Існує багато складних проблем в аналізі рівнянь. Для того, щоб спростити їх розв’язання, можуть бути використані інтегральні перетворення, за допомогою яких можна відобразити оригінальне рівняння в більш просте рівняння-зображення, після чого розв’язок рівняння- зображення можна порівняно легко проаналізувати повернувшись до оригінального рівняння за допомогою оберненого інтегрального перетворення. Перетворення Ельзакі отримано з класичного інтеграла Фур’є, на основі математичної простоти перетворення Ельзакі і його фундаментальних властивостей. Перетворення Ельзакі було введено Тарігом Ельзакі для полегшення процесу звичайних рівнянь і рівнянь з частинними похідними. Зазвичай перетворення Фур'є, Лапласа та Сумуду є зручними математичними інструментами для розв’язування диференціальних рівнянь. Також для розв’язання можна використовувати перетворення Ельзакі та деякі його основні властивості диференціальних рівняннь. Перетворення Ельзакі визначене для функції експоненціального росту. Мета дослідження – показати застосування нового перетворення і його ефективність при лінійних диференціальних рівнянь. There are many complex problems in the analysis of equations. In order to to simplify their solution, integrated ones can be used transformations that can be used to display the original equation in a simpler equation-image, after which the solution of the equation- images can be relatively easily analyzed by returning to of the original equation using the inverse integral transformation. Elsaki's transformation is derived from the classical Fourier integral, based on the mathematical simplicity of the Elzaki transformation and its fundamental properties. The transformation of Alsace was introduced by Tarig Elzaki to facilitate the process of ordinary equations and partial differential equations. Fourier, Laplace, and Sumud transforms are usually convenient mathematical tools for solving differential equations. You can also use transformations to solve them Alsace and some of its basic properties of differential equations. The Elsaki transformation is defined for the exponential function growth. The purpose of the study is to show the application of the new transformation and its efficiency in linear differential equations.

In recent year, the torrential rain, which is known as “guerrilla heavy rain”, occurred in many parts of Japan. The large-scale flood attacked us and caused serious damage. Coveying accurate information a disaster prevention to people is necessary for the reduction of serious damage. It is especially important to forecast where the disaster may be expected to happen. The rapid rising water level has the possibility of leading to the flood flow, and we must be accurately informed where it is happening. In this paper, the model experiment and the numerical simulation are carried out on the river confluence area. The calculation is executed by the finite volume method using the code of CFD2000. The vortex is only observed in the experiment, but the occurrence of the vortex and the upstream flow for upstream are seen in the calculation. The results of numerical simulations qualitatively show the experiment well, except some problems. It will be necessary to improve the model about problems in the future.

本研究は，階段部も含めた小規模地下空間での氾濫水の挙動を解析モデルにより精度よく予測することを目的としている。まず，地下空間内の氾濫水の挙動に大きな影響を及ぼす階段部のみを対象として，実物大階段模型にVOF 法を用いた三次元数値解析手法を適用した結果，流況をおおむね再現できた。つぎに，小規模地下空間の実験模型（縮尺1/15）の浸水挙動に適用した。その結果，VOF 法を用いた三次元数値解析法は小規模地下空間の内の氾濫水の挙動に適用可能であることがわかった。, The purpose of this study is that the inundation process of a small underground space included stairs is predicted precisely by numerical simulation. A 3-D numerical simulation model with VOF method is applied to a stair and a small underground space in urban flood. The stair which is simulated is a full-sized hydraulic model, and the small underground space is a hydraulic model with 1/15 scale. It is found that the numerical simulation model can be applied to the stair in urban flood, and the computation result of the small underground space shows good agreement with the experimental result.

リアルタイム水文・気象観測データを利用し，広域分布型流出予測モデルを予測エンジンとする広域分布型実時間流出予測システムを開発する。これにより中小河川流域を含む任意の流域の洪水予測情報の実時間での提供を目指す。デモンストレーション流域として淀川流域(枚方上流域7, 281km2)を対象としてシステム開発を進める。予測モデルには著者らが開発を進めている広域分布型流出予測モデルを実時間予測対応に改良したモデルを用いる。リアルタイム水文・気象観測情報は，京都大学防災研究所と国土交通省近畿地方整備局淀川河川事務所との間に開通した光ファイバー専用情報通信網を介して時々刻々収集するとともに，（財）日本気象協会から提供される現況・予測降雨情報を用いる。, A real-time distributed flood prediction system is developed for the Yodo River basin (7, 281km2). The system provides 6 hrs-ahead predictions every hour. The predictions include dam reservoir inflows, outflows and reservoir stages located in the catchment and 1, 707 places of river discharges at about 3 km intervals along the channel networks shown on 1:25000 topographic maps. Topography of the watershed is modeled with 250 m grid DEMs and water movement of mountainous slopes and rivers are routed using the kinematic wave model. To drive the prediction system, 6 hrs distributed rainfall prediction with 2.5 km grid resolution provided from the Japan Weather Association and the Japan Meteorological Agency is used. The interactive real-time web-based data displaying system is also developed.

洪水を予測するうえで，水文量の空間分布をどの程度の分解能で流出予測に反映するべきかを検討する。水文量の空間分布を統計的に取り扱うことができる最大の流域面積を基準面積と定義し，分布型流出モデルを用いた数値シミュレーションによりその定量化を行う。基準面積に影響する要素として，降雨の空間分布，流域特性の空間分布，河道網の効果に着目し，それらが相互に関連して基準面積を決定づける内実を明らかにする。分析の結果，流域面積が150km2から1, 500km2の範囲では，基準面積は流域面積に関わらず絶対的な大きさで決まり，河道網の効果が主にその大きさを規定していることが分かった。また，わが国の実流域を対象とした洪水予測の例では，降雨分布の位置を陽に取り扱わないことによるピーク流量の差異を5％許容すると基準面積は300km2になることが明らかになった。, This paper investigates the appropriate spatial resolution to reflect hydrologic variabilities for flood simulation with rainfall-runoff models. It defines Model Building Unit (MBU) as a maximum catchment area in which statistical representation of the input variables is acceptable. Interactions among rainfall distributions, catchment distributions, and river cannnel effects determine the size of MBU. This paper clarifies the interactions and quantifies MBU by numerical simulations with a distributed rainfall-runoff model. The simulation results showed that MBU is restricted mainly by river channel effects and it is quantified as absolute size regardless the catchment scale if it is between 150 km2 and 1500km2. MBU is 300 km2 for 5% of allowable relative peak error.

