance its capability to detect a broader spectrum of biosignatures. One of the notable improvements comprises the integration of advanced digital microscopic imagers and spectrometers, enabling high-resolution examination of soil samples. Additionally, the mechanical components of the device have been reinforced to enhance maneuverability and optimize subsurface sampling capabilities. Empirical investigations have demonstrated that Phoenix has the capability to navigate diverse geological environments and procure samples for the purpose of biomolecular analysis. The biomolecular instrumentation and hybrid analytical methods showcased in this study demonstrate considerable potential for future astrobiology missions on Mars. The goal of the present study is to analyze an application of deep learning models in order to augment the diagnostic performance of oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) with a longitudinal cohort study using the Histopathological Imaging Database for oral cancer analysis. The dataset consisted of 5192 images (2435 Normal and 2511 OSCC), which were allocated between training, testing, and validation sets with an estimated ratio repartition of about 52% for the OSCC group, and still, our performance measure was validated on a combination set that contains almost equal number of sample in this use case as entire database have been divided into half using stratified splitting technique based again near binary proportion but total distribution was around even. We selected four deep-learning architectures for evaluation in the present study: ResNet101, DenseNet121, VGG16, and EfficientnetB3. EfficientNetB3 was found to be the best, with an accuracy of 98.33% and F1 score (0.9844), and it took remarkably less computing power in comparison with other models. The subsequent one was DenseNet121, with 90.24% accuracy and an F1 score of 90.45%. Moreover, we employed the Local Interpretable Model-agnostic Explanations (LIME) method to clarify why EfficientNetB3 made certain decisions with its predictions to improve the explainability and trustworthiness of results. In this research, we explored the improvement in terms of multi-class disease classification via pre-trained language models over Medical-Abstracts-TC-Corpus that spans five medical conditions. We excluded non-cancer conditions and examined four specific diseases. We assessed four LLMs, BioBERT, XLNet, and BERT, as well as a novel base model (Last-BERT). BioBERT, which was pre-trained on medical data, demonstrated superior performance in medical text classification (97% accuracy). Surprisingly, XLNet followed closely (96% accuracy), demonstrating its generalizability across domains even though it was not pre-trained on medical data. LastBERT, a custom model based on the lighter version of BERT, also proved competitive with 87.10% accuracy (just under BERT's 89.33%). Our findings confirm the importance of specialized models such as BioBERT and also support impressions around more general solutions like XLNet and well-tuned transformer architectures with fewer parameters (in this case, LastBERT) in medical domain tasks., Comment: 7 Pages, 4 tables and 11 figures. This study investigates the dynamic relationship between the built environment and travel in Austin, Texas, over a 20-year period. Using three waves of household travel surveys from 1997, 2006, and 2017, the research employs a repeated cross-sectional approach to address the limitations of traditional longitudinal and cross-sectional studies. Methodologically, it integrates machine learning and inferential modeling to uncover non-linear relationships and threshold effects of built environment characteristics on travel. Findings reveal that the built environment serves as a sustainable tool for managing travel in the long term, contributing 50% or more to the total feature importance in predicting individual travel-surpassing the combined effects of personal and household characteristics. Increased transit accessibility, local and regional destination accessibility, population and employment density, and diversity significantly reduce travel, particularly within their identified thresholds, though the magnitude of their influence varies across time periods. These findings highlight the potential of smart growth policies-such as expanding transit accessibility, promoting high-density and mixed-use development, and discouraging single-use development and peripheral sprawl-as effective strategies to reduce car dependency and manage travel demand.

We present the design, development, and experimental validation of BlueME, a compact magnetoelectric (ME) antenna array system for underwater robot-to-robot communication. BlueME employs ME antennas operating at their natural mechanical resonance frequency to efficiently transmit and receive very-low-frequency (VLF) electromagnetic signals underwater. We outline the design, simulation, fabrication, and integration of the proposed system on low-power embedded platforms focusing on portable and scalable applications. For performance evaluation, we deployed BlueME on an autonomous surface vehicle (ASV) and a remotely operated vehicle (ROV) in open-water field trials. Our tests demonstrate that BlueME maintains reliable signal transmission at distances beyond 200 meters while consuming only 1 watt of power. Field trials show that the system operates effectively in challenging underwater conditions such as turbidity, obstacles, and multipath interference -- that generally affect acoustics and optics. Our analysis also examines the impact of complete submersion on system performance and identifies key deployment considerations. This work represents the first practical underwater deployment of ME antennas outside the laboratory, and implements the largest VLF ME array system to date. BlueME demonstrates significant potential for marine robotics and automation in multi-robot cooperative systems and remote sensor networks.