気象レーダーを用いた確率的な降雨予測手法と観測更新手法を導入した分布型流出モデルとを組み合わせた実時間洪水予測システムを開発する。まず始めにレーダー降雨データを外挿して得られる決定論的な降雨予測値に降雨場の予測誤差を導入し，起こり得る多数の予測降雨場を発生させる。予測誤差は，現在時刻の予測誤差特性を反映させた確率場モデルによって発生させる。次に，発生させた多数の降雨場を分布型流出予測モデルに入力し，河川流量のアンサンブル予測を実施する。分布型流出予測モデルにはカルマンフィルターを導入し，オンラインで入手できる水文情報をモデル状態量に反映させる。分布型流出予測モデルにカルマンフィルターを適用するに当たっては，状態量の観測更新・予測更新のためにモンテカルロシミュレーションを始めとしていくつかの工夫を施している．, A real-time flood forecast system is proposed with stochastic radar rainfall forecasts and recursive measurement update in a distributed hydrologic model. In the first part of the system, a radar image extrapolation model gives deterministic rainfall predictions and error fields are simulated to offer probable variation on the deterministic predictions. The error field simulation uses a random field generation method based on an analyzed error structure of the current time rainfall prediction. Then, the probable rainfall fields with generated error fields are given to a distributed hydrologic model to achieve an ensemble runoff prediction. In the second part of the system, the distributed model is coupled with the Kalman filter to utilize online hydrologic information by several techniques including Monte Carlo simulation scheme.

本論分は，分布型流出モデルとモンテカルロシミュレーションを用いた確率論的降雨パターン発生手法，および，実時間での洪水予測手法を結合させ，流域内の確率論的洪水予測を実施し，避難の意思決定支援システムを提案するものである。シミュレートされた洪水予測分布を集約し，洪水の確率分布とすると同時に，河川に設定された計画高水に対する氾濫の時間的確率予測として危険度を表現する。また，流域内での土地利用・標高情報を用いた水位予測モデルを結合させ，氾濫確率の危険度への変換を基に氾濫の危険性表示と必要な避難手順の提示可能性を示唆している。, A probabilistic approach to evacuation decision-making is preferred over the traditional approaches based on ‘best guess’ flood predictions as decision can be made based on an understanding of the risk involved and the potential outcomes of each decision. As an inundation risk level is assigned in real-time to each area within the target watershed, the optimal evacuation path can be rapidly identified from a number of alternatives by selecting that route which avoids at high risk. Application of the proposed framework with distributed runoff model is discussed considering the Nagara River watershed.

2004年（平成16年）10月20日に，大阪市付近に上陸した台風23号により由良川沿川の四市一町（福知山市・舞鶴市・綾部市・宮津市・大江町）は，浸水家屋約1700戸，浸水面積2600haに達する大きな被害を受けた。この台風23号は福知山上流域で流域平均2日雨量276mmの降雨をもたらし，福知山水位観測所では，昭和28年に福知山市内で浸水家屋数約3800戸に達する大災害をもたらした台風13号に次ぐ水位が観測された。本研究では，こうした大規模洪水が物理的な背景にもとづいた分布型降雨流出モデルで適切に再現できるかを検討している。ここではまず2004年洪水を分布型流出モデルにより再現した。次に，2004年洪水を再現可能なモデルが過去の小中規模洪水を適切に再現するかを検討した。その結果、同じモデルパラメータの値を用いて，同地域においては中小洪水から計画規模に匹敵するような大洪水まで概ね良好に再現できることがわかった。, This paper analyzes the Yuragawa river flood by Typhoon No.23 on 19-22 October 2004 which brought the large number of casualties and loss of asset especially at the downstream region of the Yuragawa catchment. First, the discharge-hydrograph at Fukuchiyama during the flood is reproduced by a distributed rainfall-runoff model. The simulated discharge-hydrograph after the parameter adjustment shows a good fit with the observed discharge-hydrograph. Afterwards, the model with the same parameter is applied to two past-medium-size floods, which also exhibit the good performance of the model. From these applications, it is clarified that the physically-based distributed rainfall-runoff model has a high potential to reproduce floods of any size in the catchment.

本報では，内水氾濫の常習地となっている長崎県諫早低平地を対象として，河川網，低平地，隣接斜面からなる統合型氾濫解析モデルを構築した。この数値モデルによって，1999 年7 月23 日の豪雨災害の浸水域を再現したところ，降雨観測地点付近では比較的良好に再現することができた。また，浸水被害軽減策として，領域内の排水機場の排水能力を増加させた場合のシミュレーションを行った結果，各地区に50～100m3/s の増強を行えば著しく浸水被害を軽減できることや，排水能力の増加量と浸水面積の減少量との関係を知ることができた。さらに，雨水の排水先となる本明川の水位がどの程度上昇するかも知ることができた。, In this study, a comprehensive inundation flow model, which comprises one-dimensional unsteady flow model, two-dimensional inundation flow model and runoff model using kinematic wave method, is developed and applied to the Isahaya low-lying area, Nagasaki Prefecture. The validity of this model is considered by comparing with the actual records of inundated area and water level of the river network. Then, as the application example of this model to countermeasures against flood disaster, the effects by extending pump capacity on the inundated area and on the water level of the river network are discussed.

足羽川流域においては，2004 年7 月に梅雨前線の集中豪雨によって河川の流下能力を大幅に超える洪水が発生し，流域の各所で激甚な被害を被った。本研究においては，足羽川中流部の水害の実態を詳細に調べ，山地河川の水害の発生構造を検討した。その結果，谷底平野の形態，河道湾曲部における土地利用，橋梁や取水堰などの河道内の構造物，土石の堆積による河床上昇，各地区内にある道路や鉄道線路の状態が水害の発生に大きな影響を与えることがわかった。また，得られた知見に基づいて考えられる治水対策について述べた。, Severe flood disasters due to heavy rainfall occurred in the Asuwa River basin on July 18, 2004. In this paper, the flood disasters in mountainous area of the basin are discussed by investigating the aerial photographs taken after the flood and the results of precise field surveys. The main conclusions are that the aspects of flood disaster are characterized by the following points; (1) the characteristics of flood plains in valley, (2) land usage around river channels, (3) obstructing effect by bridges and barrages, (4) sedimentation in river channels and (5) the role of roads for inundation.

平成16 年7 月18 日，福井県の足羽川流域において既往最大となる洪水が発生し，福井市街地で足羽川の堤防が決壊する他，流域全体で甚大な洪水災害が発生した。治水計画を考える場合，ある確率規模の計画降雨を定めて基本高水を算定することが計画の基本とされている。しかし，中小河川ではその算定の元となる水文データの蓄積が十分でなく，特に平成16 年7 月洪水のような計画規模を上回る洪水データはモデル同定時にはほとんど利用できない。本研究では，流量規模の異なる既存の洪水から同定したモデルを用いて，今回の洪水をどの程度再現することができるかを分析する。また，ここで得られた流量の推定結果および福井豪雨時の水文データをもとに福井豪雨から得られた教訓を示し，中小河川流域における治水計画に関して考察する。, On July 18, 2004, the largest flood since hydrologic observation has begun happened at the Asuwa River basin in Fukui Prefecture, Japan. The Bai-u front brought heavy rainfall with 265mm in six hours. The city area of Fukui was heavily inundated due to by dyke breaks along the Asuwa River; the upper parts of the Asuwa River basin were severely damaged by flood and sediment disaster. When planning flood control in Japan, to estimate the design flood using a rainfall-runoff model with a design rainfall having some exceedence probability is fundamental. While the acculturation of hydrologic data to estimate a design flood is quite insufficient especially in small scale basins. In particular, information of quite large floods near or above the magnitude of a design flood is less available. In this study, how well the heavy flood in 2004 is predicted using a state of the art distributed rainfall-runoff model. Adding the result of the predicted discharge and observed hydrologic data for the Fukui heavy rainfall, lessons studied from the disaster and flood control planning for small scale ungauged catchment are discussed.

通年においてわが国へ上陸する台風はは2～3個であるのに対して，昨年（2004年）は10個にも達し，観測史上最大の個数であった．台風0416と0418号では瀬戸内海に大きな高潮が発生し，多くの犠牲者が出るとともに，多大な被害を被った．また，高知沿岸を走った台風0423号では防潮堤のパラペットが破壊され，越波による浸水で数名の死者が出た．さらに，台風による集中豪雨によって河川が氾濫して，福井県や新潟県で多くの住民が避難生活を余儀なくされた．そこでは河川堤防の決壊が氾濫水域を拡大し，大量の土砂を堤内地に運び込み，被害を拡大させた．このような氾濫災害の発生は，わが国が水害に対して十分に対応できていないことを如実に示していると言える．本報告は，このような氾濫災害を軽減するために21世紀COEプロジェクトの一環として行ってきた研究のうち，現在までに得られた成果の一部を概述したものである．, Last year of 2004 large and various disasters happened due to landing-on of the quite large number of typhoons and the local heavy rainfalls. Thus, our countermeasure against water related disasters is not sufficient even now. The present paper describes following tentative results which have been obtained in our COE project: 1) Quantitative effect of collaborative flood control by a group of dams, 2) Inundation of underground space in urban area, 3) New prediction procedure of suspended load, 4) Storm surge disasters in Korea and 4) Coastal damages of storm barriers and breakwaters.

市街地および地下空間における洪水氾濫に関する研究を行ってきた結果，浸水時の地下空間の危険性が明らかとなった。その対策として，地下空間からの避難が最重要であるが，避難困難度に関する定量的な評価があまりなされていなかった。本報は，実物大の階段模型および地下室のドア模型を用い，浸水時の避難体験実験をするとともに，水深，流速などの水理量および避難時の脚部に作用する力の計測などを行い，地下空間からの避難に関する定量的な検討を行った。その結果，階段実験では地上水深0.3m，ドア模型ではドア前面水深0.4mが、避難困難となる水深であることが知れ，今後の防災対策に有用な知見を得た。, Many floods caused by heavy rainfalls and typhoons hit Japan in recent years, and some floods attacked fully urbanized areas. Tokyo, Nagoya and Fukuoka were inundated by urban floods, and some parts of flood water intruded into underground spaces. During the floods, underground shopping arcades and subway stations were inundated. The inundation in underground space is one of problems to resolve urgently. One of effective measures to reduce the damage of flood disaster is quick evacuation from the underground spaces. In this paper, evacuation from underground spaces has been tested by using real scale models of staircases and doors. From the results, it found that water depth of 0.3m on the ground is a critical depth for evacuation from underground space through staircases and 0.4m deep in front of the door is the limit to open the door.

1999年12月にベネズエラ北部のカリブ海沿岸で発生した洪水・土砂災害は, 災害原因となった自然現象ではわが国で起こったものからかけ離れて大規模であったとは言えず, また, 災害の起こり方においても, 規模の差はあるものの, わが国で生じているものと同様であった。犠牲者数でわが国の災害と大差が生じた原因は, 無秩序な土地利用と防災対策の立ち遅れであり, とくに都市流入人口によるスラムが危険地域に立地することが災害を激しいものにしている。本文では, 災害発生の自然的・社会的条件の分析と, 日本の状況との比較を通して上記の問題点を明らかにし, 今後の対応策についても言及している。, A severe rainfall in December 1999 caused numerous landslides, debris flows and flash floods on the Caribbean coast of Venezuela, and it killed 25, 000 to 50, 000 people.The natural phenomena themselves were as large and severe as the ones used to occur in Japan, and the types of hazards were also similar.Thereason for the far larger number of casualties than the Japanese cases is attributable to the lawless land utilization and the lagging of the countermeasures.The most important and difficult problem among othersis how to cope with the slums that locate on the most dangerous areas

2000年9月11日-12日に, 愛知県を中心とした東海地方で豪雨災害が発生した。被害は愛知県を中心に, 全国で死者10名, 住家全・半壊・一部破損約310棟, 住家の床上・床下浸水約71, 300棟などであった。浸水棟数は全国的に見て18年ぶりの大きな事例であり, 床上浸水の割合が高かった。最多雨域の2日間降水量は約600㎜, 最大1時間降水量は110㎜以上を記録した。1901年以降の愛知県・岐阜県南部の記録と比較すると, 日降水量では東海地方の平野部における最近100年間の最大級豪雨と考えてよいが, 山麓・山間部には今回を上回る記録が数事例ある。1時間降水量は過去の最大値と同程度であった。東海地方における過去の顕著豪雨である1965年9月, 1972年7月, 1976年9月の事例と比較すると, 1-5時間降水量では, これらの事例の記録を上回ったが, 日本最大記録を越えるほどではなかった。豪雨域(2日間降水量400mm以上)の面積はこれらの事例の中で群を抜いて大きく, 最多2日間の降水総量(降水量×面積)もこれらの事例を上回った。, Heavy rainfall disaster occurred in the Toukai district around Nagoya City on 11 and 12 September 2000.According to Fire and Disaster Management Agency, 10 people died, about 310 houses were destroyed and about 71, 300 houses inundated all over Japan. The number of inundated buildings was the biggest after 1982, and the ratio of the over floor inundation was high. In the heaviest rainfall area, two-day precipitation was about 600 mm, 24-hour precipitation was about 550 mm, and maximum hourly precipitation was about 110 mm. The 24-hour precipitation was the highest in the past about 100 years in the Toukai district plain area, while the entire hourly precipitation was comparative with the historical maximum records, which had been recorded several times in the past about 100 years. One to five-hour precipitations in the present case were record-breaking, compared with the heavy rainfall case in the Toukai district on September 1965, July 1972, and September 1976. The area and volume of heavy precipitation are also compared. The area with more than 400mm two-day precipitation was remarkably greater at the present case than that of other three events. Two-day precipitation volume over the Tokai district was about 800 million m3, which is greater than the three events.