Hand-face interactions play a key role in many everyday tasks, providing insights into user habits, behaviors, intentions, and expressions. However, existing wearable sensing systems often struggle to track these interactions in daily settings due to their reliance on multiple sensors or privacy-sensitive, vision-based approaches. To address these challenges, we propose WristSonic, a wrist-worn active acoustic sensing system that uses speakers and microphones to capture ultrasonic reflections from hand, arm, and face movements, enabling fine-grained detection of hand-face interactions with minimal intrusion. By transmitting and analyzing ultrasonic waves, WristSonic distinguishes a wide range of gestures, such as tapping the temple, brushing teeth, and nodding, using a Transformer-based neural network architecture. This approach achieves robust recognition of 21 distinct actions with a single, low-power, privacy-conscious wearable. Software-defined network (SDN) is a new approach that allows network control to become directly programmable, and the underlying infrastructure can be abstracted from applications and network services. Control plane). When it comes to security, the centralization that this demands is ripe for a variety of cyber threats that are not typically seen in other network architectures. The authors in this research developed a novel machine-learning method to capture infections in networks. We applied the classifier to the UNSW-NB 15 intrusion detection benchmark and trained a model with this data. Random Forest and Decision Tree are classifiers used to assess with Gradient Boosting and AdaBoost. Out of these best-performing models was Gradient Boosting with an accuracy, recall, and F1 score of 99.87%,100%, and 99.85%, respectively, which makes it reliable in the detection of intrusions for SDN networks. The second best-performing classifier was also a Random Forest with 99.38% of accuracy, followed by Ada Boost and Decision Tree. The research shows that the reason that Gradient Boosting is so effective in this task is that it combines weak learners and creates a strong ensemble model that can predict if traffic belongs to a normal or malicious one with high accuracy. This paper indicates that the GBDT-IDS model is able to improve network security significantly and has better features in terms of both real-time detection accuracy and low false positive rates. In future work, we will integrate this model into live SDN space to observe its application and scalability. Android apps rely on application programming interfaces (APIs) to access various functionalities of Android devices. These APIs however are regularly updated to incorporate new features while the old APIs get deprecated. Even though the importance of updating deprecated API usages with the recommended replacement APIs has been widely recognized, it is non-trivial to update the deprecated API usages. Therefore, the usages of deprecated APIs linger in Android apps and cause compatibility issues in practice. This paper introduces GUPPY, an automated approach that utilizes large language models (LLMs) to update Android deprecated API usages. By employing carefully crafted prompts, GUPPY leverages GPT-4, one of the most powerful LLMs, to update deprecated-API usages, ensuring compatibility in both the old and new API levels. Additionally, GUPPY uses GPT-4 to generate tests, identify incorrect updates, and refine the API usage through an iterative process until the tests pass or a specified limit is reached. Our evaluation, conducted on 360 benchmark API usages from 20 deprecated APIs and an additional 156 deprecated API usages from the latest API levels 33 and 34, demonstrates GUPPY's advantages over the state-of-the-art techniques.

Neutrino-nucleus cross section measurements are needed to improve interaction modeling to meet the precision needs of neutrino experiments in efforts to measure oscillation parameters and search for physics beyond the Standard Model. We review the difficulties associated with modeling neutrino-nucleus interactions that lead to a dependence on event generators in oscillation analyses and cross section measurements alike. We then describe data-driven model validation techniques intended to address this model dependence. The method relies on utilizing various goodness-of-fit tests and the correlations between different observables and channels to probe the model for defects in the phase space relevant for the desired analysis. These techniques shed light on relevant mis-modeling, allowing it to be detected before it begins to bias the cross section results. We compare more commonly used model validation methods which directly validate the model against alternative ones to these data-driven techniques and show their efficacy with fake data studies. These studies demonstrate that employing data-driven model validation in cross section measurements represents a reliable strategy to produce robust results that will stimulate the desired improvements to interaction modeling.