東海豪雨によって名古屋市天白区野並地区で発生した浸水被害を対象とし, 浸水状況を再現するシミュレーションモデルを構築した.次に, このモデルを用いて, いくつかの想定シナリオのもとでの浸水シミュレーションを行い, 浸水被害の原因や対策について考察した.その結果, 計画規模を越えるような豪雨に対処するためには, 排水のネットワーク構造を考えた対策を考えねばならないことが明らかとなった., A simple inundation simulation model is applied to the Nonami district in Nagoya City, and the causes and countermeasures for the urban flood in the Nonami district due to the heavy rainfall in theTokai region in 2000 are studied.The model estimates inundation stages with the continuity equation and the depth-volume relationship for the Nonami district generated from a 10m grid Digital Elevation Model. The computed maximum inundation depth shows a good agreement with the observed inundation depth. By using the model, inundation simulations are carried out under some scenarios. Findings from the simulations are that the maximum inundation depth does not change even if the pump system at the Nonami district worked without failure; the pump system needs more than 2.5 times capacity to cope with the heavy rainfall; and if the Nonami district does not have inflows from the adjacent basins, inundation damage is quite small. The simulation results indicate that a drainage system should manage a network of basin water movement in order to deal with a heavy rainfall beyond a design rainfall.

本報では, 都市域で頻発する内水氾濫に着目し, 山地からの流出, 河川網の洪水流, 堤内地の氾濫流, および下水道による雨水排水過程を表現することのできる総合的な氾濫解析手法を提示するとともに, それを低平地河川である寝屋川流域に適用した。その際に, 治水緑地, 流域調節池, 排水機場などの各種治水対策施設も考慮に入れた。その結果, 本モデルにより都市域の内水氾濫機構が適切に表現できること, および豪雨時の対象域の危険性が確認された。, Recently in Japan, inner water inundation occurs frequently in urban area. An inundation flow model, which treats runoff from the mountainous area, flood flow in the river network, inundation flow in the drainage basin and drainage through sewerage system, is developed in this study. In the application of this model to Neya River basin, a low-lying area, flood control facilities are also taken into account, such as flood control zones, regulating ponds and pump stations. 2000年9月11-12日, 東海地方は台風14号の影響により活発化した停滞前線(秋雨前線)による激しい集中豪雨に見舞われた.名古屋市周辺では2日間最大雨量, 日最大雨量, 時間最大雨量がそれぞれ, 600mm, 500mm, 114mmに達した.この豪雨により愛知県を中心に東海地方各地で大きな洪水被害が生じた.名古屋市およびその近郊の河川では, 10箇所で河川の破堤が生じ, また多くの箇所で溢水が起こった.とくに新川左岸の破堤は大規模な外水氾濫をもたらした.自治省消防庁によれば, 死者10名, 家屋の損壊310棟, 浸水家屋は71, 300棟に達している.浸水家屋数は過去10年の浸水被害のなかで最大である.本報は名古屋を中心とした降雨状況および洪水被害を取りまとめ, 災害の特徴を整理している., Heavy rainfall disaster occurred around Aichi prefecture including Nagoya City, central Japan from 11 to 12 September, 2000. This report describes this heavy rainfall disaster. Around Nagoya City, maximum 2 day, daily, and hourly precipitations were about 600 mm, 500 mm and 114 mm, respectively. They are the maximum records at Nagoya weather office since 1891. Due to this rainfall, 10 embankments collapsed and overtopping flow over embankment occurred in many places around Nagoya City.According to Fire and Disaster Management Agency, 10 people died, about 310 houses were destroyed and about 71, 300 houses flooded. The figure of flooded houses is the largest during recent 10 years.

本報は, kinematic wave法による流出解析と一般曲線座標を用いた平面二次元の氾濫解析を結合することにより, 河川親水域の豪雨時の流況変化を表現できる水理・水文モデルを開発したものである。そして, このモデルを用いて, 京都市民の憩いの水辺のひとつである賀茂川の柊野公園周辺を対象とし, 豪雨時の水難事故発生の危険性について考察を加えている。解析の結果, 2000年8月の谷川岳湯檜曽川の水難事故時と同様の降雨条件下では, この公園周辺でも水難事故が十分起こり得ることが明らかとなった。また前方集中型降雨の降雨強度と, 浸水深の上昇や流速の増加に要する時間との関係を整理することにより, 豪雨時における河川親水域の危険度表示の方法を提案している。, The mathematical model which can simulate inundation process in river recreation site due to heavy brainfall has been developed. This model comprises the runoff model by the kinematic wave method and the 2-D inundation flow model based on the generalized curvilinear coordinate system. This model was applied to Hiragino park area in the Kamo river basin, Kyoto city. It has been found out that under the same rainfall condition as that of the flood disaster at Tanigawadake in August 2000, the park area can become very dangerous. Also, the flood hazard possibility has been expressed by the rainfall intensity and the time requiring rise of water depth or river velocity.

洪水流はボイルや並列らせん流を含む三次元構造を有するとともに, 流れの非定常性という重要な特徴を持つ。本研究は, このような洪水流の特徴に着目して, 洪水の増水期と減水期の各段階において水面流況と河床形状の同時計測を繰り返し, 洪水流の乱流構造の非定常特性を河床形状との関連で把握しようするものである。洪水流の乱流構造の検討に際しては, 斐伊川における1997年の2回の洪水観測の結果が用いられた。, In the Hii River, the flow patterns on the flow surface during a flood stage were taken by video camera, and the three-dimensional river-bed configurations were measured by a echo-sounder attached to a cross-type float. Velocity vectors were calculated by applying two-dimensional cross-correlation method. The velocity distributions, the stream lines, the divergence distributions and the vorticity distributions were calculated by using the obtained velocity vectors.Based on the obtained data, the characteristics of boils, vortex motions and parallel spiral flows with longitudinal axes, wave height of dunes and their time variation during a flood were examined. Manning's roughness coefficient were calculated by using the obtained data, and it is found that Manning's roughness coefficient was maximum when the wave height of dunes reached the highest level.