AI and deep learning are two recent innovations that have made a big difference in helping to solve problems in the clinical space. Using clinical imaging and sound examination, they also work on improving their vision so that they can spot diseases early and correctly. Because there aren't enough trained HR, clinical professionals are asking for help with innovation because it helps them adapt to more patients. Aside from serious health problems like cancer and diabetes, the effects of respiratory infections are also slowly getting worse and becoming dangerous for society. Respiratory diseases need to be found early and treated quickly, so listening to the sounds of the lungs is proving to be a very helpful tool along with chest X-rays. The presented research hopes to use deep learning ideas based on Convolutional Brain Organization to help clinical specialists by giving a detailed and thorough analysis of clinical respiratory sound data for Ongoing Obstructive Pneumonic identification. We used MFCC, Mel-Spectrogram, Chroma, Chroma (Steady Q), and Chroma CENS from the Librosa AI library in the tests we ran. The new system could also figure out how serious the infection was, whether it was mild, moderate, or severe. The test results agree with the outcome of the deep learning approach that was proposed. The accuracy of the framework arrangement has been raised to a score of 96% on the ICBHI. Also, in the led tests, we used K-Crisp Cross-Approval with ten parts to make the presentation of the new deep learning approach easier to understand. Large neutrino liquid argon time projection chamber (LArTPC) experiments can broaden their physics reach by reconstructing and interpreting MeV-scale energy depositions, or blips, present in their data. We demonstrate new calorimetric and particle discrimination capabilities at the MeV energy scale using reconstructed blips in data from the MicroBooNE LArTPC at Fermilab. We observe a concentration of low energy ($<$3 MeV) blips around fiberglass mechanical support struts along the TPC edges with energy spectrum features consistent with the Compton edge of 2.614 MeV $^{208}$Tl decay $\gamma$ rays. These features are used to verify proper calibration of electron energy scales in MicroBooNE's data to few percent precision and to measure the specific activity of $^{208}$Tl in the fiberglass composing these struts, $(11.7 \pm 0.2 ~\text{(stat)} \pm 2.8~\text{(syst)})~\text{Bq/kg}$. Cosmogenically-produced blips above 3 MeV in reconstructed energy are used to showcase the ability of large LArTPCs to distinguish between low-energy proton and electron energy depositions. An enriched sample of low-energy protons selected using this new particle discrimination technique is found to be smaller in data than in dedicated CORSIKA cosmic ray simulations, suggesting either incorrect CORSIKA modeling of incident cosmic fluxes or particle transport modeling issues in Geant4., Comment: 19 pages, 15 figures total including the supplementary material section, 1 table. Zero Trust Architecture (ZTA) represents a transformative approach to modern cybersecurity, directly addressing the shortcomings of traditional perimeter-based security models. With the rise of cloud computing, remote work, and increasingly sophisticated cyber threats, perimeter defenses have proven ineffective at mitigating risks, particularly those involving insider threats and lateral movement within networks. ZTA shifts the security paradigm by assuming that no user, device, or system can be trusted by default, requiring continuous verification and the enforcement of least privilege access for all entities. This paper explores the key components of ZTA, such as identity and access management (IAM), micro-segmentation, continuous monitoring, and behavioral analytics, and evaluates their effectiveness in reducing vulnerabilities across diverse sectors, including finance, healthcare, and technology. Through case studies and industry reports, the advantages of ZTA in mitigating insider threats and minimizing attack surfaces are discussed. This study applies Bayesian models to predict hotel booking cancellations, a key challenge affecting resource allocation, revenue, and customer satisfaction in the hospitality industry. Using a Kaggle dataset with 36,285 observations and 17 features, Bayesian Logistic Regression and Beta-Binomial models were implemented. The logistic model, applied to 12 features and 5,000 randomly selected observations, outperformed the Beta-Binomial model in predictive accuracy. Key predictors included the number of adults, children, stay duration, lead time, car parking space, room type, and special requests. Model evaluation using Leave-One-Out Cross-Validation (LOO-CV) confirmed strong alignment between observed and predicted outcomes, demonstrating the model's robustness. Special requests and parking availability were found to be the strongest predictors of cancellation. This Bayesian approach provides a valuable tool for improving booking management and operational efficiency in the hotel industry.

Gallbladder cancer (GBC) is the most frequent cause of disease among biliary tract neoplasms. Identifying the molecular mechanisms and biomarkers linked to GBC progression has been a significant challenge in scientific research. Few recent studies have explored the roles of biomarkers in GBC. Our study aimed to identify biomarkers in GBC using machine learning (ML) and bioinformatics techniques. We compared GBC tumor samples with normal samples to identify differentially expressed genes (DEGs) from two microarray datasets (GSE100363, GSE139682) obtained from the NCBI GEO database. A total of 146 DEGs were found, with 39 up-regulated and 107 down-regulated genes. Functional enrichment analysis of these DEGs was performed using Gene Ontology (GO) terms and REACTOME pathways through DAVID. The protein-protein interaction network was constructed using the STRING database. To identify hub genes, we applied three ranking algorithms: Degree, MNC, and Closeness Centrality. The intersection of hub genes from these algorithms yielded 11 hub genes. Simultaneously, two feature selection methods (Pearson correlation and recursive feature elimination) were used to identify significant gene subsets. We then developed ML models using SVM and RF on the GSE100363 dataset, with validation on GSE139682, to determine the gene subset that best distinguishes GBC samples. The hub genes outperformed the other gene subsets. Finally, NTRK2, COL14A1, SCN4B, ATP1A2, SLC17A7, SLIT3, COL7A1, CLDN4, CLEC3B, ADCYAP1R1, and MFAP4 were identified as crucial genes, with SLIT3, COL7A1, and CLDN4 being strongly linked to GBC development and prediction.