福岡市では1999年6月29目午前に1時間雨量として観測史上最大の77mmの豪雨を記録し, 市内を流れる2級河川御笠川が氾濫した。氾濫水は都市機能の集中するJR博多駅周辺にまで流下し, ビルの地下, 地下街, 地下鉄駅構内に多量の氾濫水が浸入するという都市域特有の水害が発生した。本報は, この水害の現地調査結果ならびに水理検討結果をとりまとめたものである。また, 今回の水害の調査結果をもとに, 地下空間を含む都市の水害対策についてハード・ソフトの両面から若干の提言を行っている。, Heavy rainfall occurred in Fukuoka Prefecture in the morning of 29 June, 1999. The hourly rainfall from 8 to 9 a.m. amounted to 77mm in Fukuoka city. This heavy rainfall and the consequent overtopping flow from the Mikasa river caused inundation in the wide area of the city. The inundating flow invaded into underground space, namely, the underground space in buildings, the subway station and the underground shopping mall, which caused heavy damages.This paper summarizes the field surveys of Fukuoka flood and treats some hydraulic studies concerning it. The countermeasures against urban typed flood are also considered.

現代における研究者としての豪雨災害関連情報発信の試みとして, ホームページを開設し, 1)豪雨災害発生時の研究関連情報, 2)全国各地の既往豪雨記録, 3)防災研におけるリアルタイム雨量観測データなどを整備した.いずれも, 1日あたり5-10回の参照が継続的にあり, 開設から時間を経ても参照が皆無になることはなく, 情報発信の場を設けることの意義が確認された.しかし, 自己観測のデータをホームページ上で公開することが気象業務法に抵触する可能性があるなど, 情報発信技術の進歩に伴って顕在化した課題も少なくない.これらの新たな課題についての広範な議論が今後必要である., In this study, we made WWW of heavy rainfall disaster information. Following information is shown in this WWW(http://fmd.dpri.kyoto-u.ac.jp/~ushiyama/). 1) Research information when heavy rainfall disaster occurs; 2) Precipitation records of each place in Japan(about 1300 weather stations); 3) Real time precipitation on DPRI. Recently 4 months average, the number of reference persons of this WWW is 5 to 10 per day. These numbers of reference person change every day, but aren't decreased.

都市の内水排除の排除施設を効果的に運用する場合、観測システムを明示的に考慮して運用ルールを決定することが重要であり、筆者らはルールの決定が部分観測下の最適制御問題として定式化でき, 有限な状態量の関数として定義可能であることを示した(田中他、1999)。しかし、複雑な内水排除システムでは厳密な最適制御ルールを求めることは難しい。本稿ではモデルの実用的な近似解法として観測方程式を用いた方法を提示する。, Major issues of urban drainage system control are design of control policy and monitoring system. Given a monitoring system , mathematical programming model to obtain an optimal control policy is formulated as a partially observable MDP problem. It was shown in the authors' previous paper (Tanaka, et.al. 1999) that the optimal operation policy takes the form of mapping from finite a point in state space to release volume. However, for real world problems, dimensions of state vectors tend to large enough as to prohibit direct application of the model. In order to cope with this problem, this paper presents an approximate method as to obtain sub-optimal operation policy under partially observable state information. This method contains an observation equation, which is formulated by considering hydrological characteristics. Numerical examples are also provided as to demonstrate its applicability to large-scale real world problems.

本研究では, 豪雨災害の軽減を目指した防災情報の整備とその有効利用に関して考察するため, 平成11年7月23日に本明川の出水被害に見舞われた諌早市を対象にしてアンケート調査を実施した。住民の聴き取り調査結果をもとに, 防災情報の具備すべき条件について考察し, その本来的な目的を果たすために河川GISが有効に活用されるべきことを示した。, Due to the heavy rainfall, inundated area was widened around at Isahaya city on July 23, 1999. It is well known that severe floods including the Isahaya Floods in 1957 were frequently occurred at this district, so preparation of necessary information for flood prevention and/or mitigation becomes urgent. For this purpose, questionnaire suivey was carried out for Isahaya citizens, and what kinds of information should be produced and disseminated has been discussed. At the same time, it is emphasized that river GIS should be made available also for mitigating the flood damages.

本研究では, DAD(Depth-Area-Duration)解析を用いた可能最大降雨(PMP)の推定方法と, PMPと分布型流出モデルを用いた可能最大洪水(PMF)の推定方法を提案する。那珂川流域を覆う2つのレーダー雨量計で得られた雨量データを, 45個の地上雨量計を用いて補正する。レーダー雨量計は, 地上雨量計が捕らえられなかった局所的豪雨を検知し得ることが示された。レーダー雨量を用いてDA関係を求める新しい方法として, 面積固定法と雨量固定法を考え, 両者によって得られるDAD式の違いを検討している。その際, DAD式(最適な包絡線)を求める非線形最適化アルゴリズムを開発した。求めたDAD式に基づき, 最大の洪水を引き起こすと思われる豪雨の時空間分布を設定して, それを分布型流出モデルに入力することにより, 那珂川流域における物理過程に基づくPMFの推定を行った。, This paper describes a procedure of estimating the PMP (Probable Maximum Precipitation) using DAD (Depth-Area-Duration) analysis and the PMF (Probable Maximum Flood) using the PMP and a distributed hydrological model. Radar data obtained from two radars, which cover the Naka river basin in Japan, are calibrated with 45 ground raingages. The radar data detected the local extreme rainfall which ground raingages could not catch. In calculating DA relationship with the radar data, two new methods, constant area and fixed rainfall methods, are proposed. The difference of DAD equations given by the two methods is studied. A nonlinear optimization technique has been developed to determine parameters of DAD equations, optimal envelops. The spatiotemporal distribution of storm, which is expected to cause the maximum flood, is set up based on the DAD equation. Inputting it into the grid-cell based distributed runoff model produces the physically-based PMF estimate for the Naka river basin.

中国淮河流域を対象としたマクログリッド型流出モデルを構築する。大河川流域を対象として流出モデルを構築する場合, 流域分割から始まる一連のモデル構築作業を手作業で行なうことは多大な作業を要する。また, ある特定の河川流域を対象とするのではなく, モデルが他の流域にも適用可能なものであるためにはモデルの構築手法が自動化されている必要がある。そこで, モデル構築に必要な作業を全て自動化するシステムを開発し, それを中国淮河流域に適用する。ここで提案する流出モデルでは, 基本的にメソ気象モデルのグリッドサイズに流域を分割し, 分割した流域ごとに集中型の流出モデルを適用して, それらを相互に接続することで流域全体を対象とする流出モデルを構成する。本モデルを動作させるために必要となるモデルパラメータは, 淮河の支流域である史灌川流域で得られた実測データを用いて同定した。また, 構築したモデルを用いて, 大河川流域における洪水流出量の算定結果に及ぼす河道の影響を調査した。, An automatic modeling system to build a macro scale rainfall runoff model is presented and it is applied to the Huaihe River basin in China. The model parameters are determined by using the data sets obtained in the Shigan River basin which is a tributary basin of the Huaihe River basin. To confirm that the constructed model works correctly, some runoff simulations are carried out.

豪雨による斜面崩壊や洪水による河岸浸食などにより, 多量の流木が河道内に供給され, 洪水流とともに湾内に流出するといった現象がこれまで多くみられる。湾内に流出した流木群が港湾に滞留したり, 湾内外に広く拡散することにより, 港湾機能が麻痺したり船舶の航行に支障をきたしたりしている。このような障害を発生させないための根本は, 湾内への流木の流出を未然に防ぐことにあるが, このような対策を全ての河川に対して施すことができていない現状にあっては, 湾内に流出した流木群の拡散を予測し, 流木による障害や危険性を回避したり対応策を事前に準備するなどの対策が重要となろう。本研究では, 1990年に大分県大野川流域で多量の流木が生産され, これが別府湾に流出した時の流木群の拡散現象をとりあげ, 流木群の挙動解析を行っている。, A large amount of driftwood debouched into the Bay of Beppu due to a great flood of the Ohno River which was caused by a heavy rainfall on July 2, 1990. The driftwood was generated by many landslides and river bank erosion. The driftwood debouched into the bay spreaded and arrived at several fishery harbors. A large amount of floating timber in the Bay of Beppu hindered the navigation of ships and damaged the fishery industries. In this study, the driftwood behavior debouched into the bay of Beppu is investigated by way of numerical simulation method. The effect of wind force on the driftwood motion is newly considered in the model.

本報では急傾斜都市における土砂動態を考慮した氾濫解析法を提示した。上流部の山地部では流出流量と土砂濃度のハイドログラフを求め, それより下流域の都市部に対する境界条件とした。都市部では全領域を河川, 道路, 堤内地に属性分けすることによって都市の諸要素を考慮に入れた非構造格子法を用いて, 土砂を含んだ二次元氾濫解析を行った。本モデルを神戸市の生田川流域に適用し, 土砂流出を考慮した場合としない場合の解析結果を比較し, 土砂を考慮した場合では考慮しない場合に比べて, 浸水深, 氾濫規模はともに大きく, より危険であるという知見が得られた。したがって土砂生産の盛んな河川流域の都市では, 土砂の影響を考慮した氾濫解析の必要性が確認できた。, This paper treats the inundation flow analysis in steep slope cities considering the effects of sediment.A computational river basin is divided into mountainous area and urban area. The hydrographs of discharge and sediment concentration in mountainous area are imposed as the boundary conditions of upstream end in urban area. The above model is applied to Ikuta River basin in Kobe. The results show that the extent of inundation is much severer than that of the case without considering sediment. So it has been found out that sediment influences inundation flow behavior considerably in the river basin with much sediment.

1998年の7月から8月にかけて中国の長江で大洪水が発生した.洪水の原因は異常な豪雨にあるが, 亜熱帯高圧帯が長江に沿って移動し, 下流の洪水流出と上流のそれとが重畳したこと, 洞庭湖・ポーヤン湖の容積が減少したために洪水調節能力が低下したこと, 洪水の疎通能力を低下させるような輪中や建物が堤外地に多数造られたこと, 河床上昇により洪水規模の割には水位が高くなったこと等により, 長期間の高水位を持続し, 本川堤防の決壊や輪中堤の決壊, 多数のパイピングや漏水等が発生した.ここでは, 今回の洪水の原因と特徴, 被害の概要, 長江の治水計画, 洪水対策等について報告する。, A great flood occurred at the Changjiang River, China in July and August, 1998. The primary cause of the flood is an extraordinary heavy rainfall brought by the subtropical high which moved along the Changjiang River. Owing to the rainfall, a flood runoff at the upstream fell on the runoff at the downstream, resulting in the great flood of a long duration. The decrease of water storage capacity of the Dongting Lake and Poyang Lake due to reclamation also magnified the flood scale.A flood water level was higher comparing the flood water discharge due to decrease of flood discharge capacity by the construction of a large number of buildings and circle levees which are called as "yuan" in Chinese in the riverside lands, as well as due to aggradation of the river bed. In this paper, the results obtained by the hearing and the field survey concerning the cause of the great flood, flood control planning of the Changjiang River, the aspects of flood and flood disasters, and countermeasures in future, are reported.

本論文は, 1998年8月下旬に生起した那珂川流域の豪雨・洪水災害について若干の考察を行ったものである。災害発生直後の9月上旬から3月上旬までの間に現地調査・資料収集などを行うとともに, 豪雨データのDAD解析, それに基づく流出解析によって起こりうる極大な流量の推定を行った。今回の事象は, これまでの当該地域の豪雨・洪水の記録を更新する未曾有のものであることが明らかになった。, Based on field investigation, this paper describes the outline of storm and flood disaster that has occurred in the Nakagawa basin in August 1998.The flooding in the Yosasagawa River and the Kurokawa River, the upper reaches of the Nakagawa was brought by a record-breaking severe storm. The resultant flooding was one that exceeds design flood. Using ground-based rainfalls at more than twenty locations and radar raingauge data, the authors have conducted the DAD analysis and derived the probable maximum precipitation (PMP) in the basin. On the basis of the DAD analysis, hydrological simulation using the grid-cell based distributed runoff model has given the probable extreme (plausible maximum) flood.