Large Language Models (LLMs) are gaining significant popularity in recent years for specialized tasks using prompts due to their low computational cost. Standard methods like prefix tuning utilize special, modifiable tokens that lack semantic meaning and require extensive training for best performance, often falling short. In this context, we propose a novel method called Semantic Knowledge Tuning (SK-Tuning) for prompt and prefix tuning that employs meaningful words instead of random tokens. This method involves using a fixed LLM to understand and process the semantic content of the prompt through zero-shot capabilities. Following this, it integrates the processed prompt with the input text to improve the model's performance on particular tasks. Our experimental results show that SK-Tuning exhibits faster training times, fewer parameters, and superior performance on tasks such as text classification and understanding compared to other tuning methods. Audio separation in real-world scenarios, where mixtures contain a variable number of sources, presents significant challenges due to limitations of existing models, such as over-separation, under-separation, and dependence on predefined training sources. We propose OpenSep, a novel framework that leverages large language models (LLMs) for automated audio separation, eliminating the need for manual intervention and overcoming source limitations. OpenSep uses textual inversion to generate captions from audio mixtures with off-the-shelf audio captioning models, effectively parsing the sound sources present. It then employs few-shot LLM prompting to extract detailed audio properties of each parsed source, facilitating separation in unseen mixtures. Additionally, we introduce a multi-level extension of the mix-and-separate training framework to enhance modality alignment by separating single source sounds and mixtures simultaneously. Extensive experiments demonstrate OpenSep's superiority in precisely separating new, unseen, and variable sources in challenging mixtures, outperforming SOTA baseline methods. In the noisy intermediate scale quantum (NISQ) era, the control over the qubits is limited due to the errors caused by quantum decoherence, crosstalk, and imperfect calibration. Hence, it is necessary to reduce the size of the large-scale classical data, such as images, when they are to be processed by quantum networks. Conventionally input classical data are reduced in the classical domain using classical networks such as autoencoders and, subsequently, analyzed in the quantum domain. These conventional techniques involve training an enormous number of parameters, making them computationally costly. In this paper, a dynamic patch-based quantum domain data reduction network with a classical attention mechanism is proposed to avoid such data reductions, and subsequently coupled with a novel quantum classifier to perform classification tasks. The architecture processes the classical data sequentially in patches and reduces them using a quantum convolutional-inspired reduction network and further enriches them using a self-attention technique, which utilizes a classical mask derived from simple statistical operations on the native classical data, after measurement. The reduced representation is passed through a quantum classifier, which re-encodes it into quantum states, processes them through quantum ansatzes, and finally measures them to predict classes. This training process involves a joint optimization scheme that considers both the reduction and classifier networks, making the reduction operation dynamic. Photonic topological insulators provide unidirectional, robust, wavelength-selective transport of light at an interface while keeping it insulated at the bulk of the material. The non-trivial topology results in an immunity to backscattering, sharp turns, and fabrication defects. This work leverages these unique properties to design a 2-channel optical demultiplexer based on a lithium niobate photonic topological insulator with piezoelectric switch-off capabilities. A photonic topological insulator design for the demultiplexer allows for good wavelength selectivity, crosstalk as low as $-$54 dB, and better isolation between output channels. The primary operating wavelengths presented are the telecommunication wavelengths of 1310 nm and 1550 nm, but the use of the lithium niobate material allows operation at multiple operating wavelengths. Furthermore, we propose a post-fabrication method to switch off the topological protection and, thus, optical transmittance via an applied voltage utilizing the inverse piezoelectric effect of lithium niobate. This paper presents DENSER, an efficient and effective approach leveraging 3D Gaussian splatting (3DGS) for the reconstruction of dynamic urban environments. While several methods for photorealistic scene representations, both implicitly using neural radiance fields (NeRF) and explicitly using 3DGS have shown promising results in scene reconstruction of relatively complex dynamic scenes, modeling the dynamic appearance of foreground objects tend to be challenging, limiting the applicability of these methods to capture subtleties and details of the scenes, especially far dynamic objects. To this end, we