従来より, 平面2次元流れを解析するにはデカルト座標系が主として用いられてきた。しかし, 都市域での氾濫解析にこれを適用すると, 都市域には道路や建造物, さらには中小河川や連続盛土など氾濫水に大きな影響を及ぼす要素が数多く存在するために, これらの影響を考慮した解析が困難になる。そこで本報では, 対象領域を任意形状の格子に分割することのできる非構造格子を用いた氾濫解析法を展開し, これを実際の都市域へ適用した。その結果, このモデルが中小河川からの氾濫水の排出や, その堤防や連続盛土による氾濫水の遮断を考慮した氾濫解析を行うのに有効であることがわかった。, In analysis of two-dimensional overland flood flow, Cartesian coordinate has been used most popularly. However, in application of the coordinate to urban area, some difficulties arise for treating urban geographical factors - streets, buildings, small rivers or continuous dike -, which have large influence on inundation flow. Then in this paper, an inundation flow model using unstructured meshes which can divide the computational region into arbitrary shapes of meshes is developed, and applied to urban area.Consequently, it is found that this model can take small rivers and continuous dike into account and can be applicable for predicting an inundation flood hazard in urban area.

1998年8月, 新潟県では佐渡, 下越地方を中心に集中豪雨が発生し, 県下で多くの水害による被害が生じた。本報は, 下越の笹神村, 折居川流域を対象として取り上げ, 二度にわたり現地に赴いて実施した水害調査の結果をとりまとめたものである。調査結果より, この水害の成因である短時間降雨の異常性ならびに水害を被りやすい流域特性が明らかとなった。さらに中小河川が有する治水問題の現状についても若干の議論が加えられている。また, 分布型流出モデルによる流出解析と2次元の氾濫解析とを結合したモデルにより折居川の氾濫現象を解析し, 溢水による氾濫過程の定性的な傾向を再現した。, In August, 1998, local heavy rainfall occurred in Sado and Kaetsu area in Niigata Prefecture and it caused much flood damage. This study investigates local flood occurred at Orii River basin in Sasakami Village through the double field surveys. By this study, it is clarified that the flood was caused by the extraordinary heavy rainfall in a short period and that this basin originally had a tendency of suffering flood damage. Some flood control problems which small river basins have are also discussed. Next, the inundation phenomena were analyzed by a mathematical model comprising a distributed type runoff model and a 2-D inundation flow model. 豪雨による都市部の氾濫プロセスが解析できる数学モデルを開発した。モデルは, 道路を開水路網と見立てる1次元ネットワークの計算法を基にしたものであり, 中小河川も地盤が低い道路とみなしてこれを開水路網に組み込んでいる。都市域近郊の山地領域からの流出解析により算出された流出流量をネットワークモデルの境界条件とし, 都市域内の降雨量も横流入とみなして考慮している。また, 下水道モデルについては, 市街地の中の幹線下水道を考慮している。本モデルを京都市中心部に適用したところ, 本モデルは豪雨時の氾濫プロセスを詳細に表現することが可能であることが確認された。また得られた計算結果は, 過去の氾濫実績と概ね一致するものであった。, The mathematical model which can simulate inundation process in urban area due to heavy rainfall has been newly developed. In this model, the network model in which streets, rivers and channels are treated as a channel network is used. The rainfall is taken into account as a lateral inflow and a simplified sewerage model is also incorporated. The discharge hydrographs obtained by the runoff analysis in the surrounding mountainous area are imposed as the upstream boundary conditions. The model was applied to Kyoto city area. The computed results show a good agreement with the record of inundation depth distribution in 1935. It is also verified that this model can express the inundation process , namely, the temporal change of inundation water volume and inundation area.

高潮氾濫計算モデルとして, 通常よく用いられているデカルト座標系計算モデルでは, 市街地の氾濫を取り扱うに際し, 道路や建造物の影響を評価しにくいという問題点がある。本研究では, 建造物の影響を考慮する新手法として街路ネットワークモデルを提案し, デカルト座標系モデルと一般曲線座標系モデルも含めた3種類の手法を大阪市港区に適用して, 解析結果を相互に比較検討した。その結果, 道路の占める割合を大きく表現できるモデルほど, 氾濫永の伝わり方は速くなり, とくに街路ネットワークモデルでは, 氾濫水が道路に沿って流れる様子を表現することができた。このことより, 道路の影響を詳しく考慮するには, 街路ネットワークモデルが有効であることが示された。, In overland flood flow analysis in urban area, it is important to consider the influence of street network.In this study, a street network model is proposed as a new analysis model, and its model, cartesian coordinate model and generalized curvilinear coordinate model are applied to the Minato Ward of Osaka City.As the results, it has been found that as the model distinguishes the wider area of street, the extension of floods becomes faster, especially, in the street network model, flood flow expanding along streets can be well expressed. Therefore it is sugessted that the street network model is an effective model for treating inundation flow in urban area.

本報は, 大阪市北区の「梅田」地下街を対象として, 地上部における洪水氾濫とその氾濫水の地下空間への浸水過程を解析したものである。地上部の洪水氾濫解析においては平面二次元モデノセを, 地下空間の浸水解析においては一次元ネットワークモデルに地下街の天井高を考慮できるスロットモデルを組み込んだ数学モデルを適用した。数値シミュレーションの結果, 予想され得る氾濫水の地下空間への浸水過程がこのモデルによって表現されることが知られた。スロットモデルを用いた場合の計算精度の向上が今後の課題である。, This paper treats a numerical analisys of overland flood flow intrusion into underground space in urban area. A one‐dimensional network mathematical model to express inundation flow in underground space linked with a two‐dimensional overland flood flows by river bank collapse is developed and applied to Umeda underground market in Osaka city.For the pipe flow condition in underground space, a slot model is also applied. The obtained results show that the model exploited here can simulate the aspects of inundation flow into underground space fairly well.

1991年度から3ヶ年の予備的調査研究を経て, 1994年度よりインドネシア共和国中部および東部ジャワ島を中心に「洪水および地形変動による災害とその防御」に関する研究を推進している。主要なテーマは, (1)ジャワ島東部における洪水・土砂流出の評価と水害に関する研究および(2)インドネシアにおける海岸侵食に関する研究であって, これらは現地観測, 資料の収集・解析ならびに理論解析を駆使しながら推進され, これまでに興味あるいくつかの知見を得ている。本稿は, 1994年以後の研究によって得られた主要な成果について総括的に報告したものである。, This project has been conducted since 1994, with attention focused on flood and sediment hazards in central and east Java, Indonesia. It aims at developing methods for predicting floods and associated sediment phenomena such as sediment yields, river changes and beach erosions, including preferable countermeasures against flood hazards and coastal changes. Valuable results have been obtained from observations, data analyses and numerical simulations. This paper describes parts of them as well as the problems to be conducted.