propose DENSER, a framework that significantly enhances the representation of dynamic objects and accurately models the appearance of dynamic objects in the driving scene. Instead of directly using Spherical Harmonics (SH) to model the appearance of dynamic objects, we introduce and integrate a new method aiming at dynamically estimating SH bases using wavelets, resulting in better representation of dynamic objects appearance in both space and time. Besides object appearance, DENSER enhances object shape representation through densification of its point cloud across multiple scene frames, resulting in faster convergence of model training. Extensive evaluations on KITTI dataset show that the proposed approach significantly outperforms state-of-the-art methods by a wide margin. ANNZ is a fast and simple algorithm which utilises artificial neural networks (ANNs), it was known as one of the pioneers of machine learning approaches to photometric redshift estimation decades ago. We enhanced the algorithm by introducing new activation functions like tanh, softplus, SiLU, Mish and ReLU variants; its new performance is then vigorously tested on legacy samples like the Luminous Red Galaxy (LRG) and Stripe-82 samples from SDSS, as well as modern galaxy samples like the Physics of the Accelerating Universe Survey (PAUS). This work focuses on testing the robustness of activation functions with respect to the choice of ANN architectures, particularly on its depth and width, in the context of galaxy photometric redshift estimation. Our upgraded algorithm, which we named ANNZ+, shows that the tanh and Leaky ReLU activation functions provide more consistent and stable results across deeper and wider architectures with > 1 per cent improvement in root-mean-square error ($\sigma_{\textrm{RMS}}$) and 68th percentile error ($\sigma_{68}$) when tested on SDSS data sets. While assessing its capabilities in handling high dimensional inputs, we achieved an improvement of 11 per cent in $\sigma_{\textrm{RMS}}$ and 6 per cent in $\sigma_{68}$ with the tanh activation function when tested on the 40-narrowband PAUS dataset; it even outperformed ANNZ2, its supposed successor, by 44 per cent in $\sigma_{\textrm{RMS}}$. This justifies the effort to upgrade the 20-year-old ANNZ, allowing it to remain viable and competitive within the photo-z community today. Automatic scene generation is an essential area of research with applications in robotics, recreation, visual representation, training and simulation, education, and more. This survey provides a comprehensive review of the current state-of-the-arts in automatic scene generation, focusing on techniques that leverage machine learning, deep learning, embedded systems, and natural language processing (NLP). We categorize the models into four main types: Variational Autoencoders (VAEs), Generative Adversarial Networks (GANs), Transformers, and Diffusion Models. Each category is explored in detail, discussing various sub-models and their contributions to the field. We also review the most commonly used datasets, such as COCO-Stuff, Visual Genome, and MS-COCO, which are critical for training and evaluating these models. Methodologies for scene generation are examined, including image-to-3D conversion, text-to-3D generation, UI/layout design, graph-based methods, and interactive scene generation. Evaluation metrics such as Frechet Inception Distance (FID), Kullback-Leibler (KL) Divergence, Inception Score (IS), Intersection over Union (IoU), and Mean Average Precision (mAP) are discussed in the context of their use in assessing model performance. The survey identifies key challenges and limitations in the field, such as maintaining realism, handling complex scenes with multiple objects, and ensuring consistency in object relationships and spatial arrangements. Food computing is both important and challenging in computer vision (CV). It significantly contributes to the development of CV algorithms due to its frequent presence in datasets across various applications, ranging from classification and instance segmentation to 3D reconstruction. The polymorphic shapes and textures of food, coupled with high variation in forms and vast multimodal information, including language descriptions and nutritional data, make food computing a complex and demanding task for modern CV algorithms. 3D food modeling is a new frontier for addressing food related problems, due to its inherent capability to deal with random camera views and its straightforward representation for calculating food portion size. However, the primary hurdle in the development of algorithms for food object analysis is the lack of nutrition values in existing 3D datasets. Moreover, in the broader field of 3D research, there is a critical need for domain-specific test datasets. To bridge the gap between general 3D vision and food computing research, we introduce MetaFood3D. This dataset consists of 743 meticulously scanned and labeled 3D food objects across 131 categories, featuring detailed nutrition information, weight, and food codes linked to a comprehensive nutrition database. Our MetaFood3D dataset emphasizes intra-class diversity and includes rich modalities such as textured mesh files, RGB-D videos, and segmentation masks.