本報は, 中国南東部およびベトナムの大都市の水災害の現状をとりまとめるとともに, 今後の治水対策のあり方について若干の提言を行ったものである。中国広東省に位置する深堀市, 広州市, ベトナムのハノイ市, ホーチミン市を対象とし, それらの都市を悩ます水害, 特に内水災害の実態を述べるとともに, 現在取られている対策について言及している。また将来の治水対策への提言として, ポンプ場の整備のようなハードな対策に加えて, 流域の保水・遊水機能の確保や土地利用規制といったソフトな対策を加えた総合洪水対策の必要性を説いている。, This paper treats urban flood disaster and its control at Shenzhen city, Guangzhou city in China and Hanoi city, Ho Chi Minh city in Vietnam.Present situations of flood disaster there are described and the relation between flood occurrence and rainfall is examined.The causes of flood and the countermeasures against mt are also discussed.In the future, comprehensive measures by both structural and non‐structural facilities are considered to be significant.

Residual currents are known to be responsible for the transport of mass, pollution and sediment, despite their magnitudes are small relative to those of tidal currents.The residual currents in the previous research have been obtained by averaging temporal variation of velocity at a fixed point. To study the transport processes, however, handling the phenomena from Lagrangian viewpoint is necessary.Many factors like tide, wind and density are related to residual currents. In case of Osaka Bay, additionally, the existence of currents running toward the east in the Seto island sea (the constant flow) is pointed out in the previous studies, and the currents has influence on transport processes.This paper shows some experimental results, which take the constant flow into account, of the residual currents in Osaka Bay using a hydraulic model test and a tracer method.

The 1995 Hyogo-ken Nanbu Earthquake have adopted the seismic intensity of JMA(Japan Meteorological Agency) scale 7 since The 1948 Fukui Earthquake. Although the response spectrum is one of tools to grasp the basic reasons of structural damage we could not calculate it in the severely damaged area by this earthquake because observed records of ground motions were not enough near source region. Therefore, we calculated theoretical acceleration response spectra at the ground surface in the region near the earthquake source based on the spectral moment method. To estimate earthquake motion on the ground surface the theoretical formula of earthquake motion at base rock level was derived. The amplification effect of the ground was introduced by using the multiple reflection theory. Theoretically estimated response spectra were modified by the response spectra calculated using observed earthquake motions.

This paper deals with effects of shape of a dropshaft intake to energy dissipation and air transport control. First, free-surface swirling flows in vertical dropshafts are modeled and their solutions are derived. With these solutions, the energy dissipation effects of the dropshafts are examined by the vertical change of vertical momentum flux and kinematic energy, and some results of practical use are obtained. Next, the relations between the dropshaft shape and air entrainment are examined through dimensional analysis. Three types, that is, standard vortex flow dropshaft, helicoidal-ramp dropshaft and vortex flow dropshaft with contraction are analyzed. A hydraulic parameter influencing air entrainment is found and the excellence of the helicoidal-ramp dropshaft is clarified.

Now various kinds of high resolution remote sensors are available, such as Landsat TM (spatial resolution 30 m × 30 m), SPOT HRV (20 m × 20 m) and ADEOS AVNIR (16 m × 16 m) launched in 1996. It is significant to quantify the accuracy of interpretation or classification on high resolution remotely sensed images. This paper assesses land cover classification accuracy quantitatively for four remotely sensed images acquired almost simultaneously with various sensors with different spatial resolutions: Landsat TM, SPOT HRV, JERS OPS (18 m × 24 m), Airborne multispectral scanner (AMSS: 6.25 m × 6.25 m), and false remotely sensed images produced by three degradation algorithms. These false images have 10-m to 30-m resolution resampled from the 6.25-m AMSS image. The authors also produce the 16-m false AVNIR image by a degradation algorithm, and predict the classification accuracy of ADEOS AVNIR images.

The aim of this study is to estimate the characteristics of river efflux in estuary by means of 3 dimensional numerical analysis. The flow behavior of river efflux in estuary is governed by river efflux momentum and buoyancy force due to density difference between fresh and salt waters. In a model estuary, the results show the plume and turbulent jets characteristics of river efflux in estuary. On the characteristics of flow behavior, the increase of river discharge has similar effect with the decrease of density difference, in which the flow behavior resembles turbulent jets. On the contrary, the decrease of discharge or the increase of density difference cause the flow similar to a plume.The similarity in the flow pattern is also discussed.

Kumihama Bay has characteristics of both brackish lake and semi-enclosed basin.Water quality in the bay has become worse in recent years.In order to clarify flow feature in the bay, hydraulic model test and field observations were performed. For the model test, a model of the bay, with horizontal and vertical scales of 1/1000 and 1/200 respectively, was constructed. Tracer method was used to visualize flow in the model. The observations were undertaken in Aug. and Nov. in 1994. Main results are as follows:1) The existence of circulating flow in the region near the channel is identified from the experimental results;2) Fundamental flow characteristics in an area dominated by tidal currents have similarities between experimental data and field data.

The Meghna river, one of Bangladesh's major rivers, flows through the easter part of that country, eroding its banks at many points, and this erosion has been assumed an alarming magunitude since the enormous floods of 1987 and 1988.This paper describes the characteristics of flood flows in downstream of the Meghna river, which were clarified by analyses of water level data at seven gauging stations, and river channel process near the Meghna Bridge site that was surveyed during 1989-1992.Changes in water levels and their correlations showed tidal effects during dry seasons and complicated loops reflecting ground levels in floodplains.Retreat of river bank in a meandering reach up- and down- stream of the Meghna Bridge has proved deeply related to the river bed erosion, especially a severe local scour close to a ferry pier.There, local bed scour and extreme bank erosion have repeated by turns.Numerical simulations of flood flows were carried out in the reach by a 2-D finite element method for shallow water flows.The calculated result showed a significant influence of the ferry pier upon plane velocity distributions.

The three-dimensional river-bed configurations were measured by a echo sounder, and, almost at the same time, time series of photographs were taken of the patterns on the flow surface during a flood stage in the Hii River.Photograph data were analyzed by picture processing technique to obtain velocity vectors.The streamlines, vorticity and divergence calculated from the obtained velocity vectors were examined to clarify the boil structure.The time variation of wave height and wave length of dunes and small scale bars during the decreasing stage of flood flow are examined.In the Sept. 5-6 flood, the height of small scale bars increases while one of dunes decreases during the stage.
